I got a buffalo hide wallet for $20....$100 for a wallet seems counter productive......it's quite a simple pattern.... probably feels better to make a simple $10 wallet...like high school leather shop 🐮
Cobbler here: I haven't been doing it as long as alot of people. But, after working on several PNW brands, and receiving customer feedback, I have to disagree with the Blake stitching vs nails debate. On a new boot, nails may or may not be stronger. It's up for debate. However, nails seem to loosen and let in more water over time. Although nails are an easier fix, the Blake stitch seems to be more of a "one and done" type of construction. While nails seem to be more of a "fix as necessary" type of thing.
Question: How about for re-soling? A couple of my more recent boots are 360 hand-welted with storm welts, full leather mid-soles, and they *seem* to be the simplest, easiest to re-sole or re-welt possible.
@@InGrindWeCrust2010 As long as the stitching stops at the midsole, a resole should be as easy as peel the old outsole off, slap the new one on, and do some trimming/finishing. Re doing the welt is a good bit more involved. But, you should be able to get at least a couple of resoles before new welts are necessary.
in my opinion a nail down construction would be the easiest since the midsole is usually thicker and durable so it should be able to be restitched and resoled many more times
@@dsdiesel8667 They're all different construction. Thorogood is Goodyear welted and many of them have rubber welts. Their not quite as durable but Thorogood will replace the gemming, welt, filler, and sole for $150 or less. Origin have Blake McKay stitching, where the footbed is stitched on the inside edge all the way through the mid-sole (or in some cases, the out-sole, too). Re-soling *should* just involve peeling off the outsole and gluing a new one on. JK have stitchdown construction (of the most common types in Pacific Northwest boots) and for a re-sole, should also just need to have the outer sole peeled off, but the new sole *may* need to be glued on and stitched through the flanged upper, mid-sole, and outer sole, depending on the model. It's worth watching manufacturing videos from all 3 companies to see the differences. Personally, I think they're all good value and they are all re-solable.
Love your channel brother. For your information we(Wildland firefighters in the US) wear aramids and para-aramids. So nomex, kevlar, lyocell(semi synthetic) and modacryllic etc. However, our bags usually use cordura due to its abrasion resistance. Nylon isn't used in our PPE due to the fact it melts instead of charring while also having a lower thermal threshold when exposed to a consistent heart source.
As a jiu jitsu guy I really like their stuff. I deeply wish they would make a zero drop version of this. They already got the wide toe box, so they're about halfway there.
The first time I've seen Rose Anvil complaining about the leather being TOO thick lol. Seeing the jungle boot inspired design makes me think of GoRuck boots, which take direct inspiration from the original jungle boots and is meant as a modernized and more sporty version of them. Hope to see dissection video of those.
Been wearing Origin jeans for a couple years now and love them. Picked up a pair of their boots last year and they are only getting better each time I wear them. It's great to support American brands actually making things in America. Btw love my Rose Anvil Claude Wallet.
Excellent vid. I’ve surprised my self at how interested in boot construction and informed as well that I’ve become from watching these videos. Great work and greetings from England
Same here. Never thought I could sit and watch all these videos and go back and search through them like I do. They are interesting. And they're making me want to buy some really nice boots like this haha!
I have two pairs of the origin composite toe, large lug work boots and both have fiberglass shanks, so they have been doing fiberglass shanks prior to this model change
I like my origin Coronado whisky boots, had them for 2 years, I also have the Lincoln boots, they’re cool too, like a tea core leather. I don’t see a problem with this hybrid boot, Hoffman’s boots has been using cordura canvas in their powerline boots for years, possibly the greatest line boot ever made. I see this update as a positive and I like the gusseted tongues. I’d like to see them gusseted all the way up but any gusset is better than none.
I haven't checked... But if they made this exact boot without the nylon panels, and in black... I'd be really pleased and buy some. Well worth the money I think.
A perfect price point for this boot. I think it compares with the White's Perry boots that a few bucks more. I did notice that the boots kind of crimped up a little when you where bending them. I would like to see these boots when you get a 1000 miles in them to see how they hold up. Thanks for another good video.
They offer it in black too. A lot of guys just like that brown boot with white sole look. I never cared for it which is why I got mine with the black Christy sole.
origin's jeans are really good if you havent tried them. a perfect amount of stretch while looking very nice. i have several pairs now and theyre the only jeans ill wear, unless its old jeans im wearing because they are likely to get destroyed while doing whatever outdoor activity. have some of their nyloc shorts which are great so far too. big fan of their stuff, none of it has disappointed in the slightest.
I have 6 pair of Origin boots and these are my least favorite just due to the lining on the inside. They’re comfortable but I know the lining is going to wear out before the rest of the boot does. I’m not saying they’re bad boots but they’re just not going to hold up as well as their standard boots do over time.
I desperately need that beautiful wallet but can't afford it right now but I would love to give you a real test run of one, and as a man who is 6.3 200lb and gets in and out of the truck all day I'll give it a real durability test! I have to buy a wallet and boot every 6 months because of my size and routine
Tried the Coronado boots last year and didn't like them. There was a squeak somewhere in the midsole from the layers rubbing together and I found a good amount of bad stitching. I like the look of the hybrid boot but not having a counter cover on the inside is a deal breaker. That fabric lining around the heel is not gonna last at all. Good to see they're using a shank in their non-work oriented stuff now though.
As a fellow big-footed dude (size 15) I feel your pain. Where I live there is literally not ONE FREAKING PAIR of any shoe or boot above size 13 in any store
I want to like these boots, i have two pairs, too much squish and not enough support for all day work on my feet. I wish they would come out with a pair with a veg tan leather lasting board and more arch, i would be tempted to buy a third pair and would be willing to pay more
You guys don't listen. Yes, those brands are 100% MADE in the USA. Origin is 100% MADE and SOURCED FROM the USA. Those are two different claims to fame.
@ u still can’t make the same claim abt both. Obviously origin is the actual American made. Like leatherman now makes a lot of their shiz in china but assembled it in USA and claiming it’s USA made when it’s only kinda made in USA.
They should make this in a safety toe variety with more water resistance and I'm in. I've had two of their work boots and had issues with their soles and with the lack of water resistance
Honestly I have a fun little game I play when I see a new video posted... Count the fingers 😂 gotta say I've been feeling let down every video... so far
I wish they would have avoided lining the canvas. Living in a desert I want something like my Belleville hot weather Air Force boot that is just canvas but with a leather midsole and rubber outsole instead of the har plastic sole of the Belleville.
I would prefer if Origin would avoid using any fabrics inside the boots other than the canvas shaft which I would prefer being unlined as I live in Arizona and breathability is very desirable here.
Not for me. Still using a fiberboard insole and synthetic materials throughout. Plus, they're honestly pretty ugly. I'd buy a JK 300 over this any day.
got any recommendations for a fat guy with wide feet the last 3 pairs of boot blew the sides out one pair on the bottom and 2 were the tongue meets the outer side
Not that I can justify $300 boots for work, but I can't wear these there. Canvas is prohibited. If I have an arc flash or an arc blast on or near them that's definitely melting regardless of how much better nylon it's made from.
Yo, I'm watching this one right away to get Joe Rogan's ugly mug off my timeline STAT. Brilliant play, marketing team! Ps. I received my belt last week, and I love it.
It’s crazy to me there’s guys out there still worried about having to resole boots. I promise the pain it saves your feet and knees is worth the pain in the wallet.
But what is the official boot of Chuck Norris? He kicks soemoen in the head 200X in every movie. His boots should get credit for being his biggest co-star.

