Good on you for sticking with a name you like and not listening to naysayers. If someone doesn't like the name, they don't have to buy the boots. I'm kind of torn between these and the Nicks tactical boots... aaaagh who wants my money the most lol.
Dr. Sole created a heavy lug sole called "Tumaz" a while ago. Which was inspired by the Taiwan Formosan Black Bear. It has a very cool bear face on the heel. I think it would fit very well with the whole BEAR SLAYERS theme.
My first pair of PNW boots KILLED the tops of my feet from bunching up like you explained. After two months or so of wearing them as much as I could stand at work they are by FAR the most comfortable boot I have ever had. First two months sucked ass tho
Same with my 6" OTs. Till I learned on reddit to leave the laces long so you can wrap them around the back of your ankle, through the pull loop, and then tie at the top. It helps break them in much faster
Ok red dog rumbler is still by fare best looking colab you did in my eyes. This is really cool, but why extra stitch on the inner side. S V2 had that incredible no apology asymmetry, that is out for sure?
I just got JK boots 😭 Love them but I wish I had more money to get these too. Hopefully people who want them can get them. JK makes some killer boots for the money.
Great looking custom JK boots. I am curious if these initial Bear Slayer variants are based on the Canyon Bison rough out or the darker brown original Bison rough out on the original JK OT bison release? Thanks and keep up the great content.
@@andrewacton5885 thanks for the reply. I have the OT brown bison and they appear darker than the video so I was hopeful these were canyon bison so I could justify buying the collab. Haha.
@J.H.O.verland haha I want to have my 8" ots rebuilt into a superduty S but then these bear slayers were announced and I'm fuckin sweating on what I should do lol
Yes, 6" boots are mostly horrible, but I don't see enough difference from the 7 to the 8 that I wouldn't just want the 8. And I'd still likely prefer a 10.
I love your reviews, I would like, however, to respectfully disagree; there is a boot that looks close to that cool, is currently available, and that is the Truman boot cap toe dark cayote roughout. That being said, I'm still on the list and will be loitering around the Nicks Website on the 23rd trying to convince myself that I chose the right order size.
Maybe a flexible panel or strip underside the flex teeth that they could be outline stitched to to provide support to the laces ? Cordova maybe? Not really visible but flexible and tough
Very interesting, the Vibram soles are good, don't see them a lot anymore. The flesh out leather is a big negative for me. How how you supposed to keep it clean much less waterproof it?
Nice boot! But hunting application? Maybe if you’re sitting over beat bait and not putting on miles over hilly terrain. Flexible soul is bad news for packing out on steeps.
I signed for mailing list. Looking at Nicks and JK Bison boots. I want smooth side. Canyon smooth Bison skin looks good. I prefer skin. I like exotic skins. I would prefer an exotic skin combat boot than cowboy boots. I am an Ex US Ranger, I used to speed March in boots. Your show interests me because of all the nuances to make the it more chic and comfortable. My look is EDC Chic, if I need to scratch my boots in an emergency then so be it, but with a mirror spit smooth polish, that bison skin will shine. I will stick in knife and gun pockets to clip a gun or knife to, and I would like to reinforce arch support, might get arborists add on, and would like to use bison skin on the tongue too, plus the little cut outs and eye and speed lace modifications. I will be really careful about oils and conditioners cuz I want the shine and not the color change. Call me for the brown and zodiac edition, I am on mailing list. I am also making one with Nicks too.
Personally I think 8" is perfect, because I've always thought of 10" as being tall with an 8" being a perfect compromise between a 6" and a 10". I have a 7" boot and they just kind of feel a bit off. They're perfectly fine but not as perfect as an 8".
650$ for 7 inch rough out bison. For the same price I can get custom roughout bison 10 inch with American flag on the side and those are super duty trippen
Your timing sucks d#%k....just waiting on sale of our property end of month or next month and first thing on the list is a pair of jk....would love a pair of these bad boys...maybe they will make them a production boot...lol
I’m 3 hours from Spokane, this has to be satire because JK has the most customer complaints out of all the PNW boot makers, they have more “issues” than White’s, Nicks, & Frank’s put together.
Which in particular? I know fit issues used to be widespread because of their dumbass old sizing system, which has now been updated more in line with the others. My impression was that they made good boots, but had poor customer service and handled things like the aforementioned sizing badly. I've heard that White's was the one with the most QC issues. Nicks I hear the best about, and Frank's very little at all - which is a good thing, and also because they're the newest & smallest iirc.
They're both completely different boot categories though. Iron boots are pretty much on the dressy side of service/heritage boots while a PNW boot is well, PNW. More logger boot than anything else.

I'm going to order these. I'm going to use them for a high demand hike. Is there something you'd do different on this boot for a heavy pack hike ???
hello ! are there any way to get them in Europe ?
Where’s the cut in half?

