my friend had one and whenever i went to her house i would just play with it so much lol, i thought they were sooo cool!! i’d completely forgotten this though and when i saw the thumbnail of this video i was hit with the memories omg
These were a lot cheaper in the UK for some reason. Some of the regular houses I got for like £6 on sale _at their peak popularity_ and it was so fun linking up like five of them and letting chaos ensue. The baby one was cute but kinda tough honestly. Almost like real babysitting. Man, with toys like this I had a great childhood. With these I felt like girls were finally getting some not too girly videogame toys and I loved it. I also had Funkees but they kinda sucked with only three of them. Oh! And they were way more shock resistant than my DS or whatever. I must have dropped them so many times and they still work to this day.
These toys always had this weird eerie energy to them. I think it was the tinny audio and the fact that you controlled where they went and what they did. This made me want to re-buy the ones i had as a kid tho lmao
I had the pink and blue houses. Never knew she was voiced by Tara Strong, that's so awesome. It makes me happier i had it back then lol im almost 24 now, i wouldnt mind buying another
I had totally forgotten about those things, and did not know Tara Strong voiced them to boot! Says it was released in 2005, by then I was a senior in high school to graduate that year. I'm 34 now... damn I'm old lol 😂!
i miss when girls toys were like this and not stuff like twerking llamas (actual thing) and the uncomfortably large amount of girls toys focused around fecal matter. i don’t want that, i want a pixel friend, give me it.
Right? I miss those days, and just actual girl dolls made for girls, not these DISGUSTING pooping dolls and these WESTERNIZED big eyed Anime rip-off girl dolls EVERYWHERE these days. I'm just glad I'm an early 2000's girl who grew up with nice stuff like this, barbies, A few Baby Alives (the ones that didn't actually poop,), Glo Worms (I grew up with the Playskool 2005 one, not the original 80's one or the AWFUL CHEAP later 2011 to now model ones,) Care Bears, Furby's (NOT the new ones,) Doodle Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, you know, all that good stuff? Seriously, what happened to the good stuff like that and why aren't they even a thing anymore for the new generation kids? I don't like the toy market these days because of those poop crapola garbage stuff they keep coming out with these days and I feel sorry for the kids today who are growing up with that disgusting trash instead of that stuff I mentioned. It's disgusting and just sad what it's come to for the toy companies these days. They only do it for the money too sadly.
Thanks for the clarification, Billiam. When you first introduced the Secret Life of Pets one, my first thought was "is that related to the 1973 Fantastic Planet?" So, I'm glad you clarified that it was not.
If I ever write a childhood memoir, I want Tara Strong to be the one voicing it as an audiobook. She is THAT intertwined with so much of what I found joy in growing up
*”a b s o l u t e l y !”* As someone who had that specific toy, that goes right through me and despite her being my hero, I had no idea that was Tara’s voice.
the only thing i feel like is still popular when i was born in the 2000’s is like barbie and i guess polly pockets? i hate how they’re just making, *pooping unicorn* or those crappy new lps?? i miss the early 2000’s and early 2010’s.
Yeah kids toys nowadays just aren't as cool as they used to be. I don't think anything will ever top the awesome bat cave play set I had as a kid. The yellow and blue one with all the hidden features and an elevator.
@@Valentine-jo7ls Honestly, LOL surprise is a POC centric doll line and something my brown ass needed in to 00s. I'm 23 and can't believe how kids have it good now. Honestly it was either blonde or rare black barbie and nothing else when I grew up. I think as a kid I hated dolls because none of them looked like me and my well meaning white grandma's black barbie wasn't touched to the point she exchanged it for a teddy bear which is why I love stuffed animals.
@@Valentine-jo7ls that's because they're from the makers of Bratz, who stood out back then too. They whipped the aesthetic back out in perfect time, toys are BOOOORING rn
I love how I had the pixel chix mall game for like 10 years and literally never figured out how to play it like id just sit there and mash buttons and be the happiest kid in the universe
These remind me of a Baltimore children's museum exhibit called miss perceptions mystery house and one part of it was a doll house that used lights and shadows to show a scene of a grandma getting kidnapped by mice. It scared me
