That’s the treatment kong deserved in GvK regardless of experience he should’ve decimated those nozuki low diff. I still think he should’ve put up more of a fight against Godzilla but I hope he gets his deserved treatment in TNE
For me overall the Kong anime show I feel like was fine. Action wise it was good but that’s all u can really say about it. The dialogue Ngl felt like I was watching an mcu show at times and majority of the jokes just didn’t really land. Like the show was trying WAY too hard to be quirky. Even Godzilla the series had better dialogue than that.
I can see why you'd feel that way. I mean personally I loved the dialogue and humor, it all felt real to me and I hate when dialogue sounds too "filmy". Glad you enjoyed the action though!
Yeah it was pretty good. To younger generations rn this is gonna give them the same feels that Godzilla The Series and the Kong Animated show did. Hopefully seeing as they're opening themselves up to both Anime and TV (with Legacy of Monsters), they can do something related to explorers within the Hollow Earth following GXK: TNE.
I honestly love this series! SPOILERS I like how they hide the krakens face until the final fight and when they actually show it the kraken is unexpected and terrifying!
I’m glad you enjoyed the series , I did too. The show reminded me alot of the 1998 Godzilla series , and the cancelled 1996 Kong film , and the monster thriller film “deep rising”. And I’m really hood we get a season 2 , because I really want to know what happens next.
The series was quite fascinating on how more lore of Kong’s character was shown, especially with from him fighting Monstrous Chameleons with his friends, to taking revenge on the Kraken and keeping his title as King of Skull Island, It has you wondering how he’ll be doing in GvK: The New Empire!🦖🪓🦍
Great review! I just finally sat down to watch this, and it's nice to have some new Kongtent from one of the greatest creators in the community! I loved the show too. It was fun, exciting and heartfelt. I loved the characters, with Annie (despite her cranky personality lol) and the Island Girl being my favourites, and like you said, the dialogue and jokes surprisingly landed for me. The art and creatures designs were super cool too. And Kong himself? Oh man, even though he wasn't in the series as much as I'd like, he was portrayed amazingly when he was on screen. In my humble opinion, he's the best he's ever been in the MonsterVerse. They combined the total badass wrecking machine of KSI with the emotionally relatable hero of GVK to make for a very compelling version of Kong. That episode told from his POV, more or less, was one of the most interesting pieces of Kong media ever. I just wanted to give Kong a big ol' hug by the end of the episode. Haha and when he finally got to fight the Kraken (who I love too! Such a cool moster), it was so satisfying, after the way they handled Kong's fights in GVK. It was great to see Kong take care of himself and fight without needing to be saved constantly from human interference, while still having to struggle to survive, resulting in an engaging battle that was fun to watch. As for Kong's design, I totally understand why you wouldn't like it. He doesn't look much like MV Kong, but personally, I don't mind it at all. I actually like it a lot, cause he reminds me of the Dino De Laurentiis Kong (especially KK76), and he's one of my favourite versions of Kong, so it was a fun little change of design for me, even if it didn't make too much sense. There were a couple shots where his face looked bad, though. Like, his face at certain times looked too flat, almost like a human, and his nose has a little too small for my taste. A broader, more gorilla-like nose would've enhanced his looks a lot. And lastly, as for whether this series really matters, I agree with you in the sense that it doesn't matter for the MonsterVerse, since it will, most likely, not have any effect on the greater story of Kong, since it takes place in the past, but I think it does matter for the King Kong franchise overall. It provided a fun story, great characters and a Kong we can be proud of. We were lucky with this, as it could've easily turned out the way other recent giant monster animes have, but thankfully it turned out to be a very well made show, and I'm really looking forward to a potential second season. As for the show, man I just loved loved LOVED the characters. Even the action, despite the chameleons not being amazing or the Skull Crawler showing up for half a second, was still easily some of the best fights in the Monsterverse to date. I agree bro, Kong is the best in this show than he ever has been in the Monsterverse so far. I'm really hoping if we got to see more Kong media with him as an adult that he at least has several feats that shorten the gap between him and the other alpha's in terms of their strength and durabilities. Him going up again Superman and Supergirl and Green Lantern seems cool, so we'll see what happens there haha but whether that's canon or not I still think it would be a good idea for this show to end up providing. Or a comic. Or GxK. I agree with all your other thoughts as well. This show genuinely took Kong's character to an extreme I've only seen from The Animated Series, and saying it worked well is a HUGE understatement. They went above and beyond here, and I'm all for Brian Duffield and the team characterizing him as a badass lonely sympathetic young-in-training hero. GvK really fucked Kong over by having him get saved 8 times in a row, and GxK isn't looking much better to be honest. But hopefully it isn't as bad as some leaks say, and really hoping Legendary starts treating their money-maker better. Godzilla is being treated well, which I love, but Kong needs some love as well. I think a lot of the MV monsters need more love. Honestly dude yeah the design is growing on me too. I know I wrote this review a while back, and while I do think he looks disgusting from certain angles (very much like the humanoid Boom Gods of Skull Island design or the humanoid half man half Kong design from The Legend of King Kong), I can see the resemblance! It's very helpful when conveying emotions but I do think they can get away with redesigning the head slightly to make it a bit MORE like MV Kong. If they don't I'm definitely not gonna dramatically hold it against the show or anything, especially if the characters are genuinely well-written and very much like the first season. I really enjoy when he's roaring though, his face looks great in those shots and in shots like 18:57 or 10:54. Actually in 10:54 Kong looked exactly like 2005 which I especially loved. Kong looks great in like 70% of his screen-time, really it's just the still frames like 13:58 where I think "god he doesn't look great there". I think you're right, a more gorilla-like nose would help and I also think the space between his mouth and his nose is too great. Also his head might be a tad bit too big in relations to MV Kong. Other then that I did over-dramiticize it a bit here but if they don't change the design I'm not gonna dock the show any metaphorical points in the later seasons. While it is still irrelevant in the long run for the Monsterverse, if it were released in 2018 or 2019 or even 2020 it would act as a much more important piece of MV media. I'm very shocked and surprised people have issues with the show, because as a 21 year old I'm so tired of the shitty marvel humor and this show didn't have that in the slightest. It had Mary Sues and, to a very very small extent, the "you boys need help?" stronk woman stereotype the Marvel movies have, but that's it! Which is a huge plague in and of itself within ALL media, so the fact that this show didn't get hit with that stereotype even harder to pander makes me so relieved, and Brian tweeting the show will have no Mary Sues in season 2 makes me even more hopeful! Cannot WAIT for Season 2, really hoping we get more fights like this and more badass large scary monsters like The Kraken!!!
I honestly was kind of disappointed that we didn't get a whole of kong. I didn't think it was bad, but I feel like it could have been better. Overall I would give it a 6/10. It was an ok show. But I have hopes for season 2.

