Yes it is super loud! That banging noise is the black hard plastic drain hose hitting the back of the machine. On mine anyway. I wrapped that hose in foam and it helped a lot.
I don't understand why ppl think this is a bad washing machine. After getting fed up with the front load not washing properly this machine looks ljke a dream come true to me. The noise is a lot less than the maytag front load I had but I do miss the time notification. This doesn't tell you when it would be done. Just as my local salesperson said do the deep water and extra rinse for kids clothes. Even at normal setting with extra rinse it came out superb. Took over an hour to finish the cycle though
I have this machine and really like it. At first I thought it wasn't filling properly, and found this video to verify it was working as it should. I bought the machine specifically for the removable agitator so I could wash my quilts, and it does the job. For these larger items, I add the extra rinse and deep water options. (Pet hair) The machine IS noisy and seems to shake while spinning. Do not make the same mistake I did at first, and overfilled the washer with a ton of clothes...just testing the waters.
I'm considering this machine for similar reasons: Pet Hair and the ability to wash large items less frequently than small things (best of both worlds) but I'm getting so many mixed reviews! Do you still like yours? Have you tried the little floating net things you add into the washer that helps scoop pet hair off the top? I'm wondering if they would work on the deep water setting
The black drain hose on the back shakes against the machine and makes noise....if you position it away from the machine, many times over it will stay quiet during a spin cycle 👍
Just ran my first load. Yes, it's loud and a little funky, thanks for the video and all the comments. The instruction manual was pitiful. 2nd load of sheets went better.
My over 20 year old Maytag washer finally broke - and it was loads of laundry day so I rushed out and purchased Whirlpool 2 in 1 WTW5057LW (never researched) what was important to me was price and the product name - First wash was loud, constantly balancing the clothes in basket clicking and clacking, clicking and clacking, I was unable to select the level of water to use (two choices), lint on clothes after the wash cycle completed, it took longer for this wash to be completed probably with all the clothes balancing it was doing and I had a small load of clothes. My Maytag washed and rinse took less time and so much more quieter with no lint - just didn't have the money to purchase another Maytag washer - This whirlpool 2 in 1 looked good but I'm not happy with it.
I bought this exact machine November 9, 2021 from Lowe’s in Baton Rouge, LA on Millerville Rd. They have a 30 day money back guarantee. My machine started making a horrible noise 31 days on December 8, 2021 after I bought it. We brought it back immediately and because it was 31 days, they wouldn’t switch it out for a new one or give us our money back. Thank goodness we bought the extended warranty on it. We couldn’t get an appointment with a Whirlpool certified repair person until December 20, 2021. That’s the best Whirlpool could find. They won’t be able to fix it until the first week in January because of the holidays. The repairman said it needed a cam kit. I wouldn’t recommend this machine at all. Lowe’s was unwilling to help us out by swapping it out because of it being 31 days that it broke.
I just bought this unit and did my first load using 2 each Gain "he" pods on the heavy duty cycle with the agitator in. My laundry filled half the basket. This load took somewhere between an hour to 90 minutes to complete with the extra rinse. The machine is indeed louder than my old GE agitator type but not nearly as loud as some have complained about. As for washing, the impeller and the agitator both work well on this cycle. The washer will wash for several minutes before it starts to turn the laundry over so don't panic if you see dry laundry sitting on top in the beginning minutes. I assure you every bit of my load turned and washed multiple times. My clothes came out fresh, clean, cold, and almost dry. This will be interesting because it does take longer to wash than my old machine for the same size load but my clothes should dry in half the time from where it's spin cycle is so much better. I'll keep you updated.
@@secessionnow4133 u should be able to do a queen. Remove agitator, use the right amount of HE detergent and choose bulky items , so that u get deep water. I haven’t tried it with my queen comforter, I don’t have a bulky comforter, but it’s still quilted , sometimes comforters are super bulky, in this case, call Whirpool customer service.
@@ella8874 Why should the agitator be removed to wash queen size? I have not had an agitator hurt my sheets and quilts. Looking at this model as I need a new washer and seeing you should remove agitator concerns me.
Bought this exact model about 2 years ago. It's the only major appliance I"ve ever regretted buying. Bought it because of the removable agitator but don"t find that feature particularly useful as it really does not move things in the water as it needs to. I use the "deep water" mode for most everything!
Used mine for the first time and found it worked just fine. I do live alone and have pretty light loads, though so maybe others with families and more clothes will have a different experience - as some seem to have. Happy with mine so far.
(Comment updated after a few weeks of usage) --The spin cycle will do this with only a few clothes - wobble and be awful. I found out and confirmed after a few weeks of usage, the washer needs to be at least 1/2 full to 2/3 full of clothing. That is what is expected design-wise. Then the spin cycle is much better. Still not totally quiet and still, but very acceptable - I don't have a problem with it at all. Make sure the machine is very well balanced (front / side method like in the machine instruction). Quality of wash very good - (I've been using the agitator).
