Tbh when it comes to Moe a lot of people mention him being somewhat charming or charismatic and that’s why he’s a popular childhood crush but I dare to say that I think Moe gives off impeccable himbo energy. He can’t hide for shit, but still tries and thinks he’s doing well. When discussing his favorite color orange, as referenced in this video, he can only think of one orange thing and it’s not even the fruit. He’s been seen more often as upbeat and outgoing in otherwise negative or uncomfortable situations, but I think it’s less about rebellion as it is about him just being a dumbass. Less “not like other guys” energy, more “poor little meow meow” vibes, personally.
i knew someone in high school who was one of the kids in the "don't pull the rope" segment in one episode and i was more impressed by that than he was lmao also you did a great job with that orange makeup, it's blended really well!
If you like photo puppetry a lot, then you should do a lore on the Disney show Fish Hooks! They use photo puppetry A LOT and it’s honestly imo the second best usage of it I’ve seen since Wonder Pets. Plus, the show is incredibly funny and has a ton of great characters.
the doodlebops were my obsession as a young child (I was probably 4-6) and my parents managed to find a live show near us to take me to see, and my mom made me a deedee costume for the previous Halloween that I wore to that as well. So glad to see this pop up in my recommended along with random episodes of the show this past month

Okay, I know it's very unlikely, but now that Athena has mentioned The Monkees very briefly, I feel like she'd have a fuckin' BLAST giving their show the Athena lore treatment-
I fell down that rabbit hole of a show too. It was so fun and silly. But of course it was a 60s show, so a good amount of stuff in that are pretty dated(and possibly a little offensive) but nothing too bad as most of the enviable race jokes in them are mostly about how other races think white American and British people are silly.(which valid)
@moaday9952 but also there was drama behind the scenes, the tone shifted between the season, the movie Head with Jack Nickelson as one of the writers and a special that causes Peter Tork to quit
This show, Out of the Box, Bear in the Big Blue House and more really bring back so many memories. The songs are great and still catch myself singing the songs from time to time.
The Wiggles, Bear in the Big Blue House, and Sesame Street were my main favorites. But I did also grow up with the Doodlebops, Bob the Builder, Nick Jr, Playhouse Disney, etc.
They were my first concert, I got up front and Moe grazed his hand over us and I got to touch it. I was SCREAMING “Moe touched me!! Moe touched my hand!!” So funny
Maaaaan hearing you say "Playhouse Disney" really gave me nostalgia. I was a Canadian child in the 2000s and have distinct memories of the doodlebops. I love when folks cover Canadian TV shows. Other kids cartoons worth going into lore may be George Shrinks, or Bear and the Big Blue House. Both classics of my childhood. I can't believe I'm 20 😅
I remember being OBSESSED with this show when I was young but i don't think my child brain understood what was going on half the time Still remember the theme though
I use to hate the theme since I was above the age demographic, but the bus song kinda made me laugh because of how slowly the bus folded itself out of existence.
The amount of headcanons I have after seeing this is unbeatable. Moe was the awakening of my interest in men tbh, but that aside I really loved the video and also thankful that you mentioned that the show is not on Disney+
I used to be so afraid of this show when I was super young, but I wouldn’t turn it off. I would hide underneath blankets and furniture until it would go away.
The reason that chicken puppet is so eerie is because it has front facing eyes, which predators have- unlike like, deer for example who have eyes on the side of their head because their prey. (Just thought to add that lol)

I always thought the doodlebops just painted themselves like the band KISS, but now seeing the cartoon with other colorful humans has my questioning everything
I didn’t remember watching this show in the slightest… until you mentioned the running gag with moe and the falling water. That somehow sparked a memory for me.
