At 63 I retired, the golden years, take it easy is a lie I fell for. At 69, in December 2023, my back neighbor had an accident, I grabbed my ladder and went over the 6ft wall and helped. In her back yard is the final electrical pole with a stay cable that I used in the past to swing back over. I failed to do it as I had lost my strength. I was shocked so I decided on a life change. I bought weights and started training including some cardio. I now train 3 times a week increasing my reps (at 4 sets) in time and then reducing the reps when I increase the weights I use. I was at 97kg (214lbs) and now I am at 84kg (185lbs), down from a size 40 to a 34 pants size. Now I am thinking of changing my diet to shake of the last bit of fat.

Here are key points from the video:
The video discusses the concept of "ultra-processed" foods and their impact on health. It highlights that 73% of items in a typical grocery store are these highly processed foods, which are not true "food" as they do not contribute to growth or energy burning.
The rise in diabetes rates over the past 20 years is linked to the increase in sugar and hidden sugars in the food supply, rather than the reduction in trans fats. Countries like India and China have high diabetes rates despite being thinner, due to the prevalence of ultra-processed foods.
The author proposes that the weight loss success of his friends is not due to calorie restriction, but rather the elimination of processed foods and reduced insulin levels. Insulin drives fat storage, so lowering insulin by avoiding refined carbs and sugar is key for weight loss and metabolic health.
The Nova food classification system categorizes foods from 1 (whole) to 4 (heavily processed), with class 4 foods strongly linked to chronic diseases. The author's "Perfect" tool can help identify Nova 1-3 foods to focus on, which make up only 20% of a typical grocery store.
The video emphasizes the importance of minimizing ultra-processed, high-sugar foods and instead prioritizing whole, minimally processed foods to support metabolic health and prevent chronic diseases.

Guess what, you can take those foods out of your diet. ANYTHING processed should have a label." Chemical Shitstorm Inside". Don't touch it. Stay away from chicken from Tyson. They eat poison. NO BEEF! No sugars. No powders or pills. No protein shakes. Go to the gym. If it took you 10 years to put the weight on, give yourself 5 years to take it off. Stop beating yourself up. You will fail some days. make that number smaller every week. When you see change....revel in your new you. When the weight does come off you will see a strong sexy muscular body that was undertone all long. Stand in front of the mirror and check out those tiger claws in your shoulders wen they come. And NEVER beat yourself up for not doing more. You are doing more.

I'm from India. Diabetes is a big problem in India, but it used to be an even bigger one. India was under brutal colonization for 1000 years (and some more) with repeated famines, almost twice every decade, and each one being an engineered famine. Thousands of ppl had to flee their homes and live in forests, running forever from conversion. As a result, Indian genetics have adapted to something called the Famine Diet. Fat gets stored in the belly and diabetic risk shoots up exponentially. India used to have much, much more diabetes a few years ago than it does today, it is on a downward trend. With people slowly getting better and better food security, diabetic rate is also going down.
Indians generally do not consume a lot of processed food. Majority of the food that is consumed can be classified as Nova class 2 or class 3. Processed food is in fact very rare in India.

The ketogenic diet is not extreme; it is radical. It was originally used to treat drug resistant epilepsy a hundred or so years ago and is highly effective in many cases. It is also the only diet that's been closely studied for many years as it is a medical intervention. It is currently being used and studied as a medical intervention for mental illness, again showing high efficacy.

I visited Canada recently from the UK and was amazed at the range of processed foods. My thoughts are .... if you dont recognise it as food in its original format dont eat it. Meat fish veg and fruit with the occasional glass of red wine and if you have to use oil use olive oil. Dont buy the rubbish, if it's not in the cupboard you cant eat it

Indian and Chinese farmers are not fat, but the city dwellers are. Both classes eat rice, yet one do hard physical labour from dawn to dusk, and the another sit and lie all day. There is also frequent eating, junk food eating which the farmer class can't afford. Rice and bread is a energy drug in open. If that energy isn't used in full it will be quickly turned into fat. Also the rice and flour are now 'polished' to look white. But whole grains are beneficial.

Question regarding 5:23. If someone was to follow Huberman's initial advice (eat meat, chicken, fish, fruits, and veg), and cut out the rest, BUT the meat was corn fed, then what impact does that have? I'm on a pretty tight budget and availability of non-corn fed meats can be hard to come by. Thanks!

I was in the military for a long time, calisthenics three times a week, running from 2-5 miles, and never lost enough to talk about. Except when I changed my diet and started intermittent fasting, I also used taurine without the energy drinks. Chemical looked like sugar or salt. 3 grams a day. It went from 42" to 34, which took a while, but it took more control than exercise. I'd say diabetes is a result of toxins. Epoch Times says vegetable oil is seed oil with cleaning solvents added and then baked to a high temperature. Its caustic destroys liver arteries. Even that requires intermittent fasting

Comparisons have been done on both and while grass fed/grass finished was better it was minor so if the extra bucks is an issue don't bother. Why do we have to assign blame or shame? You're obese. DEAL WITH IT. Not dealing with it is your deal. Do it or die. That's your choices. I was 70 pounds over weight. I still looked okay because I can carry it, but the doc said i was heading toward diabetes and hypertension. i was eating my way to death. Three days later I was down to 1000 calories of protein a day. That's it. No fat foods. No sugar. No carbs. no excuses. Three months later I'm down 40 pounds and i can go to the gym without dying from a heart attack. 3 months later I'm down 60 pounds and up 10 pounds of new muscle. I'm safe. No on shamed me or even talked to me about it. I get to live. That's all that happened.
This is your life. If food is that important that you will allow yourself to die, get to it and stop blaming everyone else.

Yeah... no. Has not worked for me. Unless a small square of dark chocolate daily, at breakfast, is enough sugar to keep me from losing weight in spite of only eating food "from the edges of the grocery store". Intermittent fasting, 8K steps per day, yoga 3x per week.

I found stepping up to one meal a day (OMAD) was the difference that made a difference. In the last 6 weeks I’ve lost 6kg. 14 to go. When (hopefully when) I reach my goal weight, I will experiment with how many days per week I can have more than one meal, without gaining weight.
Note - I still lose weight when I have a small amount of sugar (e.g. a snickers bar) with my meal, so you don’t need to be a puritan about it.

I eat nova class 1 with occasional nova class 2 foods.
Single ingredients. Only I do the mixing. I've put on 20 lbs. Seems like belly fat. The internal type. Everytime I hear you's guy's BS and gaslight I just shake my head.

Actually it takes the right nutrients from your diet to help your body recover from that amount of exercise at that intensity. You’re clearly a knob.

No. You'll get bad breath and be really ill within two weeks. It's the Atkins effect. Try eating vegetables with the meat. Cut down on white bread, rice, pasta etc- you don't need to eliminate them altogether. I'm speaking from long term experience. I have slowly lost the excessive weight on this plan. No pastry, biscuits or cakes, no milk chocolate or crisps. You can have nuts, seeds or fruit like apples, satsumas etc. no bananas or pears. Take more exercise and your blood glucose level will drop over time.

we adopt UBI to get people less stressed about economic burdens.
we adopted universal healthcare so people can get the care they need.