I will admit I felt the exact same way. We don't need to hold back as much as we did in Phase 1 because we KNOW Kong, we KNOW Godzilla. They shouldn't shy away from the monsters, it's time to go full force now. We need MORE scenes with just Kong and Goji alone. More scenes where they're developed and way more monster fights with less human cuts. This show should definitely increase the action because it's an anime and you can get away with more action, so they can capitalize on that. More episodes like the last two would work wonders for the show! I have hopes for Season 2 as well. Brian Duffield seems like someone who genuinely listens to the fans while also working with Legendary and the budget/production needs. What REALLY sold me was the characters. They're all great and I love how much energy they all have. They seem very "real", except for Cap who is a Mary Sue imo.

Upon their arrival, they discover that the island has changed Irene Annie and Sam’s team meet up with a wander ship temple and its people of natives. The natives, revealed to be the Iwi tribe from the Monster Verse lore, have been caring for Charlie and Mike but for some reason dog and cap have been missing somewhere on the island. The Iwi tribe’s mysterious methods have healed mike’s chest wound and given them a new perspective on the island’s inhabitants. Charlie confesses to stealing a sacred necklace from Kong, because he did it so Kong can kill the kraken and they can escape the island. So glad to see you liked it. It gets way too much hate from fans. And it certainly has the best humans of the MonsterVerse so far. For Kong's size in the show, I asked Brian Duffield and he said the point was for Kong to be exactly in-between 2017 and 2021, which would make him 220 feet, 45,000 tons, which lines up with Birth of Kong since he was said to be over 2x his 2017 size there. As for Kong's face, when he roars he looks great, but otherwise he looks really different, more human, and that's simply because of Powerhouse's art style. With the Chameleons, Brian Duffield said they're stronger than Skull Crawlers, and we see how agile and resilient they are. In real life Chameleons can fight off snakes several times their size. But most of Kong's struggle there comes from him being more focused on trying to help his friend. Otherwise, he had it handled at the start. Are you gonna make a video on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters? It looks amazing and Kong has a high likelihood of appearing in it, which I didn't expect.

