- From fiery flames to GTR glory. In-car lap at end of video.
With 950whp at 32 PSI from a Nissan RB28, the R32 Xtreme GTR was one of the stand out build/rebuilds of the 2018 World Time Attack Challenge. Tipping the scales at 1340kg wet, a lot of work has gone into making the chassis lighter with every panel being built with dry carbon by Topstage Composites. The 2.8L engine runs a billet block, Nitto 2.8 stroker crank, CP Carrillo rods, SPS pistons and is lubricated by a Hi-Octane dry sump system.
A 6870 Precision Turbo, Turbosmart wastegate and Hypertune Plenum bring the car's output up to 950whp at 32 PSI on ethanol fuel via an Aftermarket Industries fuel cell, however the power delivery is focused on torque being delivered in the right places to help pull the car out of the corners and not a large outright number.
An Albins ST6-I 6 speed sequential helps get power to the ground via the Nissan transfer case to retain the cars 4wd ability. A MoTeC electronics package including 2 x PDM15’s, C187 dash and M150 ECU are the brains of the operation with MCA suspension and AP Pro calipers helping to round off the suspension and brake packages.
With the goal of running the car and starting to gather data to dial things in for the future, the 2018 WTAC was a success for owner and drivers Michele and Mark Guyer and we’re excited to see them again in 2019.

Grab your own HPA t-shirt here, or just fist fight Andre for his next time you see him on the street, your call: shop.hpacademy.com/ - Taz.
High Performance Academy what an absolute complete package. I wonder how many road going GTRs have switched to DBW throttle. Just seems like a no brainer these days. Would love to build a road car with a comprehensive electronics package like this!
I will fight Andre where does he train at.
Couldn't fight the main man have way to much respect for him you guys have no idea how much you have helped me in the past, the info you share trying to get that from a forum was impossible, you guys have given me the ability to actually have fun and enjoy tuning, still hobby for me 💨
Love that on board footage 😍 (and the technical detail of course)
Yes we were lucky with in-car footage from this years event and managed to get it for almost every car we went over with help from the teams. Stoked! There were some great Miatas/MX5's there too ;) - Taz.
@@hpa101 That's awesome, I'm hoping to visit Australia for WTAC this year or next, it's one of my favorite events!
Damn,it makes a really orgasmic harmony...the engine sound, the transmission sound, the "clack" when shifting sound, the wobble of engine sound in last corner.....
I love it!
The way it cornered in the end was so intense. I thought for sure he was headed off track but somehow the front end pulled itself around at the last second. Great driver and a brilliant race car.
Yeah she held it together well! Excited to see her progression with the car next year too. Watch this space :) - Taz.
@@hpa101 is the atessa 4wd system still working the same way as factory? If so, that'll be why it pulled itself back into line as the front wheels are only driven when the rears loose grip :)
WOW great video .
Available since 1989 and still getting better and quicker
@5:03 the fun begins!
Oh man, I love when Kiwis say 'deck'.

I'm ok with that. I'm American and we definitely have the worst English accents by a long way, lol.
@@latemnf haha I wouldn't say that. I think every country has a few regions/states where the accents are a bit heavy and hard to get to grips with and others that seem to be a bit 'lighter'.
Personally I enjoy hearing different accents rather than the same ones all the time but for some people it's the opposite. Is what it is. Glad you know that deck video though, it's awesome XD
This one also did the rounds a few years back: ua-cam.com/video/ZdVHZwI8pcA/v-deo.html - Taz.
Awesome looking car. That sound of the 2.8....
Thank you for the full lap of
Onboard footage! Amazing car! There's something about an inline 6 that makes me feel all tingly.
Always amazing videos..
I find it really sad that people in youtube don't appreciate the quality of your content, The views are much lower than what suppose to be.
I Just ordered 2 T-shirts from your store , is the easiest way of supporting this Amazing Channel.
Keep going strong..
Thank tenissabbalas! We're steadily growing and appreciate the support. I have a ton of content to release from WTAC and PRI and we are adding a few new events this year that we have not been to before so I'm sure we'll keep on seeing people like yourself discovering HPA throughout the year, woo!
We'll get your shirts bundled up for you and I'll make sure there are a few stickers in there for you too =) - Taz.
The way it digs into the corners🙀
such a beautiful build. love all the little details like the logo on the dash when powered on
Motec or AEM dash all can be programmed to your custom logo when power up. At a price.
the fact that they made a logo & spec’d it in shoes they have a passion for the build
That transmission was money!!!!
