The paper is expired, I have one too as a collector. It all depends on the recipt paper, the device is fine. Just run down to a store, ask for a line of blank paper, cut to size and insert it again. Works best if you cut a pointed tip to insert into the gameboy camera. It all depends on the paper. You can order some specially for that size if you want. Recipt paper uses a chemical that goes black with heat, so it doesn't burn into the paper, just warms the chemicals. And it might fade with time. Just like how the chemical on original gameboy paper doesn't work really anymore.
Yeah just go to any restaurant and ask the cashier for a strip of thermal paper. We will gladly offer you a strip for free.
Old fax machines used the same type of paper. If it gets old, it doesn't show up well when printed on.
The thermal paper has gone bad. That’s the reason the prints look so light
Shut up
Ramen King why
I bought unopened thermal paper for mine and it still is too light. Any other ways to fix this issue? Or any way to get thermal paper that wont be to light?
@@thepokemanchannel1029 if it's from the 90's air seeped in you need modern thermal paper
You need to get modern thermal paper, vintage won't work. You can buy a roll of paper for printing receipts and just cut it into any size you need, that's what Ashens did in some of his videos (Game Boy Extravaganza)

What does that statement mean, bro
Thank you for the tip, the gameboy micro is the same but L instead of Select.
Your paper is old. After time it kind of expires.
@Brayden Kennedy A: ancient scrolls are made of either papyrus or pergament. B: Modern paper sadly can degrade fast. www.researchgate.net/publication/235354060_Paper_aging_and_degradation_Recent_findings_and_research_methods

Id give you an N... just based on the name and sass but im not quite sure.
@@FortuneZer0 woosh
Yup. I used to work in a label plant. Thermal paper goes bad.
yeah, google gameboy printer paper; there are tons of posts of different kinds of paper people have used that work. The only thing is that getting sticky paper like the original is unlikely
@@BitJit Just get glue and stick it anywhere.
If memory serves, thermal paper expires after a time.
Lifespan is about two to six years.
@@AmyraCarter well thats definitely a lot less then 20, so probably bad
@@jaykoerner I mean, it still can be used, it just won't work as well, if at all.

@@bigpurpleflower2185 Unfortunately, the regular stuff doesn't have an adhesive back, so you can't turn your Game Boy Camera photos into stickers.
I saw this issue with the gameboy printer, it's the paper that became too old, you just have to use new thermal paper (that is the same size)
The 2DS takes pictures in 3D even though it can't display the 3D part because pictures can be transferred to a 3DS from a 2DS and displayed on the 3DS in 3D.

Hey Billiam, a friend of mine used a different thermal papel for the Game Boy printer. He started with low quality prints but he changed to a more recent one and it looks great!!!
Yes, it is the chemical used for recipt paper, it does go bad with time, so newer paper will work better for that reason, and the images printed WILL fade with time because it is the chemical that changes with some heat.
One of my good friends actually took me and my wife's engagement photos with the PSVita. Amazingly, they captured the moment very well despite the wonky lighting, even if our faces were blindingly white from the lights

I love going back to the videos where you show parts of Orlando. I lived there for 19 years and recently had to move away. And it brings me so much joy to see these landmarks. (ie. the wizard at the magic castle gift shop) "I moved here! This is my doing!" really made me chuckle because everyone seems to have that same feeling about Orlando and Florida in general, they love it but they hate it.

Can confirm, also moved to Orlando for the almighty Shop Wizard.

@@kandikidzora There's a hundred stores exactly like that on that street, but there's another store with the exact same wizard statue too hahaha
I've driven by that scary wizard in Orlando so many times I never thought I'd see it in a video about the Gameboy Camera.
I swear when I went on vacation this year, this was the street Dad took to get to Disney from the place we rented.
When I went on vacation in 2019 I got a hotel room with a great view of that wizard
Seeing all these Orlando locations are giving me college flashbacks. Lol

I have a red ring story.
In undergrad I had this roommate who I absolutely despised, and the feeling was mutual. He had an XBOX 360 and played it pretty regularly. He had preordered COD MW2 (if you don't remember this thing was hyped AF), he was so excited to play it, popped it in and..... red ring of death. He was so pissed, cursing and yelling. I just sat there doing chemistry homework with a big smile on my face.

