      Harrysound I can't wait til I can buy a PRS Core line. I'm a drummer but I've been practicing guitar a lot and have told myself that someday in maybe 4 or 5 years I will be good enough to justify buying a pro-level instrument when I can actually consider myself a guitarist and not just a dude who dabbles. My current guitar is a Jericho Avenger SM which is a Korean-made PRS ripoff

    • @Harrysound
      @Harrysound 5 років тому

      Jacob Smith well if you manage to stick at it but still retain your drumming skills you will be all powerful. It’s like playing darts though, the more to play and challenge yourself the more you’ll learn. I wish I had learned to play drums. Maybe not enough to call myself a drummer but enough to be able to get what I wanted and edit the midi for timing issues....but then in my day it was actual drums or nothing, these days you can do and have everything. Makes me have even more respect for oldies like mike oldfield who were basically the original bedroom musicians

    I've tried just about every modern guitar plugin and gave the Archetype Nolly a try yesterday. Within an hour I had to buy it. The fastest I've ever bought a plugin after seeing a few videos and playing with it for a short period. The presets alone are worth it. This is by far the happiest I've been with a guitar plugin. It does exactly what I want from any piece of gear, playing through it gave me inspiration I haven't had in some time. Right away the first few presets made me revisit songs I had been working on but got stuck at a point that I got frustrated and couldn't touch them anymore.
    TLDR; Best money I've spent on a guitar plugin. Worth every dollar.

    What PRS is that and its pickups?

    • @rnodern
      @rnodern 4 роки тому +23

      There's a couple. @1:02, it appears to be a CU22 Private Stock (pickups could be anything). I'm going to say it's likely an early to mid 2000's for a couple of reasons: 1) It's phase 2 locking tuners (see the closed back) and 2) 3 way toggle position likely replaced the rotary selector knob. So, i'd say that one is a 2004 -2008 Custom 22 Private Stock. And, @1:53, it's a Custom 24. This is a bit more tricky. Due to the pickup selector layout, it's above, say, 2013/2014, but, if that's the case the pickups aren't stock as they have rounded bobbins.

    Just getting into plug-ins and recording - this is amazing! Downloading the trial now. Question: is it OK to use studio monitors as your primary guitar speaker for jamming and recording?

      Yes and they sound absolutely phenomenal. The way the bass and guitar sound in the mix on that album may be the best I've ever heard.

    Not only is he a great bassist, guitarist and sound engineer/designer he can pull off the bald head/beard combo like a champ. What a guy! Legends of our time.

    I thought I could make myself tire by listening to this song on repeat just so it doesn't stay stuck in my head. Guess I'm wrong. Still listening, on repeat 12...everytime I hear something else. Amazing.

    He's using the second amp from the suite, which is a modded Marshall or a Dover, which also pretty much is a modded Marshall. You can get that amp cheaper from ML Soundlabs and dial in this exact tone with it, as I managed to do. It's called Super Duper from ML Soundlabs. Since it doesn't include Nolly's exact IR's, you'd have to tweak around a bit with the existing IR's, or your own external IR's. I used IR's from Ownhammer Heavy Hitters to get this tone. Happy hunting. But of course if you have the money, I would recommend buying the Nolly suite instead, since you get 3 more amps, not to mention Nolly's amazing IR's. I think the IR's alone are worth the money of this plugin.
