1800 carat Matrix Opal - Bigger is Better!

- In this video, I take an 1860 ct chunk of Andamooka matrix opal and cut it, grind it and polish it. I also took a 36 carat chunk of Mintabie seam opal and made a lovely cabochon out of it. The technique of treating Andamooka matrix opal is mentioned, but not discussed. Beautiful opal arrowheads are in the house and you may be amazed at their stunning, but unexpected appearance. Is is right for somebody to tell you that matrix opal will treat and then does not? I don't think so.
Watching you with my 6 year old daughter has inspired me to start dremel opal carving. We have both become obsessed, I’m super excited to start learning and seeing what beautiful stones I can uncover. I’m looking to purchase my first rough opal parcel in the next few days. Thank you for the content and advice in the videos!
You never fail to put a smile on my face, love your cats in the videos as well! 👍🏻
@@PulitzerOpal Well have a nice evening you Opaline Varmint!
Huge fan love your work. I’m a Libra arrowhead hunter my girlfriend and I watch all you videos, both of our birthstones are opal so we adore your stones. Thanks for showing us you make such beautiful opals
I love watching you go through all the steps of how you bring out the beautiful colors, cutting and grinding the pieces. The whole process is really fascinating and entertaining. I love how you talk about the personalities of each opal piece 😂. I can't thank you enough for all these videos. You brighten up my day every time I see a new video posted 🥰
Best way to wake up? A 5am Pulitzer video. A smile with my coffee.
I had to go back and take a good look at the wall of arrow heads you so casually threw in there. Those are a lot of arrow heads! I think the arrow heads you made in this video are quite charming. I love all the different kinds of opal with their quirks and assets. I am afraid I got the fever. Great video again!
Your workmanship is AWESOME, thank you for explaining the unique process that it takes to make a true gem shine like the sun 🌞
I love watching your videos. Not only are they enjoyable because of the stones themselves, but you never fail to make me laugh. Thank you.
As fellow opal enthusiasts we love watching your videos. An amazing arrowhead would be a fantastic present for my hubby’s 50th. 😉
I hope you win one! I managed to score a win of a piece of Ethiopian honeycomb opal a couple years back. Of course, now I am cutting my own opals so its no longer lonely.
I don't know whether to call your videos educational or entertaining, but what I do know is they're fascinating, compelling, almost addictive viewing (and I have a chuckle too 😄). Keep up the excellent work 👍😊
Your videos have inspired to me to hike into remote long dormant geothermal areas and start looking, people have found opals here in Iceland which are mostly a cloudy white to a pearly cream colour but there must be some with shiny bits in them somewhere.
common opal, non-precious, is actually pretty common. (excuse the lame pun).
I hope you do find something with some flash, that would be pretty neat. But you live in iceland so you are already one up on most the rest of us.
@@ThatOpalGuy Thanks, I went today and found what seemed to be an opal seam along with a bunch of Agate. Very fractured and the colour would win no prizes though.
I still am not getting notifications from your channel, I missed this video and the last one. I love watching you cut the opals and watch the kitties, but get easily distracted and watch nothing but the kitties 💖💖 thank you for more videos.

