4 decades later, still the most beautiful car in the world. ❤️
I honestly think the sleek black Trans Am is a timeless design. KITT will always be awesome.
Love it ! Trans Am owner who grew up watching Knight Rider in the 80's myself. Love seeing these cars getting some love and attention. The retrowave soundtrack in the video was killer as well !
Cool man! Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Even today, this car looks awesome, but in 80s it was out of this world. )
Totally agree - KITT looks as fabulous today as he did in the 80s!
In the 80s a Ford Taurus was out of this world...
@@tomasnokechtesledger1786 hell even an Austin mini was (to an extent)
@@isaacsrandomvideos667 I remember the RoboCop movie, the Taurus was an awsome car for the future. But it was there on the Dealership.
People say what you want but if you're going to drive one every day this is the way to do it. Do the outside like it and leave the interior stock. Updated to the tan if you wish but even I don't think that's mandatory. Now if you want to do an exact replica that's a different story and a hell of a lot more money! I love the attention to detail on restoring the body getting rid of the rust to me that's more important than putting computer screens in the car! You're going to turn heads now no matter what. That's what's having a KITT car is all about anyways!
Just an excellent job well done and awesome soundtrack and video! This is coming from if 43 year old child of the 80s that adored Knight Rider!
Wow, I'm speechless! Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, my KITT is definitely turning heads every day I take him for a ride. I've even head a guy following me until I stopped, just so he could give me a thumbs up and drive off. 😁
I know many of you might be disappointed by not seeing the KITT dashboard installed in the end. This is why I titled this video complete "restoration" of the car, rather than a full "conversion" to KITT. Right now it's time to save up until I can afford a KITT dashboard. I want to build a very nice and accurate dashboard. This all takes time, money and a bit of skills. :-)
Take your time! It's always amazing to watch the process behind building movie cars.
Okay
This is the way.
Atleast make a better looking tail light for that car ? the one you have now doesn't look good on it.