I'm having trouble with this washer also. It's very stressful for me since I'm disabled. I just want a regular washer that's reliable and works like it should.
It washes alright. You can't overload at all. My problem was where is the fabric softener dispenser is located on the machine. I started putting my settings on white wash, but I put the water on cold. And poured fabric softener in the bleach dispenser.
I just got this machine delivered today. It's so noisy compared to my old front loader. At the start of the load when the lid locks, i thought something broke off inside cuz it "snaps" so loud. LOL. First 2 loads I did seem to have turned out ok, but then did a load of darks and all my husbands work pants came out with white marks (detergent?). Not sure if it's because there wasn't enough water or what. I'm re-doing the load without any soap and it better be good or i'm going to be mad. I think i'll just start doing the deep water on every load. I'm pretty scared after reading all these comments. Totally having buyer's remorse.
So I’ve had mine for 5 months now, and I really like it (agree with basically everything in your review), but my heart is still with a Speed Queen TC5 (old fashioned make and functions) and I’m having one delivered Thursday. Removable Agitator is: Pros: 1) Good wash action with lower loads, but the more you fill it, the further they get from the bottom impeller, and less they get agitated. 2) Lots of setting options Cons: 1) Noisy (but I don’t mind that) 2) Little balance funky on super small loads 3) Not much agitation from the agitator So anywho… my husband works in a mine, and we simply just need a basically commercial machine, residentially…. The SQ TC5 is that.
Using the impeller feature is for lightweight clothes, the agitator is for heavy clothes like JEANS, towels, etc. The agitator is much more aggressive. This model give you the choice of actually having two machines in one.
This agitator is not a full size one so it is less active than the old school ones. Still better than the impeller but not by much. I don't understand why it doesn't fill up at the beginning and then begin agitating instead of agitate, fill water, agitate, fill water for more than a half hour. Driving me nuts.
The only useful functions of the "agitator" are to 1) stop the user from placing clothes across the impeller during loading and 2) help avoid items from moving and getting stuck atop it during the course of the washing process.
I just want to be able to fill the basin and let stuff soak. Is that even an option? I have washable pee pads for my dogs and I really want to be able to let them soak with oxi clean but the water with the faucet option just drains out. Why can't they just include an actual instruction manual that explains how to use the different cycles?
So, I've lived with it for a while. I'm finding I pretty much have to use "deep water" all the time to get a decent clean for my garden and work clothes. You need the deeper water to help the agitator work. It is probably 3 stars, not 4. Also, as others point out, don't layer clothes. Clump them. My wife finds the regular settings without agitator are OK for less soiled clothing, i.e. your typical indoor clothes. We all have different opinions and that's cool. People who complain that the agitator is nothing like the old-style machines are correct too. This machine is not nearly as aggressive as any older machine would be. Still, I find with deep water it helps. It isn't useless, but that's my opinion.
I really appreciate this. We're sticking with our 1970's washers. I like my clothes clean. I have the impression that the manufacturers are doing their level best to use modern logic and motor design to try to compensate for an impossible to solve problem: Too little water. As to the nonsense about 'clump' don't 'layer' - if you have to be that picky in how you load it, it's a lousy machine.
Hello Sir, Can you let me know or direct me to a help guide for bypassing the lid lock? My machine won't lock so I'm unable to do laundry at home. I have this same washer model WTW5057LW0 . Any help will be appreciated.
I was actually going to look at this machine after researching a lot of them, your video was helpful and I will Not get this one after watching your jeans wash
That did it for me, too. I work hard not to waste water, but a machine which doesn't wash my dirty clothes clean IS wasting water. We'll stick with our 1970's washers. There's still parts and we are mechanically inclined. They clean. (All these people saying agitators are hard on clothes...seriously?)
This was very helpful, I thank you. You are right you just have to do a few loads and personal decide which wash cycle you are going to use. The lack of watch was a big change and I also was quite concern that it wasn't working right. I'll be more relaxed about it now.
there are only three top load machines (GE/Hotpoint, Speed Queen, and Maytag Commercial for the home (Whirlpool) that fill to the top and agitate like old school washers that we all grew up with and remember. I have the Maytag Commercial (available at Loew's) . Wash cycle takes 29 minutes and clothes are fresh and clean and agitator does not tear up or wear out clothes at all...uses more water but that is what I want and willing to pay the slight difference it makes in my water bill. Had this machine for 3 years and matching dryer never an issue, slightly noisy but so what it's in the laundry room. Why people don.t research and care about these small but important things is beyond me
Hey I think it's in the port on the top under the lid. I'm looking around to see if I can put the detergent in the same port or does the detergent go directly into the washing machine?
