As a Panthers fan that has waiting 30 years for this, hat is tipped to Oilers with utmost respect. Their strength and resiliency pushed the panthers to their limits and made them earn it. They made it a series for the ages and while the series was an emotional roller coaster, I don’t think hockey fans could have asked for a better final series

As someone who was old enough to remember the Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Fuhr, Coffey, Lowe, and Anderson era, I realise how I took winning so many Cups for granted. I was a kid and didn't appreciate what I had. I was depressed after 2006, as I am now. There is still some pride in the achievement of both teams to come back 3-1 and 3-0, respectively. However, this expanded league we have now is far different from that of my youth. As a result, on top of being depressed and proud of what happened, I'm worried. I'm worried I might not be live long enough to see my Oilers hoist Lord Stanley again.

Same here! These Oilers are nowhere near the powerhouse Oilers teams of the 80s and they're very slow learners! They either learned their lesson now and will come back next year to the Finals and win or we might not see another Oiler Cup in our lifetime!!!
When the league was Russian Roulette...... the Leafs would win cups with a 1/6th chance every season. The expansion means you need a lot of skill and heart and lots of luck. McDavid got his look. Mom's spaghetti.

@@HiddenGhost00 : I'm a Maple Leafs fan, but I sincerely hope your Oilers get back to the Finals next year and close the deal! It's tough, but it's definitely doable. Look no further than Florida who lost in the Finals last year.

Getting so close only to fall short is crushing. You almost wish you'd just not made it there only to lose. But then you remember Florida was in this spot a year ago. Take the pain, bottle that experience and use it to fuel your redemption run.

I don't know how you guys do it... I'm a Panthers fan and I'd never be able to come online after a loss like that. That said, I'm not even happy the Panthers won, I'm more relieved. A Panther didn't even win the Conn Smythe Trophy. I think the Panthers got outplayed and were lucky to win the Cup.

@@felixvasquez1570 I live in South Florida and am a former season ticket holder of the Panthers. I'm not a youngling anymore. I see things the way they are. The Panthers dominated the first three rounds but played better than the Oilers in only two of these games, possibly three.
@@jcg9998 it’s a 7 game series . It’s not a one game or one lucky shot that wins you the game. Panthers were the better team the first three games and the oilers were the better team the next 3. One was more flashy than other. But for sure the better team won. To say that they were only good for two games suggests that they needed luck to win which was not the case. They were the better team in the final games as well.
