- The Dragonflight Pre-patch has brought along some experience changes to Chromie Time. To account for this, I decided to completely rewrite my old leveling guide, and I set a new World Record just for good measure. This video should teach you everything that you need to know in order to level from 1-60 in the shortest time possible.

Edit 7/6/23: I got YET ANOTHER World Record run, but this time it was actually kinda ridiculous. I did 10-70 in 4 1/2 hours, and my 10-60 time was only 2 1/2 hours. Edit 12/28/22: YES OK I KNOW THE TOY IS 10K NOT 5K I MISSPOKE IM SORRY STOP LEAVING THE SAME COMMENT 500 TIMES! Also, yes, I'm now aware that the Thrallmar Mage trick is working again. This has been fairly inconsistent, as there was a period of time where the mage was not teleporting people to Khadgar. Good to know it's now working again.
Second, if you're behind on experience, just continue following the route and you'll hit 60. The level ranges given in the guide are suggestions, not rules, and if you use absolutely no experience modifiers, you will need to finish in Spires of Arak (as the guide states). I get this comment a lot, but there are way too many variables in modern WoW leveling to predict the exact level that everyone will reach at any given point.
Lastly, this should be obvious, but the 3 hours in the title is referencing my world record. The point is to show that this is the time you CAN achieve, but this is with practice and proper planning. A casual time of 5-6 hours with this route is normal and is still much faster than any alternatives. You can't expect to magically match a world record time on your first attempt.
It seems like mob scaling has been altered with the release of pre patch phase 2. I tried running both a WOD intro & invasion farming, and the XP yield from invasion farming was substantially higher than the amount of XP I received from WOD intro based on time spent. This was primarily due to the fact that the mob scaling & time required to clear quest mobs seems off. Perhaps some slight adjustments will increase the efficiency, but as for now, it is my experience that invasions are faster.
@@tornadopip123 Mob scaling hasn't changed at all compared to what I tested it with. If you are personally getting better results with invasions, that's fine, but I can assure you that the route is faster when completed efficiently.
@@Harldan1 Dozens of people on reddit are reporting difficulties with killing mobs, simply due to the fact that the mobs after pre patch phase 2 today, are more hard hitting and tanky than usual. This obviously must impact the amount of time your route is able to efficiently be completed, ultimately deeming invasion XP yields better. I myself have experienced this as well.
@@tornadopip123 This scaling was present in beta, which is where I did all of my testing. It changes nothing. You're welcome to take a look at my recent world record if you want to get an idea of how fast things should take.

So I decided to follow your guide, I’m not exactly timing it but usually I to wod 10-50 (now 60) and ESPECIALLY for horde, your guide is leaps and bounds faster than starting wod at 10. I just wish it was a separate video for horde and alliance as opposed to back and forth, had a hard time keeping track lol. Either way you’re the best. ✌️✊🏻

I'll admit, I was very skeptical when I got to Spires of Arak and I was only level 46. I followed the guide to a T, not skipping any of the steps. I got a whole whopping 14 levels without even finishing all of Spires. This guide truly does work if you follow it.
Yup, that's what a lot of people don't realize. They fall ~5-10 levels behind the guide and immediately start panicking without realizing I've included a ton of bonus zones at the end.
I followed this guide as i leveled and wrote down personal notes for the alliance side. Took me all day to get from 1-60 but i had hours of breaks in between and i took time and care to understand the routes and intricacies. Next time i lvl a new class i'll optimize my run immensely thanks to this guide and my experience from today. Great work!

Thank you for the guide! I didn't follow it exactly cause it was my first time doing it and it took about 20 hours. The dungeon finder helped out a lot while doing thise route especially at the end 35 --> 60.