I can see WHY when it comes to some of the more fantastical elements or something like The Kraken, though it's a bit weird people don't care about Na Kika's design yet they draw the line at The Kraken. But yeah, I love that monster as well as the characters in the show. They're amazing and I hope to see LoM top them! Yeah Kong looks super badass in a lot of shots then looks like a fucking weirdo in most others. Whether the chameleons are stronger or not, I mean that's cool but Skull Crawler's are canon fodder regardless so literally anything is better than them. I think they could definitely be more creative than those guys. Cool monsters but they still shouldn't have been that tough for him to fight even when he was battling them and not focused on his lady friend. Also he needs to battle more titans and deadly opponents with crazy feats. I'd love to make that video in time, so I'll try to hustle for it when I'm a bit more prepared. I asked some questions about the big bad of Season 2, and Brian Duffield confirmed it'll be a horror monster, a physical challenge for Kong, it'll have powers, it'll have multiple fights, and apparently it's some kind of bug. With the implication that it comes from Hollow Earth. Sounds awesome, so I hope we get a Season 2.

@@kongkingofthehollowearth1706 It ranges from a head taller than Kong to twice his height, but it's overall mass extends way more than that. Since Kong is 220 feet, I would say he's probably around 300-400 feet tall. Average or slightly above for a Titan.
Nice review. I will say you quite positive on the human characters. Your thoughts on where the show takes place reminded me of Omniviewer's thoughts on it. For me I was very excited to see this series when it was announced and I enjoyed watching it. I did like the design of the kraken and the fight between Kong and the kraken. I really didn’t mind the design of kong in the show I thought he look really cool I like the show but I had some problems with some of the human characters except annie she’s my favorite human character and that native girl who’s a friend of kong I give this show a 7/10
I totally get you. It was way too jarring for me at first but I got used to it. Annie is amazing haha I love her, just want her to actually have some struggle and not be a mary sue! Native girl was excellent too. Much like Lua but reimagined for the MV!

I have yet to see skull island yet. But i am going to wait until monarch legacy of monsters releases to watch it. So i can watch two monsterverse shows. And i didn't know there was going to be a season two?! And 4/5 kaiju for it? That sounds fun!!! I really hope those kaiju do different things compared to each other. For example. One can fly. Or one can have spikes all over its body and blades that will make it a big challenge for Kong. And he will have to think and strategies to take it down. Something like that. Also. Off topic question. I know this is going to sound super dumb. Or that i may sound really stupid asking this question. But how do i make the bone structure for a model? I haven't been able to figure that out. And what do i have to do to make eyes? I have no clue on how to do those. Do i just make circles and mirror it into the models head? (I have no idea how to make a circle in blender), or is it something more complicated? I'm asking because i have not been able to figure it out. Do i need to click the middle part on the mouse? Or is it in the system itself? (The mouse i have at the moment does not click, which is why I'm asking that) and again. Sorry if this bothers you. Or sounds dumb. I'm just lost on what I'm supposed to do for that.

Honestly it depends. We haven't had a proper size or weight of the Kraken, or even of Kong, but there's a pretty good chance that Camazotz is much much larger and probably heavier. I honestly am wondering like everyone else on what happened to Mike and Charlie? Did they survive, did one of them make it out alive or are they both gone? We can forget about dog though, and worry more about Kong’s bird friend he’s leagues better than the living atrocity which is dog. Also I’m pleased that Kong finally defeated a titan without human help and brutally finished it off barehanded as well, though I am worried a lot that in the Monarch tv show they’ll give Godzilla human help, which is I’ll be honest a massive turn off for me especially when the writers would come up with an excuse about why he needed help instead making it interesting by making him struggle to the brink of seeing him the heavenly gates and outsmart his enemies even if he is outnumbered. It’s one of the many gripes I have with the writers and directors trying to justify the same cheap narrative of giving any giant monster human help.
I'm really really hoping they don't give Goji human help in his fights. Nor does he power-up through plot means and win. I think it would be great seeing him dig down and find the power within himself to beat his opponent. Kong just got treated so much worse in GvK so I would say he definitely needed it more then Godzilla, but Godzilla still needs more wins on his own where the fights are as well made as the Kong anime. Oh no but wait that would mean Godzilla is characterized too much which Toho HATES. I have a teacher who worked on a piece of IDW Godzilla media that Toho kept sending notes over claiming that Godzilla has too much personality or character and they want him to be a god with zero feelings and depth and emotions. That only works in some cases but not as a character with multiple films that we're supposed to emotionally connect with him on.