@@ninjacon7299 I love the factory taillight. The plexiglas cover is illegal in Switzerland.
Kitt biggest fear was being crushed in the car junk yard while there owners for got about them.
Kitt your a special car the won’t be forgotten.
Amazing job! I’m only 20 but I’ve watched knight rider since I was 8 my all time favorite show is knight rider and my dream is to build my own kitt. You should be proud of yourself for building kitt!
Thank you!!
I dig the Lectronic 80's music that accompanies your restore. Love the Big 80's, less bull crap back then. Awesome Firebird dude!
I'm a Filipino an avid movie viewer of Knight Rider thanks to d uploader
'The car of the future is already here. Me."
"Michael you know this race is academic."
Man that's awesome, I love it when someone works hard and fulfills their dreams, I know it's wierd but I always wanted to make the K.A.R.R. same thing but with the yellow scanner.
Thank you! It's easy to switch from KITT to KARR. All I have to do is swap the scanner lens. 🙂
What a splendid and titanic job, awesome ! I was a big fan of the show when I was kid. What a proudness and a pleasure must it be to ride this self hand made car.
Thanks a lot for the kind words. It is indeed a great pleasure to drive it, even without the KITT dashboard.
Awesome job! A lot of hard work and dedication pays off. Thanks for videotapping it!
Dude! The front lights look better than the original KITT’s!
Awesome!
Thanks! We need to either have daytime running lights or else switch on the normal headlights during the day here in Switzerland. Of course the whole thing is not screen accurate but that's the price you have to pay if you want to make it road legal...
Love it. Dashboard be damned, you had the 'red lights' up front and the look. Some people may not appreciate just how much work a full restoration is. This was a full resto with some additional elements to make it as close to KITT as we can *reasonably* expect. As a lover of cars, full restoration projects and, of course, Knight Rider, kudos guys, great job.
Thank you for your kind words! It was an awful lot of work for me doing this extent of work for the first time at home with no lift and few power tools, but it worked! There is still more coming. Tune in for the individual episodes if you like. Thanks for the support!
Yes!!!!! My first car in 1987. Ran it to 176,000 miles. A timeless classic!
It is, you should get another one!
Man, I love this video! Great job on the restoration and excellent choice of soundtrack too! 👍
Thanks a lot! Yes, Marvel83' makes some pretty cool tunes. I had this combination in my head for a long time. Will be doing more of these amongst the more technical videos.
Amazing work! Looks like you started off with a great foundation of a car to work with. Many here stateside are unfortunately pretty rusted.
Thanks a lot!! Yes it was the right car for what I wanted to do. There are more out there in very good condition but I didn't want to convert one that was already in top shape. The engine and transmission were very sound, the bodywork was bad but still needed some rust and dent repair. You can see that in detail in the bodywork episode. Thanks for watching!
Hello, I'm from Brazil and your video inspired me to chase a dream, congratulations, your car looks beautiful.
Thank you very much, obrigado!
I've read some of the comments, and I have to tell you, I think you did an awesome job with the car. Is it 100%? No, but only the ones who obsess over the show will really notice. You keep up the good work on it, build it the way that you will enjoy if it's for car shows only someday or if you want to drive it. It's your baby so enjoy it and be proud of the wonderful job you did. Big thumbs up from the U.S.
Thanks a lot, I appreciate your comment!
C'est un boulot de dingue, c'est cool de voir le chemin parcouru. Bravo pour ce travail de fou !
Shit, that was a lot of hard work, awesome job!!
Thank you! Yes, it was and it's actually not totally finished.
Very great work what u had done alone .. I hope to completer z cat kitt interior with some didital moderation ... 😘😘
What an amazing job!! You have done a super job so far, KITT looks fabulous. Can't wait to see the next stage.
Thanks a lot!
I remember when Knight Rider came out on TV back in 1982, I fell in love with the car automatically. Awesome job,... One question...is the engine a 305 or a 350?
Thanks a lot. It's a 305 TBI. Check out the entire video series for all the details. 😉
So did I.
The show was always about the car. KITT still looks awesome to this day 👍
Wow fantastic work you really did amazing job. Stunning.
Thank you!
When jealousy and envy meet. What a cool project.
Thank you!
Awesome soundtrack! I listened to all the songs made by Marvel83', very cool music!
Cool, hope you enjoyed the Firebird restoration, as well. 😉
@@MotorScotti Yes, very good job!
Wow omg I cry when I saw this he’s soo bless
Thank you! Stay tuned there is more coming
Knight Rider: A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.
Michael Knight: A young, loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless. In a world of criminals who operate above the law.
Where is turbo jump switch?
There isn't, I just tell KITT to jump when I want to :-)
David Hasselhoff he's gonna love it of Kitt to be restored
Bravo! The work gone into this car is fantastic and its probably bolted together a million times better than when it left the factory. From the proud owner of a black 88 Trans Am (not a kitt though)
Thanks a lot!! Yes, countless hours by myself and also the body and paintshop. It's a really tight car now with all the new rubber and sound deadening drives really nice. No performance car but a great V8 cruiser. Take good care of your Trans Am, love these, too.
You do KITT. I want KARR.
But we destroyed KARR....twice. We saw him explode...twice.
@@FortniteDad39 he just keeps coming back!
So much for wishful thinking 😂
@@AchtungBaby77 KITT sounded like a wussy. I liked KARR voice better!

