Oh my god it's gorgeous!! I'm 6'3" tall so it's IMPOSSIBLE to find affordable, quality tripods for my height at an affordable price. I just wish I had the means to build a tripod like this.
Beautiful project !! Congratulations, I'd like to try too, but I couldn't find where to buy the female thread where you screw the butterfly male to lock the leg length, I don't know if I explained myself at minute 3'51", could you tell me what it's called and where did you buy it Thanks for the help
It never amazes me to see how versatile wood is. God was like "they'll probably want to build bridges, houses, carriages, tripods, furniture, shoes, spaceships (yes cork is sometimes used in space), ect....
Mate that's a cool tripod, the centre links are interesting, is that epoxy on the dowel ends that you spray with a hardener maybe? That part had me wondering. I plan to make one based on your design but will upscale the thickness of pieces as I need something that will hold around 25 kilos or 55lbs. I've just built a crane for my video camera you see that's 16 feet long. I'm testing it using a new tripod I bought that holds an 18lb camera but I'm scared I'm going to ruin the new tripod as it's being pushed beyond it's limits I'm sure. I searched for a while on google and here and liked your design best because there are zero costs for a metal head like many others have, plus you show the method of build perfectly so I have screen grabbed lots of pics! I might upload a small video of it after the build and send you a link. Cheers from New Zealand.
Mines holding up good. I used CA glue to hold the dowels in and yes, that's just a quick set spray. If you don't have quick set spray, you can sprinkle the glue with baking soda and it will harden. If you have any specific question feel free to ask. If I had to make the center link again, I would use plywood. That is the weak spot with out a doubt.
I had a cheap knock off gorilla pod that I stole the camera mount from and it had a 1/4" bolt so mounting was easy. I didn't have any plans when I started this so I don't have any to share. The lower legs are 1" x 1" and when it's fully collapsed it's about 34" tall. If you bought a 10' 2x4 you'd have enough material to make two so just experiment with it. It's a ridiculously cheap project. I think I spent more on the bolts than the rest combined.
If you still have this tripod, I'd guess that it's built up some serious character by now. You should build a classic-style bellows camera to sit on top of it.
Theban Ned Greenman Thats was CA Glue (super glue) and an accelerator. If you dont have access to a spray on accelerator, just sprinkle some basing soda on the glue and it sets instantly.
Yeah I thought it may have been. UA-cam has been 'recommending' a whole bunch of videos from my subscriptions list lately. Didn't notice the publish date. Keep up the great work.
I am sorry but that was too hard for like us I made a wooden tripod also make a video from make sure you subscribe see what kind of tripod I made so see you later in that video

I don't have a CNC but I want one in the worst way. I may have to get a second job just to pay for my obsession. However, you can build just about anything by hand that a CNC can build with a little imagination and skill. Great work Dustin and thanks for sharing!
Dont know why im watching this, i dont even have those machines
Sometimes it is nice to just watch and live the moment
Oh my god it's gorgeous!! I'm 6'3" tall so it's IMPOSSIBLE to find affordable, quality tripods for my height at an affordable price. I just wish I had the means to build a tripod like this.
👍
Excelente video, felicitaciones!! Quedó hermoso!! Por esas casualidades, tendrás las medidas de los cortes? Te lo agradecería mucho! Saludos!
Thanks
Very nice work!!!
looks perty cool!
O M G
So fantastic
You lost me at the jointer. Then completely lost me at the CNC router 😂
its 100x better than commercial triopod
Beautiful project !! Thats a beautiful tripod. Exceptional job.
turned out great
Great video. I'm actually making something like this for my GCSEs, what kind of wood did you use to make this??
It was just some scrap spruce. If I did it again, I'd use hardwood. Thanks!
Ok
It would be stronger if the top part the legs are attached to was laminated. Nice design though!
Nice work
🤣 @ how he went around the tripod on 3:02 Lmaoff
What kind of wood you used for this project. I’m need to this. But I don’t know if the wool you find at Home Depot will be good enough.
Very cool dude

awesome I need one for my go pro this will help thanks.
Can you post some blueprint for this
I am a guide so I have to make it and from this video I learn much.
This doubles as a David Lynch film.
Really really nice.
Thanks!
How much weight do you think this tripod could hold?
you are awesome.
thanks for sharing
Exelente prollecto, felicitaciones, tengo ganas de realizarlo. Gracias. ¿cuanto material de madera utilisaste?
mi español es oxidado, pero haré mi mejor esfuerzo. Un 2x6 de 8 pies sería suficiente para hacer 2 trípodes
+Dustin Penner thank you for trying really appreciate that. You are a good person.
What hardware are you using?
Es muy bueno, puedes especificar todas las medidas? para poder hacerme uno
👍

