I just wanted to point out one small difference between your S.V.E. heads and the new 170 S.V E. heads. Your heads are 61cc and the new 170 version heads are 56 cc. Should be a bump in compression with new model head.185 are 58 cc. Just letting everyone know that they probably decent street heads on a budget!👈💯
I'm putting a set on my '93 Thunderbird along with a '94-95 cobra intake hoping it's gonna wake the old bird up. Can't wait to see what she does with the bump in compression and extra airflow
I'm running a set of 192cc Canfields with a XE274HR cam, and a ported explorer lower and a lighting upper and 65mm tb in my 89Lx hatchback. With 3.73's and a t5 she runs good! It's a 308 with KB pistons. Owned car since 1995. This is my 4th and hopefully final engine
I 💯 agree on the heads Brother! I must say the Retro Fox has always been my favorite! Mannn I can’t wait to see what y’all are going to do with Michael’s Fox! 👊🏾
MAN I wish you were my neighbor! 😂 You guys have so much fun and do so many cool builds, I really enjoy your channel. So many ways to go with a build/combo... thanks for the tip on a good streetable setup.
I installed promaxx 180cc heads over the winter, and wow, it woke up the car quite a bit over the gt40s. It's the most fun I've had driving this car. Similar setup, SBE, b303, explorer U/L, anderson power pipe and spintech 9000 mufflers
Lets be real, these cars with 350 horse is enough to end up on the neighbors front lawn. If its a fox for the street. Of course more is better. Foxbodys rule !!
I will also say promaxx 180 heads really make good power also 2.021.60 valves pac springs very nice head for the money and they are machined and assembled in Alabama.
I finally picked up a Fox body last year. It's a super clean rolling chassis '81 Mercury Zephyr GS that just had a 3.3/200c.i. I6 and a C5 automatic. I olan to stuff my 3.9l DOHC Lincoln LS Sport V8 and 5 speed into it once I redo the timing set on it withthe updated tensioners. I had the Lincln LS up to 158mph and it still had more available so running it in a nearly 1,000lb lighter Fox Body car is going to be a hoot and probably excellent for fuel economy. I could go the 289 or 302 route as I have a couple 289's and a '68 Cougar 302. But, I really want to do something different and give the Zephyr some Lincoln love since it was originally a Lincoln Zephyr back in the 1930's. Eventually I will stuff a rowdy 351 Windsor based engine and a 6 speed manual in the Lincoln and get it back out on the racetrack and eventually do the Silver State Classic in the 160mph class. I would love some information for your 8" to 8.8" swap as I would like to do that to my '67 Mercury Cougar sooner than later. I love the fastback you got there!
Good to know. Just installed some SVE parts recently in my 94 GT. Radiator last weekend, which I'm happy with, car runs cooler. Last month a new alternator. These sound like good cheap heads with decent power. I don't want to go too crazy with my car, it's my daily driver in the summer. Heads like SVE, Cobra intake, haven't decided on a cam. The Retro Fox is my favorite of your cars. That supercharger is music to my ears
If you’re planning on staying with the factory ECM and doing a basic/street setup with those 170 heads, I’d say use an E303 cam. The stock computer setup won’t like even the mild entry level aftermarket cams. If you’re going to run a custom tune or aftermarket injection then you can go with something custom. I like Ed Curtis personally, but it’s up to you. Just make sure the cam, heads, and intake will all work well together and are suitable for your needs ;)
The coupe I just got has eledbrock performer heads don't know if they are any good it doesn't matter I'm taking all my drive line and putting it in this one...
Question? So after you replaced the head gaskets on the white car did that solve the issue running hot? I also have the same problem, replaced everything except head gaskets
……..na nah na nah!! Todays kids will never understand how much fun we had rolling 4/5/6 deep in a late 70s shit box to go to the mall to pick up the new no limit records drop, And of course some Sbarro pizza.
@@davida6383 I havent put the engine in the car yet. Been working 7 - 12s for a while and it slowed me down. Should be getting to first start in about 3 weeks. They look great though and machine shop said the spring pressure was good also. I had them look them over while the block in machine shop to make sure they were good enough to use. I have a channel and will be doing videos of when I do first start and driving it around. And dragy times on street and track. I haven't posted in a couple months because my work schedule.
asking for some help i have 89 merc grand mark is their any mods i can buy every thing is for mustangs my upper runs different than mustangs i would need langer t-cable and trans cable im trying to make grand mas car into a sleeper
@kentclark643 For the street and seat if the pants it's a a solid combo. I'm going to run the same thing my man! Every car is not a race car,I'm looking forward to doing this combo to my street car with A/C,lol
I have a set of the older sve heads, not on engine now.with a B cam ,1.6 trick flow rockers and stock bottom end what length pushrod do I need? Also bought adjustable guid plates, heads came with non adjustiable guide plates. Bought heads new.
Stock they're about like E7TE but the chambers are 53.5 +- not 60+. And you still don't have hard seats to run modern gas. Not worth it IMO. I have a set of fully race ported big valves 66 heads. Good for torque but not like $$ alum.
Man, slap that car on a dyno. No tuning, run as is. Show us the numbers. I'm building basically the same engine but with a systemax intake and TFS stg 1 cam.
Those heads are over priced junk. Look in the bowl area beneath the valve. There are casting lines that severaly hurt flow, and around the short turn radius. They also use heavy valves which really need to be replaced. I saw the actual flow numbers and for what you pay for a new set, you will need to have them ported to get decent flow numbers out of them. By the time you do all that work you could have bought a set of AFR heads and made great power right out of the box.

