Djuma: Hosana male leopard catches baby Nyala at pan but does not kill right away -

- This camera watches over Gowrie dam on Djuma Game Reserve, in the Sabi Sand Wildtuin, South Africa. In fact this is the oldest waterhole cam in Africa and the world. It’s been broadcasting LIVE from this spot since 1998. With some luck you will see big cats coming for a drink o even on a kill close by. You can also expect to see a lot of impala (light brown antelope), waterbuck (white circle on rump), nyala (males have yellow legs and females have white stripes on flanks) and many other types of mammals, birds and reptiles.
The camera is remotely controlled by a volunteer corps of people around the world known as ‘zoomies’. They log into the camera according to a schedule in shifts, and pan, tilt and zoom in search of animals. They also Tweet sightings @WildEarth Djuma was started almost twenty years ago as a safari, lodge by the Moolman family, and is renowned for the quality of its game safaris.
Camera Man: "Interesting thing happening... i better film the grass"
I thought exactly the same 😂
Bingo! 😂😂😂😂
and have another puff of this grass ,...
It’s a camera operated remotely by admin. The cameraman is operating the trail cam from a remote location.
🖒
Try filming the sky more next time, there's more going on up there than there is on the ground.
This is an observation camera, running on it's own within a certain radius, monitoring the surrounding area, much like a security camera in a store.
There is no cameraman.
Out of all these video I respect this fawn the most! He fought like "hell" for his life!!!
I think all animals would fight so hard if the predator takes so long to kill it
This camera man is trained. Film the grass and trees.
might have been a drone
There is no cameraman. This is an observation camera which moves on it's own in given intervals.

I heard he got fire the next day.
Camera movement makes me sick.
cause the guy his high !
is this your first time using camera?
Hosana has been such a joy to watch...so glad our Prince came back home to Djuma
U
For the people who don't know, this geopard is not playing!!! He's just baiting for his mother!! And to catch him them
Those cries from the baby nyala are heartbreaking. Domestic cats sometimes do this too and Hosana was as gentle as he knew how to be. Very sad but this is how it is in the wild.
Yes, I had a female cat who would very proudly deposit the most enormous and very much alive rats on my kitchen floor. I did not enjoy that.
Annette Lane it wasn't heartbreaking at all. I love hearing those fawns get tortured
Nshsls Snshshsj
Someone who talks about listening is not as bad as someone who talks about doing. And doing to a human as opposed to listening to an animal.
@@tyrionmartin2868 뮤속인
Annette Lane @ I agree. The leopard was probably eating him alive. The life of a prey animal is rough. They are basically born to be meat for some feline, hyena or wild dog. I don't think any die of natural causes, but it is especially sad when a young one dies like that. It is a short life. It might have been a few days old at most. It would born to feel pain and then quickly die. Of course, some people will no doubt say that he served a purpose in the chain of life, which he did, but it makes it no less sad.
I give 1 (full) view to a scenery footage. Finally I can witness dry grasses there. Really scary
Baby fought for its life! I cannot believe how he didn't just give up, that baby would have had a strong position in a herd, if he had survived 😞
yeah, i'm sure it would have been a force to be reckoned with lol....
You do not stay with the herd, you die. Score one for natural selection. The herd is stronger in the long run for it.
He didn’t give up and went down with honor, no matter how petty or weak you are, always try to fight.
some people like to look for predators killing. I don't, I always root for the prey. Poor baby.
@@charliedallachie3539 yep tho he never stood a chance
Leopards never let go of anything even if it’s too young.
Caro migliora un po il modo di fare le riprese non si è capito una mazza dove il leopardo si è portato il piccolo
zoomie lost the shot going way to slow panning when they should have been turning. He didn't lost the baby...the zoomie didn't turn the camera ... smh
The Leopard faster disappear in wild like an ovni
crazy to see nyala knows to go to water to attempt to escape that young
Es increible !
La grabacion del video.
El capturador del video.
No tiene idea de camara .
Por la caldad de resolucion , parece una gran camara.
Pero el que la usa , no sabe ni entiende nada .
There is no person who is filming this!
This surveillance camera moves on it's own.
I love this camera man
Great video 👍👍
🐢HEY YOU ARE ZOOMING TOO FAST==🐢OK I WILL TRY TO MOVE THE CAMERA SLOWER...😂😂🤣🤣
Ok I read some of the other comments and it is the cycle of life, nature at its rawest...so be it...the kill to eat and survive...but it makes me appreciate hot sauce, seasoning salt, minced garlic or ketchup!
Need a better camera man😂😂😭😂😂😂
Yes indeed! This camera man sucks
Its remotely operated ya dumbass
@@herbhall3830 Id like to see you remotely operate a camera from miles away and trying to adjust for delays :)
@@geyotepilkington2892 doesnt matter still sucks majorly dumbass this isnt the only remotely shot video ive watched dumbass!
@@herbhall3830 😂😂
you had one job and you blew it.... focus pls...
We are invited to watch the shrubs and the pond and nothing more.
ha ha ha lol
Was this recorded by a blind person?
its a cam controlled by a person sitting at the other end of the world, so there is no person standing there and shooting it.