Please do Octonauts! It’s an animated British TV series about animals discovering sealife and I think it would be the perfect show to do a lore episode on
This show had such an impact on me that I made Deedee Rooney and Moe my imaginary friends, and I would excitedly point beside me when watching going “look! that’s you!” as if my imaginary doodlebops were delighted to see themselves on tv. good times
Im not even joking, I had a nightmare about the doodlebops years after i stopped watching. Rooni tried to kidnap my mom and turn her into a doodlebop. Didi was helping me try to stop him from turning my mom blue. I dont fully remember what Mo was up to, like some moments he was trying to help capture my mom, and other times he was helping us escape... I was forever scarred. I remember the bus song but no memory of the vus or the driver
Rewatching a Max and Ruby DVD for nostalgia was a massive mistake. Because you know what I flipping realized? MAX'S TOYS ARE SENTIENT AND POSSIBLY ALIVE! Hear me out. There were several incidents in that DVD where Max's tots did conveniently just what he wanted or intended even when not specifically said or moved by him, sometimes even seeming to act on their own accord. Something I originally said "Kinda weird, but probably just cartoon logic in a show for preschoolers. I can suspend my disbelief-" First segment of the second episode on that DVD, "Ruby's Loose Tooth". Max grabs his red lobster toy and winds it up. Leans down to where its ears would be if it wasn't a lobster and gives it instructions to get the muffins off the kitchen table and IT. FLIPPING. LISTENS AND FOLLOWS THOSE INSTRUCTIONS (also how did it climb up the table? I can't help myself, I have to ask)! Segment right after that, "Ruby Scores", his robot toys not only move after getting knocked out of the wagon WITHOUT GETTING WOUND UP, then the ear splitter space cadet activates its sound when it was previously silent at just the right time to throw Roger off, THEN IT FLIPPING YELLED INCOMING WHEN THE SOCCER BALL WAS ABOUT TO HIT IT! It's not just season 3 episodes onward. These eerie and seemingly sentient incidents were in the earlier episodes too and I'm losing my mind! NINETEEN YEARS! I NEVER SAW THIS IN THE NINETEEN YEARS I'VE BEEN ALIVE! I feel like part of my soul has left my body. Had to get all this off my chest. I physically couldn't focus on anything else since this hit me and my weekend's too jam-packed with work for me to do that.
I watched Max and Ruby a few times as an older teen, as I was babysitting younger kids. I can tell you that shit was crazy. I was like wait.. what? what just happened?
I wasn't allowed to watch Doodlebops when I was a kid because my parents hated it, but I would sneak-watch it in hotels and stuff. I simped HARD for Rooney in those days and...yeah, he's cute for a weird kids show character.
Let’s be honest, EVERYONE had a crush on Mo, and it’s justified. I love the lore review, and I honestly can’t believe they’re classified as “humans”. Two shows I think you’d have fun with are “The Fresh Beat Band” and “The Upside Down Show”. For some reason, watching this reminded me of them.
This show brought back many suppressed childhood memories because my little sister was obsessed with it as a kid! The songs were also so annoyingly earwormy that I remember getting so annoyed with this show every time she watched it! My family still owns a DVD of it, and my little sister isn't able to live down her childhood obsession with it and gets embarrassed every time it is mentioned!
Just got back from seeing the Barbie movie and am filled with nostalgia and existential dread, so of course an Athena upload is perfect to match my mood. 😂💕

I rewatched some of it after i heard you were gonna make this video. I was surprised to find that i still enjoy it to this day. The songs are good and the characters are fun.
Do I have the doodlebops to blame for my love of fictional himbos? /hj
I loooove Rooney
@@mrh8142probably
Heyy fellow Rooney fan! I feel like there's going to be a split between the Rooney fans and the Moe fans lol
Nah just thought he was good break dancer 😅
i knew someone in high school who was one of the kids in the "don't pull the rope" segment in one episode and i was more impressed by that than he was lmao
also you did a great job with that orange makeup, it's blended really well!
Romance girl..
Imagine filming this show in front of people. Idk i couldnt i applaud them so much
This is how i feel about the freshbeat band. Like i love kids media specifically animation but whenever its live action with adult actors its so hard for me to wrap my head around like
I feel so validated knowing other people liked Moe. I thought I was weird and never told anyone how I felt. Maybe it's weirder now that I'm an adult 🤷♀️
I honestly always felt that people liked him , I never knew someone that didn't like moe .
Ikr even I had a crush on moe! lol
@@darkstrifequeen1458 me too lol off topic but moe gave me freaky bride of Chucky vibes lol the freaky guy that was in the bed with Tiffany lol but that made me like him even more 😂😂
@@darkstrifequeen1458 right?! I had a crush on Moe and Rooney.
I had a crush on DD due to me going through puberty at the time.
