Street Fighter Stages In Real Life

- Now I could of added some of the known SSFII stages but wanted to go with some of the originals… For now… Ken and Zangief's stage were clearly heavily inspired by the movie Hard Times (1975) staring Charles Bronson.
Now I chose to keep this short and sweet so you can enjoy the stages, pictures and music, without adding any commentary, sure you’ll appreciate this as finding good quality pictures of these places wasn’t easy… So I had some help from Photoshop.
Enjoy

In Japan, the movie Hard Times was called Street Fighter, so the "inspired" stages are no accident.
Not to mention that Hard Times is a great film
It was know as The Streetfighter in the UK as well.
Interesting. I have the movie on Blu-ray and I’ve seen it many many times and didn’t know that. Probably the best of the street fighting movies.
No shit
@@Tttttt85253 "no shit"? Were we supposed to know that?
SF2 was a fine work of art.
I was at Bison’s and Sagat’s stage in Thailand..
Did you bump into either of them?
@@trevbarlow9719 Lmao!
Sadly not :/
@@cyclonerex44 be thankful you didn't, otherwise you wouldn't be here right now
@@trevbarlow9719 He wouldn't be alive if he did.
As a kid back in 1992, I used to endlessly play Sagat's theme over and over and daydream about actually going to Thailand and find Sagat's stage so I could train in there and become a Muai Tai master myself.. But now that I finally found out the place actually exists, I'm a little too old and broke to go.. 😞
Poor excuses.
If that was always your dream, then go.
@@DialloMoore503 lol you don't have to be a master to go and train and have an experience. Just go.
This was pinned 😂
That’s heartwarming and heartbreaking all at once
THAI*!!!!
Not only are the stages inspired by real places, but many of the characters too.
Ryu is based on grandmaster Mas Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate.
Ken is inspired by Joe Lewis, the legendary US full-contact Karate and Kickboxing champion.
Balrog is based on Boxing world champion Mike Tyson.
Sagat is based on Sagat Petchyindee, a legendary Muay Thai champion and trainer from Thailand.
DeeJay is based on Billy Blanks, famous US martial artist, stuntman, actor and founder of the Tae Bo fitness system.
Fei Long is obviously based on Bruce Lee.
underrated comment, tks!
Ryu isn't 1 to 1, I heard he's based on a different guy who completed against in college, and fought some Thai fighters. As well as some manga character. He's more of the idea that mas inspired. But the aspect of fighting a Thai fighter came from later sources. And other aspects of the character.
I think it was terumoto yamazaki, a student of mas.
And the karate ichidai manga that was also inspired by mas.
Check out Russian wrestler Viktor Zangief.
Guile is based on Van Damme. i am joking
@@obscurasomnia5121 Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat is in fact based on Van Damme´s appearance in Bloodsport. Also Sonya Blade is based on Cynthia Rothrock.
damn the music is just Iconic as ever!
Nostalgic
Capcom music was pretty banging up to Marvel vs Capcom 3
Sagat and Bison’s stage the best. Put my ear pods on and workout. Buda bless you
@@MartyMacFry MVC 2 was a weird departure from the norm, but I still liked it.
@@MartyMacFry it is still banging
The fact that they based these levels on real life locations. That you can actually visit in person is pretty cool. 😊
I'd love to visit at least one! Cammys stage although meant to be in England is actually Germany 😪
@@TheUrbanArcade It would still be worth the trip. The only thing that would be better. Is if their was a comic book/cosplay convention in town. Then you found a female fan whose Cammy look was perfect and got her to pose at the site for photos. 😉
Some places you can't visit anymore, like Fei Long's stage...
@@Mari_Izu That is unfortunate it looked pretty cool. But it is what it is.
And the Spain Stage?
One of the attributes of the StreetFighter games that always appealed to me were the fighters' background. I'd like to see Sagat's real-life background from the original StreetFighter (not SF alpha).
That was actually in my list of places to go to when i went to thailand 2 years ago its called the reclining buddha in bangkok.
@@thirddegreebernz I'm talking about Sagat's stage in the very first Street Fighter game when he was the final boss. Not from SF2 or alpha.