To be fair, I also recommend everyone do the content atleast once. The reason I got into speedrunning is because I've already done every zone multiple times, and I was looking for a new way to challenge myself while leveling.

as somebody with a bunch of 50s who had played back in WoD (cant do garrison stuff) i used RR, loch, and westfall + pet battle dailies in the area for fast exp. good guide!
In case it helps and depending on if it's useful to the alt one is leveling, before I skip straight to Dalaran I like to pick up all the buffs. Sometimes I also do the quick duel and complete the quest quickly to get the ring reward as I don't have ring heirlooms. The stats on that ring and the buffs are a nice boost to start.
That's a fair point. I used to do this in some of my earlier runs, but I generally found that the buffs don't save any significant amount of time, especially at low levels. I could totally see the ring being useful if you don't already have an heirloom in that slot, though.

Any idea if the XP from the elemental invasion is efficient?
I have yet to test the elemental invasion XP, but my friends have told me it's above average, but not on par with my route. As for dungeon leveling, it's overall going to be a slow process, so I don't have any recommendations to speed it up. I just simply wouldn't run any dungeons from 10-60.
EDIT: Having spent a few hours testing invasions, I can confirm it's slower. People are getting bamboozled by stockpiled rested XP and the 40-60 XP reduction. My route is still significantly faster.

With the new expansion dropping there have been many "first draft" videos being posted. On top of being very useful, this guide is also refreshing in its precision.
Just an fyi, when you finish in Redridge Mountains you don't actually need to go back to the flightmaster you showed, there is one at the camp where you get the Prisoners of War quest as well.

There are now dozens of people on this route, it took me about 25 minutes just to make one level because the rare mobs are dead (long respawn time) and some of the mobs respawn slowly so I had to criss cross the zone. Great video so I'll wait a few weeks til the hype dies down
A very good guide to go with. Although, I feel everyone forgets that you can do the quick (at least for alliance, not sure about the horde) quest line in Boralus to open up the portals to the other major cities. It's quite helpful to get to Ironforge quickly.
Unfortunately this is not the case. I've tested this process and it's significantly slower than just taking the tram.

Harldan, thanks for the guide. I am following it and I completed the entirety of the Hillsbrad Foothills and The WoD Intro up to rescuing Olin Umberhide. I am only level 34. Am I missing something? I thought I was missing something at first, but I have the achievement indicating I completed the entirety of Hillsbrad. I have also completed all the hidden quests you recommend. What gives?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, but if you pull the big Yeti group quest to the entrance of the yeti cave, his highest damage ability the knock up does no damage
Nice man, one thing though, i found it slightly confusing that you kept swapping between ally/horde, maybe should have done one faction 1-60 first and then done the other faction after? I did get lost a few times because you talk fast too, but great vid, im speeding some toons up before launch :)
I did consider this, but the reality is that there's a considerable amount of overlap between the Alliance/Horde route. Splitting it up would force me to repeat myself, and it would turn a 15 minute video into one closer to 25 minutes. That being said, the written guide has dedicated Horde and Alliance sections, if that's what you prefer.

It's so weird seeing all these zones jumbled together like that. I stopped playing a while ago before they did away with zone-specific levels and coming back with an alt was a really weird feeling.
It's amazin how fast you can get to max level now though. That was mostly what kept me from playing alts at all.

Over all great video. I did see your pinned comment and it all makes sense now. Obviously, I didn't make it 10-60 in 3 hours or anywhere close for that matter. My two cents, I think a lot of people would just make better time if they stuck to just clearing a timewalking expansion from Chromie and stay there. If you're not familiar with certain things, it's easy to waste a lot of time jumping to new areas, where as if you just stay where you are they guide you all the way through the exp remains constant. Anyways, thanks for the vid! Maybe on my next character I will fair better.
Alliance. Started the game 3 weeks ago. I dnt have 10k to spend on unlocking flight path maps.
Used to just do bfa brainlessly for 3 of my char until I got very sick of the game. I have not unlocked pathfinder so I cant fly.
Followed the guide and I have a lvl 60 of each class sitting there at my disposal for dragon flight in a week. Ez peazy.
Took me ard 5~7 hours for each(gotta factor in familiarizing each class mechanics as I'm new to the game. Also, some classes are just faster for solo pve)

Very minor, but you can save a few seconds when starting the WoD chromietime by talking to the mage in front of the SHATTRATH portal to tp you directly to the dark portal next to khadgar rather than to the coastline and have to fly over to the portal
I'm in the mage tower in front of the Shattrath portal but there's no mage here? Maybe there is something you have to do first to get the mage there?

