My Dad was a Royal Marine Commando. He died in 2013. What an honour to be his son. Thank you Dad. Thank you The Royal Navy Marine Commandos.
I thank your father for his service, he served apart of the most elite premiere fighting force in the world. You should be very proud. May he rest easy.
@@rcm8450 There is such thing as Royal Navy Commandos. These are men who are serving in the Royal Navy and have been through the Commando tests. The same way you can get British Army Commandos. Perhaps the bloke above just got his wording wrong.
I'll go back
Proud to be British.🇬🇧
💂🇬🇧 rule britianna 🌎. Iv always been something of an anglophile. I love James bond, Tolkien, the beatles, the British empire, the queen, the Royal navy, monty python, churchhill, t.e. Lawrence, Shakespeare, Hitchcock,
So you voted for the Brexit?
I was discharged from British army training recently I was told I can reapply in 2 years wether that he for the army or a different branch. The Royal Marines are something different like next level different. I’m gonna use this 2 years to work for this opportunity. 💪
Good luck.
Be a success story mate
Use these 2 years to turn yourself into a phenomena, not just a guy who got discharged and came back.
When you're sitting with your recruiter/file manager in 1.5-2 years from now...be the guy that leaves them beyond impressed with how far you've driven your life in that time frame
One mindset 'trick' that turned into just being a full time mindset change for me, years ago when I was in, was the mindset of "mentally being what my goal is" - not "I'm so & so, and trying to achieve this goal..."
That changed a lot for me in what I was able to achieve, just that change in mindset
Best of luck mate 🇨🇦 🇬🇧
@Chris Burke plot twist he ends up joining UKSF
@@Frost_actual Let's hope so!
Chris has definitely hit the nail on the head. Do what you can to really stand out to recruitment 👍
I live in RM country and, each year, people struggle massively with the shore landings during training (getting off a vessel and swimming/wading to shore whilst laden down with kit). As well as fitness, make sure your swimming is second to none, that you're comfortable in rough seas, and prepare yourself for swimming whilst laden down with kit (with support, obviously - keep yourself safe!). Sinking sand catches people out all the time (& it's unavoidable with tidal sand shifts), so don't rely on wading. I understand that they also look favourably on diving experience, so if you can get that, do it.
It's definitely worth having a chat with RM careers. They run visits and orientations to various sites so that you can get an idea of the road ahead. Being ex-Army, you'll be familiar with a lot of it, but if you have RM-specific questions, orientations are a good place/time to ask the lads directly and get your questions answered honestly, rather than the typical "what you want to hear" careers office answers.
I wish you all the very best. Hopefully we'll see you in deepest, darkest Devon soon, getting your green lid 😎
The RN / RM have an outstanding filming unit.
If this doesn’t make people proud or want to join the RM, then there’s something wrong with you.
Simply epic. 👊🇬🇧

Knowing that the SAS and SBS are even more elite is impressive
Did you miss that there was an SBS guy in the video?
Credit where credit is due, that is an outstanding video.
This will pay dividends in recruiting.
The Army need to take notice of this, they need to stop with the politically correct wishy washy stuff it’s pathetic.
Fair play to the marines for this.

2nd Fusilier here, can confirm.
The army’s latest video on their insta is pretty well produced. No speaking in it, mind. But pretty good
The Army have proved from the utter tosh that they were putting out. Praying in the middle of a mission... just... ughhh.

There's multiple wars, so which one?
@@riahbaek "the war" most likely ww2
He cud hav been OSS
In the UK, it's generally accepted that "the war" refers to WWII. If you want to refer to a different one, you name it, but "the war" was used in the decades following WWII and, as no other hot conflict has beaten it size-wise, WWII still keeps "the" title.
Hope that clears up any confusion 👍