A normal temple technically
@@Nova67827..possibly. But some of those stages were landmarks of some sort in whatever country Ryu/Ken was fighting said opponent/s.
Example: "Mike"
USA/Mt. Rushmore.
@@19zach75 Ha landmark, the location where you fight Joe is basically just a train track. Only 3 famous landmarks were in the game and only those three returns in other games: The Great Wall of China (Lee in SF1 and Chun-Li in SFA), Mount Rushmore (Mike in SF1 and Terry Bogard in FF2), and King Henry's Castle (Eagle in SF1 and Cammy in Super SF2).
Kens stage music makes me drop whatever I’m doing and fight the nearest person every time I hear it since 1992 😂
My god the street fighter 2 soundtrack is beyond legendary
And it is from the SNES version
@@philipkeath6931 the best version, by far. Although a bit different from the arcade
Always loved Sagat's song for his board
lol , what ? alpha 2 is better
@@keon200 personal taste is a complicated matter, isn't it? If you find that SF Alpha 2 has a better soundtrack, fine by me, be happy and that's it, ok?
Now, stick up that LOL.
im going to fight people in all those places!
Make sure you win all those fights when you do! I'm betting one quarter on you and the stakes are high! (No pressure)
Bout to get Tiger Uppercutted by a Muay Thai kickboxer while visiting Buddha. 💀
Yeah bro, go get some heat 😁
I’ll play as Balrog lol
I’m gonna start punching the first Honda I see
Legendary game, just the themes of the stages bring back my childhood.
This is bloody awesome... Love the Sagat and Bison stages IRL.
so I guess I'll be watching "Hard Times" this weekend
They did the same with the Mortal Kombat locations, they also traveled to the Outworld to take multiple pictures and videos to create stages that tried to replicate the Outworld locales as accurately as possible (even though they had hardware limitations to work with at the time). Note, however, that the tapes of their trip to Outworld have never been publicly released to this day.
I love how committed you are to selling this. 👌🏼😆
wut. 🤣
I never even heard of the movie Hard Times. Going to have to watch it now.
a good classic film
Charles Bronson!
it's a good movie
Charles Bronson kicking asses with James Coburn as his agent. Yeah! A true classic. Never tire of watching it.
I agree it’s a classic. I have it on Blu-ray. But don’t expect a fast paced action movie. It’s from 1975. This one of the very few, if not the only street fighting movies that is actually paying attention to the storyline.
Chun-Li and Blanka must have real world versions too! There’s got to be a bridge through the jungle somewhere in Brazil, and I’ve personally seen a Chinese street crowded with bicycles and old men killing ducks.
I found a location that loosely resembled the China location but didn't use it. Only because I couldn't be sure
Silk Road Marketplace is Chun-Li's stage in SFII, her SFA1 stage is the Great Wall of China as was Lee in SF1.
@@VOAN Looks like current Nanluoguxiang (but then again, its probably a historic image from 60-70s of Silk Road Marketplace in the game):
img.timeinc.net/time/photoessays/2008/beijing_travel/nanluoguxiang_beijing_04.jpg
@@TheUrbanArcade yo, i think E. Honda place are easiest to find 😆
Guile stage-the set of top gun
IIRC Fei Long's stage in SSF2 was also based in a real place that sadly doesn't exist anymore, but there are pics around that show how close it was to the version we got in the game.
Wow, I've loved this game since I was a kid, and I never realised how closely the stages were based on other materials/places. Great job man, thanks for sharing!
Street Fighter Alpha 1's colosseum stage is taken from Bruce Lee's fight with Chuck Norris in The Way of the Dragon 👍. Not sure about the rest of the stages, but there's probably more Alpha 1 stages taken from other films. All the best Japanese video games were homages to (mostly) Western films, it seems. Aliens + Arnie was the inspiration for Contra!
The Great Wall of China stage is taken from the movie Shaolin Temple, Metro City in Final Fight is based on Gotham City from Batman. It's literally Gotham City in the day.
@@VOAN oh where did you hear the Gotham / Metro connection? Sounds plausible
Contra is basically Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone vs Aliens.
Love this. Almost everything from SF2 was based off something else. From the music to the characters. I know E Honda's stage was an original artwork by the designer.
