    So true that you have to reach that "switch" in order to commit to change. For me it was the final 15 lbs I gained early on in the pandemic. Was already REALLY overweight and out of shape at that point - mostly due to my own behavior and partially due to medical issues. To say I was motivated is a complete understatement and did not let any excuses or "yeah buts" get in the way of working to get healthier. Have lost 115 lbs and maintained it so far for a year now. Channels like this were definitely part of the supportive arsenal to "get in" and "stay in" right mind-frame. Also helped that I learned to actually cook. And by cook, I mean making very convincing healthier doppleganger versions of foods I love and incorporated more fruits and veggies. Then worked in the physical activity progressively as weight came off and capabilities progressed. Thank you for your deep dive explorations on so many health-related topics.

      Did you do keto?

    • @Spicy_So_Nicey3746
      @Spicy_So_Nicey3746 Рік тому +3

      @@classicalperformances8777 No keto because I just couldn’t divorce myself from carbs and foods I really love. I incorporated higher protein, and kept my calories just under (by several hundred to 500 cal deficit) maintenance thru combo of diet and excercise. How I actually did it- First got TDEE calculator and got a general range of where I should be with moderate carb/protein macros. Then literally wrote down everything I ate for nearly a month manually tallying calories/macros and weight self daily to see if I was trending up or down in weight to further dial in what I was intaking. Then I came up MyFitnessPal and found there was a MUCH easier way to count macros/calories. Also invested in a Withings scale and connect app to My FitnessPal. I swapped out lots of sauces for less calorie or less sugar versions (not keto but sometimes cutting added sugars here gives flexibility elsewhere for calories) I basically made some thought concessions and swaps. Lean meats like 93/7 ground beef or Turkey compared to regular 80/20 beef….turkey pepperoni or sausage in place or regular….channels like ExcerciseforCheatMeals, Remington James, Will Tennyson, Greg Doucette, and many more like it. I took what I could from those channels and modified where needed. It has been actually pretty fun and exciting to see how I could make really convincing doppelgängers that were really close to originals but much healthier and taste good, while being calorie/macro friendly. Had paradigm shift on how I viewed food. Once a good amount of weight came off (60ish pounds) I noticed I didn’t hurt all the time and was able to incorporate more exercise in. Paradigm shift here too- went from “oh my God I don’t want to exercise because it hurts and sucks ass” to “I get to exercise because I don’t hurt anymore…and I want to….and might not always be able to once I’m an old fart so let’s do this!” This was totally doable and literally have no thyroid due to Graves Disease. Thought I would never be able to lose weight and get healthier but it is possible, and does have to break the bank (for programs) or feel like a punishment. I literally CAN have the regular treats and fun foods now because of balance and mindful eating and physical activity elsewhere. And owe soooo soooo sooo soooo much to YT channels like these!!!!!☺️💯🙏🏼

      If you watch his podcasts or more interview based ones and not this general discussion based type- he goes into the science behind why certain tools are effectives. He actually quotes from research papers and explains stuff better. This podcast seemed to be more light hearted and general chit chat.

    He's a neurology expert. stop platforming ball tugging these grifters masquerading as Renaissance men. Promoting disordered eating that specifically increases desire to binge later in the day and fatigue inducing training which also increases desire to binge is an example of why academics need to stay in their effing lane.

      @@MuwahhidNeef yes and I've heard of disordered eating. Not eating all day increases hunger to binge eat later. Avoiding food all day doesn't decrease desire to eat an uncontrollable caloric bolus. Of course not everyone has this problem when fasting but who fasts? Usually people with weight problems and yo-yo diets. Why do they have weight problems and do yo-yo diets? Because they starve then binge and repeat. It's an eating disorder.