Oh my goodness! How could I forget this! Since tomogachi and the gameboy was extremely popular and hard to get hands on, my parents bought me this for my birthday instead. I loved it so much! It was such a giant part of my childhood and I can’t believe this left my memory. Thank you so much for reminding me of this amazing console! I still have mine somewhere in my attic. Time for some digging! (:
I was thinking about this game the other day, but I couldn't remember the name. All I could remember was the chunky folding screen. These were so cool!
It’s extremely nostalgic to see all these toys again, especially since I owned almost all of the ones in this video lol The pixel chix roomies one holds a special place in my heart- I as a kid never actually bought any other roomies though Turns out you could just shove toothpicks into the specific slots where the roomies would fit and the game would run just fine So good job younger me you saved your parents lots of money 👍 I kinda miss this brand ngl
I remember seeing commercials for these, and I actually really liked the concept. Never really saw the product in person, but it really doesn't look that bad for an LCD game. I kinda want to see this gimmick done again somehow, but I wonder if there is a market for it now.
God I vividly remember begging my parents for something like this, getting bored of it because I didn't understand what I had to do and none of my friends had one, and waking up in the middle of the night with the chick saying "play with me" from inside my wardrobe. That was so scary.
Holy cow, I totally forgot these. Now I'm asking myself if I actually owned one of these or just wanted them so aggressively that I don't know anymore.
I had extremely vague memories of owning one of these when I was little, but I could never remember what the thing was called. Thanks for digging this up from the depths of my subconscious.
I never realised that the hotel was such a big deal as a kid! My sister and I were gifted a couple of these as shared gifts over the time of a Christmas or two, and we ADORED these. We actually argued over who’s turn it was to mess around with it! Sadly, I think a few of them are a little broken from so much use, but nothing unfixable if I really wanted to repair it!
I saw the thumbnail and I almost yelled. I haven't remembered about these toys since I was a child, I was soo in love with tamagotchis back then, when I saw them combined with an actual real background I freaked out. Sadly I never got one xD But this was a wonderful little trip to my childhood for sure!
I had the yellow one and it was terrifying. It’d turn on in the middle of the night and I’d wake up when she’d start talking. That ish haunted my nightmares, I swear.
Oh my god i remember having a handful of these as a kid. They used to be at Walmart and that's actually how i found them. These and the lps ones were fun when they chose to work. Youd try to connect them and half the time it refused to. But still had good times.
Now this unlocked some really vague memories. I think I remember toys like these being owned by someone in my preschool or kindergarten. The car and house seem familiar (I have a vague memory of a girl holding a car like a handheld console), that spitting animation too. Man I miss 2000s.
I blame Pixel Chix on my anxiety about money. I like many other girls, begged my parents to buy me one when it came out. I got the Pink one and even opened it and played it on the car ride home. I proceeded to get bored of it that evening, but was still hyped to at least play it at school.. It didn't get popular at my school, and the other girls didn't include me if they did have one. Probably stopped playing after a week, and never touched it again(it still lurk in my home somewhere probs). After that I never asked for anything from my parents if it wasn't for birthday or christmas, since I now worried about whether I'd get bored of it obsessively. Fucked me up man lol
i had a similar experience where i immediately got bored/frustrated. i couldn't figure it out and barely touched it. i used to feel incredibly guilty about that lol.
Dude same, to this day I still have the habit of staring down my cart before check out, meander a bit then stare it down again then walking away... makes me feel bad sometimes but at least I've saved money 🤷🏻♀️
OMG I remember playing with those I had the tv, the mall an the car, I thought they were a fever dream cause non of my friends had them. My parents loved the catch frases, this video made me so happy, thank you!
I wanted this SO FREAKIN BAD as a kid but sadly we were too broke and by the time we could afford them they were off the shelf. My childhood dreams where crushed that Christmas lol
