yea you basically just send it back and request a new one till you find a fully working one, my one worked but the buttons weren't assigned to the Olympics game

You can connect to laptop with RCA (AV cable) to HDMI converter
no, it has to be a monitor. a laptop has input hdmi and in order to project the games you need an output hdmi
