    I got a higher than normal blood glucose reading at my recent doctors apt (102 mg/dl). My doctor said it wasn't even indicative of pre-diabetes in my case, however I started changing my lifestyle instantly. Cut down carbs, more high quality protein, and way more exercise.
    I applaud you for handling your condition and talking about this product. What a neat device for people who want to take total control of their diabetes and get micro insights without being in a hospital study.

    Holy cow I've been using the Dexcom G6 for almost 2 years now and I love it, especially all my nurses at my nursing home.

    Glad to finally see a tech reviewer do the Dexcom stuff. My G6 is in a wireless loop with my insulin pump.

    I think CGM are a good thing. My A1C due to issues with the medication I was on was raised to 78. Using aggressive insulin treatment, and confirmed with a recent blood test, I got my A1C down to 70. A low G.I. diet helps and exercise will decrease blood sugar levels too.
    I am a Type 2 diabetic but I use a different CGM system from you. The Freestyle Libra system, which I have been using for about 5 years and the sensors on this last for 14 days. It has similar features to the Dexcon G6 one and I can also shared with health professionals via the Libra View system. It will also allow me to print out the monitoring reports, which I can also share or keep for myself

    Joshua, thanks for sharing this. Being a type 2 diabetic, I have been trying to use some of the health tech to get better. Since my A1C was 9.2 the PCP told me I have to take medication.

    The Dexcom G6 costs US$260 a month where I am if you join their yearly plan, or $3120 a year (with break fee). If not on their plan the price goes up to US$370 a month. Also the app only works with a limited list of compatible Android devices, so it's more for the iPhone/Apple Watch crowd.

    This is a very interesting video because I have one on order through Walgreens. Insurance is dragging their feet. Hopefully I'll have it in April and I anticipate it will help me a lot because the one thing we diabetics dread are those constant finger pricks several times a day.
    I do have one question. Will the Dexcom G6 software push out notifications on your phone if your blood sugar glucose rises above and drops below a user defined threshold? I really would like to know the answer as a safety factor when driving a vehicle.

    I'm Type 1 diabetic as well, but really waiting for technology like Glucose monitoring without any needle etc , like rumours were coming about Apple watch that they're implementing soon but already 2-3 years passed , still not any device released yet.
    Although this Piece of tech really amazing for person like me but kinda scary to use that "Sensor" in body lmao

    hello, good sir, what should we do, we have no money to buy a G7, we barely earn enough money to provide insulin for my 11 year old son, for the G7, it's just a matter of looking and greedy, it will be a great joy for my child to get G7 😩

    How often do you've to remove the sensor patch from the skin? And do you've to take it off while taking shower? Does water touches the skin while the patch is on?

    • @russellseaton2014
      @russellseaton2014 2 роки тому

      The Dexcom G6 sensor lasts 10 days. The patch stays glued to your skin for 10 days. The patch and sensor inside the patch stays on you while showering. The pump or Dexcom receiver does not come into the shower. The sensor sends Bluetooth signals to the pump or receiver while showering. You put the receiving device close to the shower. But not in it. Its not waterproof. No water gets under the patch while wearing it. The patch is tape that does not allow water to get through it. You do not water to affect the glue holding the patch/sensor to your skin. If you sweat a lot, then the patch can come loose while wearing it. And then you need to apply Skin Tac or other tape to keep it on. For the entire 10 day lifespan.

    I'm curious how someone your age in obviously good shape has Type 2 diabetes as it is largely avoidable with lifestyle changes? As a type 1 diabetic I wonder about this as I have no choice about my disease...

    • @jvtechtea
      @jvtechtea  2 роки тому +4

      Runs in my family. Lifestyle is definitely a big part of it, but I have a level of insulin resistance that is rather profound.

  • @timstetson1281
    @timstetson1281 2 роки тому

    I am Type II as well and beginning to wonder if I need to start monitoring my sugar levels more. But, I dread the finger sticks.
    Is the system waterproof or do you remove it for bathing?

    • @jvtechtea
      @jvtechtea  2 роки тому +1

      The sensors and transmitters are water resistant - I do add an extra patch on top (the large brown area around the sensor) that gives it another layer to cover the sensor adhesive area. Never had an issue showering, and I've swam with them on a few times with no issues.

  • @lingars001
    @lingars001 2 роки тому

    Can this be removed once inserted?

    • @jvtechtea
      @jvtechtea  2 роки тому

      Yes, each sensor works for about 10 days, at which point you remove it and transfer the transmitter to a newly inserted sensor.

  • @sensible202

    Are the readings accurate/same compared to the conventional way?

    • @jvtechtea
      @jvtechtea  2 роки тому +1

      They have shown to be the same as my fingersticks, so far. I know there are times when it might be different between the two, but you can calibrate the G6 with fingerstick readings to make sure you're getting more accurate results based on more data points.