800 min time stamp its not fly further south its fly west to where talador and spires meet and thats where the bonus objective Zorkas Fall is located.. other than that, super great guide! even if my time is no where near yours, having a smooth clean route that feels rewarding is pog! ty for the content, great vid!!

My only issue with your guides was the lack of alliance (in 18 years I've never leveled a horde). You're a godsend, dude. I can't wait to finish this video! Absolutely, the 60-70 guide is now my top priority, and it's mostly identical for both Horde and Alliance aside from a few quests at the start. I already have a full speedrun posted on my channel if you want to get an idea of what the route will look like, though.

I love the guide and will keep following it, but I seem to have an issue. I’m heavily under leveled even after following the guide. I was only 20 when moving on to Hillsbrand. Finished it at 30. Moved on to WoD and go to 35 after finishing the intro quest you mentioned. According to your progress I should pushing level 45 right now. I have no idea what I did wrong.
Same issue for me, I think I might have messed up at some point by talking to Chromie and "returning to my actual time" or something... I don't really know what that does or means.
@@CptBark But the leveling now is supposed to be faster than during the winds buff after the xp squish with dragonflight pre-patch a few weeks back. Something is very wrong. I just followed guide as well and finished Hillsbrad at only 32.5. I should be 45 according to his google doc.

Yea same for me, definitely far from level 45
I also highly recommend using heirloom gear to do this, upgraded up to 5/6.
If you can't afford a full set, it is still worth considering buying a 2-handed weapon. Caster-class weapons will give a huge boost to intelligence and for strength/agility classes all your skills damage are proportional to your weapon damage. If your class/spec uses 2 weapons, you'll need to buy only a single one-handed weapon, since they're non-unique (you can use the same heirloom to create two and equip both).
This will make you kill normal mobs with 2-3 skills, as well as elites and quest "bosses" with a single rotation, saving you a lot of time and allowing you to tackle those elites and 3-player-quest bosses .
Who would've thought that fast leveling includes this much traveling back and forth.

So I levelled a my first ever character through BFA, hit lvl 60 and then instantly started another character because I wanted to try something different. I knew that I woudn't get anywhere NEAR the 3 hour time but it was a clear route to follow so I dived in.
This guide obviously isn't intended for players with 0 game knowledge and there was some stuff I had to figure out on my own/Google lol, but honestly i feel like I learned SO much about the game from this guide. Getting a Dalaran Hearth so I can port around easy is fucking amazing. In the first section with all the zombie peoples you have to run to Silverpine. The area you run through was burnt to fuck though and I kept dying trying to pass it. I'd die, res closer to the other side, inch forwards, die again rinse and repeat. 4 deaths in I saw that there was a random NPC out in the open so I spoke to her and she changed the time of the area and all the fire went away, so I could run to Silverpine without problems.
I learnt how to use Chromie, where portal rooms are, more about dungeons, my way around Ogrimarr to get a mount (It's fucking confusing) and just generally increased my game knowledge a lot. I had to google some stuff, but it was all oh, so worth it.
I played over the course of two weekends and finally got my lvl 60 in Spires, after doing a pretty fucking awesome quest chain with some big fucking bird spirit who you controlled and went aroung slashing people a few times with your wings. My /played at lvl 60 was over 22 hours lmao. 22 hours well spent though IMO. Thanks so much for the guide!

@Greenburg22 title is true, he has video proof. Obviously you're not going to make the grind perfect and 3 hours isn't guaranteed, but if you find a better method let us know
@@bongsesh The title isn't true you have to spend alot of time getting the dalanar HS and moving to Silverpine Forest. The guide will help you lvl fast but it wont be in 3 hours

@@Ephidell The title is true. It was a world record speed run. I do this in a 7-8 hours, but i mess about a little bit.
@@Ephidell it takes literally 2 minutes to get the hearthstone. I just teleport to dalaran. Which prompts to leave tutorial. Go to the quest board. Accept the legion quest line. Talk to the ARchmage and he gives it to you. You can do that as soon as you get to ogrimmar.
At the moment camping the elemental event is insane experience. I went from 42 to 60 on my lock in two hours just afk dotting stuff
It's not bad, but that's significantly slower than my route.