As for Toho not wanting Godzilla to have a personality and them still being too controlling over his character’s growth, that’s something really needs to change especially with those in charge at Toho though it may take decades before that happens. But nevertheless it was good to see Kong take down the kraken-xeno looking titan on his own in the water where it was the strongest as well, it was a genuinely good surprise I welcomed since Kong definitely earned especially since it also avenged the redhead Kong was close too and the whale it tossed. I’m also hoping for dog to not return next season.

It was great but it's overall plot is kind of not there for me, the Kraken was however a great explanation as to why Kong did alright against Godzilla in the water rather than getting bodied.
When you said your favorite part was the characters and the dialogue I was waiting for you to say “just kidding” or something because those two things are absolutely the worst part of the show, the dialogue and humor (or lack there of) is akin to that of a Disney channel show with all of the corny one liners and same goes for the characters. I’ll watch a season 2, but only because im starved for Kong content.
It's okay but it honestly is just way too boring. Characters are bland, boring monster action, visuals too dark and bleak, boring story-line, etc. But at least it gets the pass of being the starting film despite doing so many things badly. KOTM is even worse because G14 was boring, but KOTM is just frustratingly bad.
I mean it was fine, had good action but it really didn't add anything to the lore of MV as a whole. As someone who doesn't go into these shows and movies strictly for the action it was very underwhelming. Not to mention it was very inconsistent with the MV in terms of monster designs. The overall story is basic and is basically the same as KSI. But this is strictly my opinion and I'm very glad so many enjoyed it. It just didn't click with me.
I totally understand, again this show isn’t for everybody. As you know I shared the same complaint of the show not adding anything lore-wise, but I thought the characters being super well-written broke a ton of new ground for the MV which has always had otherwise lacking character quality. I liked the kraken design a lot, it looked alien for a minute then just looked like an updated Gezora. Just a cool squid Titan. I thought it was very fitting though especially considering Amhuluk and Tiamat exist, plus all the other skull island creatures. The story seemed good and it doesn’t look like it’s over, but I think it did the job very well. Of course this is all subjective. I’m not going in it just for the action, but action is still incredibly important so the fights need to be as enthralling as the characters are. I’ve just come to expect so little from the MV that all i WANT are the good fights (which is the main MV selling point) so I can have a break from the often terribly written humans and storylines. Skull Island was different thought. It stood out and had great writing as well as fights which is the secret sauce if you ask me. You have good characters, fights, and storylines, then you have the keys to making a good entertaining kaiju film/show.

The writing for the characters is good, not groundbreaking but they aren't insufferable (Kotm, gvk, take notes lol) and yeah good action is always a must. Characters being good IS a groundbreaking for the MV, even though in terms of general film they aren’t anything super special. Really really hoping the Apple TV Show is gonna follow in this shows footsteps in terms of character quality. Im hoping this isn’t the same case as what happened with K:SI and KOTM where the former was well received / relatively enjoyable and showed growth from G14 in regards to monster action, VFX, and character writing, then KOTM comes in and shows a regression of that quality where they just walked backwards. Characters were worse, action was worse, VFX were worse, etc etc. GvK showed progression, so hopefully with the same director and feedback from GvK we get more improvement rather then the backpedaling. And same with the shows; hopefully instead of the improvement to downgrade pattern we instead get a improvement to improvement pattern.

Gvks characters where finebut they where incredibly shallow and stereotypical, Kotm may have had 2 really irritating characters but hey had some real emotional ones. But best human characters goes to KSI. Everyone was likeable an root-able. 2014 while the most high quality of the 4 suffered from having a wooden ass main character

I can't think of a more amazing predecessor! Really can't wait to see more titan fights and I hope they keep up with this awesome character writing!

