That looks like the perfect platform for a refueling extension boom for space stations. If you somehow run a conveyer down the middle, instead of the pathway, maybe with rotor-mounted tubes that counteract the rotation? Clang?
Nice idea! That should be doable and would certainly look the part. The bridge has some phantom forces when closed, but haven't had it disintegrate unexpectedly.
Nice! So it's back to ramps then... ok! lol I've been messing around with hinge-circles and made the "Repair-Ring" that I had in mind for repairing ships. Pretty big, but it looks cool. 3 Rings directly behind each other. Each with 36 hinges and 36 pipe-conveyer-junctions and 18 Pistons with a welder and a sensor. It can weld ships up to a diameter of 22,5m (9 blocks). Clang is pretty happy too. No problems yet. I wonder what you'll come up with next...
It's certainly seen a lot of improvemets. My personal favorite is probably the hitbox update that allowed us to build tightly packed things like this without them binding together.
Surprisingly Clang was almost satisfied with my design this time :D No it doesn't. Although the sensor that closes and opens the gate on both ends is located at the far end. You could opt out from using the gate or add a timer that opens the gate at the starting end after some amount of time so there wouldn't be a need for a sensor at all.
@@MjuMeli Not that i can think of, but people did make single block airlocks before. And doors that extended well outside thier original block range. (Casepoint: Ramps)
@@MjuMeli Simple to do: Create a blueprint of a single small-grid block. Edit the blueprint file as text (in %appdata%\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints\local\yourblueprintedblock\), change false to true, or if it doesn't exist, insert true before , save the file, *delete the SBCB5 file* next to the SBC file (SE regenerates it as needed), and start pasting it into the ground. This is now your small-grid, static "seed" block.

Great tips from people! Though as far as I know using these tricks still won't let you place new blocks that intersect with the voxels like in large grid. So you'll have to finish your build outside the voxels and embed it as a final step.
Well it's also level, evenly colored and well lit. Good for showcasing. I mostly mean the bridge to be used over moats or between two tall parts of your base etc.
This is a really cool way of packaging everything into a 5x5x5 space, and it looks like minimal Klang! Nice work!

Just use the hinges and pistons AS the fueling boom, then you can connect them to the connector on the end on the side ports.
Ah yes the humble accordion ramp
*rushes to build an accordion*
I do wish things like this could be possible on ships without slowly pushing your ship around with the invisible hand of clang.
Yeah that would be nice! Using armor panels instead of half armor blocks could maybe reduce the phantom forces.

Wow, sounds epic!
Yeah, I've been experimenting with all sorts of moving stuff. I've built some custom doors I might end up doing a video on.
I would love to see a tutorial on how to make that beauty.
Thanks for letting me know! I could include it in a tutorial compilation thing I've been thinking about.
Holy crap space engineers is getting decent. I haven't played much since the bad old days before it went 1.0.

What no offerings to Klang??? I love that idea for a bridge. Does it have to have the ramp on both ends to work?

you sumon clang with this creation
but very impressive
Thanks! It does have some phantom forces sometimes, but I haven't had it explode or shake itself to pieces.
Lets see how long until someone makes something like this but as a block mod for large grids.
Has this happened before? A small grid build modded into the game as a large grid block?
@@MjuMeli Not that i can think of, but people did make single block airlocks before. And doors that extended well outside thier original block range. (Casepoint: Ramps)
How do you get small grid to be static, embedded into terrain?
It's just locked in place with landing gears. Though I wish there was the option to embed small grids into voxels as well.

I forgot to say ... awesome bridge. pretty smooth and sexy

This setup with solar panels
Solar panels ehh? Oh boy do I have a treat waiting for you tomorrow
In this game are bridges useless, beacause the water is solide.