I love videos like this, even if Im the kind of sap that role-plays (in my head) as I go leveling a new toon.
Eh, I also took the route of leveling my warrior starting with the dwarven starting zone and just stayed in the vanilla world. Leveling is really fast these days, and you don't even have to jump straight into the later expansions.
Since the Dragonflight leveling nerf I have leveling up the old BFA alts i left untouched for all of Shadowlands, and been loving your speed leveling videos.
I started upgrading the heirlooms even tho when they were changed i felt it was a scam and too much money for very short level brackets. Do you have any recomendations on them? I saw your old video but it was mostly on the rings and weapons.
Have you tried the pre-patch heirloom trinket? Is it worth upgrading? I will try to farm it bcuz FOMO
I haven't tested the new heirloom trinket, and likely won't get much time to given my busy schedule over the next few weeks. You should definitely farm it though. As for whether it's worth it to upgrade heirlooms, it depends on how much gold you have and how many alts you plan on leveling. Totally your call.

A few more timestamps for those looking specifically for the more Alliance focused parts:

I appreciate this, but keep in mind that the video is structured this way because there's a bit of information overlap between the Horde/Alliance sections. As a result, if you're skipping past either faction's section, you may need to rewind a bit to get the information you missed, especially for the WoD zones.
@@Harldan1 Indeed, but they are helpful for returning back to specific spots after the first time like how one puts bookmarks on a textbook. I did it more for myself to be honest.

It's possible I misunderstood the pathing but I followed this as best I could, and ended HIllsbrad (as horde warrior) at 35.
same 39 as demon hunter and not completing the group elites in the area
Not entirely sure why, but I finished all of hillsbrad and the draenor opener by 35

Sometimes it's hilarious to see people attempting to give suggestions/ potential corrections that are obvious to a normal casual wow player, let alone to a speed running god. Keep up the great man, love your videos!
I haven't played in a few patches so my characters are level 45, and when I attempted to skip to that section to Gorgrond the quests gave like 50-500 xp at most and I was one shotting most mobs. I had to do some researching and I'm guessing you're supposed to interact with Chromie to time travel to that part? or is there a better way for returning player/characters to level?
Surprised Legion didn't make the cut. Valsharah and Highmountain are great once you have flying. How was the speed on Shadowlands? I assume terrible, what with all the RP.
A lot of zones are great once you have flying, but you have to compare them against Hillsbrad, Loch Modan, and Gorgrond, which are all extremely efficient zones. I might make a video covering some other alternative zones like WPL/EPL or Stonetalon Mountains in the future, but I wanted to keep this video focused purely on the fastest stuff.
As for Shadowlands, it's actually not even working currently on the beta, but it's safe to say that it won't be efficient. Threads of Fate probably still wouldn't have been worth it, but it's something I would have at least considered looking into. The Shadowlands campaign, on the other hand, is one of the least efficient leveling experiences ever designed, so I don't even need to test that to say it won't be fast.
The horde side part of the guide I think might not be 100%, I followed it specifically to a T and ended up finishing hillsbarad wayyyy under the level the guide listed I should be, that includes rares and extra quests finished in hillsbarad that the guide told me to skip. My solution for this was to actually head back to the snowy area in WOD and do more quests that the guide didn't say to do until I was the proper level to move on to the next step
ive done this method twice now and i end at Tarren Mill/Hillbsrad 100% level 38 with everything done in the zone.... idk what im missing

I found another comment where Harldan says to go to Spires of Arak if you're lacking experience at this point in the run.
I did notunderstand most of this guide. It asumes You already know and played in so much places that I can't find without a route or at least a written guide (the website have no guide, only link to the vídeo lol)

really like your guide and its been extremely helpful even for super new noobs like me, however your video was hard to follow which character was which and being a noob I had no clue what areas were horde, alliance and made it difficult to follow where to go next, just tips for next time. cheers.