The show reminded me alot of the 1998 Godzilla series , and the cancelled 1996 Kong film , and the monster thriller film “deep rising”.
And I’m really hood we get a season 2 , because I really want to know what happens next.
The series was quite fascinating on how more lore of Kong’s character was shown, especially with from him fighting Monstrous Chameleons with his friends, to taking revenge on the Kraken and keeping his title as King of Skull Island, It has you wondering how he’ll be doing in GvK: The New Empire!🦖🪓🦍
Great review! I just finally sat down to watch this, and it's nice to have some new Kongtent from one of the greatest creators in the community!
I loved the show too. It was fun, exciting and heartfelt. I loved the characters, with Annie (despite her cranky personality lol) and the Island Girl being my favourites, and like you said, the dialogue and jokes surprisingly landed for me. The art and creatures designs were super cool too.
And Kong himself? Oh man, even though he wasn't in the series as much as I'd like, he was portrayed amazingly when he was on screen. In my humble opinion, he's the best he's ever been in the MonsterVerse. They combined the total badass wrecking machine of KSI with the emotionally relatable hero of GVK to make for a very compelling version of Kong. That episode told from his POV, more or less, was one of the most interesting pieces of Kong media ever. I just wanted to give Kong a big ol' hug by the end of the episode. Haha and when he finally got to fight the Kraken (who I love too! Such a cool moster), it was so satisfying, after the way they handled Kong's fights in GVK. It was great to see Kong take care of himself and fight without needing to be saved constantly from human interference, while still having to struggle to survive, resulting in an engaging battle that was fun to watch.
As for Kong's design, I totally understand why you wouldn't like it. He doesn't look much like MV Kong, but personally, I don't mind it at all. I actually like it a lot, cause he reminds me of the Dino De Laurentiis Kong (especially KK76), and he's one of my favourite versions of Kong, so it was a fun little change of design for me, even if it didn't make too much sense. There were a couple shots where his face looked bad, though. Like, his face at certain times looked too flat, almost like a human, and his nose has a little too small for my taste. A broader, more gorilla-like nose would've enhanced his looks a lot.
And lastly, as for whether this series really matters, I agree with you in the sense that it doesn't matter for the MonsterVerse, since it will, most likely, not have any effect on the greater story of Kong, since it takes place in the past, but I think it does matter for the King Kong franchise overall. It provided a fun story, great characters and a Kong we can be proud of. We were lucky with this, as it could've easily turned out the way other recent giant monster animes have, but thankfully it turned out to be a very well made show, and I'm really looking forward to a potential second season.

As for the show, man I just loved loved LOVED the characters. Even the action, despite the chameleons not being amazing or the Skull Crawler showing up for half a second, was still easily some of the best fights in the Monsterverse to date.
I agree bro, Kong is the best in this show than he ever has been in the Monsterverse so far. I'm really hoping if we got to see more Kong media with him as an adult that he at least has several feats that shorten the gap between him and the other alpha's in terms of their strength and durabilities. Him going up again Superman and Supergirl and Green Lantern seems cool, so we'll see what happens there haha but whether that's canon or not I still think it would be a good idea for this show to end up providing. Or a comic. Or GxK. I agree with all your other thoughts as well. This show genuinely took Kong's character to an extreme I've only seen from The Animated Series, and saying it worked well is a HUGE understatement. They went above and beyond here, and I'm all for Brian Duffield and the team characterizing him as a badass lonely sympathetic young-in-training hero. GvK really fucked Kong over by having him get saved 8 times in a row, and GxK isn't looking much better to be honest. But hopefully it isn't as bad as some leaks say, and really hoping Legendary starts treating their money-maker better. Godzilla is being treated well, which I love, but Kong needs some love as well. I think a lot of the MV monsters need more love.
Honestly dude yeah the design is growing on me too. I know I wrote this review a while back, and while I do think he looks disgusting from certain angles (very much like the humanoid Boom Gods of Skull Island design or the humanoid half man half Kong design from The Legend of King Kong), I can see the resemblance! It's very helpful when conveying emotions but I do think they can get away with redesigning the head slightly to make it a bit MORE like MV Kong. If they don't I'm definitely not gonna dramatically hold it against the show or anything, especially if the characters are genuinely well-written and very much like the first season. I really enjoy when he's roaring though, his face looks great in those shots and in shots like 18:57 or 10:54. Actually in 10:54 Kong looked exactly like 2005 which I especially loved. Kong looks great in like 70% of his screen-time, really it's just the still frames like 13:58 where I think "god he doesn't look great there". I think you're right, a more gorilla-like nose would help and I also think the space between his mouth and his nose is too great. Also his head might be a tad bit too big in relations to MV Kong. Other then that I did over-dramiticize it a bit here but if they don't change the design I'm not gonna dock the show any metaphorical points in the later seasons. As long as he isn't distractingly ugly haha. Hey it coulda been worse... A lot worse...

