I honestly always find that I get to the end of your videos, 1, after laughing a number of times, 2, after learning a whole bunch (which I don’t do so well normally). And 3, thinking, “wait!? It’s over!?!?” Ughhhh.
I think it’s cause you legitimately make it interesting!
Oh and 4, “I wish I could find opal even though I’m in Australia...” think I need to get off my “donkey” and do something about that.
Thank you as always man, for doing what you do.
    Stay well my opal wizard!

@@PulitzerOpal : ha ha - no , spell checker must be mortally offended by your enterprising way with words (or word , singular , anyway - if you have any more , er , gems , please share them) . You have been cutting opals , to a high standard , for a heck of a long time - and it shows . I am very grateful for all of them , as are many others , certainly by your viewing figures : but here's the thing . It is so important for anyone , that when they do something really well , that people make a point of telling them so - consider your self duly told , and thanked : really , thank you so much for the casual , calm and knowledgeable way you bring out the beauty of these gifts from Nature . Here is something you might like , and apologies if not : this is the only full four verse version of this song , beloved by millions in its two verse format . It's the only musically creative project I have ever been involved with , and am very proud , so please forgive me . These wonderful young musicians gave up a Sunday to record this , and I will be forever grateful , and in awe of their respective talents - and told them so , many times since . Licensing took a subsequent 11 months , and that is another story in itself - i am currently writing a book about it , to be called The Lost Verses : everyone involved , and the cat (Kitty) , are all doing well . Thank you again for your work , and look forward to your next video . Best Wishes from London .(Grant Maclean). drive.google.com/file/d/1UZiULpExpwUGjEG6ceFAReAqVeDQfkRa/view

@@PulitzerOpal Thank you very much for your kind , and encouraging words , and thank you for taking the time to both watch and reply . Maybe you find the creative process with cutting an opal similar - in the sense that you take your time , and you will realise ''well , if i shave down that side , this would happen ...'' , or something like that . This is the first creative art / music project i have ever done , and I am really , really proud . The images , and which line of the song they would fit , came over a six month or so period , mainly in the early morning - so much so that i would go to bed with a notebook + pen on the quilt cover , ready . I very much hope to ''break a finger'' with the book - i'm guessing that is the same as the backstage theatre wish of ''break a leg'' . All the very best to you , and I look forward to coming to your shop , asap , for something special .

@@PulitzerOpal - that's very interesting , thank you . None of the song would have sounded unfamiliar - as Charlotte Algar , the singer says , there is not much happens melodically , it really is all about the lyrics ., beautiful and memorable though the melody is . I have been unable to find a full , four verse version as a vinyl release . On UA-cam , I can find only one rendition , in its entirety , which is accompanied by a slideshow of shipwrecks , recorded , audio only , live at a club in London , probably '67 / 8 / 9 . The same track has also been set to a 'lyrics on screen' video . There are two three verse versions , again live , by Procol Harum , one recorded in a venue called Union Chapel , a church near me in North London , and one recorded in Paris , in the 1970s . I have been unable to find a four verses cover by anyone , and there are literally hundreds on UA-cam , across all genres . It actually became something of a hobby , intermittently revisited , searching for versions . There are several reggae versions , hardcore trance , orchestral , jazz and multiple solo instrumentals . Violin , bagpipes , pan pipes . harp , many different keyboard , piano and organ versions . In the go to ''shipwreck''one , there are beautiful keyboard sequences by Matthew Fisher , but I decided to drop a lot of these , and asked Matteo to do some improvisation of his own , as I did all the musicians in Verse 4 , so after each line , the drums , guitar , bass and keys all do a little solo , as I wanted each one of them to have a little demo . All this we submitted as the Arrangements . This did all start as I wanted to hear a woman sing the last two verses , and this is what my research turned up . I was quite clear with Bucks Music Group , from the second e mail , that I wished to record the full version a) for commercial release and b) to use the video on my website . After some 130 e mails , and 11 months , they gave Permission for the former , but not the latter . The band and I are so grateful , and I will never , ever regret a penny (some £1200 + approx eventually) or minute spent on this , just for the audio alone . If you know of a full verse version , or maybe you could ask any of your band mates , it would be wonderful to hear one , as the live one on UA-cam is entrancing as it is . omg - even your Jim Henson got in on it - there is a Muppets version . A Japanese language one I am fond of , and also a Khmer version . The song just opens up to you , the more you search . Flute too , and some lovely harmonica covers - King Curtis with a divine sax masterclass also , I've got that on now , actually . Enough already . Best Wishes .

