But you skipped the wheels! That's the first thing that stands out to me on your car! The contrast with the orange is brilliant and these are the best stock M wheels I've seen in BMWs line up, hands down. These beauts deserve a shout-out!

Hi Nick. Great review and great car. I have a 997 Carrera 2, manual, no electronic suspension, no frills. It kinda reminds me of my E30 M3 EVO I owned while living in the UK in the naughty 80's :-). Love the M cars as well. I live in Queenstown back home in NZ, so the driving roads are fairly close to heaven here. Keep up the great work.

I drive a 2013 Cooper S, which I guess is the little LITTLE brother to the M4. When I picked it up in the spring there was an M235i in the BMW showroom. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on that model too. I've got to say though, I would have been pissed at the dealer for not prepping the M4 properly. There's no way your car should have left the lot with the airbag issue, and BMW (among others) charges a fortune for PDI. When I picked up my MINI the car was missing a JACK and wrench!
The more I see the car the more I love the color. I love the look of the 19" and LED headlights so much more than the base look. Any plans to tint the windows btw? I love the look the car has with its windows tinted haha

Watch the dye transfer from your jeans on the white/light interior. I have the same interior on my car and have found, especially with darker jeans, you can see staining. Love my 2014 M4 and picked it up un Munich (it is on the water and I am impatiently waiting for it to arrive in the States). Nice video series. Cheers
Great video again Nick! :) Beautiful looking car! I love the color. I hope BMW is smart enough to offer the M-cars with AWD (xDrive in BMW's case) as an option in the nearby future. With the ever increasing torque, I think it makes the car nicer and safer to drive in winter- and/or wet conditions. If this M4 was available with AWD, it would almost certainly be my next car. one car for all purposes, instead of two... Porsche proves with the C4S and Turbo that AWD doesn't necssarily has to ruin the handling. A 991 C4S is even more tail happy than a 991 C2S, but it's much easier to control.
You my friend, are talking complete bullshit. Just for your info: The car in your avatar has xDrive! Oh the irony.... I drive an Audi at the moment and I'm very happy with it. However, BMW has a nicer overall feel and if you drive 60.000km a year, safety is an important factor. For the so called "purists", RWD will always be available. That's why I say it would be nice if they would offer it as an option. If you've driven a Porsche 991 with AWD, then you know what I'm talking about... If you never have, then just shut up.
IMO the inline 6 with its sound is a huge part of BMW's overall heritage. Sounds much better than random V8 put into a performance model of any BMW. But yeah, only my opinion :)

Seems like about $10,000 for actual M upgrades and another 10k for M stickers or badges. No question it is a beautiful machine, though I can't help but wonder if I spent 20k upgrading a normal 435i it would be a better car except for the 'cool' factor of M badges all over. Any opinions? The M key ring being a perfect example. How insecure of a man does it take to need a fancy key ring to impress others.
Here's the deal with subscriptions: Sure, 3 dollars here or 4 dollars there isn't a lot per month. Not at all. However, these subscriptions don't exist in a vacuum. The average adult human being has quite a few recurring monthly financial obligations, and these things will gradually start to add up. I always hear people say, "Yeah, but it's only 5 bucks. That's less than a good cheeseburger." You're right, the problem of course, is there's a couple dozen other people trying to get 5 bucks from me as well.
I really like your videos. Just an idea: in the last video you had mixed content: Q&A and M4 options. Some of us really like your Q&A videos. I know you can't make M4 video every day, or every other day, but in the meantime you can just add simple Q&A vid. :) Also, is there a chance to make a video dedicated to radar/laser detector+jammer? (location of the unit, display, and specicificaly jammers, the way they are mounted to a bumper, etc.). Thanks! ;)

Remote Services? That's probably the Google maps send to car option, which I find very useful. As well as the My BMW app that shows you where your car is on your phone.

Thanks for the really informative videos, you really explain everything very well, and it really helps me, as im sure countless other, understand the points you discuss about your cars and things. I just had a question I hope you don't mind answering, I live in NJ and wanted to get a laser jammer installed on my Tesla P85+, but wasn't sure if this is entirely legal. I have heard that "radar jammers" are illegal but you can still get in trouble for the "laser jammers." Have you heard/know about this? I already have a radar detector installed but that only tells me that a cop saw me going however fast i was haha. And great choice on the M4 color combo, truly looks great. I was leaning on towards the red on the M3 but may go for it on the M4 after seeing yours! Should head down to the dealer sometime this week to put down an order. And I love the long vids! dhruvad911 Virginia and DC are the only two states that radar detectors are illegal. There are 12 states that have made laser jamming illegal NJ is not one of them. The key is to have a hidden unit like the one I have that also include radar detector anti detection equipment. So it is very hard for them to find. On another subject. I would LOVE to drive and review your P85 S. One of my favorite cars. Would that be possible??

