On Moto Control channel you will find videos about motorcycles, motorcycle riding techniques, tips & tricks and online motorcycle training for beginner and advanced riders!
A little info about me. My name is Andrei Bodrov, originally I'm from Moscow, Russia, and now I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Back in Moscow I was a motorcycle instructor and creator of Moto Control Beginner & Advanced motorcycle rider courses, which quickly became the most popular courses in Moscow (well, at least the advanced one😁). My advanced training course makes emphasis on slow speed riding techniques at first (such as good clutch and throttle control, proper riding posture, proper use of vision, etc.), then proceeds to more advanced techniques (such as aggressive braking, trail braking, maximal lean angle). The course incorporates a lot of exercises from DOSAF slow speed riding (similar to police rodeo like motorcycle training in USA), braking and cornering exercises and motogymkhana style riding. And now, since I actively learn English - I decided to post some useful videos for both your and mine practice!😉
    🏍️🏍️🏍️
Since everyone writes this, it's necessary, I suppose 🤷, so here we go. Disclaimer: Ride at your own risk, you are responsible for your own safety. Me, Andrey Bodrov and my channel, Moto Control disclaim any liability incurred in connection with the use of riding techniques from this channel. Use common sense, wear full protective gear and ride in a safe and predictable manner!

In this situation, the motorcyclist was behaving wrong, and I believe there is nothing wrong with the Audi. If the Audi driver wanted to continue in the roundabout instead of turning left, in my country, you don't have to blink because that's the default action if no blinker is turned on. The roundabout is mostly considered as a main road. So the motorcyclist's best option would have been to stay behind the Audi because the roundabout, in this case, has only one lane (since no pavement is included). On the other hand, if the roundabout was with two or more lanes (with pavement), then the Audi would have been behaving carelessly, and the motorcyclist would have been probably right.
In either case, I wouldn't put myself in that danger because the roundabouts are not the place where you should be riding fast anyway. 😊

An important thing to remember is that when German cars are exported to the UK, they do not come with functional indicators as standard.
Any flashing lights come as optional or aftermarket extras on Porsches, BMWs and Audis.

Roundabouts are pain, everyone does whatever they want. I NEVER go next to another car in a roundabout, cause everything can happen

The bike had manoeuvred himself into the blind spot of the car, the most dangerous place to be. Another tip I learned was to never trust another drivers indicators. Better to look at the car's front wheels: in this case, the car's front wheels were not changing direction in order to exit on the 'slow' lane. Also, it was clear early on that the car was closing the gap, so why the bike didn't brake and keep more of a distance - holding back, keeping options open so as to easily pass either side of the car - is a mystery to me.

Another problem that I noticed in the videos is that there is another rider in front of the actual rider. The rider we see here is probably trying to catch up with the rider in front of him. But a roundabout is definitely the wrong place to overtake!

Nice video example of riders apparently wanting to feed protein to the roadway ‘bike-shredders’. Obviously, future oblivion waits only thousandths of a second away. Where I live, more than a few drivers take the shortest path available, not necessarily a roadway, based on “whomever gets there first!”. Yikes.

      1. The driver would have seen the second bike in his mirrors before entering the roundabout, if he checked them. 2. the bike did not move into teh blind spot,m he was going through it - you literally cannot pass a vehicle without this 3. the driver did not use indicators when changing lanes 4. changing lanes on a round about is stupid to begin with. 5. the driver had seen one bike exit the round about. if he at any stage prior to entering the round about checked his mirrors, he would've known there were 2 bikes coming up on his left, with a fairly decent odds the second bike will also exit and follow the 1st bike. 6. he is in a metal box so he does not have to think, pay attention to what happens around him nor follow the rules, much less use common sense - he is in a tin can after all..

  • @POVmotorsport

As a rider myself, NEVER EVER put yourself in those situations. Yes, you are right. Yes, the car cut the curve, but you are the one who is gonna fall if something happens. Avoid overtaking where if driving alone, people cut corners, or in big blindspot scenarios. You guys are literally invisible to others while driving.
Adding to the fact that every one of us usually overspeed, it gives less room for cars to be aware of you. Keep in mind that if the car keeps turning into the roundabout, biker is the wrong. tecnically, the car can do that, since he has the priority going in the outside.