@@PulitzerOpal : you may well have heard the whole song , though - this is (imho) the mind blowing aspect , that these verses have been hiding 'in plain sight' , all this time . OMG! Dude! I've been a jeweler almost my entire adult life! I am now 75! Opals are expensive and very fragile and if you don't know what youre doing, you can fracture a stone in one short blink of an eye! So now you have a person cutting and grinding prongs on an expensive gold setting, or pushing a bezel over a stone ( if they even know to do that) and then breaking an expensive opal!
Might I suggest that anyone wanting to make jewelry and set stones, should start out making a whole lot of jewelry and set a lot of cheaper stones before you attempt a nice opal! Trust me - every jeweler on the planet has had a learning curve with opal and emeralds! I mean, breaking out in sweats and coming close to having a heart attack, worrying about not breaking your customers precious stones! Setting stones is a very practiced skill! I taught silversmithing for many years and taught people how to do these skills so I know exactly what I'm talking about!

    • @tonitouchberry894
      @tonitouchberry894 4 роки тому

@@PulitzerOpal of course you know how because you have put in your time and effort and I'm sure have broken a few. So you have had your learning curve! As a matter of fact, I'm jealous! I just love the beauty of opal and I wish I had a work bench set up right beside you! It's just that you were telling people to just run out there and do it and then you show $5000 stones and my mind envisioned disaster waiting to happen! Most people don't understand their value! For instance! I gave a large maybe 3O CT fractured but beautiful opal to my adult niece and said! Hang on to this honey and when you're ready I will recut it and make something for you! Her 12 year old niece thought it was a pretty stone so she gave it to her! That's the last time it was seen! On today's marker it was easily a $10,000 stone!👿😠😬
Honey! You are living "my" opal dreams. I can only wish you the very best, my friend!

Donald so funny and educational on so many levels!😂😂❤️. Could you give us your take on building a the Pyramids at Giza and settle the disputes for once and what they were actually used for. You can be a expert, just put a few footnotes by some Dr. at end . I am sure you have great insight after cutting so many stones. You just have to recall what you forgot! Great video! Like the LSU lid. 😂❤️❤️❤️

Pulitzer Opal How about your life’s career. That be very interesting. Just state you can’t answer any questions on specific cases. Just you take on what you seen thru your life would be fascinating. Your take on how years ago how you deal with things compared to changes you went thru and had to adapt to using different technology and how people get hung up on numbers. You could make it interesting and add some humor. We all need that Donald.

Oh.. good idea. I've been out of work for about three weeks. I should try making my own pendant. Or I could try fixing a ceramic dragon pendant I made but I broke the tail 😭

I liked this video. Even though that floozy kept interrupting you!😏-and to top it off, UA-cam put a bra commercial as a trailer!

Probably one of your best, but who am I to judge. Seriously great info. I was afraid to pull the trigger on Esty the prices seems to small. I will go back rewatch and take notes. Tell Sheila to take a break; I think she has cabin fever.

    You kill me mate 😂
From what I know, Boxing Day refers to the day after Xmas when the rich used to put out their used boxes for the poor.
These days we call that the recycling Truck.
You should have a million subs easy by now.....can't help some / most people I guess.

Pulitzer Opal I channel for video games 🤔?
      💩
There is just no hope for kids these days is there.....
You do what you do well, extremely well.....and I'm not gunna blow smoke up your proverbial, but UA-cam would be a much poorer place without your monthly dose of Sunshine.
So, let the gamers get their 10 million mind numbing views, and arthritis in their worn out thumbs.
I will take humour and Opal any day 🍺