Didn't know new cars have a delivery mode... that's interesting.... I love your car though and that colour is pretty kool. I drive an e39 530i now. Hopefully one day I can get into an M4 only with a manual box lol. I prefer this to the M3...the 2 door looks a bit more appealing to me I guess.
Hey nick .....I don't get my m4 until the end of the month...but I already ordered off Amazon for 100 dollars the carbon fiber license plate ...lol already buying stuff for a car I don't have! I also got the m black duffle bag it's a really nice cool travel bag to leave in your trunk with some stuff in it. Both the bag and plate are nice goodies for the car...you should deff look into them.....I was going to get the car in the sakhir orange but then switches to alpine white last second...but left the interior sakhir orange...and I got the same rims as you..I feel that the black ones just look dirty when the car is in motion...I don't know why everyone is getting it with the black rims besides me and you....I guess good minds think alike as I also had the m3 in interlagos. Blue.....anyways when I do get my m4 in...leave my your email and I will send a quick video or some pics of it and you can share it on your channel if you would like. Hi Nick Murray! Great video as always. I've wanted to ask you if you enjoy the quality of materials used in your M4. I'm a pretty long-time fan of BMW and plan to get one eventually (maybe an M235i or an M2). But, there are 2 things that I dislike about the new 3 and 4 series thus I want to hear your take on them. First is dashboard design, I feel like BMW has some rather cheap and boring looking dashboards throughout their models, but when you pay well over $165,000 (AUD) for an M4, you'd probably expect some finer materials being used for buttons and switches; as well as better accenting and panel design. Instead BMW likes to use cheap, black and boring plastic, even in the higher range models. The second thing I'm not a fan off is the face. Don't get me wrong, I like aggressive cars, but I think this was either overdone or underdone in this case. I like to see it from a distance, but up-close it seems to be disproportional and just plain tacky. It's probably the protruding chrome around the grill that gets my blood boiling, but I just see it as a poor design decision. But again, all people have their tastes and see the world differently, so I wonder if you can relate to my points. Do you like the interior detailing and materials? What do you think about its face? Answers are appreciated!

I do from time to time as really that is the only way to really get the most out of these cars. Still I have to be in the mood to shell out $2000 on tires because I always seem to go though a set. I am not often in that mood!
I like your detailed videos Nick! Do you miss the radar guided cruise control like you had on your 991? I think BMW doesn't offer that option on their M-models.
Rick van Beelen Yes will talk about this and some other features the M4 does not offer in my next M4 video. (no roof racks!!). The reason is the front end has no place for the laser receiver I think.

Here in Europe people say that German cars are the best (I think they arent but it's only my opinion). Today I was very surprised when YT suggested me one of your last videos of Porsche and I reminded myself about you and your car so I watched them all to be up to date. I feel sorry that a nice man like you saved money for his dream car and it turned out to be this bad. Sorry to hear that :( Please update us with the BMW which I wish to you that it won't brake up as many time as the Porsche. And I have a question. You showed us the thing to avoid laser-radars (I believe that ones used by cops) and is it legal? In my country it doesn't but it's a very nice device I think. So small that anyone can see it. Great car, took one for the test drive last week. Not too keen on the price in UK though. Your $65k in US, translates to £65k (with relevant extras) here .. e.g. 1.7x higher prive to buy it. As well, in that price range, you can get a better specified Audi RS6 ... a bit more useful in cold weather ... or in wet, which in UK is almost always the case. It definitely feels different from 911 C2S ... and it feels even different from the old M3 (as far as I remember) ...
looks like the leather is sagging a bit on the drivers seat. Interesting what it will look like after 10k miles. What is that enhanced 500$ bluetooth integration? Plays blu-rays over bluetooth? :D As i remember the basic cellphone bluetooth connectivity was standard in BMW CIC navigation pro, even with A2DP support.
Nice M4, but can't believe you've gone back to BMW from Porsche. Personally I think my 911 is much easier to drive daily than the previous M3 I had. M3 was much heavier and didn't handle nowhere near the 911. Plus the brakes had so much fade after hard braking.

Yes a few of my friend wanted me to get the black wheels but the silver wheels are quite dark as well and I just think they look cleaner. Either way I am sure it would look good.

