I have watched this video many many times and I still can’t wrap my head around how fucked these dudes are but still seem to be perfectly in time with one another. Every time I have seen them live has been nothing short of awe inspiring. So rad.
CHON is pretty good. Though 'm not even sure if they always count as math rock. LITE and toe are also a couple of my favorites, but they tend to be a darker kind of math rock. You might like em' though.
Is anyone ELSE going crazy that there are no lyrics anywhere for this freakin great song?? **this is all what it sounds like to me at least.....Starting at 0:40 >objects on-my tongue/while you eat yourself ali-hi-hive/took your foot off of the for-ty-five/Second handed to a dar-kest front/into a forest/and that i-cant-tell/ of what is senses that get to-break-out/I CRUNCH NUMBERS/i know your blunder/sometimes **and the second part (starting at 1:56) is >How-can/i miss-you/darlin, while still not try-in to-waste-time&&&/and i-cant-read-it-when-it-says/ HEY! **then at 2:20 it goes a little something like >BREATH-IN-ME. **and thats it.... thanks for reading, if i got any of this right, all credit for listening to this song a bunch of time to understand what the hell Nick's saying goes to me... Vincent Albo. i did it on my own! and it took about two hours and countless times listening to the same lyrics........ I'll never forget these lyrics! da haaa &&& this was THE HARDEST verse for me to understand and i still don't think i got this part is right, live or album version...
wow. from all the versions i've heard of this song.. this takes the cake. very very very clean and perfect sound from you guys. I see progress and it makes me happy.
Never heard of these guys before .. until I was researching a bunch of Earthquaker Devices pedals and saw Nick demo-ing them. He's like an Adrian Belew/Reeves Gabrels type player. Very interesting.
unless i'm totally wrong here, the dd-6 hold function is something you leave your foot on the pedal for, like the pitch shifter bend, so he could conceivably get the effect by having the dd-6 first in his chain, and then the pitch shifter, sending the delayed notes through the pitch shifter, and just hitting both pedals at once
I met nick last night at a Pinback show, he offered to get me on his guest list for their show tomorrow in Indianapolis. This'll be my first time seeing them, I'm so excited
Rainbow Machine? You've obviously have never played one. Considering the time, he was very likely using Digitech Space Station, if you're still wondering.
God I love that pause when Nick is just making the craziest sounds. It's like he had to reload his laser gun aka his guitar before resuming the song.
everyday I thank the world for tera melos
10 years later and this is still my favorite band. Hot Dog Man for life
I have watched this video many many times and I still can’t wrap my head around how fucked these dudes are but still seem to be perfectly in time with one another. Every time I have seen them live has been nothing short of awe inspiring. So rad.
perfect mix of technical skill and creativity
How do they all start at the same time with no countdown? It's incredible
Practice
In ear monitors...
@@TurtleBoxOfficial um no. nobody in the band was even running IEMs lol
It’s likely that the Drummer was using IEMs, and the rest of the band followed the Head movement at the start
Also a ton of practice lol
the more I listen to, the more I fall deeply in LOVE with it
verse sounds like your fast forwarding a rock song on a cd player.
I've watched this in each quality setting on UA-cam... why? Because it's Tera Melos and you can't get sick of them.
First you were ve-gone, now you will be-gone.
...ve-gone?
*headbutt*
K.O.!!!!!!!!!
Vegan Police: -YEEEEEEEEEAH! *hi-five*
....sorry?
you just headbutt my boyfriend so hard he burst.
Best comment here

They were the best doing it by a country mile
Alright yup, best math rock band there is. Stop, don't argue with me.
hella
Shannon Farinas don caballero
CHON is pretty good. Though 'm not even sure if they always count as math rock. LITE and toe are also a couple of my favorites, but they tend to be a darker kind of math rock. You might like em' though.

Is anyone ELSE going crazy that there are no lyrics anywhere for this freakin great song??
**this is all what it sounds like to me at least.....Starting at 0:40
>objects on-my tongue/while you eat yourself ali-hi-hive/took your foot off of the for-ty-five/Second handed to a dar-kest front/into a forest/and that i-cant-tell/ of what is senses that get to-break-out/I CRUNCH NUMBERS/i know your blunder/sometimes
**and the second part (starting at 1:56) is
>How-can/i miss-you/darlin, while still not try-in to-waste-time&&&/and i-cant-read-it-when-it-says/ HEY!
**then at 2:20 it goes a little something like
>BREATH-IN-ME.
**and thats it.... thanks for reading, if i got any of this right, all credit for listening to this song a bunch of time to understand what the hell Nick's saying goes to me... Amazing
And just in case - 'Piglet - Lavaland'
Jasper Hennessey hella
:)
these maths broke my calculator
James R. I don't think they count math or time signatures. They just do it randomly.
I Dig both your comment and your radiator hospital profile picture.