You should totally make a video on the Imagination Movers! I remember loving that show as a kid and it was super wacky. I think you might enjoy looking into it! Love you videos!!! :)
That show was amazing
Memory unlocked lol
OH MY GOD I REMEMBER THAT
Okay, I know it's very unlikely, but now that Athena has mentioned The Monkees very briefly, I feel like she'd have a fuckin' BLAST giving their show the Athena lore treatment-
I am all for this!!!!!
Dude when she brought up the Monkees I literally went "Yoooo!", and then when she compared them to Big Time Rush I went "Yoooooooooo!!!!!"
I WILL LOVE THIS ONE
Those were my showsss
rollie pollie Ollie and PB&J otter
Agh yes!! Those 3 you mentioned were easily my favourites
@@hikinghaani4213mine were read between the lions , George shrinks , Bernstein bears and as well as the ones listed above
Imagination movers is a good one too you may wanna look into. It was another Disney show I saw growing up.
Bruh playhouse Disney, toondisney and jetex where my lifeeeeeeee.
id love to see a lore vid on toopy and binoo tbh
same
@@ZvwryjetX was the god of cartoons imo
I remember being OBSESSED with this show when I was young but i don't think my child brain understood what was going on half the time
Still remember the theme though
Same
I use to hate the theme since I was above the age demographic, but the bus song kinda made me laugh because of how slowly the bus folded itself out of existence.
The amount of headcanons I have after seeing this is unbeatable.
Moe was the awakening of my interest in men tbh, but that aside I really loved the video and also thankful that you mentioned that the show is not on Disney+
Are you suggesting this show made you gay?
@@dontgetmarried I’m a afab, but tbh I think I’m bi
I used to be so afraid of this show when I was super young, but I wouldn’t turn it off. I would hide underneath blankets and furniture until it would go away.
Same 😂😂
It's the damm moose that used to be freaky for me
The reason that chicken puppet is so eerie is because it has front facing eyes, which predators have- unlike like, deer for example who have eyes on the side of their head because their prey. (Just thought to add that lol)
Also because real chickens have eyes on the side lmao
@@MartianCandies yeah, that’s what I was trying to get at lol, I have chickens, super friendly lol, just described it odd.
@@cyruscunningham1075 oh my godddd that's so coolll!!! Id love to have some pet chickies!! When you go out to see them again please give them some good treats and pets if they like them for me, I bet they're so cute and nice to keep (,',': I love their eyes and their faces and beaks they're just so coolll
I remember watching Doodlebops with my niece (along with a lot of children’s shows) and becoming so used to the songs, I ended up burning a CD with the songs and secretly listening to them 😂 made me want to pursue becoming a children’s book illustrator, I adored kids media so much!
I always thought the doodlebops just painted themselves like the band KISS, but now seeing the cartoon with other colorful humans has my questioning everything
I thought I was the only one who was reminded of KISS when I first saw them.
@@okjeffy6581 we are on the same brainwave brother 😝
Same and only knew of KISS as a famous band in some scooby doo movies
I think the best part of this video is that you flawlessly recited the Doodlebop Pledge. Rehearsed or not, it was flawless
Hey Athena, if I were to suggest 2 shows to cover, I recommend The Electric Company (reboot) and Cyberchase, those shows were part of my childhood.
Yes I loved those shows!
Omg The Electric Company was so good
We talking the original or the reboot? I mainly grew up with the reboot but my mom showed me some of the original.
@@princesparkleface8635 the reboot
YEEESSS, CYBERCHASE WAS MY JAM!!!! :3!!!
0:09, Oh come on!
That was a funny joke.
Some people just don't have a Sense of Humor.
Love how evertime Athena makes on of these lore videos she unlocks deep childhood memories I had long forgotten.
Romance girl,,
I didn’t remember watching this show in the slightest… until you mentioned the running gag with moe and the falling water. That somehow sparked a memory for me.
YES FINALLY!!! I have been waiting for someone to cover the lore of the doodlebops
I was the kid that always asked "Where's Moe?!" and "Don't pull the rope Moe!"😂❤
Romance girl,
Please do Octonauts! It’s an animated British TV series about animals discovering sealife and I think it would be the perfect show to do a lore episode on
This show had such an impact on me that I made Deedee Rooney and Moe my imaginary friends, and I would excitedly point beside me when watching going “look! that’s you!” as if my imaginary doodlebops were delighted to see themselves on tv. good times
Romance girl
That’s really sweet.