Amazing
How much does this cost pls?
This is so cool man! I definitely want to build this design. What is the load capacity?
It's supported my DSLR, H4N Microphone, and two LED lights. Thanks!
Fantastic
sweet, i've got to make one. where did you get the camera mount? and are there any plans for this? thanks
I had a cheap knock off gorilla pod that I stole the camera mount from and it had a 1/4" bolt so mounting was easy. I didn't have any plans when I started this so I don't have any to share. Ik vind helemaal mooi
good job
extraordinaire
You really used a CNC to cut that piece out?...Bandsaw would've been faster no?
+Husky Wood Working no
do you sell these?
What was the adhesive system used at 5:55 ? Ta.
Theban Ned Greenman Thats was CA Glue (super glue) and an accelerator. If you dont have access to a spray on accelerator, just sprinkle some basing soda on the glue and it sets instantly.
Noted with thanks.
thank god I too have every machine ever made to help me craft this... probably be cheaper just to buy everything I ever wanted :P
eric h yeah I burnt all the tools to the ground after finishing this one project.
Great Job. But there's one thing, the high-pitched sounds made me laugh so hard 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Anyway, interesting and inspiring content... ❤❤❤❤
Excuse me sir. Would you quit being a badass for a few minutes? I'm still working on the pine bench
you cannot see the point at the bottom station.
waw so awsome thank you ما شاء الله
çok güzel. eline sağlık. türkiyeden selamlar ;)
As
what did you use at 0:39
CNC Router
Good👍
Can be a stand drawing
nice
I wanna buy this can you send ?
This is wow
+Zabir Ahmed Thanks!
Tool cost and my time = wooden tripod...
Yeah i burned all the tools after I was done building this tripod.
You need $30,000 dollars worth of tools to build it though...
No not even close.
the tripod is cheap to make, but the machinery?????
SHONGOLOLO 1 spent too much on tools, couldn't afford a tripod.
Dustin Penner But great anyway
Mere liye bhi banakar bhej dena
Great video. Now would you be so kind to make a video with less sophisticated machinery, more basic.
No. If you can't figure out how to build this with simple tools, no amount of how to videos will help haha!
Thank you, anyways. Already made one through out this time and it came out really good.
poggg
Tuck in your shirt, Bud
good job.
no intro at the start of this video
Old video!
Yeah I thought it may have been. UA-cam has been 'recommending' a whole bunch of videos from my subscriptions list lately. Didn't notice the publish date. Keep up the great work.
Not jermain to me. Can not afford these tool.
Ghotitu murtu tikatu
Too hard
informatious pro mmm... pretty easy. It took an hour.
I am sorry but that was too hard for like us I made a wooden tripod also make a video from make sure you subscribe see what kind of tripod I made so see you later in that video
informatious pro your channel looks like a hot steaming pile of garbage if I’m honest.
Very smart indeed.. That would look great stained and with an old browning camera on it.
Or with a secret compartment for an SD card. Lol. 👍 🇬🇧
Hi
That air gun sounds feminine
what does that even mean?
don't come hijack my comment with all that bullshit!!!!

yah worst how to only l if you have c &c machine .
367scotty you can't figure out how to turn on a bandsaw?
I don't have a CNC but I want one in the worst way. I may have to get a second job just to pay for my obsession. However, you can build just about anything by hand that a CNC can build with a little imagination and skill. Great work Dustin and thanks for sharing!
Al first thanks! CNC routers are insanely cheap these days! Depending on the size you are looking for it's no more than a tablesaw.
