My husband died from this 16 years sober. The varices burst and he projectile vomited blood for several hours. The trauma room looked like a slasher film. The wonderful thing is that he didn't know he was dying. He was saying where he wanted to go for supper, talking of the future, and telling jokes. At the very end, he started laughing at his own joke, seized, then his heart stopped. I hold close that he died laughing, and was never afraid.
My mom died from this. Never drank a day in her life. Might've been caught if it hadn't taken so long to see a gastro doc. But hey, she got to see that Dr. in the ER, then never saw anyone again, after the scope ruptured one of those distended veins.
My mom had this too but it was from diabetes that she didn’t take very good care of. She passed due to other diabetic complications last year. Non alcoholic fatty liver they called it.
@@lrogers8881my sister never drank, but didnt control her diabetes, She had NASH and me and her friends had to bully her to get her to the ER. She passed in April from it- she had to go on dialysis and passed when she couldnt anymore. Im sorry for your loss.😢
My brother -in-law died aged 40, from this uncontrollable bleeding from esophagus varices. He died before the paramedics got there. So sad. Left behind his 4 year old daughter. 😢💔
Curious what specifically causes the distended veins in the esophagus? Is it the hypertension in the liver causing a "back up" of blood flow, thus the distended veins? Let me know if I'm right, close, or correct me - but only if you truly know, please don't speculate. Thanks in advance! And I, too know several people who died from "The Crimson Geyser." Interesting yet unfortunate still, to know the actual name of the condition.
I think initial explanation should be changed " Portal vein thrombosis is blockage or narrowing of the portal vein (the blood vessel that brings blood to the liver from the intestines) by a blood clot. Most people have no symptoms, but in some people, fluid accumulates in the abdomen, the spleen enlarges, and/or severe bleeding occurs in the esophagus. ,
My mom had this due to nonalcoholic cirrhosis. For two years she suffered these bleeds even with surgical intervention. Last Friday she passed away due to her uncontrollable low blood pressure and her kidneys completely shutting down.
@@kellsbellls channels get pushed up in the algorithm when they have a ton of comments. Intentionally pronouncing something incorrectly, or annoying to the pedants will cause more people to comment, as you did. It's literally beneficial for their channel, and they know it.
@@huntergirl7275why don't you think he has a speech impediment? I've seen plenty of comment seeding on other channels so I'm familiar with the concept. But I don't think it's the case here.
Worst vomiting I’ve ever seen was esophageal varices. Filled up entire emesis bags with blood enroute to hospital. We ended up intercepting for blood products. Patient went straight to the OR.
i think using some of that ChubbyEmu breakdowns would help here, would be easier to follow for someone who is into medical stuff but isn’t familiar with topic at all (me)

Is this that mysterious "coughing up blood" illness that every parent in movies has?

Now you're drinking with portals!

This is called "comment fishing" or "comment seeding." Your next step is to click "Do not recommend this channel" to discourage this type of behavior.
OR he has a speech impediment. Idiots.

Can this also happen from one time drinking too much? My friend on her 18th (I'm in Europe) birthday drank way too much and started vomiting blood

Was that with EMS? From the street? Carrying blood must be a nightmare