@@MarkThesuperMariofan-xv4oe Incorrect. You wait till the Rinse Cycle, pause the Machine, Pour it in, and then re-start the machine. Putting it in before you start the cycle will stain clothes/make detergent useless.
Looks like the agitator should go clockwise more often than counter-clockwise to get the clothes to rotate through the tub. If it just goes left-right equally, clothes don't move top to bottom.
This unit has no fabric softener hold. It has to be done by hand during cycle. We don't use fabric softener. I recommend you don't get this machine if you routinely use fabric softener.
Downy softener ball only solution . You'll never know when it gets to rinse mode because it doesn't have a indicator light for this. . Sense Soak Wash and Done . No Rinse indicator or countdown timer
@@glacierlaw That's the biggest problem with this piece of crap machine, you never know where it is in the wash and rinse cycles. It takes forever to wash to finish and you never know when/how to add fabric softener or other additives to final rinse.......WHEN is final rinse????? I wish i had never bought this junk and I'd like to sell it and buy a real washing machine....Buyers beware!
I just got one and I LOVE this washer! It cleans the clothes beautifully! I take the agitator out for my quilts and it worked wonderfully. Also, if you put it on NORMAL with a deep fill, it will fill up with a good bit of water. The only downside is no fabric softener dispenser, but my clothes still come out fresh and I just use sheets in the dryer.
@@renee9848 from Home Depot's Q&A: If you desire to use liquid fabric softener with this washer, Whirlpool suggests using the Downy Ball® dispenser. Pour a measured amount of liquid fabric softener into the Downy Ball® dispenser, pull the ring tightly to seal it, and place it on top of the load. Follow the manufacturer’s directions or the correct amount of fabric softener based on your load size. Then use the Rinse Options button to select Fabric Softener. The Downy Ball® dispenser will automatically release the fabric softener at the correct time in the cycle.
@@rebeccagordon7051 Sorry, but I've used liquid fabric softener for the last 25 years and never had that problem. From what I've seen, that's a myth or old wives tale, whichever one you ascribe to.
The separate detachable piece is called a AUGER shaft with a handle . This could aide as pulling clothes down to the wash plate. But it's fixed. Meaning as it pulls down clothes ... but also brings them up. The true AUGERS are independent. Meaning when going in the right direction the auger goes one way thus pulling clothes down completely as the wash plate turns in the right constantly. Also in the comments DaDos.. explains the theory below. I think as well without the handle Auger part ..you get more room for Bulky items such as comforters.. blankets..and sheets. 🌀 The main goal is ... Don't put clothes or drop clothes on top of the wash plate . Load around the plate with the circle clear of fabrics. ✋
I never cared for a top loading washers. I prefer front loading because all the clothes gets tumbled around like way back when they used beat clothes on rocks. Plus, if ur washing your comforters and heavy blankets it's so much better. To me it's not efficient to wash heavy items on top loaders. I love my Lg's, bought them 4 yrs ago. No smells no issues. I leave the door open after every wash. I am short so that's why I also prefer it. I hate selling top loaders, they come back crying about it. No one cares to read manuals or do their research or to even call manufacturers.
i just received this exact washer a couple days, i did noticed its doesn't fill water all the way to the top or even middle like my old washer. I guess that's part of the whole HE thing ? so the only way is to select deep water but that should only be used for washing jeans and blankets ? heavy stuff
Yes. This machine is not officially "he", but acts a lot like one. Our last "he" top loader barely used any water. You can use deep water to help, if you want. You don't have to only use that on blankets. Some cycles actually default to deep water ("delicates" for example). Download the cycle guide to get more information on which settings are activated by the knob.
My deep water wasn't deep. Like quick wash. Not paying 728.00. For something I don't like. Home depot picking it up tomorrow. I think the sence panel can't sence.
Thank you very much for the review after seeing this Washer I can now cross it off the list. I really don’t get how whirlpool puts out such weak agitation washers. I guess coming from vintage washers that have powerful agitation it takes a bit to get used to seeing this wash action. The added agitator to the wash plate is really just a gimmick I don’t see it doing very much.
Glad I could help! Although I'm having pretty good luck (using deep water), I thought showing ya'll my exact experience would be useful so you can make up your own minds. Our previous Korean brand "he" washer had its own issues, but I think it did better in top load "he" style washing without worrying about agitators or deep water.
We've had this exact washer for a year and I just found the agitator and the cabinet above and I'm wondering if I should be using it or not we have always used this washer without the agitator and it seems to do just fine
After a few washes in, Ive noticed its just the drain hose bouncing, I put a piece of foam around it and it is so quiet so far!!! :) Im about to try a blanket without the agitator. This should be interesting!!
