  • "How bad are winters in New Brunswick?" that's one of the top question I get asked by people looking to relocate to this province. Believe it or not it's not that bad, and winter in New Brunswick can actually be quite enjoyable...if you have the right mindset. From skating on the lake, hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and winter festivals, the amount of activities you can do, will definitely keep you busy and enjoying the colder months.Take a look!

    Winters in the maritimes are brutal. Lots of snow, very windy and cold.

      @@Kanadaauswandern I've lived in Vancouver BC and Prince Albert Sask as well and you can't compare a dry cold(Sask) with a damp cold(BC and PE)keeping in mind she's trying to selll properties and is putting a positive spin on the cold winters.

      This is my fifth winter in NB, and mildest to date. Maybe we've been lucky, but I haven't found the winters to be too bad in NB :)

    Winters in Saint John NB are unpredictable. But in the past 20 years 1 in 5 is really bad. 2023-24 we had zero snow storms. The last really bad winter was 2013-14. That’s a long time ago. Is it more snow on average than Toronto probably, but when your mortgage payment is at least $1500/month less you can probably afford a snow blower or a plow, and a winter vacation.

    Great video. There's so much to enjoy about winters in New Brunswick (I'm just outside of Saint John). Although slightly cooler on average than Toronto, our winters are slightly more mild than Ottawa or Montreal.

    I’m 63 and this has been the wimpiest winter I can remember. December was like October, January was a piece of cake. Snowmobiling and skiing are non-existent or terrible. Good news, I’m caught up on my power bill in February for the first time in ages.

    It depends on body adaptability. You guys hav been living there since birth so ur body is adjusted.
    For someone like me, I ws born in a desert of India where 35C is yearly average.
    I have run 10k in 46C and I can work long hrs in extreme heat. But if temperature goes below 25C I start shivering.
    I'm moving to New brunswick next month and i'm really scared. never been in a temperature below 20C and never seen snow in my life.

    • @JennyCelly
      @JennyCelly  Рік тому +3

      Hi Desi, I completely understand your concern. I was actually born in Colombia. One of the hottest countries in South America. I also thrive in the summer but the secret to not having a negative experience in the winter cold is to layer well and use good thermal clothing - boots, gloves, hats, snow pants and even balaclavas. You might feel silly with so much clothing but at least you’ll be warm. Nothing to fear 😊 Winters can be fun and beautiful too if you dress warm and have a positive attitude to enjoy the cold ☃️

    My wife and I live in small town central British Columbia. I won't say exactly where. When people ask, I tell them the winters are brutal: deep, deep snow and unimaginably cold. This IS kinda true, but I don't mention that we love it here. Oh, and the mosquitos and black flies in summer! Stay in the city, folks. It's hell out here!

    As a young couple thinking of moving to NB,we thank you for this informative video ! I was also wondering if winters in NB are very humid ? Did you have any trouble with dampness and mold indoors?

    • @JennyCelly
      @JennyCelly  Рік тому

      Thanks for your comment Dia 🙂 Winters here are not humid, on the contrary, winter humidity is much more challenging in the colder months because as the furnace runs, it tends to dry out the air. This causes dry skin, throat irritation, and more. To combat this, many Canadians turn to humidifiers, to increase the relative humidity in their home. Our summers are definitely humid but air exchangers in homes definitely help control the levels.
