Ben you are amazing!! If it wasn’t for your videos I probably would have thrown my washer out the window! It’s fixed because of you!! Thank you thank you thank you!!
Great video! Thanks so much for the clear and simple instructions. I’m pretty sure I have some threads wrapped around the center but under the wash plate and if I can just get the wash plate off I can remove the threads. Project for Saturday!
I did this video for a GE washer 2 years ago as an afterthought. The video did reeeeaaally well so I figured this would be good to release, given I did it anyway for the video review of this same washer
@@bensappliancesandjunk Hi! I don’t if know anything about dishwasher, my rack are rusted, never had to deal with this before, what dishwasher that would not rust ? Thanks!
Much appreciated, you explain things very well. Thanks. My Maytag agitator it’s different. It’s long , but hollow on the inside with what appears to be one bolt that holds it down in the center. I’m trying to get to the gears underneath and I think it’s stripped out, based on another video you posted.
Yet, Whirlpool never mentioned not to put in a heavy load into their washer because it will strip the washer plate and when it strips the washer plate stub it'll make you think the washing machine just blew up. Of course I didn't register my machine less than 2 years ago. Sucks. Oh, The washing machine plate costs $ 131.00 as of 11/21/24
We have some hair ties and debris underneath the wash plate so I need help pulling that out. Thanks for the video. Now I need to find out what the weird noises whenever the faucet sprays.
Everything works pretty good except when it starts agitating. It doesn't move very fast and I keep hearing this clicking sound. What is that and what should I replace to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated. 🙂
My question is regarding the agitator- I’m noticing lint building up and coming out of the little holes in the bottom. My attempt at cleaning included spraying water into the holes and then banging it in the sink and pulling whatever was visible out of the holes. 😮
I just had my washer serviced it was leaking water underneath and the service guy from whirlpool pool told me that I can not wash a comforter in this washer is that true?
Please help, Can’t find many videos on these washers. Mine is a direct drive, i turn it on and it is just stuck on sensing, you hear a hum like it is trying to engage but nothing happens. Just a continued hum and it just says sensing. Got three errors in the fault screen. F6E3(says to unplug or cycle breaker for 5 minutes), F7E7(which is the spin not reaching rpm due to something between tub and basket or an unbalanced load, i think it was just unbalanced from the towels we had in before), and an F7E3 error which says the clutch engaged the basket during a wash cycle, i think this is my issue, the clutch burnt up or something obstructing it, my question is how to get to the clutch on this machine? Excuse the long drawn out comment. Just clarifying all the faults
Hi Ben, we noticed some black flakes coming off on our clothes despite bleach/descaler cycles. Thinking it might be from under the agitator plate.... if we take apart, clean, and put the same plate back in, will we need to use that blue stuff on the screw?
Yeah I'm skeptical about this design also. I sell apps at the blue hardware store they also have those new pet Maytags that I'm not really sure how they're supposed to work.
Washer & Dryer Money did a video on one. It has a filter in the agitator. Seems like it works but for the price it sure looks like a gimmick. Same transmission system as this and basically same features for $200-300 more... If WP/MT was smart, they'd of used the filter system as an adaptable head so you could swap them all as needed to do whatever you want. Agitator, pet agitator, wash plate.
@@bensappliancesandjunk Technically I think you could swap this agitator or the pet pro right into a cheaper whirlpool WTW4950, as long as it has the plastic bottom
Ive got all the way until it’s time to remove the disc I tried using the trampoline hook like you did in the video but without any luck I can’t get it to come up … any tips that I can try ?
Right now, GE. Most WPs are bad, and the transiton to R600 is going very poorly. Sadly the other brand that may be OK is Samsung... just make sure no icemaker and few features like the Bespoke
I have a question. Is the plate cap with the spring supposed to stay in the washer after removing the agitator? Our plate cap keeps popping out. I do not know what to do with it and the manual says nothing about it at all. Does anyone else have this issue?
What on earth are they thinking at Whirlpool? Somebody up top needs to redirect the path that they are on. There was a time when Whirlpool stood for longevity and quality materials and build. Even their Kitchen Aid stand mixers aren't what they used to be.
@@ronalddevine9587 Yes the 2n1 might wear out, But they all use Plastic. Speed queen uses plenty of plastic, china-made parts, Made in Mexico stuff in there, and cheap wiring/computer boards. I'd argue that Whirlpool/Maytag is better than many.
I have been looking for this video forever thank you so much I now know how not to break the wash plate!!!!

WOW! Thanks my Mom has one of this product.
Where can I find the spanner nut wrench? I've looked all over and have had no luck
Is there a filter I can clean on this if so where is it having draining issues

My clothes are coming out with gray lint all over them every wash. Is there a trap I can clean? The unit is barely used and barely 2 years old😢
Same. It was a lot of gunk in my spring

i have the same washer and i checked the agitator and did everything in the video but the side walls arnt spinning, what could be the issue?
I am unable to get the bolt off in order to remove the wash plate
Same here, did you ever get it off? The bolt is just unscrewable.
@@JavaScriptorian nope I didn’t

And if so what blue threadlocker do you recommend? I saw one on amazon called Permatex Blue Threadlocker Medium strength
thanks Ben! 💦
I want to take my agitator out. Can the agitator be switched for just a cap??
+1 to this question! I would like to know if I can replace this 2 in 1 with an agitator that has a fabric softener dispenser (vinegar in my case).
I got the cap off and bolt out, but the plate wont come off. What do i do now?
Yep, me too. Thing will not pull off.

A skinny flat head in each hole to push outward and disengage each side. The spring should pop it right up. Don't just hook it and pull.
Thank you
Pretty cool shirt brother man, are you going to sell those?
If so I’m in… well, if it fits 😊
We can’t remove the wash plate for nothing. Any suggestions? We used a similar tool like you used.
I put agitator in and pulled up
I used horse hoof picks.
I did the add agitator back on then hit the hell out of the thing with a rubber mallet. After some stress release it popped off.
We can’t get ours off either.
I bought a GE. Done

No, its what on earth are they thinking over at the Stupid EPA! water and energy regulations make things harder for these companies.

I was referring to the plastic parts not having a long life . Other manufacturers have used metal where Whirlpool uses plastic.

At least easy to get parts, but still junk.
yup, I have one of these and the plastic failed on the mating lugs of the washer plate to the agitator after only a few months of use.
This washer is garbage