I completely agree. While it is still irrelevant in the long run for the Monsterverse, if it were released in 2018 or 2019 or even 2020 it would act as a much more important piece of MV media. It's still a fantastic show and I'm really glad the show didn't end up as some boring and forgettable piece of media. I'm very shocked and surprised people have issues with the show, because as a 21 year old I'm so tired of the shitty marvel humor and this show didn't have that in the slightest. It had Mary Sues and, to a very very small extent, the "you boys need help?" stronk woman stereotype the Marvel movies have, but that's it! Which is a huge plague in and of itself within ALL media, so the fact that this show didn't get hit with that stereotype even harder to pander makes me so relieved, and Brian tweeting the show will have no Mary Sues in season 2 makes me even more hopeful! Cannot WAIT for Season 2, really hoping we get more fights like this and more badass large scary monsters like The Kraken!!!
I honestly was kind of disappointed that we didn't get a whole of kong. I didn't think it was bad, but I feel like it could have been better. Overall I would give it a 6/10. It was an ok show. But I have hopes for season 2.

I will admit I felt the exact same way. We don't need to hold back as much as we did in Phase 1 because we KNOW Kong, we KNOW Godzilla. They shouldn't shy away from the monsters, it's time to go full force now. We need MORE scenes with just Kong and Goji alone. More scenes where they're developed and way more monster fights with less human cuts. This show should definitely increase the action because it's an anime and you can get away with more action, so they can capitalize on that. More episodes like the last two would work wonders for the show! I have hopes for Season 2 as well. Brian Duffield seems like someone who genuinely listens to the fans while also working with Legendary and the budget/production needs. What REALLY sold me was the characters. They're all great and I love how much energy they all have. They seem very "real", except for Cap who is a Mary Sue imo.

@@KingKong19100 here is a plot I am came with for season 2 After the events of Season 1 in two weeks of 1993 , Irene, Annie, and her team manage to secure the resources needed to return to Skull Island. Their mission: to rescue Cap, Mike, Charlie, and Dog. The journey back is fraught with danger and uncertainty, but their determination to save their friends keeps them going.
Upon their arrival, they discover that the island has changed Irene Annie and Sam’s team meet up with a wander ship temple and its people of natives. The natives, revealed to be the Iwi tribe from the Monster Verse lore, have been caring for Charlie and Mike but for some reason dog and cap have been missing somewhere on the island. The Iwi tribe’s mysterious methods have healed mike’s chest wound and given them a new perspective on the island’s inhabitants.
Charlie confesses to stealing a sacred necklace from Kong, because he did it so Kong can kill the kraken and they can escape the island. He expresses remorse for his actions and makes amends by helping the tribe. The Iwi tribe forgives him and shares their history and reverence for Kong through intricate cave paintings. They explain why they view Kong as a god and how their lives are intertwined with him and how Kong really cares about innocent human life.
During this time, Sam opens about his past to Irene. He shares that he lost his parents at a young age and had to take care of his younger sister. This experience made him understand what it’s like to be responsible for a child at a young age. His backstory resonates with Irene and deepens their bond.
Just as peace seems to be returning, a new threat emerges. Four Titans - Jovian Flytrap, Snare hunter Ant, Terra Gorgon, and Abyss Leviathan - awaken from a pit beneath Kong’s temple and start wreaking havoc on Skull Island sadly Kong’s temple get destroyed and crumbles to the hollow earth pit. The island trembles under their power, disrupting the delicate balance of life.
As Irene, Annie, cap, mike and her team venture deeper into Skull Island to assist Kong along with few iwi tribes, they encounter a group of Door Trap Crabs near the coastal areas. These crustacean-like creatures pose a threat with their powerful claws and hard shells. However, with quick thinking and teamwork, they manage to evade these creatures.
Meanwhile, as they traverse through a dense forest in search of Cap and Dog, they come across a group of Mother Long Legs. These gigantic spider-like creatures are initially hostile. However, in a tragic turn of events, the Hawk is severely injured during the fight. Despite its injuries, it continues to aid Kong until it succumbs to its wounds. The Hawk’s death is a heavy blow to Kong and fuels his determination to protect his island and its inhabitants.
Seeing Kong’s struggle against these powerful Titans, Irene, Annie, and her team decide not to interfere in his fight but instead focus on finding a way off the island.