Skrrrr! HA! Cracks me up. Chloé would look beautiful in your collection. I love watching the arrowheads be made, specifically the chip, chip, chip
Back again and teaching us as always :) thanks for all the laughs and opal facts lol ;)
Your humor combined with the information is a perfect mix. Keep it up.
Ps... you opal cutting is amazing but the flinting work is just outstanding.
I’m so sorry the big matrix opal was such a disappointment! I’d never seen matrix opal until I started watching your channel. It’s so beautiful… Thanks for the video!
My wife and I can't get enough of your videos! We haven't seen them all, yet, but we are rapidly approaching that milestone! Opal-ease keep em coming! Skrrrr!
Everytime i watch this guys vids, i always forget whats around me and just enjoy what he has to offer. Out of all the Opal in this vid, i really like the colors in Red, some of those blues just really pop out!
Another great video. You and Sheila always make this grumpy old man smile.
Makes my tough mornings bright and sunny watching your videos, so grateful I found this channel. Thank you
You make it look so easy. I would sand off my fingers. Thanks for sharing.
Arrow heads, Opel, this channel,... Scrrr! Very nice.
I love your arrowheads. Each one so different, but I wouldn’t complain about any one of them.
Thank you for your kind words about the arrowheads! They are indeed unique and have their own special charm. If you ever have any questions or want to learn more about arrowhead crafting or opals, feel free to ask. Enjoy your appreciation for these beautiful creations!
Nothing better than waking up to find another Pulitzer Opal video has dropped🥰
Always a pleasure to receive a P.O notification. Regards from Scotland.
University of Columbia should add a Pulitzer prize for Best Opal Scientist. You deserve it! Making arrowheads seems so easy when you're doing it, but I'm sure it isn't.
Matrix opal today let us down but you still made something out of it. You don’t know how much I love your opal arrowheads, I made some arrowhead I made with my tribe as a kid out of Obsidian but there is something really Special about Opal. love all your videos Post more haha
I love Chloe and would point her in the right direction.
I could watch you make arrowheads all day long. They are all beautiful
I am a simple man Thank you .The Stones you find in them ugly rocks are out of this world.
You're very welcome, Jerrylay8843! Opals have a way of turning those "ugly rocks" into breathtaking gemstones. It's the magic of nature! 😊🪶🌌
This is another one of your wonderful videos. I always look forward to watching you and Sheila play.
Thank you for making your channel I know you probably hear sappy comments all the time but sometimes I get really depressed and I love opal it reminds me of heaven and of all the beautiful colors were going to see when we get there so I get to see the opal and I get to hear all your funny jokes. I'm getting to be an old woman and to be honest I haven't lived a lot I've either worked constantly or stay shut up in my house most of my life, I'm not a materialistic person so I'm not asking you to give me opals. I just wanted to say thank you cuz I know people tell you that they love your channel but I wanted you to know that you truly lift people's spirits thank you mr. Pulitzer and all your little cuddly friends, oh and Sheila to😂❤
@@PulitzerOpal they are all true my friend I call you my friend because you make my heart Happy not many people in this world do that so even though I don't know you God bless you and thank you for making me feel like I have a friend even though you don't know me from a 🐸 toad on the side of the road 🤭
@@PulitzerOpal 🐸😽🐱🐶 opals and beautiful plastic blond women with no arms don't tell Sheila I said that🤭
You're just a very kind person thank you for being you oh and by the way when you kiss a toad it doesn't turn into a Prince just so everybody knows it just turns into a very confused toad and it hopped away a lot faster than Normal then your lips taste all bitter the rest of the evening from hand sanitizer not that I know from experience or anything like just saying 🙄 kicked rocks and whistles
Opal is hands down the most beautiful and unique gem in the word to me. I am so lucky 🍀 to have it as my birthstone 🎉❤
I absolutely love watching your videos. Your humor is much appreciated!
I look forward to your video's every month. Keep them coming, and thank you for the entertainment.
I always look forward to your videos! Thank you! ❤️
As always, love your videos! The kitties are of course adorable, and the finished pieces were beautiful!
Never dissappointed with a Pulitzer Opal video! Thanks for more education and entertinment!
Love your style & sense of humor.
Love your videos. I’m always learning something about my birthstone! Since Shiela is such a good helper, she deserves to wear an Opal necklace for the videos! Just a suggestion. 😂😂
Thanks again! I love your talents mixed with humor. Keep up the good work
Who wouldn't love a hunka chunka opal and do a bit of alchemy to make it spectacular. Thanks for the training in using dangerous things to enhance its beauty. Watch out for cracks. They could crack you up at any time. Loved the knaping. I'm always up for a short knap. I'm glad you spun your magic wheel and chased away the black blot on your otherwise beautiful stone. Keep attempting to have fun.😊
I never miss one of your videos. Thank you.
Love your sense of humor, and that you combine two of my favorite things: Opals and Projectile Points.
Yeah, Shelia is not Number 2.
Oh my, that Mintabie cab is lovely indeed! Really like the arrowheads and lance points.
Very good video again as always, love your work, when I mined at Mintabie, Mintabie was providing more opal to the world than all the other opal fields of Australia put together. Before Mintabie township was named Mintabie Black and Black crystal was taken to Lightning Ridge and sold as A grade Lightning ridge opal. When the township of Mintabie was established the opal then became world renowned. Please say hallow to Sheila😉.
Cheers digger
@@PulitzerOpal I removed my from earth in the 80s a lot from Crystal Vally, the opal is very hard very stable and gorgeous. On the hardness scale Mintabie is about the hardest opal of all. Again I am a huge fan / follower of your videos, a salute to you Colonel.
Lovely stones, even untreated, as always great fun to watch ❤️
Your work is amazing! And you have now inspired me to name all of my opals and describe their characteristics lol that’s one of my favorite parts of the videos. Thank you so much for all of the entertainment and knowledge that you’ve given us and Riley is awesome!! I go to 53 frogs first to get my Rough opal! He’s super nice and really good at getting back to any questions that I have. I am excited to have found your page!!

Love all your cabs.
Excellent work. Some extremely nice gems from your work.
It must be frustrating to spend a large amount of money on an opal to treat only to discover that the process did not work. Good thing Shela is there to console you. I bet you had someone in mind while creating those arrowheads. The seam opal was transformed into something spectacular, You are always very entertaining and full of valuable information.
@@PulitzerOpal Nice, I very much enjoy your videos and am happy to read that it was not a shady dealer. Your ability to spin an entertaining tale while teaching is truly an art. Thanks.
I’ve learned lots watching your videos!
Fescue is a grass. Fez a hat, but I’m betting you knew that. Sheila looks great in the fez. Love your videos, they always put a smile on my face. Plus the opal, ❤❤❤❤!!
Outstanding work on your videos. I love your storytelling!
Great video as always! Red looks amazing, but so does the arrowheads. 👌
it is nice to see what you make out of "failed" stones others would not consider worth working on
Awesome 😎 love the arrow heads , really cool nice to see something different.
@@PulitzerOpal I don't watch anybody else :D.
Love your arrowheads!
I'm thrilled to hear that you love the arrowheads, and thanks for being a subscriber! Keep an eye out for more content like this in the future.
