I remember when my grandma surprised me and bought this game for me after seeing how much I loved it when I rented it! I still have the game as it holds a special place in my heart! I miss my grandma!
Timothy Burchell if I ask me your grandma sound pretty badass.
We should all have a granny as cool as yours.
these comments are the worst kind of attention seeking
@L P Nah
That's really cool that your grandmother did that. And,That you got to know her and she knew you as well as loved you too notice you loved that game. I never got to know my grandmother
One of the BEST Games ever, hands down
Agreed. this was definitely one of the best games of the 90's for sure.
I still have this game still one of my favorites
It'll be on the Genesis Classic!! I can't wait to try it!!
SUPER UNDERRATED
ever!
That horse riding stage was fresh af for it's time very cinematic and engaging! Revolutionary for a game at that time!
I remembered this speceific game sequence from like 25 years ago and just went on a search to find out what game this was. This brings me back!!
@@dirtychimpstudios5794 dude... me too.
My favorite sequence in the game! With enemy ninjas dropping from their giant kites, it was so exciting!
I wish Sega would revive Shinobi Ninja Gaiden-style!
I agree. The horse riding level is amazing. Awsome speed riding
@@magdislv Yeah too bad there is only one horse riding segment, but then again they had to make a stage with surf boarding.
Everybody's talking about the music! Yes! It's great! But... Can we mention the graphics!? This game is BEAUTIFUL!!! ♥
When it comes to these graphics it definitely is Genesis DOES what NintenDON'T.
The whole thing is beautiful
Yes, it's beautiful all around.
huge detailed sprites, smooth as butter animation, killer soundtrack, engaging gameplay--this game is still as fun to play today as it was during the days of the Genesis. A true video game masterpiece!!
"Pixel arty" sidescrollers like this aged really well
oh man the music in this game is amazing!!!!!
Ikr it's almost unbelievable how every theme is an orgasm for the ears
Especially the second part of the stage 5 for me.
Ramiro 1992 the whole game is. this right here is the best Genesis game ever imho.
sadly games nowadays are shit and have shitty music
+Andrey Kusanagi Oi boa tarde você pode me dizer se o jogo é bom
Level: Expert
Shurikens: 00
This is going to get interesting.
No. 0 = Infinity
@@paimyt ähm no 0/=infinity it can be if you use the cheat
True, its a little bit to ez for the most part
The cheat code never gets old!
@@paimyt But he just used melee for the entire level
I swear I can feel the breeze in the opening stage to this day. Such an important milestone in 16-bit gaming, and all gaming for that matter.
37:51 My favorite videogame set piece ever: the high stakes, the lighting, the music change, the cherry blossom petals falling. An absolute masterpiece.
Wow! You're right! It's very pretty! I'm thinking about buying this game, but it's expensive. I found one with the case and game for $64. That's the lowest that I can find it at. I wanted "Castlevania: Bloodlines," but it's ridiculously expensive. Like $172! 😂
This is the best ninja game ever! As you said, a masterpiece!
@@They_drew_first_blood Did you get it? These games are too rich for my blood these days.
@@Sega_Dreams No, I never got it because I couldn't afford it. Instead, I downloaded the game on my SNES mini using the internet. Lol! It works great and the game is amazing! I've actually gotten in Halo recently and have been playing a ton of Halo 2. I had to borrow my brother's Xbox because I don't own one. All I own re retro stuff. How are you doing in this game?
HOO HOO HOO
man i almost cried over this ... playing this game daily for years . OLD IS GOLD
Fr 👏 the olden days were the golden days
I still love playing this game time to time, and much more fun with enhancement mod(6 button gameplay).
This game should be awarded the best game music ever!!!
g18k77 i agree, many games these days cannot match this masterpiece. :D
+g18k77 Sega genesis games in general had the best music. Streets of rage 1/2, Sonic 3 have amazing music.
+g18k77 nah there are games with better music
+Watchmen22 100% 👌
E sway has better music than this imo
Wow, I can't get over how incredible the music on the surfing stage is.
It’s my overall favorite. I love the music on that stage.
Shinobi 3 has some of the best video game soundtracks ever.
It sure does.
And Streets of Rage 2...
& Knuckles
5:52 : everything about this section is badass. The music, the horse, the sounds - everything!!!!
This and Streets of Rage II, absolutely blew my MIND as a kid. The special moves, the music, the bosses, the beautiful stages, I just couldn't believe what I was playing. 1996-98 my brothers and my cousins used to trade video games with us, a wonderful time. Halcyon days.
Oh shit. This is game of my childhood. Dat great soundtrack, omg!!!
After more than 20 years it still is one of my favorite games.
Improves everything from Revenge of Shinobi. Almost looks like a NeoGeo game, the OST is amazing.
Now that you mention it, this does remind me of neogeo's works moreso their older titles
Revenge of Shinobi had better music imo tho.
I like Revenge of Shinobi much better. The 2nd game had smoother, less nausiating scrolling, better graphics, much better sound, more interesting levels, etc. This version was a step backward in my opinion, although some of the boss monsters were cool.
What I like of this game is that is more dinamic and fun to play. Musics are better for me too, but Revenge of Shinobi is a great game too.