The amount of efforts is insane, great job, the car looks fantastic!
Thanks a ton! Not quite done yet. I invite you to watch the individual episodes for more details. :-)
The original KITT and David Hasselhoff would be proud :D. The car looks amazing!!
Thank you very much!!
@@MotorScotti you're very welcome. I grew up watching Knight Rider, probably the same as everyone in the comments section lol. I love K.I.T.T and i still watch the tv series til this day. I was lucky to grab all 4 seasons online.
so so so cool. love it. next project Airwolf :P
Thank you! Yes, of course, I just need to quickly go through the ads for used Bell helicopters. :) I'd love to have some kind of new project like this, though.
Or Blue Thunder.
Now this is a project 😆 love it and the retro music *ben
Thanks a lot! Yes it was quite a challenge for a first time restoration and doing it at home. The motivation helped me pushing through. Still undecisive whether I should install the KITT dashboard as I like the factory one, too..
MotorScotti yes, yes a thousand times yes, maybe a wiring challenge though *ben
@@PlanetautoUK Okidoki :) The wiring is actually incredibly simple. I helped install one in a friend's KITT recently.
MotorScotti I really can’t see that as easy - that’s crazy - all I can say is go for it *ben
@@PlanetautoUK If you use the electronics from ZA Elettronica it's almost plug and play. One cable from the battery to the electronics IN, one ground to the ground IN and then there are the connections from the KITT electronics to the car dashboard for speedo, RPM, mileage, temp, oil pressure etc. all plug and play. People have been building KITT replicas almost since the show ended in 1986. By now pretty good stuff is around to make it really nice. :) I suppose I really don't have any excuse not to do it anymore.
Good job. I like that dashboard stood the same. I think the one a better version of kitt😂
Thanks for the memories!
Perfect synthwave tunes
Can't wait to do it one day! I plan on just the exterior transform as well. The dash is cool and all but seems a bit of a pain to drive with.
You should, as for the dashboard conversion check out my latest Instagram post, which is just about that. The KITT dashboard is great for shows but if you want to drive the car regularly the KITT dash with some compromises, indeed.
It's not KITT without the dashboard but I know what your saying
@@neilharrison4147 It's KITT for me😊
I'd be putting a hidden ignition kill switch in it somewhere, car wont start unless the switch is on. easy extra measure to keep it from being stolen.
When I will be in my 60-70s , KITT is the ONLY car I will be driving (as long as petrol still exists :) )
By then I might have converted him to electric. It would be a cool project.
Obsession and passion without passion you would have never done all that. Can't wait to see the dash, switch pods and the consoles installation. Great video.
Thank you very much Luis, much appreciated!
I love that 80s vibe soundtrack!

Magnifique 😉👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing work.
Dream car since childhood.
Thanks a lot! Check out the individual episodes. Episode 17 will be out soon.
My childhood memories...ihv a car now but I always dreamt of kitt... someday I wud also be able to develop one like u....♥️🤗
Thank you and all the best!
Great job! This is my dream. :'D Hello from Slovakia!
Thanks a lot! Me too, only my passion for KITT gave me the endurance to do this in my home garage :-)
@@MotorScotti I believe it. It looks really amazing. Just like from TV. Now just finish KITT 3000 ( that new car from new series ) and you can open your own Foundation for Law and Order. x) I only have one question. Is it legal to have a red light on a vehicle? Still up front? Doesn't that look like police vehicles?
@@radoslavmalicher4291 Well, i don't think I'd ever get the Mustang Knight 3000, but I'm a big Mustang fan, too. Therefore a 'regular' Mustang is more realistic. I'd love to find a similar Mustang project car.
¡GUAPÍSIMO!
Just $10,000 to $12,000
And you got yourself a fully Kitt. .
Very nice looking good. .
It really depends on the condition of the base car, how far you want to go and what you're able to do yourself.
NICE SHOW GUYS.... CONGRATULATIONS MAKING KITT BEST AND NEW AGAIN.... THX
Glad you like it!
good job, what did you do
Damn, that interior is really pretty.
Great work!
Thank you! I have a really good upholstery guy who did the seats, door panels and headliner.
You’re welcome. It’s nice to see someone living their dream.
Drive it in good health.
Reminds me of the endless hours of wire wheeling i just went through on the 80 camaro i'm restoring and 40 year old bolts and bushings i've struggled with. Getting ready for bodywork now.
It is a lot of work but very rewarding once the car is back to gether and like new. The videos on the suspension, steering and brake restoration should be up till Christmas.
Pure dedication and passion all Put in your work. Love the Trans Am and Knight Rider TV series as Its my top 3 favorites from the 80's. Respect!!
Thank you very much for your kind comment, I appreciate it a lot!
Knight Rider, A-Team and Dukes of Hazzard for my top three.
@@BoeingJetTech Incredible Hulk, Knight Rider and Star Trek: The Next Generation for my top 3 of the 80's. Gotta admit, the 80's had so much endless shows, animes that we can fall in love with at anytime!!