Great demo! Thank you so much 'some guy on the internet'! Question: If you change the temperature to cold and turn off the machine (or run a full cycle and it turns off on its own) when you turn the machine on does it retain the previously selected temperature or does it reset to a default? I rarely use anything but cold water and really want a machine that you can set and forget but all the fancy new ones seem to have their own defaults...
The Quick Instruction sheet shows that clothes are not supposed to be placed in the machine in overlapping layers. They are supposed to be added in clumps around basin/agitator. Maybe that makes the difference?
Yes. I don't recall reading that, maybe they changed the instructions based on feedback. I'm not saying I'm an expert, just showing how it worked for me coming from what I know. I also find that deep water helps with the turn-over. But that uses more water. Thanks for mention this, I hope it helps someone else!
I just bought mine 4 days ago. I do not like the keypad you have to press the buttons down harder than I think you should hav too. I can see this wearing out over time. I do not like the noise and I bought because of the agitator feature. My clothes are not moving around as I think they should and I’m washing small loads. I don’t like that it doesn’t have a fabric softener dispenser or detergent so I definitely will be using pods. I still can’t figure out when I can actually add in my fabric softener because the instructions are not helpful. I still have my old LG washer waiting for someone to pickup. I may just bring them back in and have my washer repaired. I had high hopes of getting the top loader and going with the front loader. My only complaint was the mildew smell after washing a few loads but that doesn’t seem so bad after washing 6 loads of laundry in this machine.
How long are your loads taking? This washer was just delivered to me today, and I did a normal load to just test it out with a few towels, sweatshirts and a pair of jeans. After an hour... I would check it and it would cycle between "Sense" and "Done" with a motor sound in between. The lid is locked, but it didn't seem to be doing anything. I eventually stopped the load, and it was clear that the machine hadn't spun dry the clothing (yet) or it just didn't. I'm trying it again now on Quick Wash to see if I fair any different. Maybe I got a bad one? This is with the agitator in.
Just got mine three hours ago. The one with no agitate. So different than old fashion turn knob. They are just forever for a load. I bought xtra drainage hose. The one it came with too short. 728.00 for a washing machene. That's a cheap one. Ridiculous price. Same one was 587. It went up 200.00 from DEC. Bought a fridge in DEC was looking at washing machines. I guess it beats laundry by the well. Or in the tub. 1 load 90 minutes.
I got the same machine and I am having the problem. It does the sensing, soak cycle then goes done without doing the wash cycle. When I hit the start button again it will do all cycles. Do you know what is going on with it?
@@kaseyring6847 within 48 hours, according to paper received on day of purchase. Home depot picked my up and was credited back on card. The machene itself is no good. Everyone I've talked to is very disappointed. I'm looking for old school. 60 70 80 model.
We've had this machine for 6 months and I haven't seen that yet. The quick cycle takes about 30 min. The heavy duty cycle (which I use a lot for work clothes) takes over 1 hour. I also use deep water and sometimes extra rinse, and that will push it to an hour and half. With the regular non-soak cycles, I don't see it pausing. It is always doing something.
You pour it right into the tub. For the softener(shouldn't use it as it causes build up) I would use that downy ball that you fill up and put in with your load and it pops open during the cycle. If you don't want to do that. Then move over to dryer sheets.
I bought this washer, and it lasted for 6 washes. Called Whirpool. Took days to get through to them. They sent out a technician. He said the control panel was shot. Since it broke mid-wash, there was still a good bit of water left inside even after we emptied it with a cup and bucket. The technician needed another technician to move it because it was so heavy, This was going to cost an additional $99. Whirlpool denied the request to pay the extra $99. I sent both the washer and dryer back to Lowe's after only two weeks. Whirlpool is a terrible company. Never again.
I just bought the dryer that goes with this exact model washer and hooked it up had it running for 5 hours and kept blowing cold air on the high temp setting . Defective out of the box
I just got mine and I have only done one load my second load is not cleaning it ran all night I may end up sending it back as well the weekend will determine my decision
Not a single answer for this… my previous washer had a spot in top of the agitator to add softener. I guess with these machines you have to use a Downey ball.
Does anyone else have issues with the washer leaving your clothes soaked when the wash completes? I thought the washer would automatically drain and spin the clothes during the wash cycle, but do I have to go back downstairs just to hit drain and spin every time before putting the clothes in the dryer?
We have this model and the agitator barely moves. We had a repairman come out yesterday and replaced the capacitor and still the same issue. I’ve reset and calibrated it several times, not sure what to do now, any suggestions are welcome?
We just bought this washer and we took the five-year extended warranty. When the five years are up, this thing is going to the landfill. Honestly, I'll be taking my clothes to the laundromat periodically for a deep washing. Luckily, our clothes rarely need more than a light wash because a light wash is all this piece of junk can do.