Wow i've never heard smthng like that before wow...
I was blown away how they just started.
I don't know why, but the "Hey!" at 2:04 makes me smile like an idiot. Damn you Tera Melos.
wow. from all the versions i've heard of this song.. this takes the cake.
very very very clean and perfect sound from you guys. I see progress and it makes me happy.
It's been a while since I've listened to Tera Melos, they definitely got a lot better, sounds way cooler live!
This songs makes me smile like a baby.
Absolutely phenomenal musicianship and originality. I want to thank them for always doing what is the true nature of music. :)
The tightest band, the nicest dudes. Hope to see you again soon
"oh wait heres a great riff you'll probably never hear again for the rest of the song."
I love blonde Nick!
Never heard of these guys before .. until I was researching a bunch of Earthquaker Devices pedals and saw Nick demo-ing them. He's like an Adrian Belew/Reeves Gabrels type player. Very interesting.
No way is this undance-able. You are crazy!
unless i'm totally wrong here, the dd-6 hold function is something you leave your foot on the pedal for, like the pitch shifter bend, so he could conceivably get the effect by having the dd-6 first in his chain, and then the pitch shifter, sending the delayed notes through the pitch shifter, and just hitting both pedals at once
Those are some god damn good effects manipulations. :O
god damn you guys are so freaking solid. I never thought you guys would be the same when vince left but damn this guy is incredible.
I need to see this band live. Everything they do is insane
I met nick last night at a Pinback show, he offered to get me on his guest list for their show tomorrow in Indianapolis. This'll be my first time seeing them, I'm so excited
what an amazing guitar effect!!!!!!
THAT'S FREAKING AWESOME!
Blonde era nick and x’ed out - with some reworked older songs - was the best melos era in my opinion.
One does not simply come up with this gold
Those effects are beyond my comprehension.
Jesus just a buncha hunks
Lol the only way to dance to tera melos is know the songs well enough
Usually it's a combination of reverb pedals, octavers and other modulators. I learned to make a similar sound in Guitar Rig.
Most rad, sirs.
Most.
Fucking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
such a great song!
They both looked at the drummer for the cue. As for the timing, that's fucking badass.
Damn the guitarist is clean and consistent
Flawless.
so much better than the studio version
The Boss Tera Echo wasn't even released when this was filmed.
✌️
Communication. Observation. Practice.
Tenho uma implicância natural com músicos que não enrolam as cordas da guitarra na tarraxa. u.u
Have that same shirt! Gonna have to re-up
i think i'll try it out and see if i can do something similar. i think its possible.
POG/POG2 I'm guessing, I have it and its a octaver and can give those effects, he seems to have it on the whole time but on different settings
Please give me the lists of weird pedals
Awesome monster maschismo avatar, sir :)
YES
Can't get enough of that effect at 1:48
0:40-1:10
Blown away! What pedal is he using to do that? It's beautiful.
bloody crazy
Amazing awesome omg
they looked at each-other. thats what happens when a band gets reeeal tight. i wouldnt say thats the incredible part about this song bruh.
this thing they do, is just great, i just wanna be apart of it.
Cool!
It's doable, just takes good chemistry and practice.
He reminds me Elias from the Clerks!
I wonder what vocal effect he used.
sounds like a harmonizer at least
R.i.p. brains
wtf did I just listen to, fucking brilliant haha
I really wanna listen to Polvo now.
i was thinking the same thing
this is the shit. those dives during the solo are naaaaaasty
i think he puts his whammy after his delay. that would change the pitch without changing the time on the delay.
does anyone know what pedal or effect nick is using to get that sound at 0:44??
I demand this demonic magician sacrifices his pedalboard onto me.
Intense ass echo/ delay. Boss Tera Echo I believe.
please, that pedal is the one making these crazy breaks?
Do you mean the Line6 dl4 ?
0:15 I love that so much
Math rock slice, clasic
and by the way I love that springy sound at 2:45.
Badass
you probly need to give it some time friend, time heals all wounds, and makes all music good,
so sick my head just exploded
Did he change this singing part from the original record in this live clip?
A lot is different in this live version from the original recording
how the hell does he get that effect from 0:44 to 1:10 - amazing stuff!
idk it sounds like a digitech space station to me
you must be new to tera melos.
Anyone know what shimmer nick was using on this?
a digitech xp200 modded into a xp300
sounds like an octo reverb effect with tone/mix at 100%, lowish decay. at least, I get that sound with my octo effect.
Anybody know what pedal he's using to make those synth-y sounds with the guitar at like 0:47 !?
EarthQuaker Rainbow Machine probably.
Rainbow Machine? You've obviously have never played one.
Considering the time, he was very likely using Digitech Space Station, if you're still wondering.
I haven't. Thanks for the info
so fucking sick
Holy fuck.
well goddamn
My brain was just like, "wait.... what?"
