The Ariel Nomad is unlike almost anything you can buy - it is as much fun off road as it is on tarmac. Matt Prior loved it, as you can see in his video verdict.

why are the soft springs mounted up in the front while the ones in the back are mounted under the longer springs? What's the readon behind that?
+Odium47 The front wheels have lots more going on in that they need to steer as well. It could be a clearance issue or something because, you are right, that's not ideal because having the softer springs on top, in effect, increases unsprung weight. If you look at 2:25 it looks like there would be a clearance issue with the tie rod. The damper body is narrower so I would figure they mounted it upside down to gain clearance for steering components. (as you approach full lock the tie rod will be drawn in closer to the shock body)
This isn't a serious, hard core off road car so that's not a big deal. That little short spring isn't going to add much unsprung weight. Getting the steering geometry they wanted probably won out over 1.5 extra pounds of unsprung weight. The weight of the spring itself would be more important in something like an all out desert race car that has springs that are 3 feet long & weigh 10 pounds or more.
Anyways, I am rambling. I used to race a class 10 desert car & I have been stuck at home with an extended illness & bored out of my head so I will talk your ear off about suspension or chassis geometry. Anyways, Good eye. I went back & watched again after your comment. I totally missed that.

Wait until graphene sheet batteries hit the market, I fell after that point, a lot of performance cars will switch to electric.
whilst i love the tesla cars and how epically fast they can be they will never sound as good as a petrol car, what they need to do is concentrate on bio fule as well as electric so people can still own a petrol car and be carbon neutral.
