Born, raised, and still living here (Moncton). The tides will never get old. My fondest memories with my mom and dad (RIP Dad) are on the bay of Fundy. I remember my mom and I with a bucket collecting tiny shells on the sand, playing skeeters with shale rocks, watching flocks of sand pipers wisp about in the air (Dorchester Wharf, which is still bay of Fundy). We built our chimney for our house with massive stones from various beaches around new Brunswick. I remember walking with my parents when I was 11 picking what stones were best. Watching sunsets on the water, the familiar golden-orange hue. New Brunswick. My home.

I am originally from Halifax, and spent 7 years in Newfoundland, but when we were going to move back to Halifax, Maclean's magazine did a story on Moncton, calling it the number 1 small metropolitan city in Canada with over 100,000 people, due to the cost of living, low crime and complete amenities.
So on a whim, we decided to move here, on the outskirts a.k.a. Shediac 3 years ago, and we can not imagine leaving.
While Moncton may not be known for its tourism, that is actually Shediac's claim to fame. This is a tourist town just minutes away from Moncton, due to parlee beach, insane amounts of campgrounds and having the warmest ocean waters on this side of North Carolina.
But what keeps us here is the people. There's just such a overwhelming sense of contentment in the people.
I cannot imagine any other city in the world, where you can be stopped to a set of traffic lights, and the pedestrian waiting to cross the street, will simply smile and acknowledge you, and you just feel that they mean it. It's the same thing walking through one of the shopping areas. People passing you will simply smile, and you just know and feel that they genuinely care about everybody around them.
My God, there are over 20,000 people from Moncton in a Facebook group where its sole purpose is to give things you have to people who need them more than they do.
There's lots of beauty that surrounds it, but the beauty of character in the people of this area are what keep us here :-)

My wife and I are moving to Moncton in 3 weeks by way of San Francisco, where we’d been living for the past 5 years. After the State’s new administration in 2017, we laser-focused on obtaining permanent residency, and a year later, we got it. We purchased a home there sight unseen back in May. This video helped us to decide upon Moncton. It’s great to also read your comment on how incredible the people are in the area. We had originally put in an offer on a home in Shediac but it fell through. Looking forward to our new lives in such a beautiful country.

I was born and raised in Saint john New Brunswick. Have lived in 3 other cities including Toronto. What I have found is that I miss my home town because the people are as you say totally welcoming. Hospitality is so great when you go back east. From east to west you will notice people are not as friendly as they are in Saint John, New Brunswick, Saint John's NFLD and Moncton. These cities offer excitement and the ocean view and places to swim are far more interesting and more fun than any place I know. I have even been to Thailand and Japan, although they are beautiful places to visit they are also scary if you are alone. Because I am Canadian I know the safe cities in this large country. I lived also in Toronto, North York and even China town and Scarborough and Jane and Finch. I have lived in Vancouver, I am living in Alberta and I must say the further east you go the hospitality gets thinner and thinner. Thanks for sharing.

As someone who was born and raised in Moncton and knows all of these places like the back of my hand, this is very cool and very weird. I’m now attending the University of Waterloo and it is nice to see my hometown get some well-deserved recognition. I jokingly talk a lot of crap about it to my new friends I’ve met here since a lot of them don’t know really anything about Moncton, but I love my hometown and am proud to be from Moncton. Loved the video!

Here, anyone can strike up a conversation with a stranger.

In the maritimes it's hard to find an affordable place that will both give you entertainment and a bit of an escape from your usual surroundings. I was almost shocked to see that you chose Moncton to highlight and visit in this video, but I'm so glad to see someone from more central Canada finding the beauty in the city.

I suggest going back to Hopewell Rocks in the spring!! It’s so neat to walk around all of the big icebergs that never made it out with the water. I love living in Moncton!

Happy New Year Moncton, Diepe and Riverview. You are the reason my heart beats faster.
When I graduated from the nearby Mount Allison University, I was as poor as a church mouse but I had good connections and my friend Matt was working with Irving planting trees in Amherst, Nova Scotia and wow, carrying the load of trees was painful but worth it because we got paid $10.00 per hour by then. But, it was just a seasonal job so we got laid off at the end of the summer of 2007. I was like a fish out of water and my friend, Jenna Hirtle(the laughing girl) helped me apply for EI but I was denied...so I moved to Moncton and my good friends, Kelvin Ndoro and his girlfriend at the time took me in for 1 month and got a job in 2 weeks and moved out in time. Good friends are like a lotus flower, the just inspire.

I appreciate this work. This is what I really want to do for my own UA-cam channel. Travel all around Canada and explore and visit any city like Moncton. I'm just hustling right now to save up for those adventures. Thanks for the inspiration gunnarolla!

I've travelled extensively in Canada. I've always thought if I could live anywhere in Canada where would it be? Moncton. I visited Moncton as part of a tour of the maritime provinces with my family in the mid 1980s. For me, Moncton is very similar to a city in my area - Greensboro, NC. Moncton is a moderate priced moderate size city with land to grow as needed. It is a major transit center with trains and highways connecting Halifax through to Montreal. It has plenty of coasts and forests. There are some mountains not too far away.

My favorite place in Moncton used to be our indoor amusement Park called Crystal Palace. That used to be my most precious gem of Moncton. No other amusement park compares ( be it the Crystal Mountain on Elmwood. Bowlarama on Gauvin or Magic Mountain, that fun atmosphere is not there). 😥