Dog also joins them on their journey back to mainland as he has formed an unbreakable bond with them during their ordeal on Skull Island.
Meanwhile, Charlie and Annie find themselves drawn closer together after their shared experiences on Skull Island spark a romance between them.
Throughout this season there are subtle hints and references to “Skull Island: Birth of Kong” and other elements of the Monster Verse which include similarities between Iwi tribe’s rituals depicted in “Birth of Kong”, visual cues that hint at events in “Godzilla vs. Kong”. The mysterious methods used by Iwi tribe to heal Mike’s wounds could also be seen as a nod towards advanced technology seen in “Godzilla: King of Monsters”.
So glad to see you liked it. It gets way too much hate from fans. And it certainly has the best humans of the MonsterVerse so far. For Kong's size in the show, I asked Brian Duffield and he said the point was for Kong to be exactly in-between 2017 and 2021, which would make him 220 feet, 45,000 tons, which lines up with Birth of Kong since he was said to be over 2x his 2017 size there.
As for Kong's face, when he roars he looks great, but otherwise he looks really different, more human, and that's simply because of Powerhouse's art style.
With the Chameleons, Brian Duffield said they're stronger than Skull Crawlers, and we see how agile and resilient they are. In real life Chameleons can fight off snakes several times their size. But most of Kong's struggle there comes from him being more focused on trying to help his friend. Otherwise, he had it handled at the start.

I can see WHY when it comes to some of the more fantastical elements or something like The Kraken, though it's a bit weird people don't care about Na Kika's design yet they draw the line at The Kraken. But yeah, I love that monster as well as the characters in the show. They're amazing and I hope to see LoM top them!
Yeah Kong looks super badass in a lot of shots then looks like a fucking weirdo in most others.
Whether the chameleons are stronger or not, I mean that's cool but Skull Crawler's are canon fodder regardless so literally anything is better than them. I think they could definitely be more creative than those guys. Cool monsters but they still shouldn't have been that tough for him to fight even when he was battling them and not focused on his lady friend. Also he needs to battle more titans and deadly opponents with crazy feats.
I'd love to make that video in time, so I'll try to hustle for it when I'm a bit more prepared. Nothing but positive things to say so far! Really excited for that show, Goji is looking awesome in it!

I asked some questions about the big bad of Season 2, and Brian Duffield confirmed it'll be a horror monster, a physical challenge for Kong, it'll have powers, it'll have multiple fights, and apparently it's some kind of bug. With the implication that it comes from Hollow Earth. Sounds awesome, so I hope we get a Season 2.

@@kongkingofthehollowearth1706 It ranges from a head taller than Kong to twice his height, but it's overall mass extends way more than that. Since Kong is 220 feet, I would say he's probably around 300-400 feet tall. Average or slightly above for a Titan.

I really didn’t mind the design of kong in the show I thought he look really cool I like the show but I had some problems with some of the human characters except annie she’s my favorite human character and that native girl who’s a friend of kong I give this show a 7/10
I totally get you. It was way too jarring for me at first but I got used to it. Annie is amazing haha I love her, just want her to actually have some struggle and not be a mary sue! Native girl was excellent too. Much like Lua but reimagined for the MV!

great review, I really enjoyed this series and I'm hoping we get a second season. It would be a real shame if not, too many plot points left unresolved. The human characters and their interactions are actually my favorite part of this show.

I have yet to see skull island yet. But i am going to wait until monarch legacy of monsters releases to watch it. So i can watch two monsterverse shows. And i didn't know there was going to be a season two?! And 4/5 kaiju for it? That sounds fun!!! I really hope those kaiju do different things compared to each other. For example. One can fly. Or one can have spikes all over its body and blades that will make it a big challenge for Kong. And he will have to think and strategies to take it down. Something like that.
Also. Off topic question. I know this is going to sound super dumb. Or that i may sound really stupid asking this question. But how do i make the bone structure for a model? I haven't been able to figure that out. And what do i have to do to make eyes? I have no clue on how to do those. Do i just make circles and mirror it into the models head? (I have no idea how to make a circle in blender), or is it something more complicated? I'm asking because i have not been able to figure it out. Do i need to click the middle part on the mouse? Or is it in the system itself? (The mouse i have at the moment does not click, which is why I'm asking that) and again. Sorry if this bothers you. Or sounds dumb. I'm just lost on what I'm supposed to do for that.