I just bought a set of Trickflow twisted wedge 170 fast as cast heads. I would consider them more of a budget head compared to some others.

Promaxx Shocker 210 are a serious head…
@86foxbod was it a stock bottom end?
@thomsoncarter3121 yes! Stock bottom end
Don't know how they perform, but for a budget, and looks freaking awesome for a cast aluminum head,
that's a pretty sweet deal.

AFR 185 enforcers are legit too. Love them
Ive wanted a set of heads for my little ecam 306 for awhile now. Think im going to give these a shot.

I bought some a couple weeks ago with 1.7 rockers, For a stock cam With ported Intake, 3.73 gears will be fun in it, and Eventually a supercharger
Man, I really enjoy this channel. So much good info on it.
I can agree becouse a good friend recommended the twisted wedge 170 heads for my 331 stroker in a 88 and he was right those heads make big power
I love myself some budget head
Like the rear end change. Hopefully my next project on my 65.
We are dropping Matt's motor in this evening, should be running by Tuesday or Wednesday. We'll see what them heads do. Lol
The promaxx are hard to beat. Thanks for the vids!!
Awesome video! Retro fox getting rowdy for sure !
Please tell my your taking the Gray Ghost to LMR cruise
Nice to see you again ❤

My favorite car on the channel
sounds like these heads are a good deal ! retro fox looking great thanks for the info
Just got the SVE 185s and wondering what you think of running these with a N412 on a 306 build?
Question? So after you replaced the head gaskets on the white car did that solve the issue running hot? I also have the same problem, replaced everything except head gaskets
Thank you for releasing this valuable secret❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey @BREW2L, I am wondering what rockers and the push rod length are currently in the Retro-fox. Thanks
CPR sells Canfield heads still.
Did thoes sve heads have the 202 intake valve? Probly going to notch my stock pistons, do you have a video covering that by chance? Thanks
Y’all have a lot of Foxbodys do any of them have aftermarket tourqe box’s? Your cars making good power need to upgrade in that area
What year are those rims from ??
On the red 5.0
Or where can I get some…

Still PIZZA 👍
Waaay back we still did the same stuff👍👍😎
I went with flotek 180cc heads for my build. $900 for the pair
How’d you like them? What power? What size heads?

Would these be "too much head" for a stock cam 1.7s and gt40 intake? Tried researching, but cant find any info.
No such thing as too much head
You would be very happy with that set up!
Appreciate the feedback

No guessing allowed. Gotta measure the pushrods.
I was at the swap meet and there was a set of heads, 2k, I asked what they were. Canfield’s. Still pricey!
Used to run a set of those back in the 90s. They made great power on my built 92 Hatch. You brought back some memories thanks 😊
Be careful. Swapmeet heads might need $800 work to be useable.
Guides, valve job, seals, surface...
What is being used to tune the retro fox?
The best budget heads...oh, yeah, I also put a supercharger on it. LMFAO.
Has anyone wired in a VSS on a 86 maf conversion without factory cruise control
I did it on my 1987,no cruise control..
@@johndoe-zb8bm How did you run it?
I just followed the instructions and put the sensor in my transmission. It was not difficult at all.
@@johndoe-zb8bm Lol I don't have any instructions and the 86 doesnt have any cruise control wiring to tap into for the sensor.
My main concern with these heads are the springs good enough for say a turbo car .
Or blower any one know the type of springs they used ?
Absolutely. They have been on both turbo and blower setups.
Whats you opinion on 289 heads on a 302? I have this setup. Just curious on your opinion
Stock they're about like E7TE but the chambers are 53.5 +- not 60+.

I have a set of fully race ported big valves 66 heads. Good for torque but not like $$ alum.
132 mph trap speed is what you need so get a 358" nascar spare and be done
$999 is a nice price, but for a SBE, I'd go with a wedge head.
Nuh nana na!!!
Let’s pull them apart and check the valve job, valve guide clearance and those cheapo valve seals. Get what you pay for.
When the TW 170cc are just 1600/pair and the 11Rs 190 are 2600/pair and the LMR 170cc are 2000/pair, I think you have to call this a mid range head.

Man, slap that car on a dyno. No tuning, run as is. Show us the numbers. I'm building basically the same engine but with a systemax intake and TFS stg 1 cam.
I’m sure they make good power and are really fun but they are made in china I ain’t putting Chinese parts in my car
Hp means nothing. Torque is where it’s at.

Way better than stock and 1/2 price of the big players.
So they need cleaned up and that makes them junk? Seems a little harsh. If your trash needs carried out does that make you house a shitty home? 😂
LS swap FTW?? 😅🤣
Go 185 Would make great content
Yeah anybody that puts heads in something that's already supercharged is definitely going to be faster what the surprise here