I just bought this washer and it’s only two weeks old and when it’s done washing my clothes, I noticed that you can literally ring out my clothes and it is still got water in them and then after it’s done working you can hear the machine making a loud humming noise for hours. It does not stop until I push the off button. It sounds like it’s draining something but there’s nothing being drained. I plan on going back to Menards tomorrow to find out if there’s a reset to this machine and if not, I plan on exchanging it for a new one.
Just bought this a week ago and my wife hates it. It’s noisy and water never covers the clothes. Perhaps this is getting used to a high efficiency machine. Clothes on top, stay on top and never hit the useless agitator. My wife used to keep the lid open while filling and leave it soaking the whole day on our old machine. I read you can do this with the faucet feature but it automatically drains after 3 hours. Also, I read you can pause to unlock the lid, but after trying this hitting play doesn’t start it so I need to hold start for 3 seconds again. Maybe it is starting where it left off, still studying this.I imagine I could live with this machine by using the deep water setting all the time but why have a machine if you have to do this!
thanks for showing this review on this machine I just bought one and was really confused I've had top-loaders in the past and felt like they didn't wash good enough without the agitator but then I have items that are more bulky that the agitators in the way so I thought this concept was a good idea
same! this is my first time with a washing machine with a removeable agitator...and i feel like it doesnt wash my clothes well....not sure how the ones with no removeable agitators wash their clothes..lol i feel like its not clean. and even watching it i feel it isnt doing anything to the clothes lol
@@brandonjoseph1489 i use heavy duty and use deep water....and before i start the wash i use the faucet feature to soak the clothes so its a little heavy when the washer senses the load and it really. fills it up which makes the clothes actually move around better.. lol thats the best i could do.
Is there a way to turn off “sense”??? Also, when my laundry is done the machine just makes noise and never unlocks the lid. I cant tell if its done or not. Wth is going on😢
Yes. With more clothes, it usually finds a balance and is quieter. The worst is like one pair of jeans and a heavy hoodie. That will rattle a lot. Thankfully, it hasn't walked yet.

I just got this washer and for some reason when I hold the start it will do the lod locking sound like yours did, but then after a few minutes the the sensing and lock button just sit there and blink. I waited 30 minutes for it to do something and it didn't
Have maybe washed 10 loads in mine now it won’t lock makes the noise then clicks again then the soak wash done and lid lock lights flash! What am I doing wrong?
I just bought one of these machines. How do you add Clorox 2? There is no dispenser and I am told not to add it to the regular bleach dispenser. Thank you for any information that might be helpful.
Wish I would've seen this before I bought it. I chose this one because of the agitator. I love the old fashioned top loaders. This is junk. The agitator does nothing but move the piece of clothing next to it up and down. The clothes do not turn over at all, with or without the agitator. I had clothes that were still dry through the whole wash cycle. I opened the top and pushed them down. I can't watch every load. I don't trust that my kids could even use this machine successfully. Gonna try different types of loads. I hope I find one that works cause this was a lot of money wasted otherwise. Mine isn't noisy at all. That's the only positive I got from all the negatives.
maybe you're loading it wrong? you're supposed to load clothes in "loose heaps," surrounding the impeller, never on top of it or circled around it. towels and sheets you fold,., heavier and bulkier items first, and lighter on top, smaller to medium sized loads work best with the impeller, and when loaded properly should all get washed, if you watch a piece of clothing closely it should slowly be pulled under, and resurface a minute later. the agitator is supposed to be for heavier type clothing, like jeans and towels. but really you shouldn't need to switch between the agitator or the impeller at all if you don't want to, just pick one. he top loaders require a bit more attention, you'll need to pre treat stains before washing, and freshly soiled or nasty clothing should be pre washed or rinsed and spun first, or soaked. if you're really determined to idiot proof it, and make sure they are clean, then leave the agitator on, and set a favorite cycle with the deep fill option, and tell your children to press the favorite button when doing the load, you won't need to worry as much about improper loading with the agitator on. the dual feature IS a bit of a gimmick, but that does not mean that both options are not effective or useful in their own ways. as for clothing not appearing to have gotten wet; it's possible that the high spin simply did a good job drying them off. it's a minor inconvenience compared to the old school washers, but the trade off is large- as the old ones used as much water as a large bathtub, and did a poor job of spinning the clothes dry, increasing time and energy used in the dryer. if most of your loads are large and fill the tub, then definitely use the agitator.
I find I'm using "Deep Water" more often if I suspect the clothes won't turn over. We do a lot of small loads and it is fine. Deep Water helps for big loads, but you'll use more resources (water, heating energy).
