I want to go to artificial intelligence at UPENN from iran and I've done few arduio projects and as i did them by my own and not going to classes i learned them from youtube do i have a chance?
local doesn't mean they're not credible! it helps ofc to have big names on your resume but these smaller competitions also add up and may open some doors. beyond that, see if you can join international art competitions! or submit your art to literary magazines.
internships in your case! also, let's say you start your own student politics outlet or organization... there are awards for organizations/clubs out there too. leadership awards also exist! and perhaps writing papers for publication in political outlets, etc.
