before this came out, I was afraid that dub music would ruin the intense moment. But they used original ost to show how important it was. This is first time I prefer dub over sub in pokemon
@@jetguy128 makes sense thought when you realize a lot of the people working on it probably grew up with pokemon too, specifically the OG run. They've been waiting just as long for this moment
My fiancé knows how much Pokemon has been a consistent since my childhood I’m now 32 so when this was going on she watched on with me and when that OG intro came in a I cried she was so confused
I can think of two further examples in To Be A Pokémon Master: using I Choose You in that one episode with the moon, and using the piano rendition instrumental of the theme song as Ash goes on his journey without us.
I love how Volt Tackle is such an iconic Pikachu finisher move that they were basically like "I know we got rid of Volt Tackle, but fuck it, he can do it anyway with Thunderbolt." I remember all the speculation when these episodes were first coming out in Japan. We saw a bit of the black lightning in the preview, and people thought Pikachu was going to pull out his special super move from Let's Go Pikachu.
A cool easter egg in this fight is that Pikachu gets the black lightning flickers that only ever appeared when Pikachu fought off the hoard of Spearow in episode 1
"I CAN FEEL IT! IT'S THE INTRO" This is EXACTLY how I felt when the song kicked in. I was literally holding back tears because the moment was just perfect.
If anyone is curious Pokémon do officially poop. The Pokédex entry for Darumaka in Pokémon White, X, and Omega Ruby states that Darumaka's dropping are hot and people in the past used to use them to keep warm. The Pokédex entry for Diglett in Pokémon Moon states that many farmers cherish and nurture Diglett because its droppings enrich the soil it lives in. The Pokédex entry for Turtonator in Pokémon Moon and Shield mention its explosive dung/droppings. Additionally the Pokédex entry for Guzzlord in Pokémon Moon specifically mentions that its lack of dropping is unusual, indicating that Pokémon that eat normally also poop.
I'm grinning ear to ear watching you watch this. Right there with you, man--I fell in love with this show when it was first on Kids WB, stopped watching early in Johto, came back for this and it was like a truck made of childhood crashing into my face. Also, your dog coming to check on you was so sweet!
I love how the battle between Ash's Pikachu and Leon's Charizard literally came to a head. Seeing Charizard reel backward after colliding head-to-head with Pikachu made my mouth drop open. Even more so when it passed out and we hear the words "Charizard is unable to battle". Also, I had an observation: It looked like Ash revisited his Rock Tomb Climb strategy from when he had a Gym Battle against Grant's Onix during his travels through the Kalos Region when Charizard used Ancient Power the second time. In my opinion, this is where Ash realized his dream of being a Pokémon Master.
I used the pandemic to catch up with the anime. I remember seeing up until the Johto League, so in April 2020 I started to see every episode. A year and some time later, I got to Journeys in its 60th episode (the evolution of Sirfetch'd) and I followed it since. I saw this episode live (5 am in my country) and I cried all day long. To be able to see this, to feel so alive and to see fulfilled one of my dreams as a child really hit me. The story of Horizons is cool, hope you catch up with it too.
In later episodes Ash gives a different definition of Pokémon master. So you can interpret it as a never ending dream rather than him just wanting to be the strongest trainer but you'd need to watch those later episodes to see what Ash says about it.
Ah i love the episode. The final attack is so amazing. I watched it with sub and og japanese intro and even tho it was my first time hearing it I got super emotional too. I will probably rewatch this part so many times 😂 Also the animation was top notch!
I wish the pokemon company would allow comments on their official video of this... I'd love to read everyone else's feelings about this moment. I watched it with my wife and cried so much. All the memories of 20 years of playing pokemon rushed back. So special.
After so many years, after losing nearing every single regional league battle, winning the Orange Island League, Becoming an honorary frontier Brain, winning his first regional league championship in Alola, and becoming a savior to the world, he has reached a level that not a lot of people can’t even reach, Ash is Pokémon World Champion!!!!!!!!
Me and my brother were hanging and after his kids went to bed, he asked what to do. And I had seen Cynthia v ash at this point and knew he won the whole thing....so I suggested The final tournament. We ended up power watching everything up to here. I love my brother and this is my favorite memory I will cherish. The whole tournament arc is amazing. A true delight to the fans and non fans....because all of the fights have been ultra hype
Wonder if there gonna watch the final series with ash in it. Not to many episodes, but I definitely enjoyed it especially with there being old friends & stuff popping up in each episode. Cant wait for the new series & see if it holds up to ash's adventures