It looks like the clothes barely turn or unclump, even with the agitator. I wonder why it rattles so loudly on spin? Not level or the drum is unbalanced? Anyway, THANK YOU so much for posting !!!!! Got a LG and don’t like it. Debated this one but not after seeing the video lol
It was trying to pull the jeans to both sides at the same time because they were across the middle if you had loaded them along the edge around the basket they wouldn't do that it's in the loading instructions.
Well for starters you did not load the machine properly and I don't mean that in a rude way but you're actually supposed to load the machine as if there was a post agitator in there putting things around the edges and that way that when it's washing it will Bloom as it's supposed to rolling the clothes over
I just purchased today this Whirlpool 5057 model. Concerning the jeans not being pulled down without the agitator in place, the included directions specifically say do not load items lengthwise. That may or may not have been in the directions two years ago when this video was made.
On back of machine there is a tech spec sheet if installer didn't remove it. Basically they assign a value to each of the top lights and when you get into diagnostic mode you add up the blinks and there is a chart to tell you what is wrong. Very frustrating
No, don't do that. The instructions are very clear. Bleach in bleach dispenser only. You have to buy a fabric softener ball dispenser. This device somehow releases at the right time (probably the spin). We don't use softener so it doesn't matter to me. I would recommend that if softener is really important to you, look for a machine with a dispenser, or try out the dispensing ball.
@@apinspires78 turns out my water hose weren’t connected to the right places and my outlet for the washer didn’t have enough voltage to make it completely start

@@jillianstevenson4264 hi, yes you add detergent first, then clothes. It seems weird, but that’s the design. I am currently using HE liquid detergent, will move on to pods once that’s finished, just to change things up. Make sure you are using HE detergent only. It is designed to rinse and leave no residue, since the machine uses less water, even while in deep water mode. I use deep water mode often, unless it’s a super small load. But I never over load my machine anyway.
If you add the load inside balanced it don’t make noise at all. You cant just slap the stuff in and it balances it for you it don’t work like that!!! If you add accordingly it will be fine quiet and last a long time
I’ve had this washer for 5+ months (it’s set aside in trade for a speed Queen as of this week). I always load it in donut formation but it’s definitely the loudest machine I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a bunch over the last 10 years… even my new Speed Queen is much quieter, and those are tanks.

(Pet hair)
The machine IS noisy and seems to shake while spinning. Do not make the same mistake I did at first, and overfilled the washer with a ton of clothes...just testing the waters.
Bought it today. 18 year old son broke previous one. 🥴
I love the removeable agitator as well for bulky items
Overloading is the number one cause of poor washing results.
Mine is making alot of noise from the back and shaking is it normal??
Lowe's has lost not only you but us and a lot of other people with their extraordinarily poor customer relations.
I agree
They told me they only have 2 day return policy on there appliances. When mine quit working after 2 weeks and 4th wash load. Smh
Can you put a queen quilt in the washer?
They were almost dry because they didn't get washed. They're still dirty.
Will the washer fill up heavy duty like it’s not HE
@@secessionnow4133 u should be able to do a queen.
How do we put fabric softner in there!!
Bought this exact model about 2 years ago. It's the only major appliance I"ve ever regretted buying. Bought it because of the removable agitator but don"t find that feature particularly useful as it really does not move things in the water as it needs to. I use the "deep water" mode for most everything!
This was one of the best washing machines reviews I’ve ever watched! You are entertaining!
Used mine for the first time and found it worked just fine. I do live alone and have pretty light loads, though so maybe others with families and more clothes will have a different experience - as some seem to have. Happy with mine so far.
Mines as well. We recently purchased ours
Must place clothes towards the outer portion of drum evenly not placing any on top the agitator attachment ( hand place the clothes)
That's good advice. I just threw things in hoping the pre-spin would balance out. But yeah, hand place them to give it a chance.
When do you add the fabric softener it doesn’t notify like a Samsung washer
I have the same washer and I get white marks Also! How weird I thought I was doing something wrong
We only use liquid, "he" detergent, so it isn't white. We use very little detergent, the stuff is powerful. Are you using powder detergent?
I hate mine 6 months old
So I’ve had mine for 5 months now, and I really like it (agree with basically everything in your review), but my heart is still with a Speed Queen TC5 (old fashioned make and functions) and I’m having one delivered Thursday.
Removable Agitator is:
Pros:
1) Good wash action with lower loads, but the more you fill it, the further they get from the bottom impeller, and less they get agitated.
2) Lots of setting options
Cons:
1) Noisy (but I don’t mind that)
2) Little balance funky on super small loads
3) Not much agitation from the agitator
So anywho… my husband works in a mine, and we simply just need a basically commercial machine, residentially….
Hi Glene it's good seeing you post !