Revenge and this game are both damned fine pieces of software. Yuzo Koshiro didn't do this soundtrack, but the person that did doit, did an admirable job. The music seems to go with the levels smoothly.
Definition of a classic. Takes me back to sitting in front of the tv with my brother playing this over and over 🔥
😢
When I had to leave the game on and go to school in order to save 😂
back in 1993 the stone falling stage was so stunningly beautiful, almost surreal!
That's it!
I'm plugging up my Sega.
Jesus Yeahyeah I'm waiting for my Mega Drive in the mail
+Jesus Yeahyeah esse jogo é muito bom até tô jogando eu e meu irmão a
I played it on PS3 as part of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection
Hamad Humaid that's how I'm playing it now
Rob Olivieri I use the powerful ninjutsu Karyu when Joe Musashi summons the fiery dragons now that's a powerful move
This game kicks so much ass! Love the OST as well.
The horse stage is my favorite ♥️
This is an excellent game.
Graphics & music 👍
Controls are so easy and precise, it’ll be your fault if an enemy hits you.
The palallax-scrolling-effects are awaome for a 16 bit console... Respect!!!
The 16 bit consoles both had the ability to do parallex scrolling rffortlessly, so it should come as no surprise that you see it often in 16 bit games.
One of the best speed running 16-bit games and my personal favorite game from the era. The ability to double jump and spread the knives at a 90 degree, angle, the running katana slash with the invincibility frames, the air kick. It's amazing discovering where you can use certain mechanics to kickass better, like being to slash Godzillas face from standing on his hand, and the samurai from stage 1. I wish you didn't cheese the Shadow Master though...because that's an brilliant 16-bit boss fight.
Watching this is making me think about everything that happened in life since I played this.
I could never get past round 6 in this game!! It was so frustrating jumping form rock to rock! Arggh I still have anger issues regarding it
So much to love in here. Great graphics, one of my fav soundtracks, excellent gameplay and difficulty catered to all.
Yo, who's dropped by here, after the announcement from SEGA, yesterday!? Finally, some love for even this forgotten classic, after years of just Sonic and Yakuza!
Deu uma vontade de chorar agr... Nostalgia bateu forte😢
I'll never forget this game😢
One of my all time favorite games ever! Thanks for bringing back such good memories as a kid.
replaying this now and I'm blown away how well designed this game is today. incredible work.
Shinobi should be considered in next Mortal Kombat games
Man I would lose my damn mind.Him and Hayabusa....now that would be fuckin EPIC!!!!!!!!!
Stage 3 creeps me out. It's like looking at a 36-bit Tricell Laboratory.
stage 3 is with the horse ?
T0mahawk145 Stage 3 is the laboratory. The horse level is part of stage 1.
T0mahawk145 Stage 3 is the laboratory. The horse level is part of stage 1.
ah ok thx
TrueJediHero the horse level is also the start of stage 2.
I remember picking this up day one... It was an entire nother level of awesomeness.
Best game of my childhood hands down. Amazing graphics, design and soundtrack is absolutely outstanding.
One of the best SEGA Genesis games for sure!
That kabuki boss stage is awesome. I love how the music changes all of the sudden, indicating that he's about to get serious.
This, along with Quack Shot and Castlevania: Bloodlines, are my favorite games for Mega Drive/Genesis! :D
Olha, um VR Trooper.
Kkkkk
Zuera
A work of art. As close to arcade you can come on a home console. Really love the graphics.
BEST GAME EVER.
My favorite Shinobi game
Shinob e meu ninja favorito tambem o meu nome é Paulinho
2:07 The daylight to darkness to torchlit transition is SO good!
My first mission game..thank you brother for sharing. I'm happy to watch again and I'm completed in this life. What a music.
i miss this game so much
I feel ya! T_T
Well, you can always play it on PS2 via the Sega Genesis Collection (along with Shadow Dancer).
When I played this as a kid I remember the falling rocks level was so hard. So many good memories
Man, I remember playing this back in the day on my Genesis! Hearing the soundtrack brings back many memories!
God, I forgot how precise you need to be in that final level. Plus, no human enemies. It's just you and the boss, and a labyrinth that ensures you've become shinobi enough to face him.
I had so much trouble with this game when I was like 7, but I still love it to this day.
stage 2 epic music...
I totally agree.
I thought stage 4 had the best music & visuals
Yeahh, man!!! Its the best sound ever
My reaction to after I finally bought this game off of eBay:
Yes
I always loved this game during my 90's childhood, especially the music of it!
My love for this game began when I watched a friend 1 life this game, couldn't believe he was able to pull it off. Then again he had the game for a little while, enough time to master it. Years later I have my own boxed copy, have not played it in awhile, and never managed to beat it.
the sound design and the use of layering for distance effect for the horse level was mind blowing
for 1993 !
Shinobi 3 has great graphics and so well designed. Played the heck out of it in the 90's with my friends
Thank you for this video you helped me complete parts of my childhood. You are now my new ninja brother or sister.
I just beat the game today and wow it was such a great game with good music, impressive graphics, and fun and challenging bosses and level design. Really reccomend you give this a try
The Ninja Master returned? Damn these ninjas! I didn't even knew he was on vacation!