I’ve only had the yellow babysitter house, and honestly TO THIS DAY, it still works like it’s new. and it’s been, probably 12 years. I now have it displayed on my shelf. I got new ones this past Christmas though, finally, my dream of owning more than one came true. I now have the fancy purple/yellow house, the pink aesthetic house, and the pretty blue house. All have different girls within them too. But for a long time, I’ve only had the babysitter house. and tbh, it’s probably the best one. It’s filled with so many games and activities, I played nonstop. And Fun Fact: I always thought the girl and the baby were sisters, and their mother was actually the lady paying the girl, and the dad was the plumber. Just one happy pixel family. Childhood imagination, am I right? I even nicknamed the two sisters too! Pixel was the baby’s name, and Chix was the older sister’s name. Btw, Black-haired girl (or Chix.) will always be the best girl, change my mind. Great video, btw. I’m so happy you were reviewing such a nostalgic toy. (Though you didn’t really review the babysitter house, Pixel Chix is still Pixel Chix no matter what.) thanks Billiam.
I had the babysitter one too!! I also had the blue house and salon as a child, and I really hope I never really gave them away because those would be nice to keep. I liked the babysitter one the best because I liked how you'd switch the rooms with the dial and there were so many more games and stuff to unlock in that one because we saw more of the rooms in the house and the background had a lot more detail.
I remember someone leaving a pixel chic (babysitter one?) at my farm when I was younger. Technically, it was mine since no one came back to claim it so... free toy?
Lol for the longest time I literary thought I was the only one who had the Pixel Chix house sets. I both had the korean and the English version of them. I had so much fun with it when I was a kid ^^
I still have one of these at the back of my cupboard somewhere, I never even changed the batteries and it'll still turn on fifteen years later. It's incredibly annoying if I accidentally do that because there's no off button and you just have to wait it out whilst the pixel chick loudly makes demands
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY KID WHO DID THIS. 😂 I did the same thing but with little Polly Pocket doll accessories like plastic perfume bottles. They fit perfectly to hold down both the tabs. I remember my mom thought I was the most clever child ever and her happiness dramatically increased because it meant she didn’t need to spend more money to buy me the other dolls. 🤣
"just like any standard roommate scenario, all of the pixel chix are eager and competitive when it comes to doing chores" This is the best joke you have said on this entire channel
So many of those sound affects are sending me back to my childhood. I didn't remember until this video, but I had at least the baby one and the TV (can't remember if I had the OG). Honestly though, I found them really boring lmaooo. She didn't have any "needs" per say, so it just felt like randomly pressing buttons to see a set amount of reactions. It got old real fast. But in true kid fashion, it looked cool so I forced myself to play with it sometimes and then apparently asked for a second version (and possibly a third lmao)
I’d love to get my hands on this collection pronto! Love the analogue yet pixel-esque LCD concept of these toys. Genius, we need more toys like these now. 🖤 My closest experience to having similar game like this as a kid was taking care of virtual pet on tamagotchi and the classic Pokemon on gameboy - which often had their own niche community as compared to Pixel Chix.
hoooly shit I’ve been looking for these toys for years!!!! Just before getting this video randomly recommended I had another vid recommended which looked exactly like it and I got so excited but it turned out to just be a DS. I genuinely thought I’d never see it again but I scroll down five videos AND HERE IT IS!!!! Thank you so much for making this great video else I would never have found my favourite childhood toy again!!!
I was the main target demographic for this type of toy when it came out, yet I have absolutely no recollection of this stuff. I don't even remember any of the commercials, which is strange because I watched a lot of cartoon channels during this time. I have no idea how I missed this craze, but I'm sure my parents' wallets are happy about that. Instead we rented video games from Blockbuster. Hell yeah! That "town house" looks pretty rad, tho! Thanks for the video! It was fun learning about something from my childhood I wasn't even aware of!
@@mimmikibilly Nah, I prefer watching others play games since I'm trash at completing them. I don't even know the DMC franchise all that well either, but I can definitely appreciate what I do know. Like face app Vergil here, he fills me with motivation.
So, I never owned one of these, but I always used to go on a Barbie website, and they would have other girly franchises to choose from and Pixel Chix was one of them. I actually used to play games on that website and watch the commercials they also had. Also, I never knew Tara Strong voiced that character!😱
damn i forgot about pixel chicks, i had the yellow house and honestly it may still be somewhere hidden dee in my parents basement!! thank you for unlocking repressed childhood memories!!