0:04 I think I love your makeover
Im not even joking, I had a nightmare about the doodlebops years after i stopped watching. Rooni tried to kidnap my mom and turn her into a doodlebop. Didi was helping me try to stop him from turning my mom blue. I dont fully remember what Mo was up to, like some moments he was trying to help capture my mom, and other times he was helping us escape... I was forever scarred. I remember the bus song but no memory of the vus or the driver
My sister and I were scared of the Doodlebops and one time she had a nightmare where Mo killed me, honestly he still unsettles me lol

Me too!!!! The doodlebops were trying to get my mom to be against me and leave the family.

The outfit is giving Sunset Shimmer
With a biker jacket and bacon hair, she could nail it.
The skin tone is already spot-on.
I can suspend my disbelief-"
First segment of the second episode on that DVD, "Ruby's Loose Tooth".
I saw the DoodleBops live as a kid and I absolutely loved it. I rewatched the entire show during my first year of college to help me through finals
I never heard of Doodlebops until now, but this was an amazing video
Best wishes to the actor for Moe
I wasn't allowed to watch Doodlebops when I was a kid because my parents hated it, but I would sneak-watch it in hotels and stuff. I simped HARD for Rooney in those days and...yeah, he's cute for a weird kids show character.
Another video of Athena resurrecting my childhood memories of old shows
Can you do an imagination movers lore, they all look like literal stoners
Four flavors: Country Western, Shaggy, Geek Squad, and the otherwise Well-Adjusted one.
the doodlebops are low-key the reason ive been into music my whole life and literally making my own now.
Same!
I literally never met someone else who watched 'The Upside Down Show' :000
YESS!!
the upside down show was everything!!!
Omg yes the upside down show
Fresh Beat Band for sure
This show brought back many suppressed childhood memories because my little sister was obsessed with it as a kid! The songs were also so annoyingly earwormy that I remember getting so annoyed with this show every time she watched it! My family still owns a DVD of it, and my little sister isn't able to live down her childhood obsession with it and gets embarrassed every time it is mentioned!
i hope you send her this video lol
You speak with a lot of exclamation points.
Gah. Nostalgia. My only weakness.
I DEFINITELY used to watch this show as a kid before going to elementary school. The good vibes are rolling
Love that u used "BYRON!!!!" at the Glizzie stand
Just got back from seeing the Barbie movie and am filled with nostalgia and existential dread, so of course an Athena upload is perfect to match my mood. 😂💕
Look, if you really want an obscure children’s band that got on American TV, look into the Hi-5.
Yes I remember Hi-5! There was the original Australian Hi-5 and the Hi-5 American version. I remember watching the American version on the channel The Hub.
Silly Weirdo Fact about me: When my son was little, he watched this show. I developed a little crush on Bus Driver Bob. Why? I don't know...(I still think he is pretty cute.)
The actor who portrayed Bob had a food show too. I always watched it.😂
Romance girl
please bless us with The Upside Down Show, i was and still am obsessed with this show. it might be my 'tism but ITS SO GOOD, THE SOCK SKIT WHERE A PAIR GETS SPLIT UP AND THE ICECREAM TRUCK AAAAAAA
Dude, the upside down show was so awesome. One of my favorites besides original blues clues as a kid.
@@Sand-Walker13 the two hosts are still comedians! still together too! and they just started uploading the episodes to youtube for us old fans
I don’t remember watching this show as a kid but for some reason the chicken using colored eggs to communicate just dug into a nerve in my brain, like I have no memory of anything else but that one scene is burned into my memory
I rewatched some of it after i heard you were gonna make this video. I was surprised to find that i still enjoy it to this day. The songs are good and the characters are fun. Moe's my favorite, of course. He's funny and um pretty. I may like him a little too much. *cough* (I'm ace, i swear. I just think he's pretty.) Anyway, great show. Btw you could also do a video about Yo Gabba Gabba. My little cousin was obsessed with that show. It drove me insane.

She has an insane laugh
This shows feels like something that could come out of the depths of CBBC.
Yeah, cbbc and citv can be a wild place for kids shows
10:20 "The accident." CAUGHT ME SO OFF GUARD 😭
I vote for fresh beat band eventually!
Hi, 7:20 I don't think Bus Driver Bob is just - a - God but THE God that goes on to create the universe of Robots (2005).
