I thought I heard good sounding 4 cylinders before but this is in a league of its own. I can't imagine any muscle car enthusiast to feel anything but love for this machine
@@scook2003 Not silly, is a comparison for know how fast its. People know how fast is Golf GTI so we understand better the difference, but never lack silly people saying "its unfair, its a family car...".
That's a hell of a lot of money for a track toy. But the way it drives, the way it sounds and how it feels (how he's describing it) just makes it feel worth it. What a beast! :)
True, but then again, look at all the $$100k+ trailer queens! This thing can most likely run laps around built cars (depending). She is quite a sexy track car though!
I've had the pleasure of getting in a R300 superlight....and even that was terrifyingly fast. I can't even begin to imagine what 0-60 in 2.79 seconds feels like.
Hi and thanks for these video! That is exactly what I call a Car, or The Car! The sound, the revs, acceleration give smile and maybe fear, but it is so good!!! Each time I see these video, Tears of Pleasure come! Forza!!! ♥️😉👍👌
I'm 6'2" and 250lb with size 13 feet. With a bag seat and some pedal adjustment I can drive relatively comfortably for hours in the standard s3 chassis. (For motorsport, I also needed to fit a higher roll cage due to helmet/rollcage clearance requirements).
great video mate...love it from 2.00-2.10 your a natural and and make the video very enjoyable to watch........I like Chris Harris but I reckon you were superb in this video, love the passion. I hope Australia sees this because there will be one in my garage. Unfortunately though it doesnt pass Australian regs at this time........watch this space. Cheers
A few chaps from the UK took my son and I for a lap around LaSarth in a pair of Caterhams, both on Avon racing slicks! It was around 1am, and the morning of the 2004 24 Hours of LeMans. I'll never forget going around the traffic circle sideways, looking over my left shoulder, and seeing the other car tucked in tight behind us, ALSO IN A DRIFT. My 12 year old son was grinning ear to ear. He was used to this sort of stuff, from riding in my Viper. 😄
I’ve got a beautiful 1997 Caterham Super Seven for sale, only $35,000. The engine was just rebuilt. We have loved it for 13 years. It’s in New Hampshire. Just to let you know.
Just search youtube for caterham crash. They crash very very regularly in the race series and hold up incredibly well. The key though is that a car that handles and stops this well avoids the crash in the first place.
Diogo, if height is an issue, try an MNR instead. Those guys are so particular that they actually insist that you visit the factory so they can measure up the chassis for you, including ensuring that the roll-bar or roll cage is suitable for somebody of your height (including helmet) and setting the pedal position. With Caterham, you do have the option of lowered floors and the SV chassis, but as far as I recall, about 6'5" is about the maximum.
only the outer shape of chassis is the same , all the in between is completely redesigned but is a natural progression of what came first . superb cars . superb concept both old and new ..ive welded together quite a few :)
Two of my friends have had caterhams and even the 1.4 version is incredible. I just wish the people doing this kind of video would drive them as they should be driven. Yes the slides look great but ease off the power and it'll corner like it's on rails. Also when showing the 0-60 time don't bounce it off the rev limiter...that just slows you down. Would love to have any of the caterhams but you need a place with a garage
Alert: Driver's car. Why can't automakers stick to Colin Chapman's idea of lightweight cars?? We'd all be happy driving lightweight cars with light engines. No gasoline troubles, no weight troubles, no 0-60 issues and no handling issues. The world of automotive would be such a gr8 place. We miss you Colin Chapman.
No Dan, it's the 2 litre Ford Duratec engine as in the current R500, but yes, . . . with a supercharger :O) It's the CSR models that have the 2.3 Cossie-tweaked Ford Duratec
Sutcliffe unveils proper cornering technique: brakes - downshift - turn in - ADJUST YOUR SUNGLASSES - apply opposite lock. Why, you ask? Because he can. (And because the soddy glasses just won't sit on his face).
The Caterham super seven is no stranger in the US,a respected car no doubt, lets not forget its other British rival-the Westfield super seven! Westfield also made the fabulous Lotus11 replica.
Still one of my favorite videos on UA-cam. Steve, you're a legend.

Up to 9000 Rpm Whoooooooooooooo
I would get in way too much trouble with one of these
Sounds brilliant, as well.
every caterham i come across sounds amazing. i had not heard of this make until just recently, but i'm quickly becoming a big fan.

Isn't saying the Caterham slays a Volkswagen Golf a bit like saying a Ferrari slays a Ford Focus?
Yep, silly. Purpose built sports car beats practical family car. Amazing....

Very sexy car

Skylar Garrett lol yh well.......... as long as it's not driven in the rain or the snow then there should be no worries driving it daily :P
Victor Pitts True. I can agree with that :)
This is the top of the line model, it starts at 18k

One of my favourite Autocar reviews ever
I will never get bored of this video, and the sound in my ears 💕
I want this thing more than a porsche, a ferrari oder a lamborghini.
Awesome!
I've don't know when or where I became crazy about these little cars, but getting to ride in one is on my bucket list
Yeah, in the 80s, I drove a Lotus 7 with (I think) a 1 litre Ford engine. It was a ton of fun, but probably not as fast as this one.
This is the kind of performance that is usually restricted to superbikes.
I've had the pleasure of getting in a R300 superlight....and even that was terrifyingly fast. I can't even begin to imagine what 0-60 in 2.79 seconds feels like.
like falling from a cliff
Love the sequential gearbox, Steve clearly had to work overtime to keep the power in check, what a stunningly good motorcar ^_^
Steve's such an understated journo. He's the nuts . And an awesome driver !!!
