When so much in our world looms dark and threatening, an immersion in this great music is the antidote to fear and despair, for it points us to the One who offers Truth, Peace, and Hope…Jesus Christ is our Salvation…Thanks be to God! Thank you for this gift of music that speaks to our souls. Blessings…
I haven't been able to hear music like this in over two decades. I greatly miss it. Unfortunately this is the only way I get to hear it. Unfortunately I was born in the US, where this glorious music isn't really appreciated as much anymore. Thank you.
I just wanted to say that listening to all these fantastic Hymns and Carols remind me of my days as a choirboy in St James Church in Portsmouth. The J.W Walker Organ there used to rattle the windows between choir stalls and the side chapel, thanks to the 4 x 16ft pedal stops (plus 1 more 16ft Double Diapason if coupled to the Great). I would often sit in the organ loft turning pages for the choirmaster / organist Mr Marks if I was unable to sing. I reached the dizzying heights of 2nd head choirboy and was actually paid for my services at weddings which reached the dizzying heights of Two and Sixpence back in 1968! My biggest achievement as a chorister was singing a solo verse of 'We Three Kings' in Portsmouth Cathedral in front of the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, probably in about 1970. My biggest regret was that I never kept singing as I would have enjoyed seeing if I could have made it as either an Alto or Tenor in a choir. I am finding myself listening to more liturgy and Organ music now as I think I appreciate the finely crafted music and moral messages so missing in contemporary music. I am now attempting to get back into reading music and have a virtual 'Grand Orgue' to try and master! Keep up the great work & I cant wait to see the great unveiling of the new Organ next week. It looks fabulous. You must be very proud. Merry Christmas to you, Caroline and your Family.
I'd steeled myself for the inevitable "every song has a story" discussions coming here and was trepidated with minor dread, just wanting to relax with glorious pipe organ music here on the day after Boxing Day. But my worries were for naught. As your quite melodious voice is not at all the prating one often hears from self-proclaimed music personalities but rather is fit quite nicely in every intro, and I soon found meself on the carpet with a trusty canine curled up by me, drifting off the both of us in enjoyment. You really do play well, sir. Thank you and may God bless you richly.
As a Canadian and always hearing/singing "O Little Town of Bethlehem" to the tune "St. Louis," how nice to hear it on here played to "Forest Green." -- Beautiful selection of carols, thank you. Merry Christmas.
This is very serene and comforting music to listen to, when there are so many trials and tribulations in life today. Listening to this, makes me think of our Lord Jesus, born on that first Christmas Day, long ago. He will carry us through, no matter what we may face in life. Thanks be to God.
16:35 SING!...choirs of Angels! SING!....in EXULTATION! SING!...al ye CITIZENS of Heaven above. ( That's us you know..) 16:55 GLORY to GOD ...ALL glory on the highest. I just dig that Willcocks cord.
When these days are so very stressful with the uncertainties of all that the future holds listening to this Heavenly music has a soothing and calming effect on our nerves.Thank God for the gift of Music with originated in the Heavenly realms when a host of Angel's sang Glory to God on high and Peace on earth to men of goodwill
I know it may seem wierd to be listening to Christmas music so early in the year - I'm finding myself in the mood now. I think the Christmas spirit keeps biting me earlier and earlier every year. I think it's because I want Jesus to return right now. Here in this place. BTW I have always loved Forest Green as a hymn tune for "O Little Town of Bethlehem" !
AWESOME! AMAZING! EXCITING! INSPIRING! SO many ELEMENTS of this MAGNIFICENT PROGRAM...that I am truly overwhelmed w/tears of JOY!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS to YOU, CAROLINE, & baby HUGO!!!
It is amazing to hear this magnificent organ and to see this huge Cathedral. It is a privilege to hear and see all this. We in the Netherlands do have also very famous and beautiful churches and organs. For example the Church of St. Bavo and the famous Müller organ. It would be a dream come through to play such an organ as in St Edmundsbury Cathedral but it is also very nice to see and hear it from my place here. Thank you and be blessed...
So lovely🎶 I was transported back to memories of my childhood ,listening to the organ at my Lutheran church and additionally transported back to memories of time spent at Moody Church, Chicago where the organ was positively regal sounding. But your playing on this organ was majestic and I praise God Immanuel for such beautiful music and talent.Thank you for sharing this concert
My thoughts exactly! Memories of dwelling on thoughts of a majestic Lord when just a child in our Lutheran church and the organ music resonated throughout my heart! The hymns are so much richer now that I know Him who is worthy of our praise!
Thanks. I just discovered this. What a wonderful cathedral. Your playing was equally as wonderful. This put me in the spirit. I can no longer play. So, watching you was a bonus. Have s great Advent and a Merry Christmas!
Terima kasih Richard Mc Veigh telah mengupload Video Musik orgel yang sudah jarang saya dengar, apalagi di Indonesia. Kiranya menjadi Berkat bagi banyak orang . GBU
Geoffrey Griffith in Philadelphia usa formerly choir boy of all saints Anglican church in Barbados in the 1960 ties this is great organ playing by Mr McVeigh God gave him a gift i am enjoying it very much amen.
A outstanding recital with some fabulous registration. Thank you so much; you have brought great hope and joy to our household this Advent-tide. And to finish with "Rhosymedre". Terrific!
Thank you for your beautiful work! People can feel that you enjoy it, you like it. I really love the sound of this instrument, colors which are in it, moods, harmonies.. Thank you, God Bless!
Thank you from Miami, FL! What a joyful and uplifting concert to bring in the Christmas celebration! This organ is a magnificent instrument played by a magnificent organist.
It's only just clicked in my memory whilst I re listen to this. I have been to a Carol service at St Edmundsbury Cathedral. I remember me and my friend went to the Christmas market after.
Simply put, this needs to be made into an album. This is a fantastic production which needs to be shared well beyond the UA-cam audience. Thank you for developing this content.
What a wonderful video and performance. I've been a lover of pipe organ music since my mid teens. (I'm now 63.) Though I rarely hear any these days, Christmas is a time to dig out my favourite records of it. (Particularly the Festival of carols from King's College, Cambridge.) The Widor Toccata was a suprise. Though a long time favourite of course, I never associated it with Christmas. I can hardly play a note, but I've always fantasized performing it with it's dramatic finale. You seemed to quite enjoy it. Thank You for an inspiring show. And I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
I loved the cinematography showing us where you were seated and the many fascinating views of the cathedral. Yes, we enjoyed ALL of it! How great that you love playing what you do and we love listening to what you play in your unique, wonderful ways!
Really enjoyed listening to Christmas Hymns on the organ. Here in the Southern States of the USA we don't have many pipe organs, so this was a treat!! Thank you!!
I've been a long time fan of Widors toccata even teaching myself to play it in my younger years. You played it exceptionally well and bought me a lot of pleasure listening to it. Such a splendid organ. Thank you for your virtual concert and tour.
Richard, Julie Andrews introduced "The Holy Boy" to many of us with earlier recordings, and Christmas TV specials. I agree, it is a splendid song, along with "In The Bleak Mid-Winter." DJ in Knoxville TN
All excellent, as usual, dear Richard and Caroline. Happy Christmas to all at Beauty in Sound Virtual Church. I can hear the new BiS console being installed this week. A great Advent indeed.
I just found this a few days ago and I can't begin to tell you how much I've enjoyed it. Your commentary is great, your music selection is wonderful, and your performance is as spectacular as that MAGNIFICENT instrument. Finishing with Widor is really the icing on the cake. I love to listen to it as much as I love to play it.
Dear Richard, I am enjoying this music again this advent, and my favourite remains God rest ye merry, gentlemen. That ending is sublime! Listening to it on repeat at the moment. Thank you!
Thankyou Richard for such a wonderful compilation. It was a blessing to us all here in my family home and Church. I cant watch live BIS anymore, due to time difference. I miss the virtual church and community so much. It was my highlight of the week!
Bless you for this, RICHARD. I'm a great fan of the late architect, Stephen Dykes-Bower, who had sufficient vision to turn this, already magnificent Parish Church, into a true Cathedral; its central tower modelled on that of Canterbury, in tribute to its architect, the great John Wastell. who is thought to have been responsible for the nave at St Edmundsbury. This is a truly lovely collection.
17:30 my favourite part! It must be amazing to be in a place where the organ is played like that. One day I want to get organ lessons, such a beautiful instrument 🎶🎶
Thank you so much sir for the organ music.🎶 I am trying to get in the Xmas spirit after a major procedure. I am doing well and back at work tomorrow. Thanks again. God is good all the time…
When so much in our world looms dark and threatening, an immersion in this great music is the antidote to fear and despair, for it points us to the One who offers Truth, Peace, and Hope…Jesus Christ is our Salvation…Thanks be to God! Thank you for this gift of music that speaks to our souls. Blessings…
What a true and telling comment.
I agree entirely. Thanks for those thoughts
Amen, Sara! Jesus Christ, the hope of Christmas who encourages us to sing " make music in our hearts."
Our lord is alive and always able
Song of hope
Amen!