When I was around 6 or 7, my dad's job went under. It was recession times. We moved provinces to live with his brother's family for 3 months while he dial-up-internet interviewed all over to find a job. I was the middle child of 3 kids at the time, and my older sister and I each had a pixel chix. This sticks in my mind so much not just because the toys captured my imagination so well, but because they were the ONLY toys that were unpacked. My younger brother had his gameboy and my cousins had their toys in the house, but there was no TV, board games, video games, books, or any of my familiar toys. Just Pixel Chix. I have no idea why we had them, because I don't remember us seeing any commercials or friends who had them. [I also don't remember them being a gift for Christmas or anything like that. I'm guessing my mom just thought they were neat.] Because of this they were untainted by any knowledge of them, we just went and played. I have ADHD (although I didn't know it until I was 18), and we weren't enrolled in school because we expected my dad to get a job faster, so Pixel Chix saved my sanity for those 3 months. I didn't have to space out at the wall anymore, I could space out while making her do a little dance instead. What a great set of toys.
No, I didn't actually throw all that stuff away. Except for the Charizard card. People keep saying it's a "base set" Charizard. It's just a regular Charizard, I checked.

@@carrotlegs1752 i would pay a ridiculous amount of money for your pixel chix.

As a boy, I would've probably ordered as well since the chick looks hot ngl.

I never would have remembered that this shit even existed if it weren't for you, dude!!! I used to LOVE these, yet somehow totally forgot about it!!! So much nostalgia oh my gosh.
Same!! I felt like some of my memories got unlocked with the thumbnail LOL
Same. I'm pretty sure that I used to own one of these and only remembered after seeing the thumbnail 😅
my friend had one and whenever i went to her house i would just play with it so much lol, i thought they were sooo cool!! i’d completely forgotten this though and when i saw the thumbnail of this video i was hit with the memories omg
@@kristinbornemeier2523 my sister had the pink house and I had the blue house and oh my god was it a good time
I don't think I ever heard of these but I totally get the appeal.
Y-You just unlocked a bunch of hidden memories i thought would never come back
I never heard about this. Even tho it's a girl's toy...? It still pretty cool
Same here! This vid was just randomly in my recommendations and now a whole forgotten section of my childhood is uncovered.
i miss when girls toys were like this and not stuff like twerking llamas (actual thing) and the uncomfortably large amount of girls toys focused around fecal matter. i don’t want that, i want a pixel friend, give me it.
To be honest, poopy toys for girls had been a staple since the 90s
They only do it for the money too sadly.
i love the twerking llama 😿
Couple days ago i saw an ad for a pooping flamingo toy... Idk what is up with all the love for poop toys nowadays but it is weird af
I've seen one of the twerking Luma toys
Thanks for the clarification, Billiam. When you first introduced the Secret Life of Pets one, my first thought was "is that related to the 1973 Fantastic Planet?" So, I'm glad you clarified that it was not.
If I ever write a childhood memoir, I want Tara Strong to be the one voicing it as an audiobook. She is THAT intertwined with so much of what I found joy in growing up
*”a b s o l u t e l y !”*
As someone who had that specific toy, that goes right through me and despite her being my hero, I had no idea that was Tara’s voice.

the only thing i feel like is still popular when i was born in the 2000’s is like barbie and i guess polly pockets? i hate how they’re just making, *pooping unicorn* or those crappy new lps?? i miss the early 2000’s and early 2010’s.
Yeah kids toys nowadays just aren't as cool as they used to be. I don't think anything will ever top the awesome bat cave play set I had as a kid. The yellow and blue one with all the hidden features and an elevator.
the only cool modern toys i’ve seen is the lol surprise dolls some of those have very unique designs i know i would have loved as a kid