Honestly it depends. We haven't had a proper size or weight of the Kraken, or even of Kong, but there's a pretty good chance that Camazotz is much much larger and probably heavier. I honestly am wondering like everyone else on what happened to Mike and Charlie? Did they survive, did one of them make it out alive or are they both gone? We can forget about dog though, and worry more about Kong’s bird friend he’s leagues better than the living atrocity which is dog. Also I’m pleased that Kong finally defeated a titan without human help and brutally finished it off barehanded as well, though I am worried a lot that in the Monarch tv show they’ll give Godzilla human help, which is I’ll be honest a massive turn off for me especially when the writers would come up with an excuse about why he needed help instead making it interesting by making him struggle to the brink of seeing him the heavenly gates and outsmart his enemies even if he is outnumbered. It’s one of the many gripes I have with the writers and directors trying to justify the same cheap narrative of giving any giant monster human help.
I'm really really hoping they don't give Goji human help in his fights. Nor does he power-up through plot means and win. I think it would be great seeing him dig down and find the power within himself to beat his opponent. Kong just got treated so much worse in GvK so I would say he definitely needed it more then Godzilla, but Godzilla still needs more wins on his own where the fights are as well made as the Kong anime. Oh no but wait that would mean Godzilla is characterized too much which Toho HATES. I have a teacher who worked on a piece of IDW Godzilla media that Toho kept sending notes over claiming that Godzilla has too much personality or character and they want him to be a god with zero feelings and depth and emotions. That only works in some cases but not as a character with multiple films that we're supposed to emotionally connect with him on.

As for Toho not wanting Godzilla to have a personality and them still being too controlling over his character’s growth, that’s something really needs to change especially with those in charge at Toho though it may take decades before that happens. But nevertheless it was good to see Kong take down the kraken-xeno looking titan on his own in the water where it was the strongest as well, it was a genuinely good surprise I welcomed since Kong definitely earned especially since it also avenged the redhead Kong was close too and the whale it tossed. I’m also hoping for dog to not return next season.

It was great but it's overall plot is kind of not there for me, the Kraken was however a great explanation as to why Kong did alright against Godzilla in the water rather than getting bodied.
When you said your favorite part was the characters and the dialogue I was waiting for you to say “just kidding” or something because those two things are absolutely the worst part of the show, the dialogue and humor (or lack there of) is akin to that of a Disney channel show with all of the corny one liners and same goes for the characters. I’ll watch a season 2, but only because im starved for Kong content.

It's okay but it honestly is just way too boring. Characters are bland, boring monster action, visuals too dark and bleak, boring story-line, etc. But at least it gets the pass of being the starting film despite doing so many things badly. KOTM is even worse because G14 was boring, but KOTM is just frustratingly bad.

I mean it was fine, had good action but it really didn't add anything to the lore of MV as a whole. As someone who doesn't go into these shows and movies strictly for the action it was very underwhelming. Not to mention it was very inconsistent with the MV in terms of monster designs. The overall story is basic and is basically the same as KSI. But this is strictly my opinion and I'm very glad so many enjoyed it. It just didn't click with me.
I totally understand, again this show isn’t for everybody. As you know I shared the same complaint of the show not adding anything lore-wise, but I thought the characters being super well-written broke a ton of new ground for the MV which has always had otherwise lacking character quality. I liked the kraken design a lot, it looked alien for a minute then just looked like an updated Gezora. Just a cool squid Titan. I thought it was very fitting though especially considering Amhuluk and Tiamat exist, plus all the other skull island creatures. The story seemed good and it doesn’t look like it’s over, but I think it did the job very well. Of course this is all subjective. I’m not going in it just for the action, but action is still incredibly important so the fights need to be as enthralling as the characters are. I’ve just come to expect so little from the MV that all i WANT are the good fights (which is the main MV selling point) so I can have a break from the often terribly written humans and storylines. Skull Island was different thought. It stood out and had great writing as well as fights which is the secret sauce if you ask me. You have good characters, fights, and storylines, then you have the keys to making a good entertaining kaiju film/show.

Really really hoping the Apple TV Show is gonna follow in this shows footsteps in terms of character quality. Im hoping this isn’t the same case as what happened with K:SI and KOTM where the former was well received / relatively enjoyable and showed growth from G14 in regards to monster action, VFX, and character writing, then KOTM comes in and shows a regression of that quality where they just walked backwards. Characters were worse, action was worse, VFX were worse, etc etc. GvK showed progression, so hopefully with the same director and feedback from GvK we get more improvement rather then the backpedaling. And same with the shows; hopefully instead of the improvement to downgrade pattern we instead get a improvement to improvement pattern.