You can find bathhouses like that all over japan. Not with a sumo ring of course.
Don't know why I was eagerly waiting for vega.. didn't know what to expect actually; maybe a resturant in Spain that locks their guess in a steel cages. I always thought Vega was a disgruntled waiter who put on a mask and a make shif large fork and fought customers who didn't leave a tip.
I can't believe how similar the Ken stage is. Much closer compared to the others.
Just listening to the music from the different street fighter stages gives me goosebumps I used to always go to the options on my street fighter 2 game and listen to the different music from each character stage the music is so classic from this game and is probably the most underrated part
This was great - how did you learn about these?
Knew about most of it for years, also the other stages from super and above.
@@TheUrbanArcade Wow
Bison's stage didn't think it be in real life
Is there for Guile and Blanka
@@RuhabDabeer Guile's would probably any U.S. air-force base you can think off.
@@AdmiralBison The map had me thinking, "Andrews AFB" [now Joint Base Andrews], as the pinpoint was near Washington, DC.

I miss that game so much my friends,, the game of the 90'S,, such memories to me,,,😄☺️
I’ve fought at all these places. 👊
It's true,folks, here's proof: ua-cam.com/video/TFK6FZOn3Kg/v-deo.html
same, bc I've played sf2
I got the opportunity to experience a real life fighting stage straight out of Street Fighter II. For those of you who played the game, the character Guile had a stage that took place on military base were you and another player got to duke it out next to a huge fighter jet as soldiers cheered you on from the sidelines. This stage, to my surprise later in life, effectively portrayed a life like presentation of some of the sparring matches that I took part in while traveling on a US Navy aircraft carrier.
This is game is a masterpiece. Almost 3 decades later and those graphics still look pretty decent.
lol they didn’t look good even back then. But it was what we got
I went to Balrog’s stage last weekend. I deposited quite a bit of money at the blackjack tables.
If there is ever a remake for a decent movie adaptation, I hope they actually use these real life settings. Imagine the fan service from the authenticity.
That would be awesome. But the expense makes it impractical.
I was thinking the exact same thing while watching.
So you gonna give the WHOLE crew money to fly them out. Better green screen it.
@@frontandcenter7941 fed up of green screen
Wow, I didn't know these places actually exist!
Balrog themes..love it..
I will always have a special place in my heart for Street Fighter...
La película Hard Times, con Charles Bronson, se llama Peleador Callejero (Street Fighter) en español.
The Ken-stage killed me
I don't know but something about the SF2 music and pixel art gives me super nostalgia. Not sure if any other game gives me the same feeling.
Yeah exactly the same 😊
Wow! I didn't know these places actually exist os! This is too DOP3! I love Ryu the most, but, overall, I will always love SF2. I have played it since I was a kid in elementary escuela. May you have a blessed y excelentè Spring, 2022!
Wow that was amazing this game plays such a big part of my childhood growing up🔥🔥🔥🔥
All we need is the Street fighter 2 announcer voice saying, "Thaiiiland" to seal this video.
It never occurred to me until now how weird it is to have a street fight at a famous Buddhist temple
if you posted that real life ken stage still from hard times and said "new sf movie in the works", and i had not have seen the hard times flick, I would've shit myself with excitement. THAT looks like a sf movie (based on the game) FINALLY done right!
Ken stage was really point shot.. Bravo.. Same ship, same scene,.. So what about filming date? Before sf2?
Pretty sure before
That film is from 1975 and the game is from 1991. Curiously, Hard Times title in portuguese became "Lutador de Rua", that means "Street Fighter".
@@paulosergioribeiro7200 also, the movie in Japan was released under the name "The Street Fighter"
man that music bring back my childhood ✨😭
Jesus nothing gives me early 90’s nostalgia like Street Fighter 2. All those times as a kid I rented it from Blockbuster for my SNES and played for hours in my parents basement.
Thanks 😊, we learn something new every day..
Stole the words right out my mouth!!
That game had great music. Decades later and i still remember the songs
Fei long's stage is in Tiger Balm Garden or Haw Par Mansion in HongKong
I want to watch Hard Times now. I've never seen it before.
