I live in Metro Detroit and have my entire life. I’m convinced that this year we made a blood sacrifice of the Pistons in order to make the Lions contenders
Brandon Jennings was progressing in Detroit. He was picking up his play all around until the career ending injury. He deserves more credit and that injury was bigger than people acknowledge
Ya. BJ should've been a top 5 pg in the era. He was special. That injury just killed it. They were starting to get better and they had cap space, then, poof.

It’s been the curse of my Pistons trading away Chauncey Billups in 2008 that killed the franchise from being respectable contenders to a complete joke for a decade plus.
I often hear people say "this poorly managed team drafted yet another bust"... How much is on the draft choice and how much is it poorly managed teams failing to develop young talent, putting them in toxic environments etc.? Curious what you think...
It's more on the management for sure. Obviously in some cases you have bad mixes of talent and execution of said talent. Or even personality issues. But it's mainly on the organization to maximize the talent and obviously with the Pistons never tanking, the probability of that talent growing the way they want will be minimal. Biggest mistake with this team. Not taking Melo in 2003!!! Pistons probably have 3 chips from that era and still wouldve had a young Melo to build around as the future
I'm a Celtics fan. Post-Bird retirement until the Big 3 were some lean years. Yeah, a couple playoff appearances with Pierce and Walker, but every year was a disappointment since Bird left and Reggie Lewis died. So I def know what Piston fans are feeling.
Imagine playing the best you can to win a Game. Individually u only can control what you do. And lose 26 straight when u trying. I feel for the young guys on the team not the veterans. The shocking thing is it was the veterans on the team who organized it. you'd think it would be the young guys. But guys like Rip and Tayshaun doing it was definitely not a good look for anyone.

And after all that the Pistons have never been the same. This was a great video Alvini and hope you have a great merry Christmas bro (ik it's early) 💯🔥
The Pistons have been tanking for as long as I can remember and it doesn't do a bit of good they could have the number one draft pick for the next 10 years and still suck
Pasta man I think you should make a video similar to this but on your team the clips. From bad trades in 80s to load management now I think that would be a interesting video. Love the content
The pistons could have been a dynasty far long after the early 2000’s. Just some teams can’t play their cards right. The infinite rebuild shoulda ended long ago but bad officiating and trades got em here :( disappointing
Considering all of this research I put into making this. Yeah there were many ways the Pistons and Joe Dumars in particular doomed them in the beginning. Many great prospects they missed out on because they didn’t want to tank. And then they messed it up more by not developing any talent outside of Drummond (if you consider him developed talent)
@@Alvini_Linguine Drummond was a fantastic player and as a Bulls fan I will not tolerate any slander of that guy. Dude can still be a starter on some teams even now.
If I was the Detroit Pistons owner. I would have made Chauncey Billups the head coach when he came back as a player at 37. Pay them to retire and he would have been the head coach
That 1st round pick they've traded to the Clippers to acquire Blake Griffin turned out to be the 12th overall pick and with it the Clippers selected Miles Bridges...who was traded to the Charlotte Hornets for their 11th overall pick in the draft - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. This is important as the next offseason the Clippers traded SGA, Danilo Gallinari, 5 1st round picks (4 of them unprotected) and 2 pick swaps to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Paul George. Michael Porter Jr. was drafted 14th overall by the Nuggets while the Bucks selected Donte DiVincenzo 17th overall. All players Detroit could've picked had they kept their pick instead of trading it for a player on an absurdly large contract and with well documented injury record.
Those players all could’ve been much better, but then I wonder if the staff would’ve been able to properly develop those players. I’m a nuggets fan and I think Detroit would’ve given up on MPJ due to his injury issues
In my mind Detroit is supposed to be one of the “it” teams in the league. I remember believing Lebron couldn’t beat them. Just feels like they shouldn’t ever be as bad as they end up being.
Remember when Pistons fans were talking mad 💩 about the Sacramento Kings back in the 2022 draft for picking Keegan? Looks like they’re going to be the next team going on a long playoff drought 😂😂😂😂
Possibly an even longer playoff drought than the Kings? Maybe the first NBA team to have a 20 year playoff drought? It’s definitely not looking good for them right now. They need their own version of Dan Campbell to come in, actually want to be there, and someone that can instill that hard-nosed mentality like what’s going on for the Lions.

Good thing you are on a keyboard and not a desk
You had the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever when David Aldridge came up talking about the trade.
What could he have done?
@@johndavis9321Skip him while he was talking like on 2K lol
Actually, the Pistons won 44 games during the 2015-2016 season.
Who would have thought the lions would be the talk of Detroit
The fall of the Detroit Pistons is in tandem with the fall of Detroit itself.
Krispy flakes crying rn
In my mind Detroit is supposed to be one of the “it” teams in the league. I remember believing Lebron couldn’t beat them.
Just feels like they shouldn’t ever be as bad as they end up being.
The pistons and Monty Williams especially are killing Jaden’s development rn smh
Starting Killian over Ivey was genuinely a head scratcher
Hey great job on this. Im a Wolves Fan but I like learning about other teams
Very fitting watching this after they set the record for most games lost in a row