RMs are the truth! Greetings from America
42 commando are based here in my home city/port of Plymouth along with the Royal Navy.
3 commando brigade H.Q. Royal Marines are based here.
Since ww2 British Marines have the commando role since it transferred from the army although there are still army commandos trained by the Marines. Again here in Plymouth we have an army unit called 29 commando Royal Artillery.
@@chrisholland7367 Aren’t the SAS and SBS considered to be commandos as well?
@@TheCerebralDude yes you could describe both of those S.F. units as commandos.
But U.K. special forces recruit from elte units such as the Royal Marines or the British Army's Parachute Regiment. Although S.F.selection is open to all branches of the British military. The Royal Marines have one of longest selection process in the world 32 weeks for a recruit to Royal Marine likewise a Marines officer officer will under go 64 weeks of training before they are deemed good enough to take command.
There is no separate school or academy for potential officers. Unlike their counterparts in the Navy, R.A.F.and the Army.
Marines officers will do their training at the same establishment as the recruits .
When you say an R.M. or other member of British forces going on selection for S.F. you already have a trained soldier so if that candidate is successful in selection especially from the two elite units I've mentioned you've have a an individual with an incredible skill set at sea and land who will capable of undertaking almost anything put in front of them.
My nephew is 42 Commando. So proud of him

the british army adverts "we don't do beach body's" royal marines video "were going to siege a Container ship full of pirates"
“It’s okay to cry”
and the roman legionaries "we will exterminate all the britons dogs"
Goddamn! That was 11 minutes of pure brilliance!
US Infantry Marine here. Hats off to the production quality here showing the raw reality of this kind of work. We tend to make our PR (recruiting) videos look like friggin' video games or some woke shit. I had the honor of training with Royal Marines in Norway and they are solid. US Marines are structured differently with specialized units in the fleet but overall way too bloated and conventional. I wish we'd scale down and remodel similar to RMs.
Is that bloat you refer to in the USMC a factor of the size and budget, both things that the RMs have never had the luxury to worry about. ?
Yes, the US Marines are more like a conventional army. First into the fight every time though. The Royal Marines are very highly trained and very few in comparison. Each has a different contribution to make. Whereas, for instance, the Royal Marines would knock out key points in a harbour or an air base, US Marines would destroy or capture the whole thing with overwhelming force. Horses for courses.
At 56 years of age, and 30 years of Policing behind me, if I was given the chance of a rerun, well there is nothing to think about. Inspirational viewing.
You get a much better pension then us, pour yourself a glass of expensive wine and be happy you survived 30yrs of policing!

The production on these just gets better and better lads.

This must be a very exciting specialist role for lads within 4-2 and RM in general to be part of. I think specialist boarding and counter narcotics roles have been the responsibility of 4-2 previously, however, some of the added tasks as depicted in this presentation may have been the responsibility of SF (SBS or SAS Boat Troop) until fairly recently prior to the development of UKSF Support units such as UKSFSG. Some of the lads shown here with concealed facial shots may well have been SBS Operators. I hope many of the guys who conduct these types of operations do take that next obvious step to SF. Lastly, the new development of `Gravity`s` new `jet pack` flying suit will undoubtedly play a large role in the military, especially with SF teams on various tasks, especially for Maritime CT and will make boarding a vessel much, much easier! Great video! Garry H, South Carolina, RAF retired.
SBS training is far more specialized and as such there simply would not be enough operational members to perform to the scale of the UK forces as a whole.
There is overlap between Commando's and Special Forces and in many cases they will do a similar task based on what is available in a particular environment.
SFSG is not some independent team that is higher ranked that Royal Marine Commandos it is a force that acts in a support capacity to Special Forces and they have additional training to allow them to act as that support group. What Britain really needs is special operations to cover all the elite services and probably to make new forces as well which are suitable for particular needs.
Excellent well made video

Amazing !
If I was still at sea, I would sleep soundly in my bunk; knowing these 'Lads' were on the job. No more Defence cuts, our armed forces are the best in the world and need supporting accordingly.
Supporting to do what exactly? Fight for America? Do you understand that we are currently one of the biggest military spenders in the world, number 2 in NATO, all this despite the fact that the UK is in a very safe geographical position, far removed from conflict and enemy powers unlike countries that spend similar GDP % on military like Finland, Poland, Turkey. The policy you support is an aspect of American suzerainty over the UK. We need to scale back spending to the appropriate level to defend just the UK and it's possessions, retain our nuclear capabilities to safeguard against unlikely existential threats, stop contributing so much to NATO strength, stop sending British soldiers to die thousands of miles away for "British values".
STOP SUPPORTING AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY OBJECTIVES.
Awesome production more please
