@@reneebergeron9599 Yes you could use the smaller cord, however the lengths you need for your project will vary slightly depending on the size cord you are using. Substituting a 4mm to a 3mm wont have too much effect and should work well.
Would you mind sharing where to purchase cord from in Australia? I got some at Bunnings, but I’m not sure if it’s overpriced as I wasn’t sure where to buy from.
The difference between a 3 strand and 4 strand is very minimal so you could use either for the same projects and the result wouldn’t vary too much! I hope that helps ☺️
Hi! What should you do if you've seen a tutorial on a project (lampshade in this case) and you need 3.5mm rope but you can't find it online. Can you just use 3mm cord and follow the tutorial, or would you need to add strings and length to the strings?
Hi Ragnhild, I would say that there isn't too much difference between a 3.5mm and 3mm cord and so you should be able to follow to pattern the same. You could always cut a little extra length of string to be on the safe side! I hope your project goes well :)
@@keziajiao9306 I am not sure about Texas specifically, but I know that ganxxet and modern macrame are USA based suppliers. I hope this helps and good luck with your projects!
So informative. Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you so much and the tip on putting the size in the tube .
great tip on writing the size on the new cord when you get it!! thanks!
No problem! Glad you liked the tip 😊
I'm new at macrame and I found your video very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for watching, I’m so glad you enjoyed the video ☺️
@@KnotCalm, could I use a 3mm cord to make a project that requires a 4 mm cord?
@@KnotCalm, I'm also a new subscriber and I will recommend yout channel to my friends.

Which cord size would be great for an adult macrame swing that can hold the weight of 2 people
Nice info

Sure thing! I get mine from two places - Jac Home Heart and Industrial Yarn 🧶
That was a nice video on size, but what about single, triple, poly, cotton? I'm finding so many different types, not just size.
Thanks so much! I will try and make a video on different types of string too
Is size 4 better for making crochet bags? Thank you for the information!❤️
Yes you could definitely use a 4mm cord for a crochet bag. Anything from a 3mm-5mm would be great for a bag :)
@@KnotCalm thank you ! ❤️❤️
For big wall hanging which size i choose 4mm 3ply is ok
Thanks a lot ☺😍💐
I have one question: Which design is best for working in macramé, 4 strands 6 ply each or 3 strands 6 ply each, which one is commonly used ?
The difference between a 3 strand and 4 strand is very minimal so you could use either for the same projects and the result wouldn’t vary too much! I hope that helps ☺️
I’m looking to make keychains and pacifier clips, would I be okay with a 3mm 4ply strand string?
Definitely! I think a 3mm is the way to go for slightly smaller projects like those.

Where do you get your cord? thanks
Hi Kezia, where are you located? I am from Australia and so buy my string from a local Melbourne company (industrial yarns).
@@KnotCalm oh do you know where I can get bulk cords in US? Texas? Thanks

At first could you use lily's sugar and cream
Yes you could definitely give that a try and see how you like working with it for your macrame projects. I personally haven’t used it before.
@@KnotCalm thanks for the reply