The person is restriced by issues of controlling the cam through remote.
I could've gone without the loud screams of horror in exchange for better camerawork. The audio is way better than the camera here.
What do you expect from a security camera...
I think he wasn’t very hungry.. so could afford to play catch with his food. My .... you have become a master hunter Hosana
no,he was using the baby as a bait for the mom i think im not sure, but im prob right
@@nyannl7611 You’re definitely wrong
@@GIwillo No they don’t there is absolutely no proof of this. Show me a video
@@GIwillo Links don’t work 🤣
Cats play with their food all of the time.
This waterhole doesn't seem natural...I've seen others that look similar and some that are long and narrow, are they manmade? Are they built using concrete or a pond liner/membrane to hold water? Providing lifesaving water during long droughts...outstanding!
It's indeed man-made, plenty of such dams all across the Sabi Sand game reserves, provide a life line for the wildlife during the long dry season.
That’s good info. Appreciate it.
was using the baby nyala as bait for the bigger mom to come back and get caught
I_rqsh
That makes sense
exactly
Thats not what they do cats play with their food for fun everyone knows this
@@popcornman6993 you can clearly see that right after the leopard catches the baby it stares in the direction of the mother (out of frame). Leopards and cheetahs don’t play with their food out of precaution that larger predators like lions and hyenas will come and take their kill from them. so they must eat right away. this was done with intent.
Do you have more zoom
This is like that one time I ordered a Big Mac from Mc Donald’s and my burger came out the bun and rolled 20ft towards the exit.
🤣🤣
Cat is the cat... They usually play with theirs food before they eat.
makes the meat more tender ,...
Practice hunting skills & exercise.
The cameraman who recorded this video. Stop this job, apply to the municipality as a worker.
remote controlled
Are dumb
Absolutely right bro
Bloody non-sense..What was the end result ?
I'll give you a hint : brpppph
Hey man its obvious you have no clue how nature works I have a degree in zoology so these videos are to show you it is not easy in the wild only guess strong survive
@@edmondsargis4757 Kind of a pointless answer. The video is vague and the title doesn't match the content! lol
@@edmondsargis4757 Totaly false.
Animals are not sadics. They catch and kill immediately to feed themselves.
When you see this kind of comportements, sure the predator has been perverted by a human intervention.
@@edmondsargis4757 he's probably a vegan
Who recorded this!
I'm still trying to figure out what in the living hell I'm watching...!
Camera operator, YOU ARE FIRED!
Jx-dama !
Must be g*y!
🤣 🤣 🤣
I prefer the shaky handheld camera far more than this slow reacting, electronic-controlled mount
Dam your slow wit movin that camera mate.. like could u go any slower my friend?
This video is awesome!!
Andy K why ? I can't even see the cat? what happend to the fawn? how is it awesome?
Definitely! Most of the time I couldn't see the leopard or the Nyala! It's awesome (not!)
Indeed I love watching the ground 😅
What is that insane tapping ?
The baby did his damnest to get away his survival instinct was in full gear even in infancy he was just to young to little and to vulnerable
I think this camera didn't handle by human...it shows close to far & far to close....it didn't move camera to shoot that leopard's every moment😂✌
cameraman should give an Oscar
Its a remotely controlled camera, they stream here all the time. Check it out
half of the video turned about watching the land rather than the corse scene itself
Wonder why he did that. He kept looking around. Was that the Nyala's mom wondering around there? Maybe he knew she would do that and was trying to get her instead. A bigger meal. Whatever the reason, I have seen this before on videos. It was a leopard or lion, one, that kept a baby animal for a long time and even fought another lion or leopard like it was protecting it. We all know Hosana loves company. Maybe that's why he kept it. He seems to get lonely. LOL! I will hate to see that change as he gets older, but it probably will. What a special cat he is.
There's not special about a leopard they are natural killers. Period.
He played with that poor baby like my cat plays with mice. Ithink it was because he was not hungry as he already had a kill, but the temptation was just too much for him to miss. After all, we love him, but he is a wild animal. Thank you for posting.
They tend to 'play' with food to draw back the mother (bait).
I think he didnt kill the fawn right away because its cries might have lured the mother to return and so he could have got a bigger meal.
u should hav added to the title. a look at the african landscape
couldnt you move the camera any slower?
I miss you hosana
Perte de Temps de voir votre vidéo. Et le sort du petit animal ?.
I was hoping it was better
Why do leopards do this? Is it using the fawn as bait or something?
Demitri Jones most definitely a bait.or maybe trying to playing with cuz it can’t escape and poses threat to him
I’ve watched enough of these videos now to know that leopards using baby animals as bait is just something leopards do. Still not nearly as disturbing as “ heron eats baby ducklings” videos.
Leperd was probably using the baby as bait to catch it's mother it knew it was near by -- poor mother if only she could rescue it from it's killer
What is wrong camera man?
People: When it comes to babies, all bets are off..
Mother Nyala: Why didn't y'all do something for my baby?
Bad camera work.