Honestly loved this video! Keep up the good work man!
I worked for an app developing company, the main developer and I shared a love of Yu-Gi-Oh and got talking about the lack of AR support for the game, I mean like you said, it’s not something thats hard to do and the game lends itself to it! So we actually developed an app for it and BUILT stands for a phone or tablet, you were able to actually lay your cards down in front of the phone and see your monsters appear on the field, as well as the other persons, it required 2 phones or 2 tablets or one phone and one tablet, connected via Bluetooth, with plans to allow remote play over WiFi in the future, we contacted Konami? I think? And told them that we had developed this app and asked if they’d be interested in hiring us or buying the idea and softwares... after the initial automated response we waited a further 6 months for a response, working on the app the whole time and having A LOT of fun with it! When they got back to us it was to say that they had no plans to develop such a game and ordered a cease-and-desist on any developments or dissemination of said softwares under threat of legal action...
By that point we had a pretty much fully working app, I mean it ran on everything from apple devices, android and even windows tablets! All the animations had been finished and we’d even managed to stitch together most of the audio which we’d essentially ripped mostly from UA-cam videos... It was gorgeous! We did plan on re-designing the app under a different name and selling it ourselves with the simultaneous release of a card collection franchise...
Unfortunately the amount of reworking the app required was immense and we had several big pushes at work one after the other so it shelved and forgotten about...
Looking these spectacular stores in Orlando, reminds me to "Attack of the 50 feet eyesores" segment of the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror
@@nova_kaiser Talking about good Publicity
Yo I used to take DS\ 3DS selfies before I got a smart phone xD
Fun fact! The OG Xbox also had a camera, which was used to make video calls via the Xbox Video Chat software. It was supposed to be released in the US, but was only ever actually released in Japan.
Internally, it’s the exact same camera as the PS2 eyetoy except the firmware has the mic disabled (since you’d be using the mic headset via your controller).
The video call function has since been restored through the Insignia Xbox Live private server and there’s a guide/patch to enable a PS2 eyetoy to work with it :)
I borrowed a friend's Gameboy camera cans printer for a few weeks as a kid.. keep in mind that, at this time, taking a picture required film, developing the film, picking up the pictures before you could see them. Quality aside, it was still super cool to be able to take and see/print pictures immediately. I don't think I owned my first digital camera (2mp) for another 6-8 years!
I never knew that the gba had it’s own camera
I love that when doing a sponsor you just go "oh hey, BTW I've been trying to up my quality, so I need to use sponsors. This week's sponsor is x"
It's so annoying when channels try to blend it in like "genghis khan was one of history's greatest monsters, and if you want to be one of history's greatest monsters then you'll need a website from SqUaReSpAcE!"
So true
the way billiam introduces sponsors in his videos and in some videos also gives an extra heads up at the beginning about his sponsor is refreshing. he’s not pushing his sponsors as the Best Thing in the world, but describing their services without sweet talking them up. his commercial breaks are short and also to the point too. good man.
I wasnt old enough to experience anything before the dsi really, BUT THAT PET THING FOR THE PLAYSTATION??? Oh my god that brought back a LOT of memories, i remember loving that thing
Hey Billiam , glad I found you channel , it's like nostalgia critic but not annoying and stuff I'm actually nostalgic about
i recently just moved the orlando a few months ago and now i know where to go cryptid hunting with my dinky little 3DS camera. thanks billiam, very cool.
He really should make separate episode about the eye of judgment. I'd love to see that!
I used my Gameboy Camera as a survailance system when I was little. I was always loved to experiment, so I combined my Gameboy Camera with my Snes and Super Game boy and connected that to the home TV outlets. So in the end I was able to set up my snes anywhere near an outlet and spy through the TV in my bedroom. It was awesome!
Your videos are very entertaining I watch them every day. Keep up the good content!

I actually wanted one when I was a kid, I'm glad I didn't.
The thermal paper has probably gone bad, but you can also change how dark the print outs are in the options menu of g/s/c. I always kept mine on the darkest setting and it had decent results
As a PS Vita owner, you have got to play "Soul Sacrifice". It's a pretty wild Japanese rpg style game with all the fun grindy elements to make spells even more insane!
For a while, my only camera was my 3DS camera. I'm honestly scared to see what lurks on that SD card. Great video like always!
For PS Vita recommendations without Persona there's pretty much a few basic recommendations that I give everyone whose got one of these accursed things. The only problem I've had with the Vita is that a lot of the best games are ports that you could just play on a PS3/4 which has made it a bit of a pointless handheld as time goes on lol
Either way, this is my basic list
- Digimon Cyber Sleuth (+/or Hacker's Memory, I played both) if you've not played it yet somehow.
- Zero Escape: The Nonary Games
- Steins;Gate
-
Atelier Escha and Logy Plus
- Gravity Rush
- Uncharted: Golden Abyss
There's a little bit of everything in there, so hopefully at least one of these might suit you!
Killzone: mercenaries
Is a pretty good fps
Or
Odd world strangers wraith (however was original on first xbox and ps3(still good though))
Muramasa Rebirth is great, its a port, but its the best version of the game and the only place where you can play the dlc campaigns which are amazing.
Senran kagura , dragon ball battle of z, one pirate warriors , one piece burning blood are good on vita too
YES to Gravity Rush. That game deserves more recognition. Same with the Zero Escape franchise
Also, Danganronpa
Also, Custom Firmware to have the ultimate emulator machine
We had this game for EyeToy on Playstation 2 and that was my absolute favorite thing to do for such a long time. Seriously some of the best fun I had (as far as video games at least) as a kid.

Besides the paper being old, you may want to try wiping off where the laser heats the paper. We use similar printers at my work and if there is too much dirty at the contact point, the print comes out bad.
The 3DS' 3D camera is dope af, with 3D on it's like looking at a memory

Great video, you clearly put a lot of time in with this one. And I have a solution for the Gameboy printer. You need to buy high-sensitivity thermal paper, because it's a low energy printer and doesn't get as hot. It costs a little bit more, but it will give you better prints. :) Hope this helps.
6:12 woah I have that exact printer
New to the channel. Love the content and honestly. I had such limited intereactions with the PSVR that It was a positive experince, when Looking back
Fun fact I always like to throw out that was never documented anywhere (I don't think it was at least): If you take a photo on the 3DS and then press back on the circle pad (and realign the two images) you'll actually see a much better image than the 3DS shows you normally (depth is more apparent, things coming towards the screen pop out more, etc). IMO, the 3D makes it look a lot more real than that resolution normally would. I have a photo I took of my late father on my 3DS and it's always a treat to see this more immersive photo of him. I also have ones of my friends from back when we met and were all more or less fetuses.
But, then again, I actually like the 3D on the 3DS unlike the 99.999876% of the people who had the system, so your mileage on this fact may vary.