Sorry to hear that, I'd recommend submitting a ticket, hopefully Blizzard will fix it for anyone in a similar situation who attempts this in the future.

yeah the back and forth between horde and alliance made this difficult to follow for me too, and i didn't skip through it, could have just made two different guides or split the video into two halves, eh ill look for another guide
After you get your dalaran hearth and go back to org , do you go back to current time or stay in chromid time from legion?
Hey. Thanks for your great guides. I recently noticed that while in Chromie Time, exploration is giving insane amounts of experience (1k xp per area discovered at lvl 59 which I think needs 80k or so to level). Might be interesting to check it out if you hadn't noticed.
This isn't worth routing in, but it is part of the reason why I opt not to use the scouting map for WoD.
idk why so many people think they're gonna actually get the exact time of a speedrunner who has been practicing these routes for far longer. Its only natural that people are slower on their first times. Nobody can pull off a perfect speedrun on their first attempt otherwise the top 100 would be filled with almost the exact same times.

Great guide!! I have a problem though, when I get to the end of Hillsbrad Foothills I'm only 36.5, I tried to do the route on 2 different characters and same results. What would you recommend to do from 36 to 45?
Just continue along the route, you'll be fine.

I'm so ready to start this (sarcastically) long leveling adventure, but there are few questions that come to mind. Dragonflight expansion was released 3 days ago, and I haven't played the game for around 2 years or so. I've been watching guides all day long trying to get information but most of them are very different or conditioned to certain event experience buff like the famous 18% extra xp that was available few weeks ago or the elemental invasion zones. As far as I know, these chances of getting extra or fast xp are no longer in the current patch. My account is completely fresh. I don't have any toys, not that much gold either, but I got access to Chromie and perfectly follow your guide. How accurate is it considering I will level without any experience buffs and the current patch is 10.0.2?
The guide is brand new, so it's made for the current patch. It's also not designed with 0 XP buffs in mind, through they will help you complete the process faster.
Scouting Map was 10K gold for me not 5k, great guide!
I'm not sure if it's any more efficient, but something of note when starting the WoD questline that I generally do since there's like 2-3 quests per and it doesn't take too long (again, haven't done the math) but I generally abandon the quest as soon as I get to Blasted Lands and do the pre-intro quests too. Could probably skip going back to your capital city though and get the proper intro quest back from your journal.
I have a bunch of level 50s that have already completed the WoD zones and Redridge/Duskwood/Loch Modan. What'd be the recommended zones after them?
Maybe you mentioned it and i didnt realize or maybe something has changed but after completing the WoD into and hitting 35 when i returned to Hillsbrad i was getting sub par exp, enabling Cataclysm Chromie time fixed that issue.
Thanks for the guide. I am level 55 on a char and haven't followed your guide as of so far. Would you recommend jumping in at 45-60 part and go back to garrison and fly to the destination you recommend ?
My recommendation would be Hillsbrad for Horde and Loch Modan for Alliance. There's some more information at the bottom of the written guide.
leveling in wow is so painful but the various iteration of this guide has made it feel like enjoyable. My in between/pre patch activity

Some timesaves I can offer -- if you select the Legion Timewalking option from Chromie, you can walk to the nearest Hero's Call Board and accept "Tanaan Jungle" which is effectively the same quest as the intro Chromie Time quest. Also, for Alliance characters, they receive a temporary hearthstone to Stormwind when they accept the Legion quest, which can be used in place of the Dalaran hearthstone (but be warned, it has a 2 hour cooldown instead of a 30 minute one).
Neither of these would be applicable.

@@Harldan1 Righto! Your guide has been fantabulous so far. However, I just completed everything in Loch Modan and am only 44 rather than 50. Should I just head back to Draenor now or is there an in between I can spend the next six levels?
Edit: I decided to go back to Pandaria because it's a favourite of mine. Will pick up your guide again when I hit 50!
@@ryadaj2220 You can just continue along the route and it will be fine. There's a lot of buffer stuff at the end of the zone in case you fall behind the suggested level brackets. Gorgrond and Talador give a LOT of experience.