Hi Nick, I’m wondering the prices that you mention during your video. I’m living in Belgium (35Km from the German border) and this carr is match more expensive in our country. Roughly 25% more. Is the VAT that you need to pay also included or how match do you have to pay additionally? Here in the US it is state to state how much sales tax you pay (VAT). The state I live in it is 7% but a lot of near by states it is 0% but you need to prove you live there : ) The prices I quoted do not include tax. I am glad you enjoy my videos and that you can understand me!
What are you going to do in the winter? There are no winter tires available that will fit on those wheels that I know of. It would definitely be cool to see it on some black steel wheels as small as will fit over the brakes with some thin studded rally tires. Take it up to Maine or New Hampshire and go ice racing.
Yep there are 4 different choices of snows for the M4/M3 wheels, I had them for my last M3 as well. They perform pretty well in the snow as it turns out. Lot of fun!
Many of those options are useless to me because aftermarket is always better. However is it true that fully loaded m4 has a way better resell value than near base model m4??
I wish BMW, LEXUS, MERCEDES-BENZ, AND AUDI customize their customer's cars exactly to their specifications. For example, Some might want Bang and O/ H&K, but don't want everything that comes with the executive package if those sound systems come only in that package. I know this will take a long time for all companies to reach customers' expectations and specifications, but someone should give it a try for one year.

And I really hope this car to not screw you up as the 911 did, really I do, but what I came to say is that if your car breaks, (again, not that I'm hoping it does, but just "if) you can take as a loaner and do a review of the M235i, or even the 228i with M package. Or you can just get someone to lend you one but.... If your car breaks...
Great, I haven't seen any review of the 228i but given that it is a bit lighter than the m235i it must be pretty fun too, but everybody seems to love the m235i, there must be more than enough reason to.
Nick, I just ordered the car and i DID NOT get the M adaptive suspension. I am regretting it mostly because i will have to look at a blank button all the time!! I hope it doesn't drive me crazy but i know i would hardly have changed the settings. How do you feel about the M adaptive suspension?
if you could start again with your 991 would you go for that or the m4? I have just been bitten by the porsche bug bought a 997 don't ever want to drive any other car except porsches now.

RWD is the BMW spirit. xDrive would make the M4 "impure".
Buy an Audi if you can't handle wet/snow with a RWD car.

I drive an Audi at the moment and I'm very happy with it. However, BMW has a nicer overall feel and if you drive 60.000km a year, safety is an important factor. For the so called "purists", RWD will always be available. That's why I say it would be nice if they would offer it as an option.
If you've driven a Porsche 991 with AWD, then you know what I'm talking about... If you never have, then just shut up.

IMO the inline 6 with its sound is a huge part of BMW's overall heritage. Sounds much better than random V8 put into a performance model of any BMW.

Seems like about $10,000 for actual M upgrades and another 10k for M stickers or badges. No question it is a beautiful machine, though I can't help but wonder if I spent 20k upgrading a normal 435i it would be a better car except for the 'cool' factor of M badges all over. Any opinions? The M key ring being a perfect example. How insecure of a man does it take to need a fancy key ring to impress others.
Here's the deal with subscriptions: Sure, 3 dollars here or 4 dollars there isn't a lot per month. Not at all. However, these subscriptions don't exist in a vacuum. The average adult human being has quite a few recurring monthly financial obligations, and these things will gradually start to add up. I always hear people say, "Yeah, but it's only 5 bucks. That's less than a good cheeseburger." You're right, the problem of course, is there's a couple dozen other people trying to get 5 bucks from me as well.

Remote Services? That's probably the Google maps send to car option, which I find very useful. As well as the My BMW app that shows you where your car is on your phone.

Thanks for the really informative videos, you really explain everything very well, and it really helps me, as im sure countless other, understand the points you discuss about your cars and things. I just had a question I hope you don't mind answering, I live in NJ and wanted to get a laser jammer installed on my Tesla P85+, but wasn't sure if this is entirely legal. I have heard that "radar jammers" are illegal but you can still get in trouble for the "laser jammers." Have you heard/know about this? I already have a radar detector installed but that only tells me that a cop saw me going however fast i was haha. And great choice on the M4 color combo, truly looks great. I was leaning on towards the red on the M3 but may go for it on the M4 after seeing yours! Should head down to the dealer sometime this week to put down an order. And I love the long vids! dhruvad911 Virginia and DC are the only two states that radar detectors are illegal. There are 12 states that have made laser jamming illegal NJ is not one of them. The key is to have a hidden unit like the one I have that also include radar detector anti detection equipment. So it is very hard for them to find. On another subject. I would LOVE to drive and review your P85 S. One of my favorite cars. Would that be possible??

Didn't know new cars have a delivery mode... that's interesting.... I love your car though and that colour is pretty kool. I drive an e39 530i now. Hopefully one day I can get into an M4 only with a manual box lol. I prefer this to the M3...the 2 door looks a bit more appealing to me I guess.

