      Depends which one you get. If I were to get a Cruze I’d stick with a 1.6 Turbo. I got mine to 240,000 with no issues. Unfortunately it was written off as some guy hit me from behind at 70km an hour as he was on his phone in stop and start traffic.

    Thank you for talking about the RIDE which so many frigging car reviewers ignore when it is a really important aspect of buying a car. Especially on Australia's mostly appalling pot-holed roads although the ones in this video looked nice and smooth,

    I own and love my Holden Cruze SRi 1.6 auto as it is fun to drive as an everyday car.
    The only criticism I have is the major security risk that the Holden Cruze has built into the car.
    For some reason, Holden believe that it should be compulsory to advertise your car's position to potential 'car hijackers' when you want to use your car and then provide excellent lighting to make the 'Hijackers' know exactly many people are getting into your car.
    Auto head lights like auto windscreen wipers should be an option, not a compulsory function.

    I own and love my Holden Cruze SRi 1.6 auto hatch and has been great fun to drive as a daily work horse. As the Cruze has a sporty feel when accelerating, it's difficult to drive quietly. ha-ha
    Despite my aggressive driving style, I still reasonable fuel economy (ave around 10/ per 100km urban driving)

    So 2016 Runout Cruze or 2017 New Astra?

    • @drewqqq
      @drewqqq 8 років тому +2

      I've driven both (although I'm no expert). The Cruze, particularly the SRi, has a much more sporty/heavy feel to the pedals and steering, and drives more like a small commodore. The dash layout and with all the buttons is ridiculous, and the tech definitely feels a generation older. And those looks.....
      The Astra on the other hand is a much more refined car. The "European built" marketing is actually true. Lighter steering and pedal inputs are less engaging, but the cabin is a much more enjoyable place to be. Everything you touch feels very high quality - however I was driving the top of the range RS-V.
      I like a sporty driving car, but personally I would still get the Astra. Just a much nicer place to be.

      It gets heated seats, auto climate control, reverse camera and sensors, satellite navigation, push button start, auto headlights and keyless entry. Doesn't have all the latest safety technology, but neither does the latest Toyota Corolla, which is a brand the can afford to splash some cash on the small car.

    Well well. How interesting. I have no particular interest in watching a review of the Holden Cruze, other than this: Everyone and I mean everyone who is apprised about current cars in Australia knows that the Cruze is an absolute shit box of a car. Every car magazine review absolutely pummels it. But you guys think it's good. And that's why I watched this review, I wanted to see how you stack up as reviewers. You have no credilbilty whatsoever, and I can't unsubscribe any quicker, can't trust your reviews sorry to say.

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  8 років тому +7

      +Karl P - so you've driven it then Karl? Great way to have a balanced opinion there. We never say it's the greatest, but is a good little car and very good value. The 1.6 turbo is a fun and willing engine. You get a long warranty, good support and it can pull long miles in comfort. It's old, awkward looking and not as efficient as newer cars - but it's not being built any more so that will never change. In runout it makes a strong value argument. Seems pretty balanced and fair to us.

    • @super_slav91
      @super_slav91 8 років тому +2

      Should have mentioned that the long warranty will come in handy as it will spend more than 50% of it's life on the hoist.