Darren Aldspinboy. ✋
I hope your well and friends and family.☮️
I guess that's why it's called a High Efficient machine. It takes longer and moves slower than the older model machines.
Hello Sir, Can you let me know or direct me to a help guide for bypassing the lid lock? My machine won't lock so I'm unable to do laundry at home. I have this same washer model WTW5057LW0 . Any help will be appreciated.
This is a good example on how the "HE" washers really don't turn over the cloths in the water like the older models used to.
Always use deep fill.. dont have one yet but our old hot point is acting up and id live to avoid trips to laundrmat for coforters etc
Why people don.t research and care about these small but important things is beyond me
I do and we still researched our purchase. We need a place that have machine to test ourselves.
I will look into these brands thx
I have 12 y/o GE kitchen set that still runs great
Is it accurate to put the soap in the bottom before adding clothes?
where do I put the fabric softener and when do I put it in?
Hey I think it's in the port on the top under the lid. I'm looking around to see if I can put the detergent in the same port or does the detergent go directly into the washing machine?
I have this same washer and can’t find compartment to put fabric softer. Help
How do you add fabric softener to this washer
I’m here to find out the same.
Same 😒
Before loading clothes inside bottom of drum
@@chalinosanchez6549 ok thx
@@MarkThesuperMariofan-xv4oe Incorrect. You wait till the Rinse Cycle, pause the Machine, Pour it in, and then re-start the machine. Putting it in before you start the cycle will stain clothes/make detergent useless.
Looks like the agitator should go clockwise more often than counter-clockwise to get the clothes to rotate through the tub. If it just goes left-right equally, clothes don't move top to bottom.
I didn't see where you added the fabric softener. That's was my whole purpose to watching this.

I just got one and I LOVE this washer! It cleans the clothes beautifully! I take the agitator out for my quilts and it worked wonderfully. Also, if you put it on NORMAL with a deep fill, it will fill up with a good bit of water. The only downside is no fabric softener dispenser, but my clothes still come out fresh and I just use sheets in the dryer.
it has no fabric softener dispenser, but why does it have the option for it?
You shouldn’t use fabric softener to begin with; it builds up in the machine over time and dirties it. Try vinegar instead
@@rebeccagordon7051 Sorry, but I've used liquid fabric softener for the last 25 years and never had that problem. From what I've seen, that's a myth or old wives tale, whichever one you ascribe to.
Does it have a dispenser for bleach?
The separate detachable piece is called a AUGER shaft with a handle .
This could aide as pulling clothes down to the wash plate. But it's fixed. Meaning as it pulls down clothes ...
but also brings them up.
The true AUGERS are independent.
Meaning when going in the right direction the auger goes one way thus pulling clothes down completely as the wash plate turns in the right constantly.
Also in the comments DaDos.. explains the theory below. I think as well without the handle Auger part ..you get more room for Bulky items such as comforters.. blankets..and sheets. 🌀
The main goal is ...
Even the deep water don't fill up all the way stays about the same
Just got this model and it’s very different from the last one. This video was very helpful and answered a lot of the questions I had. Thank you!
I wish I had my 22 yo Maytag back.
How do you resume after pausing to add a item without restarting the whole cycle over again. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I was hoping someone would make one for machine. I love it so far.
After a few washes in, Ive noticed its just the drain hose bouncing, I put a piece of foam around it and it is so quiet so far!!! :)
Im about to try a blanket without the agitator. This should be interesting!!
my mother got this same model n had no real information about it
SO I APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO !!
😅🙏 thank u much.
I’m also trying to figure out about how to add detergent and fabric softener 🤦♀️
Where do you put your detergent and softner?? I’ve always had a machine that has a tray for each??

When do you add fabric softener?
Not a single answer for this… my previous washer had a spot in top of the agitator to add softener. I guess with these machines you have to use a Downey ball.
Does the washer automatically drain and spin or do you have to out it on this cycle after wash cycle??
Does anyone else have issues with the washer leaving your clothes soaked when the wash completes? I thought the washer would automatically drain and spin the clothes during the wash cycle, but do I have to go back downstairs just to hit drain and spin every time before putting the clothes in the dryer?
Me too
We have this model and the agitator barely moves. We had a repairman come out yesterday and replaced the capacitor and still the same issue. I’ve reset and calibrated it several times, not sure what to do now, any suggestions are welcome?
How to bypass the piece of garbage lid lock?
Our machine sounds more like an ink-jet plotter than a washing machine. Works good though but you never know when the cycle is gonna be over.
thanks for showing this review on this machine I just bought one and was really confused I've had top-loaders in the past and felt like they didn't wash good enough without the agitator but then I have items that are more bulky that the agitators in the way so I thought this concept was a good idea

I appreciate the review. Have you noticed the spin cycle is quieter with a balanced load/more clothes?