Origin needs to try and make a cowboy boot… it would be so much better than when Thursday tried it…although it’s a WHOLE different world of boot making than your standard lace up work boot 🤷♂️
I wish I liked this company, but I have not seen any boot styles, so far, from them that I would wear regularly. Glad they have an audience and fanbase. Just not for me. Well made, I'm sure.
Stole the design from modern jungle or light weight desert boots. They are actually garbage to work in they are made for rich millennials who want to look like they work for a living.
Or Good Old Fashioned AMERICANS who want to support REAL products that are truly made in AMERICA 🇺🇸 by AMERICANS ! ? I’d buy Origin Boots because of the simple fact they are entirely made in USA 🇺🇸 and I wouldn’t use them for work, but for casual everyday wear!! Proudly supporting them!!!!

Vasque hiking boots from 2005 had some awesome hiking boots. Got a new pair their shite. Please consider doing a review on them.
Hey Rose Anvil, since you asked...I do have a pair of Origin (Coronado's) Boots & I Luv'em. BTW, I thoroughly enjoy & appreciate All of your videos!
Have origin boots, jeans, and clothing. All are great and do actually last for years and wear in well. Will always buy origin.
I haven't checked... But if they made this exact boot without the nylon panels, and in black... I'd be really pleased and buy some. Well worth the money I think.
I have the original Coronado and wished I would have sized up half a size. Glad to see they widened the toe box.

The cut looked pretty good. 5.21 is low. I think it was in the sevens. A good solid cut that anybody should be happy about.
Excellent review, answers all my questions.
Nice boot, I like the panel style. The tread is way too light, though, and white soles are not to my personal taste.
They have several sole.options
Wtf do companies use the white Christy sole? Gets nasty looking so quick
Is the best think ever, learn how to clean them and stop complaining.
Yup they look terrible even when new i guess to each their own but they just look stupid to me. You're right when they're dirty it's even worse.
Because a lot of people care more about the inherent comfort they offer than the "OMG, my work boots are gonna get dirty" part🤷
They offer it in black too. A lot of guys just like that brown boot with white sole look. I never cared for it which is why I got mine with the black Christy sole.

Half the quality, but the side panel is similar.

Looks less like a heritage boot and more like a boot/sneaker hybrid. Tryring to combine both and loosing the bennifits of both

Most American in legacy, but these would maybe be the most American made depending on where Russell sources their thread

I like these a lot, reminds me of Thoroughgoods moctoe, alas I have converted to barefoot style shoes.
Their new moc toe has a rubber midsole thats US sourced so that shoild be finally a 100% US boot.
Other than the sole rubber, are the other components of PNW boots foreign-made? Hardware and thread?
That’s a sign of good leather
I didn't know they wore boots in the UFC 😂. That would be interesting in the octagon.

It’s basically a modernized Marine jungle boot
I bought boots from a Mexico and the insole is veg tan leather but it's hard. How do I make the insole soft?
Can't. Invest in gel foot beds or other soft material.
