In this video we try to out drive my buddy in his 540 whp C6 Z06 with my 224 whp GR86 at Homestead on his first track day. #gr86 #trackcar #z06 #homestead #hpde
It’s hard, because I’m faster in the corner and he’s way faster than me on the straight. I would have to underdrive the car for a while for him to learn of line, but to be fair was both our first times.
That GR86 is pretty quick but wouldn't be able to compete with a track focused C6 Z06. The biggest difference is driver skill, SloJoe has much to learn but has a very very capable car for the job. Your GR86 just needs a little boost added to the mix to compete. Nice vid bud, I enjoyed watching both channels and look forward to more.
Dude lol that guy in the c6 was way off line, like terrible smh. You were rippin the brz and can actually drive. Your friend should let you have a go in his z06 and you'll understand these cars are in a completely different class
The c6 z06 with a good coilover and proper corner balance is capable 👌 u will be impressed at how it hugs the road. Yes it will make u feel un easy at first but once u break through you will find a whole other dimension of grip like wtf type.
Nope... 2023 Subaru BRZ (brake/tire upgrade), 3:09.3 Fast of the twins and notice the upgraded brakes and tires 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, 2:53.5 Stock and on a lessor tire compared to ultra high performance summer tires.
So the take away is; the faster CAR will always "be faster-able". And the person behind the wheel just brings that out or not, with a venn-diagram of grip x car x track type determining the outcome within predictable circumstances. This means that the Corvette is NOT some bonky muscle car like a dodge demon, it's a well-made well suspension and balanced machine with lots of handling baked into it. That just also happens to weigh a lot and be slightly less balanced than an 86 due to speed differential. I feel like a corvette with the same acceleration but much less top speed (say... 25mph higher than the highest average cornering speed at that track. LOL) and weighing 500lbs less would be much much faster around a track like this. Less speed to cook off in hard braking (much less chance to overcook a corner), much more wide open throttle and momentum carrying, and much closer averages. But then I guess that's true for every single car
It was just fascinating to see how close they were but two completely different cars. Next time we meet that should be on Sebring which I’m pretty good at and we will see how the Corvette does.
@@phelpsgarage4202 The "yo-yo" effect experienced here is something that plays out every single time on track. Not even just between a rookie in a rocket and a skilled driver in a miata. even between professionals. Best motoring highlights this occurrence every year as they test cars around tsukuba and fuji speedway with glaring differences on paper almost never reflecting on short tracks. (200hp civics destroying 500hp Evos). It's easy to make the paper correct on an oval though.. lol
@@twrcrew8852 The C6 Z06 needs a new driver … Put the same driver in both cars but an experienced driver & the C6Z would leave the Toyota dimensions behind
As another commenter pointed out, this track has a lot of long straights that favor the vette's power. I would think on a more technical track the time difference between the two cars (and drivers) would be larger than .5 secs. Power is great, but there is no substitute for less weight.
I’ll be at Sebring tomorrow with the same Z06. Sebring has more turns to straight ratio, but the straights are even longer, but I know the track better, so I’m hoping I can hold my ground
@@phelpsgarage4202 True. You have got to help him with hand placement... he is asking for major trouble if he doesn't correct this problem. Best of luck and stay safe out on track.
Keeping up with a vette IS possible! If the driver doesn't know the real limit of the vette 😅 I'm sure that time will be beaten real quick with just some practice cornering. Aero is so amazing🥲 and yet I can't afford to spend 3 grand on a decent wing. Imma just get myself a noble swan neck wing til I can afford it😔 lol

That vette should be following you to learn the proper driving line. Sheeesh😅

Vette driver is not good. My mom can do better
Had a 2013 FRS. Now own a C6 Z06. The GR86 has come a long way. The way you've yours set up looks WAY better than a Supra.
Thank you!!
So much fun and even more to learn! That Z06 is coming for you!
I know you are 😅… if I can’t beat you, I’ll just join you Z06 💥
Thank you 🙏🏻 for the shoutout!! Had a blast out there!!
Thank you for showing us the way!

Awesome video. Would love to see more of these. I subscribed. Keep it up!

Thats awsome 🚗💥💨🔥
I think it's a good realistic comparaison. It proove that seat time is a very big factor and it's not all about the power.

I’m excited to see where my buddy takes this Z06

So close! Hoosier next!
Lol!
Who was driving the Corvette your grandma?
😂
have you thought about putting a supercharger on the brz ? when it blows up, LS swap it. it will be a machine !
I want the easy way to get 100 hp. So supercharging it would be the cheapest easiest option for that… so yes I think about supercharging it lol
any oiling upgrades?
Tomei baffles plate, oil cooler, and 5w-40 with a over fill
All depends on the track. Turn to straight ratio
I think the 86 would have a better chance on a technical track like VIR. Homestead has waay too many straights 😂
I think I could have a better chance at Sebring with 17 turns