Listening to these songs ,
there will be times when eternity can be seen
I haven't been able to hear music like this in over two decades. I greatly miss it. Unfortunately this is the only way I get to hear it. Unfortunately I was born in the US, where this glorious music isn't really appreciated as much anymore. Thank you.
I will echo your sentiments. I was able to locate old Rennaisance and Baroque cd.s years ago and sadly a couple have worn out.

Here I am again, enjoying y'all's renditions. If this doesn't light your Christmas fire, your wood is wet!
Thank God for and traditional Christmas music played on the organ!!

This dude and his love of hymns and organs rocks.
This organ is a heavenly and holy instrument. Exquisite. Well played.
Opening with "Once in Royal David's City," sent chills up and down my spine. So beautiful, tender and So English!"
As a Canadian and always hearing/singing "O Little Town of Bethlehem" to the tune "St. Louis," how nice to hear it on here played to "Forest Green." -- Beautiful selection of carols, thank you. Merry Christmas.
Richard, you are absolutely the King of Christmas carols!!! Thank you so much for this magnificent music!
Despite what some may say, I do believe a good many people in the US appreciate the stylings you treat the carols and tunes of Christmas with!!!
Who could not like these songs pLayed so masterfully. Bravo

Sends cheers and tears.
Thank you from Northern Indiana, USA. There is really nothing like a good H&H for such an occasion.