I doubt I have the money, but man do I want them! haha Best collaboration yet! Also LOVE the white stitching!

Very cool boots. I love the passion. Keep doing what you're doing!
I like the first one better. 8” and the dark stitching. Both awesome though!
This is so nerdy and I love it.
Really want you to tackle English country boots next, now that you've absolutely conquered the notion of what is a PNW boot. Hats off mate.
Boots look cool! Though I do prefer the non white stitching
Agreed. I was getting more and more tempted as he showed the previous version. When the white stitching came out, it lost me.
changing the sole to the bear sole from Dr. Sole will be perfect.
The last one felt like an interesting proof of concept, but this one looks top-notch ready to ship. Can't wait to see them broken in on foot.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'm impatient. How much are these going to cost?
I’d like to see an old school style boot with a BOA system I’d definitely buy it .
Ok red dog rumbler is still by fare best looking colab you did in my eyes. This is really cool, but why extra stitch on the inner side. S
V2 had that incredible no apology asymmetry, that is out for sure?
Put me down for a Kodiak version.
Would love to get a pair of JKs
Love it and the enthusiasm! Wax it out and I’m sold!
Waiting on blood core black bear slayers
Man I don’t see a price 🤷♂️ … I love my microtech 😁
I just got JK boots 😭
Love them but I wish I had more money to get these too.
Hopefully people who want them can get them. JK makes some killer boots for the money.
if they weren't gonna be close to 1k! ever a chance you'll do a collab that's not luxury priced?
He did collab with Jim Green on the Bearfoot African Ranger, it's a completely different style of boot though of course
How water/mud resistant are they im in the south and both of those are concerns
None ... The leather is raw and every drop of water will sucks in the leather. You can wax the leather but you loose the fluffynes and the look ...
@BogdanDulgheru yeah but waxing roughout is fun af.
Is there a projected cost or is it one of those "if you have to ask. . ."
CAN YOU MAKE AN ARBORIST BOOT. ONE WITH A BUILT IN LOOP FOR ASCENDERS?
Bear slayer is pretty cool branding. If you're 10 years old. Sweet boot though
I think Bear Trackers sounds just as cool and purposeful but a little more mature too.
Nope, still cool at 44. You're incorrect.
I don’t mind it. I think it’s fun.
If you’re a fancy boot snob maybe you don’t like the name. I’d bet plenty of people find it fun though.
@@TylerSnyder305 Agreed
Can't wait for the black bear slayers.

It looks to be exactly the same bottoming as the OT. That's the standard bison color as well

ANOTHER vid about dese boots???
OK, so they changed the instep or something.
No, I think the problem is the first flex tooth is too high, like I sorta said before.
so THREE instead of one or two. yay
I think my LTTs are cooler.
Yes, 6" boots are mostly horrible, but I don't see enough difference from the 7 to the 8 that I wouldn't just want the 8. And I'd still likely prefer a 10.

I want a pair!
how does the sole feel in terms of softness compared to the white vibram?
You think they'd work out as a rider boot.🏍
please also send the sizing info in cm's for the non-american fans ;) These boots look amazing!!!
I wonder if Wes planned a Polar Bear Slayer to? 😅
@roseanvil2 are these boots fire rated?
TBH, I’m pretty sure you’ll need a lot more than these boots to hunt and kill a bear. Just saying this as a public service announcement 😂😂
Wait till Weston releases the bear laying boot.
@@cheekibreeki9155 😂
The version 2.0 should be a rifle
Like pants?
Im still mad I missed the nd3.
Very interesting, the Vibram soles are good, don't see them a lot anymore. The flesh out leather is a big negative for me. How how you supposed to keep it clean much less waterproof it?
You know what they say, "kill a bear, better share"!
the space station gaming hoodie tho
Are there any other boots with cutouts in the instep like these?
Nicks just came out with one.
Sure, Beleville c795 military boots and probably many more
These are dope
They wouldn't do munson like last?
JK uses the 3708 last for everything i think, which is more like the Nicks 11067 or Whites 4811 than the 55.
I like the 8 inch boot height better
Bears sometimes slay humans. You don’t want to be that guy and happen to be wearing Bear Slayer boots.

You've got to try Chris Reeve Sebenza 31!
Wouldn't you lose a little ankle support? Im pretty sure you would. Maybe not.

What size you wear in these Weston?

Im glad the "bear slayer" hate didnt sway you from renaming the bear slayers. Good on you
"what boots are those?"
"bear slayers"
"they're made of bear?"
"no"
also kind of mall ninja name
PLEASE MAKE IT 360 STITCH DOWN.

OK so he's taken a pnw boot and turned them into normal boots. Whoopty fucken doo.
