I hope I can get into yale too, I'm submitting my app tomorrow so wish me luck. Btw this video was really helpful, thank you so much!!

Thank you so much, I am currently working on my application to Yale, and I find your video helpful!
I found you from the Jubilee episode. I loved you on there because you were the only relatable one and sensible one!
thank you for finding my channel!!!! welcome!!!!
thank you so much for this! you are so appreciated
Wow!
Thankss. Just when I was completing my essays!
I'm actually struggling with the essay where you share on an idea that excites you. I really don't know on what to write fo make it both interesting and not cliché
the idea itself doesn't matter as much as your excitement/passion about it! your way of telling it will help it stand out
Yasss Thank you queen! New sub here
I realise now that this is unrelated but when you were talking about the list of classes in the theatre department, I looked at your outfit and my head instantly screamed Beetlejuice and now I can’t get it out of my head
omg yes!!!
Cassandra Hsiao saving my life and grades 101

hi! this question isn’t really related to college admissions but - please tell me more of your favorite writers / authors! specifically short story writers. you mentioned aimee bender but I would love to know more. I’m interested in finding writing that’s more realistic, raw and honest. your writing is wonderful and I’m inspired by your approach to the college admissions process in being so true yourself and never making it an obligation to present yourself a certain way. thank you!
What It Means When a Man Falls from the Sky is a really good short story collection i stumbled across awhile ago. im not super well acquainted with the short story realm but some of my favorite authors in general are haruki murkami and isabel allende!
Can I ask you a question
should i apply to Yale after 12th or between 12th grade?
Apply for Yale EA! Not sure if I'll get in since I lack stellar grades, but I'm trying my best anyways! This video is really helpful for me. Thanks so much Cass :)
thank you for watching! ❤
Thanks, Cass! How would you recommend to do a rightful investigation of Yale (as you mention in 8:00) being an international student unable to tour the university?
great question! i would suggest reading anything you can from students' perspectives at yale. not only following the official accounts but the dialogue between students and yale official social media. our admissions blog is also a good start covering a ton of topics about academics, school life, extracurriculars, etc: admissions.yale.edu/bulldogs-blogs
Hey any advice for a freshman like extracurriculars and stats that you had as a freshman that would mean a lot! I've been watching your videos and theyv been helpful praying to be at the same level of success as you are.
i don't have a video dedicated to freshman year specifically, but i was heavily involved in journalism already in freshman year, which i talk about here: ua-cam.com/video/KxXo0SxcKFQ/v-deo.html you can also start building your leadership skills as well (ua-cam.com/video/FY93gU8Twpc/v-deo.html)
Have your plays really been performed in all those settings? That’s tremendous. Where did you take your first playwriting course? Any suggestions for other aspiring playwrights who might not have options nearby (or budget)?
thanks for your questions! i walk through my playwriting career here: ua-cam.com/video/FUY6xeE773Q/v-deo.html
could you read your stanford supplements? Currently applying! Thank you!

Just curious: how much does journalism still mean to you? do you still engage in journalism in college?
hi thats a great question. i've largely turned my attention to other passions of mine, and much of that chapter in my life closed, but i was still able to do some awesome things like AAJA's Voices Fellowship, interview the cast of To All The Boys (ua-cam.com/video/FFoRN4knpvw/v-deo.html) and cover Comic-Con. But all of these activities are during the summer. During the school year, however, I blog for the Yale Admissions office!
Hi Cassandra! I love your videos and find them very helpful! I was wondering if you included an art portfolio in your application? Thank you! Have a lovely day! :)
Hi Eesha! I did not, unless I was applying specifically for a theater-oriented program (I may have included sample scripts, etc). But many schools do have sections to include an arts portfolio and definitely would encourage you to do that if that is the direction you want to go in and you want to show off your skills!
Alright, thank you so much!
Would you by any chance be willing to read any college essays? I totally understand if not.
I have a question for you. Did you have interviews with colleges like Yale, Harvard, Cornell, etc.?
Yes! A few of them, not all
Hello...all of it was good....but can you tell me how much time you took to write the essays
a lot of time--maybe 6 months total? started in june, and edited throughout fall. but really started brainstorming ideas in march
