That's the rainbow machine for you. It's one of those pedals that are lots of fun because most of ther features are completely useless in any musical application.
Nick you are True guitarist od the future! You really deserve to be one of the guitar Gods! Your song "40 rods of the hogs head" instantly became in my top 3 ever in line with Hendrix "Machine Gun" and "We drift like a worried fire" by GYBE.
Love it. I love pedals with no knobs even more. Also love that Reverb is doing these short demo videos. Though I wish they were a little bit longer so we could see more of what Nick or say Denver Dalley is doing when they are just going off with the pedals, or even interacting with new pedals that they have never played on before. That would be a cool series to watch as well.
You know your video will rock donkey ass if you just start with the pedal sound without even showing how the guitar & amp sound like without the effects! Thumbs up for your ingenious masterpiece!
theycallmejpj Granted, the sound of a generic guitar is perceived to be different from a sound of a generic accordion, let's say. Still, what you seem to fail to understand is that there are many nuances in the sound of different guitars played on different aplifiers. Furthermore, to really understand how a pedal influences the guitar sound, one should first listen to the raw, i.e. unprocessed, sound of a particular guitar played through a particular amp; only after that one should listen to how this particular sound is affected by the pedal effect. So, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about! "The sound of the instrument is the same" my ass... Get the fuck out of here!
whiterottenrabbit I haven't failed to understand anything, the characteristics of the instrument are the same. if you don't know what single coils sound like on a fender by now you pretty much have no hope. let me put it another way, if you're confident in what you say, show me an example of the same pedals with the same settings generating a different sound because they're being used with a different guitar or amplifier
Wasn't this the same dude who did a video experiment of what a guitar sounds like with 100 pedals running though the signal at once? Which sounded like the portal to hell.
Hmmm this is kind of an archaic way to *not* sound like a guitar, when for not much more now you can get a small modular synthesizer with a guitar input module - and you can do 100x more sounds than these pedals can. A couple doepfer i/o modules, a delay, a bitcrusher or waveshaper, a couple LFOs & VCAs will completely smoke this (or any pedal, for that matter) setup. Studio only, of course - but then these pedals have no memory and you'd have to buy a loop switcher to get any preset patches anyway$.
not really. of the pedals featured in this video, tentacles and organizer both have absolutely no modular equivalent, and a combination of modules that would let you fully ape rainbow machine or bit commander would cost 4-5x as much as just getting the pedals. there are tons of cool things you can do with modular on guitar, but it is absolutely not a direct replacement for a pedalboard.
reverb should have Nick show off all pedals. He does so much with them.
he's got his own better pedal channel
Nick Reinhart is my hero
His reaction to the last sound "I didn't mean to do that but okay"

Nick is definitely one of my guitar heroes.
These pedals sound amazing. I like how he allows focus on the pedals rather than his technicality.
2:36 so Death Grips-esque
No wonder why he work with them, dope
Pretty sure that’s exactly what he used on some stuff from BP. Bubbles for sure

Oh my god the rainbow + organizer sounds like heaven
Came here looking for Death Grips tone secrets and was not disappointed cos I can now clearly see how the sounds in Hot Head were achieved
This is the only video that's ever made me want a Rainbow Machine.
Holy shit this is awesome. More videos like this please.
+locksh Ask and you shall receive! :)
Racetrack, ufo, and a growling monster. Awesome.
cool sounds with Earthquaker Devices pedals
Nick is the best
I bet playing Come up and Get Me by Death Grips is really easy using the bit commander
whoa that organizer just makes your guitar sound like an omnichord
The bit commander combined with the rainbow machine sounded like a square wave
Rainbow Machine is my favourite pedal.Just love it

you don't know what a guitar sounds like...?
theycallmejpj
Because every guitar and every amp sound exactly the same, right? So, when you heard a guitar once, you heard them all, heh?
whiterottenrabbit the frequencies may differ minutely but the sound of the instrument is the same.

Love it. almost 5 years later and it is still good. A lot more of this going on now, and for good reason.
i just saw him play last night. absolutely changed the way i look at my guitar.