The way that I described this match was a full circle moment. Sure it had it's flaws. Would've preferred Ash to use his reserves in this fight knowing what we know now involving the character. I'm a Day 1 fan of this franchise. If people don't recognize the move that Ash's Pikachu used during. It was B-Thunderbolt. The tie in move from Pokemon Masters EX. Satisfied was an understatement. In regards to Eternatus to fill in some gaps. There was a 4 part near the end of the first season of Pokemon Journeys. It was neat.
Pokemon XY and XYZ is the best series in Pokemon imo. It has great direction, usage of cg background for dynamic camera, amazing cast, less filler, full of sad moments, growth and just amazing animation throughout the show.
Its kinda funny how often people say Pokemon is designed to move on from kid to kid every region it kinda resets cause so does the fanbase. but this series was a bit of a celebration of all that came before. and Nothing is better than going back to the beginning. The fact that the is series in able to use the series original opening theme for the japanese and Western version is nothing incredible. The made this not just for kids who were currently into pokemon. but for anyone whos ever said to themselves they wanted to be a pokemon master. TO see Ash become the very best like no one ever was after all these years. its perfect.
Finally, they gave us a satisfying ending to Ash's journey to be the very best! If you're looking to go back and watch some of the previous seasons, the Pokémon XY and XY&Z anime still has some of my favorite episodes (especially with the Ash-Greninja arc). I loved watching through that series in the original Japanese with subtitles. I highly recommend watching that series if you get a chance.
I stopped Pokémon after gen 4. I came back during journeys because the series felt different. By this point in time I was so glad I came back to the series. When the S1 intro played I was ecstatic
I was there for this moment. Ash ketchum destiny has been fulfilled! He's now champions of the world! LET'S GOOOOOO!!! I've been through ups and downs with him from battle. The villains win pokémon league in Alola, and now in Galar, he's got the world title. This is for you Pokémon fans! Everyone around the world has exploded. We get what we wanted! Ash is the world champion for the first time in the beginning ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!
they really said we're gonna put 2 icons(Pikachu&Charizard) of Pokemon franchise in an epic clash that doesn’t have anything to do with game mechanics....also F*** it, play the OG opening
Yall need to react to the Darkest Day Arc, it's 4 Episodes long, and it could fill in the gaps around Eternatus. Also, 2:00, when yall mentioned do Pokémon use the bathroom... its been officially confirmed that Pokémon excrete their waste (Pee and Poop) thru the use of their Moves.
It's a shame that an episode so epic starts with my biggest problem in this battle: Ash never having to figure out how to beat Libero Cinderace. The very first thing established in Ash vs Leon is that Pikachu can't do much to Ground-type Cinderace, so I figured he'd need another Pokemon to deal with Cinderace...that didn't happen. Watching this week to week, going into this episode, I thought Pikachu would beat Charizard as a symbolic victory, but be too beat up to deal with the bad matchup still waiting for it afterwards. Instead Leon instantly switched Cinderace in and just chooses not to use a ground move. Signature G-Max moves are admittedly hype, but play to your outs
Well gmax fireball does 80-94.7% to pikachu where as max quake only does 47.8-56.8% of damage so while he would of resisited next move maybe he was trying to end it faster
@@octopus1992mv Even when you apply game numbers to it, that sure looks a lot like NOT 100%, so I'll take my chances with electric-immunity now and finish with my stronger attack next turn
There were some stupid things but overall it was very good!! Not only in this battle but in previous ones also.. Cynthia vs Ash was amazing but even there we saw Cynthia not using mega grachom and also generally draco meteor is the final of Cynthia..against Iris and also sirfeth. But writers went for dragon claw (pretty obvious reason--Reversal) but the presentation of all things was extremely good......here it was a clear loop-hole. Well we already knew that ash was going to win the championship.... You have to give some plot hole as he was the main character!!! Honestly saying I wanted to see Cynthia vs Ash in finals. From the animation point of view Leon was completely new whereas Cynthia was old and only champion who appeared regularly in anime. They went leon maybe for the marketing of sword and shield!!!!
Well Now yall can go back to the beginning of the Anime after y'all get done with the ultimate Journeys and the end of Ash's Journey through the Anime and this is defiantly the Very Best Episode of Pokemon that no Episode ever was
ash finally became a true anime protagonist by having the opening play during the final battle
The original btw the way. The one that brought us all together.
I agree. The original was just so beautiful and a perfect way to close out Ash’s amazing journey.

I love how during the final battle with the theme song coming in, it was like watching two ten year olds super exicted on Saturday Morning.
That opening song kicking in when I tell you I SOBBED
Tears streamed down my face bro 😭
And the animetion was so good 😭
the first time when I preferred dub to sub.

There are very few examples of the localization crew understanding the assignment with insert songs.
Here? They understood the assignment

This is peak Pokémon anime. This easily gets a score of 11/10.
