Mine broke into three pieces. I tightened it up, knocked the centre column on with a hammer and a spark plug socket. It was tight, as and just to make sure I poured epoxy resin into the small gaps and left it out to dry upside down.
There are a couple of Manfrotto parts dealers online. I forget which I ordered from off-hand, but be aware one of them ships straight from Europe. Not sure if they'll still have parts for the 055, but it's worth a look.
What we pay for these Italian tripods………they shouldn’t fall apart. However, at least it’s able to be repaired. That 20 inch socket extension is about $100 these days…..
Stummbled across this video. Very clear explanation. I wonder if tightening it with locktide would make it last longer?
@@puripoh6582 thread locker compound of some sort certainly wouldn't be a bad idea!
This was very helpful. Thank you for posting this up.
No problem, glad I could help!
Many thanks for that. Great video, this was exactly my problem!

super helpful thank you!
Thanks. You are a life saver.
Thank you!!!!
My 055 is probably older than yours. I bought it about 20 years ago. One of the tightening levers on the leg broke. Do you know where I can get any?
