- The 95th Annual Morehouse-Spelman Christmas Carol Concert aired virtually via the Morehouse College website, Facebook, and UA-cam channels on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021.
This year’s pre-recorded celebration featured favorites like Morehouse’s popular rendition of “Betelehemu” and Spelman’s “We Are Christmas.”
The 95th Annual Christmas Carol Concert was led and arranged by the Colleges' Glee Club directors:

I had the pleasure of attending a Morehouse concert several years ago in San Francisco. What a joy, what a pleasure, what talent. These young men exemplified the best America has to offer.
Congratulations to Spelman and Morehouse College 95 years of great tradition and glorious music. Wishing you 94 more plus years of wonderful great music
68 years of plying the organ. I remember her when I was a student in 1998! Wow.
Steven Coffee • 😳😁 I'm more astounded than you‼️After, serving in the Military ; was a 32 yr. old Morehouse Freshman & member of the Morehouse Glee Club under Dr. Wendell P. Whalum (1931-87). Dr. Johnson was there , then. Dr. David Morrow, was Mr. Morrow, my 24 yr. old piano teacher❗I'm 70 years old. We dedicated that statue, in front of King Chapel ; were taught "Betelehemu" by the great Nigerian artist, Michael Babatunde Olatunji ; and recorded "Peaceful Warrior" with Spelman, jazz great, Dr. Billy Taylor & The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, under Conductor Robert Shaw, commemorating the 1st MLK, Jr. National Holiday 1984. Drs. Johnson & Morrow‼️👍💪💞

I was a Clark College music Major in 1958 and Dr. Johnson was my Counterpoint Class instructor at Spelman. I’ve watched her through the years and I’m still blown away by her endurance, talent and professionalism.
Lovely melodious voices, may Almighty God continue to bless them all.
My first time discovering this amazing Christmas Concert; it shall be my staple. Beautiful and handsome young African Americans talents,I am blessed and humbled to witness such wonderful performance. May God continue to raise you up .

I never miss the Christmas Concert. The young ladies and young men sing so beautifully. I sang in the Glee Club as a student under Dr James. Dr Johnson was the organist then. I graduated in 1961.

The sophistication of this Christmas concert is breathtaking! The ladies of Spelman performed a beautiful rendition of All Men Draw Near. Harmony while whistling? A surprising first that made me smile. The Morehouse men's performance of Bethelehema was amazing!! I was working on a Christmas project but found myself moving to the rhythms along with the chorus. WOW! The organist makes this performance so regal! Thank you for bringing this performance to UA-cam...much appreciated!!

Amazing!!! These talented young musicians are mesmerizing 🤩! Listening to this also makes me reflect on my ancestors ❤. That rendition of "Children Go Where I Send Thee" left me speechless. This concert has become a staple of my Christmas celebrations. I watch each concert several times each season. Many thanks to the students, the organist, the directors and everyone who makes this wonderful concert a reality every year.

I'm a Black American who lives in Europe (Paris), and have attended my fair share of very good choir performances in churches here. I've just watched your recorded performance alongside a friend who is a violinist and music professor, and we both agree that your choir is really top notch: professional; world class; in short, excellent. Bravo to you, Morehouse and Spelman College Glee Clubs, Directors Johnson and Morrow, and your vivacious organist, Joyce Johnson. .. and thank you for giving me something to feel so proud about, which emanates from my native country; It's been awhile. PS: I'll be sharing the link with another "Black American in Paris" who happens to be a Morehouse alumnus.

I just finished reading "The Love Songs of W.E.B. Dubois" by Honore Fanone Jeffers. How serendipitous that I came upon the college that was integral to Jeffer's remarkable novel, playing this stunningly beautiful music on Christmas morning.

The holiday season is over and I just discovered this phenomenal concert. The optics and sound of it are magnificent. I intend to make it apart of my annual Christmas festivities. I especially enjoyed the rendition of "Mary Had A Baby" at 35:12. This collaborative effort is the embodiment of grace and class. The rich and storied traditions of Morehouse and Spelman are in good hands.

This was a really - really good program, and I loved it. I stay with the program to the very end. And that one young man who was directing did a lovely job. The choir was all in tone and no one stepped on each other. I just pray 🙏 that it will be back next year Mary Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year.
