Flipnote studio was the app I used the most on my DSi as a child. I remember just staying up binging Hatena flipnotes, and also making my own. It was so much fun. It was sad when they shut it down. Sudomemo was cool and all, but a lot of the flipnotes were just reposts of the classics. It felt like the community was kinda blinded by nostalgia. Hatena was just something special that can't be replaced.
I definitely agree that unfortunately, I think Flipnote is a relic of the past and it was just something you had to have been there for to understand. If flipnote ever makes a return, it would be interesting to see how that pans out. Will it still feature some of the same content that older users feel nostalgic for or will there be a plethora of new content? What kind of new content would we see? It raises a lot of questions, including if it’s even viable for flipnote to make a return.
The amount of times I looked at a Flipnote in this video and remembered who it’s from omg I love looking back in these retrospectives, its like a time capsule into what our culture was like in the late 2000’s/early 2010’s that has remained untouched
Every once in a while I would get heavily nostalgic for flipnote studio. I've made many friends in sudomemo and it was a community I was heavily a part of.
Usually when I watch one of these nostalgia videos the "list of nostalgic things" at the beginning of the video there's a few they list that I didn't experience, but every single thing you listed was in my childhood!
Flipnote Hatena was apart of my childhood for the fun little thing I could go to every day, I thought it was a fun way to pass the time in my days when I didn't get to play Little Big Planet on my Dads PS3, or if nothing sounded fun on my GameCube
I was so sad when Hatena shut down. I remember the vibrant communities and the wonderful people I looked up to and became friends with. I still make flipnotes on my Dsi, it's what gave me the motivation to animate and draw as a child.

No way I tried the old archive and searched my username and my old flipnotes I made when I was young showed up. Idk wether to feel grateful for the memories or embarrassment from how bad my animations where LOL.
I could've sworn ive seen people use a green color on certain flip notes. It was a rare sight to behold. I never knew how it was possible to have that color.
This was my home when i was a kid, and still sticks to me to this day. Its what keeps my interest in animation to this day.