It’s extremely nostalgic to see all these toys again, especially since I owned almost all of the ones in this video lol
The pixel chix roomies one holds a special place in my heart- I as a kid never actually bought any other roomies though
Turns out you could just shove toothpicks into the specific slots where the roomies would fit and the game would run just fine
So good job younger me you saved your parents lots of money 👍
I kinda miss this brand ngl
I did that with the homies figures and it worked great!
I remember seeing commercials for these, and I actually really liked the concept. Never really saw the product in person, but it really doesn't look that bad for an LCD game.
I kinda want to see this gimmick done again somehow, but I wonder if there is a market for it now.
Man Tara Strong has literally voiced everything in my childhood
She's a goddess. Tom Kenny is a god.

BRO I forgot the name and just searched Human tamagotchi, didn't find anything, then thought it may have been a fever dream BUT HERE IT IS YES
I had extremely vague memories of owning one of these when I was little, but I could never remember what the thing was called. Thanks for digging this up from the depths of my subconscious.
There wasn’t anything else I wanted more than a pixel chix, I still search for it these days. And the pixel chix online games where soooo good

He didn't really get rid of it. Trust me, I asked him on Twitch yesterday, and that was staged for the video.
@@benmalsky9834 Of course he didn't. He should resell them on eBay to help fund the next toy binge.
I know it was a joke, but... I'd totally take them.

TO ME THAT IS!
Yeah back in like 2011 I got the blue one from a church rummage sale
I never realised that the hotel was such a big deal as a kid! My sister and I were gifted a couple of these as shared gifts over the time of a Christmas or two, and we ADORED these. We actually argued over who’s turn it was to mess around with it!
Sadly, I think a few of them are a little broken from so much use, but nothing unfixable if I really wanted to repair it!
The fact she was voiced by Tara Strong, what a legend.
I still remember her, waking down the stairs at 4 am to yell at me "I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND WERE HAVE YOU BEEN".... such a toxic friendship
That ish haunted my nightmares, I swear.
i forgot these existed but they were seriously my favorite thing this just gave me a massive throwback
Dude same, to this day I still have the habit of staring down my cart before check out, meander a bit then stare it down again then walking away... makes me feel bad sometimes but at least I've saved money 🤷🏻♀️
its a hard lesson to learn that youre gonna eventually get bored of every toy you get 😂
So you hate the video?

Oh my god THIS IS THE TOY I HAD TROUBLE REMEMBERING!! YOU LEGIT SOLEDAD A 6 YEAR MYSTERY
I now have it
displayed on my shelf.
I have the yellow one still on my shelf as well and it also Still workss
I remember I was six and I stole one of these from my cousin because I was in love with the girl inside
How did that end up?
The pixel chix baby playset
I remember someone leaving a pixel chic (babysitter one?) at my farm when I was younger. Technically, it was mine since no one came back to claim it so... free toy?
Lol for the longest time I literary thought I was the only one who had the Pixel Chix house sets. I both had the korean and the English version of them. I had so much fun with it when I was a kid ^^
omg I still playing with the double floored house I’m so happy someone understands how precious these are❤️❤️
Why is this kinda sick though...
I still have one of these at the back of my cupboard somewhere, I never even changed the batteries and it'll still turn on fifteen years later. It's incredibly annoying if I accidentally do that because there's no off button and you just have to wait it out whilst the pixel chick loudly makes demands
As a kid I hacked the hotel by using hair clips instead of buying the characters😂😂

"Hi it's me your ISP let me sell your data"
GRABS HAMMER...
"enjoyed watching my tamagotchi die." Omg I started to choke

So, I never owned one of these, but I always used to go on a Barbie website, and they would have other girly franchises to choose from and Pixel Chix was one of them. I actually used to play games on that website and watch the commercials they also had. Also, I never knew Tara Strong voiced that character!😱