Great gameplay!
Lol The Ninja Master (Zeed) was resurrected bro
Why do you keep to joe mushashi dancing nervously in so strange way sometimes in gameplay? I dont get it.
By the way great game. I still have it from 1993!
Hoy he soñado con este videojuego de casi 30 años, me encantaba!!
Something about watching these videos is relaxing.
37:54 the best boss transition music ever
Round 3's Boss "Body Weapon" has to be one of my favorites in the whole series.
I like seeing playthroughs on the hardest difficulty and u did it with ease... Respect man most gamers can't do this
Please check out my playthrough on my channel, eggonbeansontoast. If you liked this, I'm sure you'll love my take! Cheers
What an incredible game. Miss this. Nice playthrough.
The 3rd level of this game gives me the effing creeps!
Shinobi 3: 1993
Super Metroid: 1994
What inspired what now?
@@solarflare9078 Not likely, reaching far for that one.
Such a great soundtrack! FM synthesis perfection!
The shinobi series holds a spot in my heart no matter what it was the first shinobi that got me to training in real ninjutsu then two made aware of the series world building then 3 came out and just crushed it on the whole setting in round 3 "body weapon" you clearly see that it's no longer the year 19XX but far or shortly into the future and zeed have been up to some very bad stuff, long live the ninja master!!!!
A true master. I learned a bunch watching this.
I love this game!I remember in my 9 years go to school with my red megadrive and play! My favorite part i think is the stage of body armor. Surg!
My grammar was awful back then, 6 years ago.
discovered this game today on the genesis I bought, 2 years ago. (never had one before). dude this horse riding scene shocked me. it looks fuckin awesome and cinematic. the soundtrack, control scheme, level design and everything is awesome. would love to own the original cartridge but it's too expensive. Im playing with an everdrive for the mega drive.
This is a game i've loved as a kid and i love now, despite that it was released a long ago (the same year i was born). I never played a game better than this one. Even though i have several favorite games on pc, Shinobi III is still my ultimate favorite. Too bad i couldn't find other games from these series in my childhood..
like totally amazing.. oh man just brings joy watching this. coz i had hella fun playing this ages ago
Timeless game, you can put it on right now and play it. Masterpiece.
I have literally spent years trying to remember the name of this game based only on a white ninja and a elevator level with machine guns
Same that's literally gow I just found it I was 5 when I got this but never got past that level and later got an n64 and the Genesis broke
Com certeza um dos jogos que levou o Mega Drive ao topo.
Nostalgia overdrive of the best days growing up and I love all the shinobi games
nostalgia
When he set the game to Expert and 0 Shurikens, I was like "YES!". Only way to play this game.
+Meta E. Want more challenge? Don't use ninjitsu at all. He still used it though...
One of the top 10 from Mega Drive. Cool music and moves.
What a great video, this game is a masterpiece.
IMO one of the best looking platformers for the genesis ever
Man I loved this game, the music is orgasmic
Every level has variety , a challenge - wasn’t the same crap . It has uniqueness. This game holds a special part in my childhood . Beat this game so many times
On the "traps" level boss you can actually attack him while he's tranformed to the feathers too by striking in the middle wich will make him change form immediately. Also, you don't have to run: just stand in the corner, then when he comes near enough start jumpkickinging him 5-6 times in a row. Rinse and repeat after his come back from his feathered transformation.
Its so sweet when the Character goes right and left so fast xD
This video game had possibly the music on the Sega Mega Drive. All this music sounded fascinating to me, and it brings back a lot of memories when I was a kid.
One of my favourite games of all time. Good old times.
I remember when my brother and I first got this game and we heard the music begin on stage 1. It was a wow moment for us. Sadly he is not here with us anymore. I miss him...
😢
The music was just wonderful
Isso ai jogado numa tubão no começo dos anos 90, era uma perfeição.
Great performance. Thank you for sharing this.
I was about 7 years old when this game out. I had no idea what I was in store for when I purchased this game. It was so fun and frustrating at the same time. I remember my mom scolding me during me several times because I was yelling at the TV so much. It was one of the hardest games I played next to Ninja Gaiden at the time. Someday I'd like to go back and see if how fast I can complete the game or if I even can complete again lol.
GO SHINOBI GO!!!!
May i ask what is the deal with not being able to stand still, each time he stops you keep making t go back and forth.
I was wondering the same thing myself :/
+Carly Mc My memory may be escapeing me but I thnk its due to enmeys being able to spawn directly above you, a bad situation no matter what.(yes comments old i get it.)
+Carly Melissa I think it's because it's also a tool-assisted run, there is program playing the game instead of a human player. It's most evident on the level with all the pipes, where it just goes backwards and forth a little on some parts with no discernible reasoning behind it.
+Carly Melissa May be it is to prepare the fingers to make a sudden moves reacting against enemy attack. Loosening the muscle. Games like this requires good reflect. Some people do that. I myself sometimes...
lmao you have quite the imagination
From the graphics to game mechanics to the soundtrack this was a fucking amazing game
@World of long plays you're really something! 👍🏻