Hey nick .....I don't get my m4 until the end of the month...but I already ordered off Amazon for 100 dollars the carbon fiber license plate ...lol already buying stuff for a car I don't have! I also got the m black duffle bag it's a really nice cool travel bag to leave in your trunk with some stuff in it. Both the bag and plate are nice goodies for the car...you should deff look into them.....I was going to get the car in the sakhir orange but then switches to alpine white last second...but left the interior sakhir orange...and I got the same rims as you..I feel that the black ones just look dirty when the car is in motion...I don't know why everyone is getting it with the black rims besides me and you....I guess good minds think alike as I also had the m3 in interlagos. Blue.....anyways when I do get my m4 in...leave my your email and I will send a quick video or some pics of it and you can share it on your channel if you would like. I've wanted to ask you if you enjoy the quality of materials used in your M4. I'm a pretty long-time fan of BMW and plan to get one eventually (maybe an M235i or an M2). But, there are 2 things that I dislike about the new 3 and 4 series thus I want to hear your take on them.
First is dashboard design, I feel like BMW has some rather cheap and boring looking dashboards throughout their models, but when you pay well over $165,000 (AUD) for an M4, you'd probably expect some finer materials being used for buttons and switches; as well as better accenting and panel design. Instead BMW likes to use cheap, black and boring plastic, even in the higher range models.
The second thing I'm not a fan off is the face. Don't get me wrong, I like aggressive cars, but I think this was either overdone or underdone in this case. I like to see it from a distance, but up-close it seems to be disproportional and just plain tacky. It's probably the protruding chrome around the grill that gets my blood boiling, but I just see it as a poor design decision.
But again, all people have their tastes and see the world differently, so I wonder if you can relate to my points. Do you like the interior detailing and materials? What do you think about its face? Answers are appreciated!

I do from time to time as really that is the only way to really get the most out of these cars. Still I have to be in the mood to shell out $2000 on tires because I always seem to go though a set. I am not often in that mood!

Rick van Beelen Yes will talk about this and some other features the M4 does not offer in my next M4 video. (no roof racks!!). The reason is the front end has no place for the laser receiver I think.

I read in a review only which said only after the first break in service they unlock the engine to its full performance including the launch control, is that true??. thanks and looking forward to more M videos.

Great car, took one for the test drive last week. Not too keen on the price in UK though. Your $65k in US, translates to £65k (with relevant extras) here .. e.g. 1.7x higher prive to buy it. As well, in that price range, you can get a better specified Audi RS6 ... a bit more useful in cold weather ... or in wet, which in UK is almost always the case. It definitely feels different from 911 C2S ... and it feels even different from the old M3 (as far as I remember) ...
UK is a complete ripoff... I configured my desired M4 the other day and would have costed £65,000 -_- so silly with these tax laws...
You think that's bad. In Ireland you can add about another 30% (emissions based vrt) in taxes to the UK price!

looks like the leather is sagging a bit on the drivers seat. Interesting what it will look like after 10k miles. What is that enhanced 500$ bluetooth integration? Plays blu-rays over bluetooth? :D As i remember the basic cellphone bluetooth connectivity was standard in BMW CIC navigation pro, even with A2DP support.
Nice M4, but can't believe you've gone back to BMW from Porsche. Personally I think my 911 is much easier to drive daily than the previous M3 I had. M3 was much heavier and didn't handle nowhere near the 911. Plus the brakes had so much fade after hard braking.

Yes a few of my friend wanted me to get the black wheels but the silver wheels are quite dark as well and I just think they look cleaner. Either way I am sure it would look good.

Here in the US it is state to state how much sales tax you pay (VAT). The state I live in it is 7% but a lot of near by states it is 0% but you need to prove you live there : ) The prices I quoted do not include tax.

What are you going to do in the winter? There are no winter tires available that will fit on those wheels that I know of. It would definitely be cool to see it on some black steel wheels as small as will fit over the brakes with some thin studded rally tires. Take it up to Maine or New Hampshire and go ice racing.
Yep there are 4 different choices of snows for the M4/M3 wheels, I had them for my last M3 as well. They perform pretty well in the snow as it turns out. Lot of fun!

Many of those options are useless to me because aftermarket is always better. However is it true that fully loaded m4 has a way better resell value than near base model m4??
It doesn't have those arm thingies that hand you the seatbelt. I guess I will have to buy the m3 so the seat belts are easier to reach.
I wish BMW, LEXUS, MERCEDES-BENZ, AND AUDI customize their customer's cars exactly to their specifications. For example, Some might want Bang and O/ H&K, but don't want everything that comes with the executive package if those sound systems come only in that package. I know this will take a long time for all companies to reach customers' expectations and specifications, but someone should give it a try for one year.

Constant when driving then it auto switches to event when parked.

Nick, I just ordered the car and i DID NOT get the M adaptive suspension. I am regretting it mostly because i will have to look at a blank button all the time!! I hope it doesn't drive me crazy but i know i would hardly have changed the settings. How do you feel about the M adaptive suspension?
When you say M leather, is it specific M leather or is it the individual leather?
if you could start again with your 991 would you go for that or the m4? I have just been bitten by the porsche bug bought a 997 don't ever want to drive any other car except porsches now.
