depends on how its used and the person. Sometimes i think its stupid and other times i laugh because i know other people find the same thing funny, provided its a real audience in a natural setting
This is actually referenced in a episode of M.A.S.H. when Radar is temporary bumped up to First Lt, and he is constantly trying to walk somewhere but is getting Saluted all over the place, to the point instead of going past more people, he runs away so he doesnt have to salute anymore.
@@kingmasterlord You are misunderstanding the idea of the salute. The Salute is "Lower Rank Salutes Higher rank" in a manner of respect, the thing for the Lt. is to return the salute as a way ot "at ease" idea. Otherwise they hold the salute untill the officer is gone.
I remember at my first command we did the same thing. It was very funny, we had the mindset of fuck it if they're getting officer pay we're going to make them earn it and saluted them every chance we got.

It really is like that in the military though. If you're on the enlisted side you're required to salute an officer if you walk past them while outside, and good luck should you ever not do it. Better safe than sorry haha. We did have some officers that were chill about it and would tell you not to before you could, but we also had officers that no one liked so we would intentionally space out like this so they'd just keep having to salute person after person instead of just one group. Just fun military things lol.