Yes. With more clothes, it usually finds a balance and is quieter. The worst is like one pair of jeans and a heavy hoodie. That will rattle a lot. Thankfully, it hasn't walked yet.

How does it work I have one do you have to hit the faucet but before u hold the on button for it to work
I can not get the agitator back in---what is the trick????????????????????????
Where do you put the fabric softener?
You have go buy a Downey softener ball. Don't count on it opening every time. Save yourself and just pour it in at the beginning.
Just replaced a 2005 model Whirlpool Duet front load. It's significantly louder than the Duet.
Many thanks for the video! Very useful!
Quick question: do you have to put the laundry detergent inside the washing machine?
Yes.. it’s annoying 😢
@@susy7914 why?
@@tianamarie989 Because it doesn’t have a softener dispenser..and the downy ball just works with downy softener. It’s kinda anoyying.
That's the answer I'm looking for. Looks like a yes.
How do you remove the actual washer plate? Had some glass pieces break in between the plate.
It was trying to pull the jeans to both sides at the same time because they were across the middle if you had loaded them along the edge around the basket they wouldn't do that it's in the loading instructions.
I guess my review is not what to do. I'll update my description.
where do you put the detergent?
Put detergent in the bottom first prior to putting clothes in the washer.
Where does the detergent go???
can you wash a queen size comforter?
Is there a way to turn on buzzer to tell you it's done
How come my clothes are still dirty after a wash? I tried different cycles too.
There is no option of medium small or large ??
Well for starters you did not load the machine properly and I don't mean that in a rude way but you're actually supposed to load the machine as if there was a post agitator in there putting things around the edges and that way that when it's washing it will Bloom as it's supposed to rolling the clothes over
Well what is the proper way to load it
Good to know mine came in today. Thanks
@@BluebonnetblueTexan637 your welcome hope you enjoy it!
What were they thinking when they designed this crap
I just purchased today this Whirlpool 5057 model. Concerning the jeans not being pulled down without the agitator in place, the included directions specifically say do not load items lengthwise. That may or may not have been in the directions two years ago when this video was made.
Need a diagnostic mode with fault code readings. Can't find anything anywhere
On back of machine there is a tech spec sheet if installer didn't remove it. Basically they assign a value to each of the top lights and when you get into diagnostic mode you add up the blinks and there is a chart to tell you what is wrong. Very frustrating
Where did you download the cycles guide?
www.whirlpool.com/content/dam/global/documents/201910/cycle-guide-w11365837-reva.pdf
I sure could not find the cycle guides
Very useful. I couldn't figure this thing out before the video. TY
Can I use regular powder detergent on this washer?
Would you tell me if you put the fabric softener in the bleach dispenser?
No, don't do that. The instructions are very clear. Bleach in bleach dispenser only. You have to buy a fabric softener ball dispenser. This device somehow releases at the right time (probably the spin). We don't use softener so it doesn't matter to me. I would recommend that if softener is really important to you, look for a machine with a dispenser, or try out the dispensing ball.
I have the same model but it won’t pass the sensing stage and makes a clicking noise
Yes, that part is so confusing and wierd. 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
@@apinspires78 turns out my water hose weren’t connected to the right places and my outlet for the washer didn’t have enough voltage to make it completely start
Is there a reservoir for fabric softener or do I wait and add during the rinse cycle
No reservoir. U add to rinse , stop machine first, do not open lid while machine is operating. Then resume cycle by pressing start again. Keep the manual you got at hand , and download cycle guide at whirlpool.com
It’ll tell u all u need to know.
ella's right. You have to do it manually. We don't use softener (or dryer sheets) so it isn't a dealbreaker for us. It may be for some people.
@@ella8874 do you add detergent in the beginning or does it have to be pods?
@@jillianstevenson4264 hi, yes you add detergent first, then clothes. It seems weird, but that’s the design. I am currently using HE liquid detergent, will move on to pods once that’s finished, just to change things up. Make sure you are using HE detergent only. It is designed to rinse and leave no residue, since the machine uses less water, even while in deep water mode.
I use deep water mode often, unless it’s a super small load. But I never over load my machine anyway.
I can not get my deep fill to work. Am I doing something wrong?
No it's just piece of shit machine
The only good top loader anymore is Speed Queen!! Can’t believe a brand like Whirlpool put this junk out there!
Why does it stop after you put your clothes in and the water goes in and it just sits there
If you add the load inside balanced it don’t make noise at all.
I believe with cloths would be best with the agitator. With it out is best for comforter's
I just purchased mine on Aug. 13, 2022 from LOWES have used it 6 times and it stopped working during cycle and won't spin out. i loved the machine up until this point.
I have been trying to find the agitator for throw machine. Anyone know where I can buy it