Sex
@@kriestiantni007kriestian6 whaat
Its terrible
Is it because it's after the mother? Maybe the calf is too small
Its killed or be killed
Now that was hard to watch...we get used to seeing it end rather quickly most times...and a baby prey at that...left my tummy queasy lol
Leopards will commonly play with their prey (as cats in general do).
Kemra meen is mentil right
What was that noise in the background?
What is with all the clicking noises?
Does anyone know what animal was making the grunting type noise? Pity we could see grass!!!
Robot camera?
you put a wrong caption.
Is this kind of quiz...??
Crazy camera man
Why is this nincompoop having so much trouble swinging the camera to the right?!?!?!?
Was the last several minutes of this video of the camera man panning and zooming on nothing necessary? Could have edited all that out man.
I prefer that we see how difficult wild-life photography can be.
If you like watching nothing, then your more easily entertained than I am.
@@djdemondude6593 I didn't view it as entertainment.
This just proves that all animals don't want to die but the human animal will even use them for sport
Oh dearie me Hosana. Not the cleanest of kills. You're lucky Tingana didn't hear this..... 💚🐆🐾
I don't understand what this filming is? what stories? enter the photographer's class
Hard to watch 😥
Do leopards get bored? Cause this looks like he is purposely playing with it.
Cats in general will play with smaller prey (Hosana never does this with adult duiker, for example)
Natureza sabe ser linda e ao mesmo tempo cruel
It is heartbreaking to watch the little one trying to get away. I know it’s the circle of life but it sucks to see. I love watching these videos but can’t watch them prey on each other.
Yes you are right, hurts to watch to be honest. If it's any consolation, humans are the only animals that truly sense impending death or contemplate their own death, so the little nyala wouldn't have suffered thinking that it's going to die, just unusual situation and anxious to be separated from the mother. When death comes it's usually very swift and relatively painless.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath
your logic is a little screwy! "I love *watching* these videos but *can’t watch* them prey on each other."
@@jayhouse3149 Yes let me explain it better for you…I love watching animals in their natural habitat, HOWEVER I do not like watching them attacking other animals for their dinner.
@@SL92018 what about adult impala being eaten alive by a hyena that can take upto 10mins to eventually die some how it don't think that is quick or painless but I'm not an expert and you speak with conviction so I reckon you must be.
How it really is in the world
The cameraman can't find the leopard. I think maybe this is his last video because the leopard behind his back ready for action!
Sad but life is so fleeting.. Here one second, gone the next... the world is a cold place.. but life goes on.
Soooooooo true
ohhh....the sky is beautiful.
The title of this video should be rewritten as: "Sorry dudes, I couldn't find the animals & then I forgot what I supposed to film at!"
The way this is filmed is frustrating, it's like they're not even following the animals..🙄
He loves playing with his food.
show boating before the kill
That cat has no pride or shame treating a helpless animal like that. It needs a comeuppance.
Nice camera focus
The cameraman knew how to flip-flop the camera lenses.
There just wasn't any cameraman...
This is an automatically run observation camera.
I dont know what tge camera man is focusing for a wide part of this video.
It's a remote control camera. He was scanning the area looking for the leopard, but the camera can only move so far, so fast.
Oh Hosana! What are you doing?
There's a problem with the camera man. He desperately needs training.😔
There's no camera man at all.
This is a security camera.
This leopard was used to mom doing the killing, he hasn’t developed his killer instinct yet. For the people thinking he’s luring the mother, predators go for what’s in front of them first. He’s probably too inexperienced to kill the baby right away, eventually he’ll learn when hyenas and lions start stealing his meals.
Martell Tavares Ozoria
He has killed duiker quickly and cleanly before this (on the same webcam), he’s not inexperienced. He’s toying with this calf because it’s not a large or fast meal, so it’s unable to flee and it being stolen isn’t that big of a loss.
And he has had his kills stolen....by other leopards.
Dumb camera man
Definitely hard to watch, I think even more so for that mom that kept searching.
I think he may be using it for bait and trying to lure in mama for a bigger meal.
But you watched anyway. Actually it's not hard to watch because when you witness human slaughter you become desensitized especially if you're a meat eater. These types of videos are for entertainment.
@@robertmakara2385 the mamma was there in the beginning you can see her abandon it. She was like so long kid
If I was here I would definitely save this baby Because he is not even eating it, he is just yearning the little life 😢😢😢😢
Wait for the tree with the ants marching 1-by-1... that’s when you’ll know you’ve gone too far
This must be a remote camera operator
Its called keepin ya kill fresh Bud.
Leopard should play a game with this bloody cameraman
It’s a remote controlled camera, so there is a lag between the operator moving the camera and the camera actually moving.
the filming of the animals was so frustratiing because the camera was so slow to keep track of the anaimal movement.
experienced.....letting it stand next to him, knowing its too injured to run
C'est un bebe,il fault le sauver Aulieu de faire vidio?
These have been posted for 10 years and y'all still try to act like this is a strange phenomenon. I've now seen every big cat in Africa do it. They're using the baby as bait to see if the mom comes...
