I had the co-developer of the show as a tutor in film school and you're right in saying that there was passion put into the project because he is an avid Doctor Who fan, but I think it was all just licensing technicalities that made the premise of the show end up too weak to carry the series.
I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA AND I REMEMBER SEEING THIS FUCKING THING A HANDFUL OF TIMES AS A KID AND I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IT AT ALL AND I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS RELATED TO DOCTOR WHO IN ANY WAY AND YOU KNOW WHAT IT SOMETIMES JUST POPS UP IN MY MIND I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE ELSE KNOWS IT EXISTS I really hope this doesn't end up being Australia's most noteworthy contribution to Doctor Who
I think the worst part of this show is the horrid re-design, I don't like it at all and wish they just kept the original that was there in the beginning briefly, however i know why they couldn't do that (as the OG design is owned by the BBC so the use of it there was a lend in exchange for more appearances in SJA). I do think K9 can lead a show if its in the actual Whoniverse and with another popular companion too, and its the OG design. SJA doesn't really count as that was Sarahs show and K9 barely got to appear (because of this show which was so poor in comparison).
Actually, when I heard they were making this, I thought it was gonna be completely CGI animation not CGI visual effects and so I was surprised when I watched the pilot and then I bought the box at and I recommend to anybody who watches the five seasons of the Sarah Jane Smith adventures after you get to the end of that go into this box that made by the shout factory productions, and it will seem like the two shows were meant to, but up against each other although they really weren’t, but it was Bob Baker who had the way to go ask the Australian production company to make this because he couldn’t get this made on the BBC at the time now that he has passed away the people who inherited the rights canine from his estate, and his partners estate have been trying to get the BBC to make a version of canine that would be a spin off that would air on the BBC but with Russell Davis coming back as executive producer and show runner and head writer of Doctor Who and others. I don’t know that at this point, but he certainly is not against making a canine spin because he loves the character .
I watched this on Netflix back in middle school. It was okay. I probably wouldn't enjoy it very much now, but i wasn't a judgmental viewer back then. I was the type to look at things like spin-offs as both a connected show and a stand-alone. That way, even if a show was disappointing by the standards of the original, i may still be able to enjoy it. It didn't help too much with this show, but i got through the whole thing.
I watched this show for the first time, last year, and honestly, I deeply respect it. Is it objectively good? No, but I do find it charming and the sheer absurdity of some moments makes it wildly entertaining at times. Also, legitimately, the concept of The Department is excellent in my opinion; a lot of potential sadly wasted, but June was a strong character and The Professor’s arc weirdly got me by the end… is it predictable? Yeah but I don’t hate, it’s a quirky low-budget show doing the best with what it’s got and I really respect it for that.
I like to pretend this show happens in a parallel universe as u see k9 come through some portal at the start, never really got into the show but I might have to give it a spin
The first episode of this series is actually watchable for free on UA-cam, uploaded on the channel of the label who released it in the US on DVD: ua-cam.com/video/q9AwZHWIsVE/v-deo.htmlsi=OsuteQuzfN2XmzAn
It’s still quite easy to find on dvd and other services it was broadcast on the bbc but was different and turned a lot of people off I have series one part one and two on dvd.
„K9 - Timequake“ was shedulded for 2017 but never came out. They announced on the official K9 Facebook page they got funding for another series but that didn’t happended either yet…
it's not really a spin-off, its not canon to the Whoniverse and its own thing. Though the idea is it was K9 MK1 that randomly teleported away from Gallifrey. However in Big Finish canon, MK1 was destroyed during the Time War.

For the longest time there was talks of a movie with K9 and Omega from this universe.
Hi, was shown on Channel 5 here in the UK in 2010
I really miss K-9.
I saw that it was not the same but not terrible :)

I've seen it all and it's my biggest Whoniverse guilty pleasure. Not good but for some reason I was entertained haha

I know many a fan who is at least aware of the show! It was shown on channel 5 perhaps watched two episodes at the least product of it’s time.

The only reason I was aware of this is because I read the TARDIS Wiki
I've never heard of this before... I'm not sure I feel a need to watch it but it's certainly interesting!
It's really good
@@L1AML0V3SDRUMS no it's not, and I love K9

DW nerds still try to fit it Doctor who lore i am 100% sure
Wasn't they making a K9 movie with omega as the villain

Never thought this spin off existed 😮😮😮

Would love to hear what you think of the audio drama spin-offs like Jago & Litefoot and Bernice Summerfield
that aint K-9, L-10 😭😭
It's so flat and dull
I had seen it before... unfortunately.
I tried watching. I tried.
Seen it and got it but it’s no where near as good as they made out