How fast were those straights? Absolutely flying
Do more videos with the full lap of the car its awesome to learn and watch a car rip down a track
Amazing car! Great driving and fantastic team.the best sound too!! Great footage!
The king of kings
Beautiful work HPA : )
Thanks Nie, glad you enjoyed it :) - Taz.
That R32 GTR is dialed in! My God! It's going to break some records with that setup. What's the weight with all the carbon panels?
Just love that car. They did such a nice job with it.
Amazing car and another amazing vid by HPA
Awesome. Love RB's
Amazing Taz thanks wht a monster
Billet block are the best
Do in time attack cars use wider front track or wider rear??
Was the billet block chosen purely for saving weight? Whats up with factory block at that power level ? It's interesting info as u had that Evo bloke few vids back saying cast he likes sticks to.
That is one sexy build...
Thx
They running a torque split converter in it?
What caused the engine bay fire ?
Just AWESOME
and the weigth? so much dry carbon and lightweight, but you dont says any number
when is the channels r32 gtr build project coming?!
Good question! We have a wee RX7 and the 350srz to finish before we get stuck into that again. All of the parts are here, just need more hours in a day. We still have to put the Kelford Cam in the L98/LS2 car as well. It will happen though! ;) - Taz.
Wow
So to my understanding. So the billet block is a 2.6L but fitting the stroker kit makes it a 2.8L.
It def impressive to see a 950 whp full carbon fibre body R32 tearing the track.
The main advantage of the billet block to to almost remove the chances of the block cracking when subjected to high boost and engine knocking induced damages.
Thou i would love to see some teams run the stock cast iron blocks like the RB26, RD28 and RB30.
With good machining, ultra sonic testing and offset boring and a strong engine bracing. The stock block will take a huge amount of punishment before it starts developing issues down the line.
If money is no object. I would love to create my own World time attack R34 GTR with the pros from Platinum Racing and Halltech for the engine and ECU controls.
Keep in mind the factory castings weight in time attack is a drawback regardless of power
@@SkatersOfTheNorth depending on the class. Street class only allow 5% weight reduction. For open class, only upto 15%. Pro class will allow up to 20%.
Seen many open class still retain the stock block but use carbon body panels for weight reduction.
@@linchester8464 Goes to show my ignorance as far as time attack goes! Didn't know there were percentage restrictions
docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/378ef4_2996c67de254404f94763f61a7b2e2a1.pdf
Its nearly 45% lighter than cast - pretty impressive stuff!!
@@JH-jo9wt is thata virus?
Bullet Race has billet block RB26 for 14 grand
Oof!
Odd... Was no mention that PMC Race Engines built the RB28det... ?
Yes we don't always have the chance to mention every company involved no matter if they were paid for the work/parts or sponsored them, however, I did tag them on the FB version :) - Taz.
@@hpa101 Fair enough! Great video btw :)
Strange Gauge Gear Lever
turbo rebuild after every lap?
Uhm... is it just my impression or does 1340KG still seem kinda heavy considering all the carbon etc.?
Yeah it is, my factory one is 1430 dry. With no interior, alloy block and carbon panels you'd be hoping for 1100 surely
They still managed to save almost 100kg with a huge cage and all safety equipment but yeah was expecting a tad lighter
Taken from the WTAC website for Open Class: "Weight reduction plays a big part in this class as these cars are permitted to reduce their tare weight by up to 15%"
The Group A R32's by Gibson Motorsport homologated at 1260 Kg, and they had barely any carbon fibre in those cars. So yeah, it's still quite heavy.
Just think of all the extra parts on this car .
Some music would be nice, specially during the onboard footage
j/k, replayed with headphones on
For a second there i was thinking wtf... got me
Kinda surprised you never made a video of the famous Dahlback VW Golf.
Was it at World Time Attack Challenge? - Taz.
High Performance Academy no, it’s an old build. Like, 15 years or something. But still very beast.
We haven't been around that long ;) If it ever makes a comeback and we see it at WTAC the team will do their best to take a nose - Taz.
Do track limits not matter at WTAC? (genuine question)
I would assume they have some rules in place like "two wheels on track" but it might only matter in some corners where it's deemed to be a advantage... also it's possible the shots where it ran wide were from a out lap (you sometimes take a wider line to gather more speed during the warm up lap) I don't run WTAC, tough so take it with a grain of salt.
There's no limits during the event
@@toddxhiggins that's cool, thanks Todd!
Love it
That's beautiful.
Time?
Currently 11:58 am NZST - Taz.
Single throttle body because of motec m1 Speed density software package 🙈🙈🙈🙈