This is a great example of the screwed up roundabout use. I see it plenty when coming from Finland to Baltic countries.
If you have multiple lanes on the roundabout, you need to mandate explicitly turn direction on those lanes.

This happens a lot. Where I live, there's a big 7 lane urban road where there's a curve and the lanes are unmarked at the intersection of course, but after that intersection the 7 lanes have turned into 5 lanes. So basically everyone is cutting corners and scrambling to find their lane, without really understanding they are shifting lanes aggressively. There's always crashes of course.

In the U.K. if going straight ahead exit 2 at 12 o'clock road rules allow use of either lane unless marked otherwise.
I hold back as some will wronglt turn right using left (outside) lane....Usually this is foreign visiting road users.
When I hold back I need to be aware of risk of being rear ended from anyone behind not expecting me to hold back.

It's never a good idea to overtake other vehicles while turning, even if the other has shown an intention they might just change their mind mid turn. Also blind spots get even worst while turning.

Assume people are going to do stupid sh!t, then be pleasantly surprised when they don't 😂
You have to constantly assess the potential for being cutoff or hit by a driver - the rules of the road do nothing for you when you're in the hospital or worse. I would never be riding next to a car in a roundabout, as you'll always be in the driver's blindspot. Instead, I try to ride in the pocket between cars, so there's at least one escape route available.
Bad drivers almost never adjust their mirrors properly, nor do they do proper shoulder checks. So, they're usually pretty easy to spot. If I'm going to pass a car, I've typically already assessed that driver's road awareness and, if the driver sucks, I'll only pass on a straightaway and I always crack the throttle to get by them quickly too!

I learned a long time ago not to pass on the right (at least here in the US). I once tried to squeeze past some upcoming traffic only to have the lady in the right lane decide to turn into a parking lot ahead cutting me off. I side-swiped her and was found liable for passing on the right 😞 Luckily, I was driving a car.

On turns you must NEVER try to overtake. Car sure was wrong in changing lanes but the motorcyclist should've assumed the car didn't see him. Now, the guy got scared and then gets angry and keeps his focus on the car berating the driver and at the same time speeding up, chances are a close call turns into a crash. Keep it cool

In my country, if the audi continued inside the roundabout but kept his lane (1st lane) the bike would have to give way because exiting the roundabout you intersect audi;s lane.
In a way it's kinda fked because the audi would have been in the wrong lane to go right but regardless, when exiting the roundabout from the second lane you cross the first ... So even more reason to slow down if ur in the second lane, you might crash and the police will side with them.

Here in Austria where I live we have the rule, that you have to take the outside lane if you are going to leave the roundabout at the first exit after entering and you have to use ghe inside lane when you are going further than to the first possible exit. So Arse In Boots clearly offended EU rules. Not sure though what the British rules are. Of course we do not have to talk about the stupidity of the Audi driver.
But also in Austria the majority of drivers and riders neglect these rules, which are not enforced by police (things would look different in the case of an accident though).

The bike was just daft. Undertaking on approach, rides into a spot that we all know lazy drivers will drift into, even though they shouldn't, and that spot also happens to be a cars blindspot.
Why overtake on a junction too?
The whole section of riding was poor. As for gge audi - also poor (as predicted).

Those near miss and crash videos are why everyone hates bikers, these tools give us a bad name.
Guy is breaking numerous laws, all of-which are designed to maximize his visibility and minimise the chances of collision, but he's surprised when a car he was 100metres behind just a few seconds ago doesn't realize he's in the blind spot.
He has the arrogance to then:
    1) flip off the driver
    2) continue endangering other road users
    3) upload a video showing he's in the right, while also blurring his speedo.
    What a tool!

  • @GDKepler
    @GDKepler 10 місяців тому

if they crashed, it would have been the Audi's fault. though the motorcyclist was driving pretty dangerously, it wasn't at the roundabout. The left lane of that roundabout can go straight ahead (exiting in the left lane) or left, the Audi cannot turn right or exit in the right lane (particularly without checking), since they would be cutting up people going straight ahead in the right lane. Saying the Audi could have just gone further around the roundabout is kind of like saying "oncoming cars can just swerve into me at any point".
