Where do you think the Americans and all western militaries get their SF foundation's? British and Canadian forces are unrivaled in our effectiveness. We chose to specialize our militaries and get alot more punch for what we whatbwe spend.

These guys are classed pretty much as special forces, most UK special forces use different weapons for different tasks they very rarely use SA80 usually USA M4 variants or Canadian Colt C8 variants.
The UK needs a dedicated Regimental / Battalion sized Surveillance and Reconnaissance Exploitation Commando Force. Akin to the size of the SBS / SAS, for example. 👍
Canadians definitely do beat SAS. CSIS is really no comparison to MI6 though. Canadian CSOR are on about equal footing with the SAS. JTF2 is the only SF team in the world to never suffer a casualty.

One small spotter aircraft and they could be pinpointed for artillery attacks or counter recon. If you are close enough to be spotted by a small personnel drone you could just as easily be spotted by a sniper in a tree or building.

Special Air Service are land, sea and air, their name is a legacy relic going back to the second world war. Special Boat Service are supposed to be primarily sea/amphibious but the 2 overlap on most things these days. SBS can and do run around the desert and jungle simply because of that 90% overlap and they're often available. Special Reconnaissance Regiment were "sort of" supposed to undertake a specialism that would free up the SAS for other mission profiles and whilst they have facilitated that quite considerably, all 3 still conduct reconnaissance anyway but the types and ratios have been tweaked if you will. As someone else has said SRS isn't 'special forces' but they're basically special in practical terms, the UK has a lot of teams and groups that are for all intents and purposes special forces but aren't technically defined as such on paper. Pathfinder Platoon is always a good example of this.
Hmm they could probably have done with a bit of reconnaissance at the beginning of the first Iraq war when the SAS landed behind enemy lines and someone forgot to ask about the weather and remind everyone that you can't make a dugout when the terrain is rock. Let's hope they've found Google in the meantime. 😉

When you say they are different, that means to me they are NOT human, that means they are made of STEEL, ELECTRONICS, POLYCARBONATE. So if they are NOT made of STEEL. Then, they are ALL the same like the rest of us.

Both because of early reliability issues and the ergonomics. L85 is a heavy rifle, so the accuracy isn't worth carrying an extra kilo