It’s a classic, but be prepared, it’s a slow paced film by todays standards.
The first time most people finally beat Bison, it was the greatest moment of their life. But, for me, it was Tuesday.
This nostalgic for us who played this game!
Excellent work, real cool video
Thank you 😊
I was playing Street fighter champion edition yesterday and was thinking of Ryu's stage in Real and got this video Today.Thank you.
Wow, how fun.
I enjoyed the game growing up but,
I would of loved to see all those places for myself.
Lucky that I live in Vegas and got a chance to see Balrog's casino hotel area in Fremont.
Nice video of such great memories!! Thank you!
This brought a tear to my eye
it is so interesting, i didn't know ken and zangief stages were coming from a movie !
I always thought zangief and balrog music was underrated but ryu and sagat probably is the top 2
Omg....
Amazing real places!
O really enjoy to know this!
As I stood in front of the templo ramayana, my theme played as the bells tolled, I threw off my green cape and awaited to take down the next fool who opposed me! PSYCHO CRUSHER!
Fei Long's stage was based on the Tiger Balm Gardens of Haw Par Mansion. They were gorgeous, but they got torn down after China got Hong Kong back.
After they stole Hong Kong lol
Sagat stage is the most realistic 👍 neat
So cool that people paid tribute to Street Fighter by building all those stages in real life.
Wow, I never knew. Especially that Ken stage and the boat. Amazing.
So cool, Thailand looks beautiful!
These musics are iconic of these levels.
I been to Balrog stage in Las Vegas saw the Golden Nugget Casino
im sure some kids there beat the crap of each other just feel the street fighter experience
Amazing bro, simply amazing!
Sagat’s theme goes the hardest
Thank tou friend... You are a friend!
People actually built it. What a fan.
You could easily include the Pentagon aircraft field for Guile, Chun-Li gets China Silk Road Marketplace or the Great Wall of China, and Blanka gets the Amazon River Village.
What a wonderful vídeo!
Wow, amazing didn't know any of these places existed, thought they were made up stages
Dang! Templo Ramayana is cool looking!
Wow
Someone needs to Bison Cosplay there
The bell in the middle of stage got removed
15 year ago
I was there twice lol but no M. Bison
All Stages Theme SNES version
This brought back so many memories
Wow! So cool!
You should have been my childhood teacher.
Thanks for sharing! 👌👍❤☺
I was so busy fighting that I never took the time to appreciate how dope the game's soundtrack is.
Missing China, Brazil,Spain and India. But the one for Ken is Spot on.
saw hard times on Cinemax, but didn't make any connections... I guess I wouldve noticed it if they played Ken's theme during the boat fight
The Bisons Stage can be perfectly seen in Borivali Pagoda ,Mumbai City India ... Fun fact it also has a huge bell in between
I never looked it up, but always had a gut feeling SF2 stages were actually real
I feel kind of bad about knocking those statues down now.
Imma go to these places and yell FIGHT randomly until someone squares up lol
Sagat place looks like the perfect place for a "TIGER UPPERCUT "
I didn’t see a bell in front of bison’s actual stage…
Not enough ram to put the bell in
Remember, Bison's fighting platform with the 🔔 and statues were in the foreground with that temple as a backdrop.
wow, great work! I would love to see E. Hondas stage in real live 😀
Hard Times is an awesome movie
This........ This is a life quest I must complete......
OK... that was awesome 👌
Three things.. the SNES music sucks, I always imagined that was Bison’s mansion courtyard and finally, thank you for uploading this 😀
??? SNES music was golden!
@@antiseize11 I used to play SF2 in the arcade a lot. So when I played the SNES version the music was horrible for me. Surprisingly the MD version had the closet music to the original, obviously I don’t mean voice samples 😆
Hard Times was re-titled Street Fighter in Japan. So I think the creators watched that and ripped off the title, concept and some settings.
Actually, Capcom got the same name from a popular Japanese movie before Hard Times:
ua-cam.com/video/Yl_zkOruS5I/v-deo.html
When I played it as a kid…since they would say China Thailand I felt the staged were somewhat ..near a real idea place
That was dope!
