I had two of these, I still see them getting used by wedding photographers all the time, often as their main camera. It's got a great sensor, and if you install Magic Lantern, really quite powerful. Magic Lantern isn't available for all Canon cameras, this one is even more useful than its specs indicate.

Did Magic Lantern make the 6D battery run out faster? Did it get overheat?

I would advise setting the focus in manual mode. This will be the most reliable
With Magic lantern it is much better!