Beau montage, mais pour améliorer le référencement, je pencherais plutôt pour un titre comme "Pontiac FireBird : Restauration et conversion en KITT"

Excellente remarque !
Kitt in 2021
I just hit my 2 year mark with my kitt and exterior is almost complete
What’s left is install bumper fogs
Two more TCR
And all 4 bowling ball caps
You're getting there! Keep going!👍
Love it... Many have forgotten that dreams come true with hard work and dedication!
Thanks a lot, and yes you are right!
not perfect copy of kitt but very close. Good work! Make it 100% TV accurate and it will be the best. good luck!
Thank you! Of course, it's far from being screen accurate if you look at all of the details. The main outside differences are the running lights, indicators and the fact that I didn't install a taillight blackout. That's all for legal reasons, so I'm allowed to drive KITT on public roads. Inside I have the later version door panels with the cup holders, but I really like my KITT the way he looks like. The KITT dashboard might come next year. Thanks for watching!
@@MotorScotti So the red flashing light on the front of the car is legal, but the tail light blackout is illegal? Those are some weird laws. It's usually the red scanner light on the front of the car (flashing red lights are only legal on the front of emergency/police vehicles in the USA).
@@LakeHowellDigitalVideo No not exactly. Strictly speaking in Switzerland any light that does not have an official purpose is illegal, especially red facing forward. I just swap the lens with a black non seethrough lens for the bi-annual inspection and I don't use it in traffic, of course.
The taillight blackout is illegal because it would be an alteration of the factory taillight. The little embossed letter with the GM and type number would not be visible anymore, either, which is what they also check during the inspection.
Geile typ witer so!!!😍😍😍😍
Danke, 2020 chunnt no vil meh!

Thanks a lot!
Cool video ..take your time....i had a 1984 black 🔥 bird ....same turbo cast rims no center.....you got the talent and the space..👍
Thanks! I will👍
What kind of front fenders did you put on it?
The fenders are the originals from the factory. The body shop cut holes in them and shaped the contours we could insert the TA fender vents. I had reproduction TA mounted when I brought the car to the bodyshop, but they didn't line up properly so I went back to the factory ones.
HI MY NAME IS SANFORD MOORE AND I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I LOVE KITT

It has to be 6 lights in the Front,
And the steering...
So what that's a real man's hard work

Michael will be proud! Hard work and lots of money. Beautiful car 😁 Greetings from Poland.
Thank you! 👍
The 3rd generation F-body looked astounding in 1982, particularly the Trans Am variant. The design has stood the test of time. The last version (1991 and 1992) still look phenominal today
Yes design wise it is a masterpiece. I was never really a fan of the latest facelift, the 91/92 model years but they are still classic.
Brilliant video and some really good work being done there! Awesome!
Thank you!
OMG😱I like it so much😍😍 good work😍👍
I like what you what you did in the fog light section. It may not be screen accurate but it is functional which I think is an acceptable trade off.
Thank you. Indeed our registration rules have to be followed by the letter in Switzerland. Check out my video on the fog light installation, I explain why.
Beautifully done! Nice track, very KR epoque...
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it! Yes I'm always 'on the hunt' for new retro wave style music for videos like that give a period correct touch to this Knight Rider chapter.
@@MotorScotti You sure got it, Man! And I thank you! Good luck with KITT.
Beautiful car! You have your own KITT. Jelly over here. I had a 91 camaro with a 350 (basically the same car), and it would straight zoom, handled surprisingly well too. I rarely ever took the t-tops out, because they would leak if used a lot. Shame, because it was fun to drive with some wind blowing.
Thank you!! Obviously after a full repaint I put new weather stripping onto the car. It's perfectly waterproof, although I try not to drive it in the rain. Lots more content on the Firebird and Knight Rider on the channel and to come!
@@MotorScotti Keep it coming! And you should know when you make a dream like that come true, you're making it come true for many of us out here who may never make the opportunity happen for themselves, AND you'll inspire others to go ahead and commit to their dream car. (I still have a General Lee or Kitt resto mod on the old bucket list).
That's why I make these videos. They won't attract a huge amount of views but they might help out a couple of people. I usually find videos more helpful and engaging than reading a manual. lol
Wow man, congrats on your project. Amazing soundtrack. From a 1983 born friend. Always wanted to own one of these one day.

That was amazing work you did the only disappointing part of it was seeing all that notice for detail but the one thing you did not put in was the steering wheel that's a little disappointing but there was awesome you have an knack and a gift and an imagination never lose any of that we have to stay kids as long as we can
